Aruban Unions Bring lawsuit Against Oduber Cabinet … “No work No pay.” Sounds Like No Body, No Crime

No work, no pay … No body, no crime: both damaging to Aruba Tourism.

The public employee strike has gone on for weeks and continues in Aruba A14with no end in sight. Civil servants have blocked the road along the Government Building that caused chaos and huge traffic jams.  They have also blocked the access road to the harbor, at the office of Aruba Port Authority. Now, the civil servant unions united in SDA have instituted a lawsuit against the Oduber-cabinet where the government is not paying salaries based on the principle ‘no work no pay’.

ORANJESTAD – The civil servant unions united in SDA have instituted a lawsuit against the Oduber-cabinet.  The lawsuit is to prevent the striking civil servants from not being paid this month.  According to lawyer Edwin Duijneveld that represents the unions, the government is not allowed to withhold salaries based on just the principle ‘no work no pay’. (AMIGOE: 4/18/2008)

Doesn’t this sound hauntingly similar to “no body, no crime” of which the Aruban people sat on their hands and did not hold their police or government for answers into the disappearance and justice for Natalee Holloway?

What is further mind boggling is the abject ignorance of a strike for higher wages while the unions are in the process of further destroying Aruba’s economy and providing a lasting memory for those currently vacationing there. One where they will never come back again due to the “troubling” and “unstable situation” they were presented with while supposedly being on vacation.

Ahata-director Rob Smith said that the organizations cannot just sit still and let all this happen; the labour conflict is already damaging the Aruban economy.

The minister doesn’t understand why the social partners are just now taking actions, while they have been well informed of the situation and could have anticipated damages for the Aruban economy.

“With this invitation they want the government to handle on an irresponsible manner for Aruba and agree with what the unions are asking.  That has never happened before in the history of Aruba.”

Unions take the Aruban government to court (Amigoe: 4/18/2008)

ORANJESTAD – The civil servant unions united in SDA have instituted a lawsuit against the Oduber-cabinet.  The lawsuit is to prevent the striking civil servants from not being paid this month.  According to lawyer Edwin Duijneveld that represents the unions, the government is not allowed to withhold salaries based on just the principle ‘no work no pay’.

The strike has been going on for weeks now.  The civil servants blocked the road along the Government Building yesterday morning and caused huge chaos in traffic.  This morning, they blocked the access road to the harbour, at the office of Aruba Port Authority.  At the airport and the schools, the employees are still on strike.

Representatives of Ahata, ATIA, and the Chamber of Commerce conducted an unexpected press conference yesterday to overcome the deadlock in the labour dispute between the government and the unions.  Ahata-director Rob Smith said that the organizations cannot just sit still and let all this happen; the labour conflict is already damaging the Aruban economy.  They offered the government and the unions a ‘negotiation table’ in the Radisson Hotel today starting at 13:00.

ATIA-chairman Juan David Yrausquin added that the parties ‘are not allowed to leave the table before there is a solution’.  “We, Aruba, will see to this.”

Others present at the press conference were the chairs of storeowners’ association Mambo, unions IOUWA (Valero-refinery), SIWA (WEB-personnel), STT (telecommunication), AVB (nurses), Union Taxista Arubano, and also the directors of AAA and ATA.

Finance-minister Nilo Swaen (MEP) has already indicated on behalf of the government that they won’t go to the Radisson Hotel.

Swaen says that he will only consider negotiations, if the social partners will also back the government when she is forced to double the bbo-percentage to continue paying for the personnel expenses.

Premier Nelson Oduber has invited Ahata, ATIA, and the KvK to come to the government building around noon today to ‘receive the necessary information’.  He is under the impression that the employers’ organizations have an incorrect image of the situation.  The statements of the business circles regarding the current conflict with the civil servant unions have surprised him.

are the rules of the Forum different than these postings…how often is the forum open….who starts a topic????
SM: The forum is open 24/7 just as this Blog is. Anyone can start a topic but you should always check and see if that topic has already been started. That said, I can always merge topics if necessary. If anything, I’d say the rules in the forum are a little stricter than they are on this front page blog. (klaasend)

What an outrage … the Aruban government is saying that the unions actually have to do their jobs if they want to be paid. Guess that isn’t true for police or government officials … hasn’t been for the last three years, anyway.

The schools are on strike; I guess Anita has some free time. What do you think, she’s going to fly to the Netherlands to look up the little sporter?

Here’s a suggestion for the striking workers: since you have some free time, why don’t you mount a search for Natalee Holloway?

Why don’t some of you picket the van der Scum home?

And why doesn’t someone take on the responsibility of soliciting donations for the Persistence, so it can get back to sea and complete its task? (I still don’t know if Jossy Mansur is doing this, though in an e-mail he promised me he would … maybe his ‘commitment’ to the case depends on there being headlines?)

Can’t be bothered, Aruba? Well, we can’t be bothered with you.

Folks, it’s not too early to start getting ready for the June protest in Washington, D.C. With all this turmoil going on, you can bet that Aruba will be getting down on its hands and knees to any prospective tourists.

They want business as usual. We won’t let them get it. But it takes our commitment to stand up and say: “No justice for Natalee, no tourism for Aruba.”

Write to for info or to help out in whatever way you can. Thanks!

On top of numbers and finances already dwindling…this strike is going to hurt Arubans where they care the most…in the pocketbook & bank !!

Another indication things are off ….on the Craigslist…I have never seen so many owners trying to dump their Aruban “timeshares” and condos at reduced prices. Noticed more especially than ever before starting 2007.

The current turmoil will also contribute to this.

No Justice for Natalee Holloway and her family–No justice for those Islanders who deserve more benefits from their homeland…sad to say but true. Richard’s posting #8 asks ALL the RIGHT questions!

Since Anita does have extra time before the summer holiday off- bet she will go pay an early visit to her little Sporter rotting away in the insane asylum … lol

How many fights do you think Joran has gotten into in the mental institution……guess he’s on the computer gambling and Daddy is probably sneaking him booze….so when is coming out for questioning by the judge…I think he said many more things to Patrick about Natalee that never got recorded.

Yes protesters make your way past the Sloot’s house with your justice for Natalee posters and signs…

The islanders want money and the government doesn’t know what to do about it….tourists had better watch their pockets and handbags….

I bet the tourists are worried about some type of an outbreak for a riot….could happen…3000 people on a rampage….I bet Oduber is hiding inside his house, maybe he could hide out with the Sloot’s….

They are also having trouble in Curacao. the port of services went on strike and there are many ships waiting outside of the harbor…

I bet the Dutch are ready to ditch these ABC islands…

    21. brie. on April 20th, 2008 1:10 pm

All airlines should cancel their flights to Aruba not limited to just American….you can’t guarantee safety if all your people are on strike…I think I would exchange my ticket for a different destination….maybe people already did…

And can you imagine how the prices are going to go up in their shops, restaurants, etc from lack of tourists….it’s already expensive and just going to get worst…

#23 & 27…Misskatie…it does get funnier by the day….Oduber will go completely bald and Jacobs will get so fat he’ll stick to the toilet seat like that lady did.

You still have to laugh at all the tourists getting off the plane and thinking they have a welcoming committee and then picturing them dragging their baggage and running to the airport…Aruba a memorable experience….doubt if they’ll be back…and also, getting on the plane thinking your heading for Aruba but instead your landing in Puerto Rico….this is a comedy…can’t wait for the next chapter…

    33. always 1 on April 20th, 2008 3:06 pm

    34. brie. on April 20th, 2008 3:11 pm

#30..M….reasonable…what isn’t even reasonable is that there is no justice for Natalee because of your tourism, she went there to celebrate her graduation and never came home….you people could of done something to help Beth, not protest against her and tell her to go home….you know your gov’t is corrupt but no one attempted to do anything about it… you could of protested for justice, like you said your island lives from tourism…..why don’t you read Beth’s book or Dave’s book..

And yes Patrick did try to help but many were not happy about his open letter nor his e-mailing…and we are still waiting for justice

    35. brie. on April 20th, 2008 3:22 pm

m….always 1 is right, we are not asking for that much…just the truth, justice for Natalee and to bring her home so she can have a proper funeral and burial….why don’t you help collect money from your island so the Persistence can come back…..American’s have used their own money, time and equipment for the search….not to mention all those dedicated volunteers….

      To M
You are simply unaware of all the details of this case, undoubtedly. The kind people of Aruba protested Beth Twitty and said they would stop the investigation if she didn’t comply with their demands. We all, Beth included didn’t think that they would come through with the investigation but there was hope at one time. They were in the streets protesting her. Yes the kind Aruba! The one I will always strongly advise against visiting.

The truth about what happened to Natalee Holloway and justice to follow!
Aruba will be damned until information is out in the open about what the hell happened to Mr. Pink?
The thugs that raped a girl in school and emailed pictures.
That piece of trash in Georgia named Koen and what does he know?
Lorenzo, butt ugly Steve Croes, Dompig son and many others. Tell the damn truth Aruba for once and be done with it is all they had to do. They did not and will continue on a downward spiral from which they will never recover to the position they once were.

I believe more than a few were into drugging and raping American tourists! Odubers son, Dompigs and others the reason the truth can’t come out. The other bastard sons we go to jail if Joran squeals on them.
Joran is just plain psychopath and ought to be locked in mental institution or put to death.
He could be evaluated and involuntarily committed.

Aruba might as well get their epitaph ready for their so called tourism.

    53. kiltie65 on April 20th, 2008 6:01 pm

And the one who started the whole fiasco is seeking asylum IN the asylum!

    54. txchic on April 20th, 2008 6:04 pm

yep, if the islanders aren’t receiving full pay, the crime rate will go up dramatically in aruba. of course the tourist sites will fudge the numbers (as usual).

    55. kiltie65 on April 20th, 2008 6:09 pm

Aruba’s woes all began with Joran, and the cycle he set in motion. It will continue until some sort of justice is meted out. You can’t dispose of someone and expect to walk away with no repercussions. Unless the Van der Sloots and Kalpoes, et al, screw up during the civil trial and leave themselves open to perjury, it seems Joran will only receive a small sentence for disposing of a body. As others have pointed out, maybe his “confession” was staged with this outcome in mind? Meanwhile, I believe many years will pass before Aruba once again has a thriving economy because of years of bad publicity, and years after that before monies will trickle down to the common man where he can make a living.

The natives are restless…maybe they are trying to get rid of the pigs in the gov’t and put their own people in there.

Look what Joran did along with Paulus and they are not even from Aruba….look at the Kalpoes they are from Surinam along with Dompig….there was a list on here at one time that showed all the names in Oduber’s cabinet and I don’t think any of them were from Aruba….

#6l, you’re right, hundreds of little girls disappear every year. most are eventually found, and all of them are diligently looked for and cared about, and everything possible done to find them or their remains, and great effort is expended to provide justice for them. except the ones that are harmed on aruba. when a l6 yr. old aruban girl was gangraped in her own school, the perps are still walking around free with their cell phone pics and the little girl had to be sent to another island to finish school. an american tourist girl disappears at the hand of aruban youths and her parents are told to go home, shut up, and get over it. the victim and her family and those who tried to help find her are accused of being whores, sluts, insurance scammers, and even more vicious lies are spread about them. just to keep from having to try and convict the perps. a wonderful place is aruba, home of rapists and misogynists of the first order. until there is a change of leadership, tourists beware.

I wish Beth could get on with her civil suit, it’s a shame Joran threw a monkey wrench into everything, not that he doesn’t belong in a mental institution but it’s to bad that he wasn’t question by the judge under oath first. He’s hiding because he knows if he lies and gets caught he’ll be in big trouble. I hope Bram is keeping a close on him ready to pounce.

I also wonder if Paulus is handling all the paperwork for the gov’t over the strike.

I don’t think Patrick is a hero anymore.

I think he helped take some of the heat
off the Kalpoes. He helped transfer that
heat to Joran. The hidden camera footage was
*initiated by Patrick, he is the one who
      started conversations with De Vries.

So they have a big TV special where Joran says,
I have been such a bad boy… I did it all,
the Kalpoes did none of it… oh, oh, ohhh now I
must go off to a mental institution… I am
a baddie, oh woes meeee, dude! The mental ward
he checked into, he can check out of, AT

Don’t let these losers fool you! That is exactly
what they were praying for. Patrick was begging
you not to boycott Aruba anymore, because WE ARE
puttin’ THE WICKED HURTZ ON ‘EM! As you can easily
see by following Arubian news. (do not let them
breathe – not even for 1 second.)

Things they didn’t take into account:

Things Joran and his psychological lab experiment for a father did not expect would go wrong…

      1. We have as many highly talented people investigating this as we do, in multiple countries.

      2. That the mention of Daury actually helped the
US nab Daury and put him in jail! Good one,
Jordy… u truly are the ‘TARD that just keeps
on giving. For that, Elmo loves you.

      3. Patrick aka “Scarface” would blog his egotistical balls off, & keep running that mouth!

I for one, am madder than ever, and am lining my next round of anti-Aruba artillery up on deck. I really don’t think these Vandersloot Aruba idiots thoroughly do their research when they come up with these nutty schemes to handle the situation in which they find themselves. A situation that could have been fixed, 3 years ago. By simply placing three lying little boys in jail… until they extracted the truth out of them.

      We’re going to bury you!

      Natalee Holloway will
      absolutely get her

Even if we have to pull
      it through your

Notice how that little Philadelphia outfit who sent Greta a seemingly “threatening” notice of possible legal action for media driven comments about Aruba being in a coverup?

Notice how tourism by Americans dwindles daily, and even a few game shows can’t seem to give away a 4 night stay for free? Who would want to go there….and face the probabilty of winding up in a shallow grave, or as chum for the sharks?

The Sand Pig pimps will have to settle for local female talent in the future…they aren’t going to enjoy all-American females any longer. It’s over.

#30 M……the people of aruba stood by and said nothing. they knew what happened. they knew of the lies and the coverup but they made a CHOICE to stand by their government officials and keep silent about the matter. i’ve taken an excerpt from dan’s RealArubaTruth Feb, 2006 “as long as your government and ALE do not fully explain those occurrences, Americans will doubt you and distrust you. Remember that. Aruba just hopes this will go away in a year or two, but you fail to realize that Beth talks about how unsafe and predator-ridden Aruba is at every school campus she visits as part of her ‘Save Yourself’ safety campaign. Dave’s book (which incidentally calls Aruba corrupt in the title) will be on bookshelves for a long, long time to come. There is no effective time frame on how long Americans will doubt, distrust, and even hate Aruba for failing to find natalee and unduly prolonging her family’s suffering. Until you demand more immediate and constant accountability and oversight in this investigation and full FBI inclusion, you have no cause to complain about the ‘bad rap’ Aruba is getting now. It takes a long time to build a reputation but an instant to destroy it huh? If you truly want the business and goodwill of the U.S. again, then you have to earn it all over again. Like it or not, you have no choice but to find Natalee…if you cannot or will not, then you have no right to complain about this oh-so-unfair treatment.”
and with that said, THE BOYCOTT WILL CONTINUE.

Carpe,,, Patrick could’ve had a plan with Joran to say that about the Kalpoes, so they thought the Kalpoes could win their lawsuit and split some money with them.

Remember Nadira said the boys said Natalee didn’t say hi or introduce herself, yet Deepak’s statement said Natalee got in the car and said hi I am Natalee.. She also said Satish don’t drink after it was told all 3 were drinking that night, she also blew her son’s time line out and then tried to get them not to show her interview with it on it, on tv. They also all got together at a lawyers office with the Sloots to get lawyers, before they were even arrested, got together at the Sloots, Deepak said Natalee put her hands down his pants to throw an investigation off, he also told Mickey Johns in jail, Paulus and Joran, father , family and them all got around the pool and made up the Holiday Inn lie. Deepak didn’t want kissing in his car, yet put on a porn tape for everyone to see and said they have all been in the same room having sex. Satish said Natalee wanted to go to her hotel.. Obstruct and lie.. Then after all this, they wanted Beth to apologize to the Kalpoe brothers..

I remember Nadira wanting to try and blame this on why she got fired from the steakhouse, and the headline was Beth don’t owe Nadira Ramirez an apology.. because..(ironic her boss was Cohen)

ORANJESTAD—- “The firing of Nadira Ramirez, the mother of Statish [sic] and Deepak Kalpoe, has nothing to do with the Holloway-case or the fact that she is the mother of the brothers Kalpoe”, so explains Ike Cohen, director of the Manchebo Hotel.

Hereby Cohen reacts to the expressions of Ramirez in a morning newspaper that says that her firing relates to the Holloway-case. Cohen: “We have given Mrs. Ramirez the reasons for the firings, both verbally and in writing It is not up to us make the reasons for this firing public, since we are of the opinion that it would violate the privacy of Mrs. Ramirez.

The alleged reason that Ramirez was fired would have been fraud. After being off from her work on Monday and Tuesday because of the freeing of her sons Ramirez appeared Wednesday again at her work in the Steakhouse of Manchebo. She was called to the Management, her thinking was that she would have been congratulated. This was not the case. In presence of her highest boss Cohen was she told that she was fired. The alleged fraud would have been committed when she cancelled orders that the clients ate or drank, thus Ramirez would have allegedly put the money in her own pocket. Ramirez denies to have committed fraud and is thinking of fighting her ficanceledring. Ramirez worked nine years in the Steakhouse at Manchebo.

This is just interesting (to me), I have no new information. Nothing deep here, so skip if you are in a hurry and in a time crunch.

Aduber and Wever burial crypts were pried open in the summer of 2005. Why?

It’s obvious that someone was searching for Natalee’s body and had a suspicion that she was located in one of these crypts. Surely their information and their drive for a reward were stronger than their fear of getting caught. I guess it would be a crime in Aruba to rob a grave, even though murder, rape, perjury, destruction of evidence, intimidating potential witnesses etc does not seem to be.

I’ve found some of my old stuff, but it is on my old laptop that my wife has, so I can’t tell you the date that the crypts were broken into I just can’t remember. Crossbow would know. Does anyone else know?

I’ll bet Aduber knows what happen to Natalee, and I’ll bet he knew before he gave Beth that fake and very insincere hug in the summer of 05.

There are so many mysteries here. No one will ever tell the truth. Joran has not and will never tell the unabridged truth, not ever to himself.

Will this truth eat at Joran, and devour him from the inside out, like a large and hungry tapeworm? Of course not. He does not care. He cares not for another person in the world with the exception of himself.

Misskatie: Joe Mammano was a mafioso who was sympathetic to the plight of young girls gone missing. If memory serves me, I think he gave something like $100G to Beth to help with the cause, and other assistance, and I think there was even a buzz about him offering to put a hit on Joran. It was very early on and I’ve forgotten the gist, tried looking it up on the internet but couldn’t find anything. But he did get sent to jail for some unrelated infraction, seemed he was to get 3 years, so I think he should be getting out soon. I was just wondering if other bloggers knew anything about him, and if he’s “sprung”.
