Ipswich Middle School Principal Fabrizio Cancels ‘Honors Night’ Because It Might Upset & Be “Devastating” to Students Who Didn’t Make The Grade

What is going on in out schools? The latest head scratching incident comes from Ipswich, Massachusetts. David Fabrizio, Ipswich Middle School Principal, has canceled ‘Honors Night’ because it might make some students feel uncomfortable and upset who did not make the grade. ARE YOU SERIOUS? David Fabrizio wrote in a letter sent to parents that, “honors night, which can be a great sense of pride for the recipients’ families, can also be devastating to a child …” INCREDIBLE.  Devastating to average students, are you friggin stupid? How about devastating to those who actually made the effort to succeed?  This is what passes as a principal into today’s liberal public schools. They care more about how some one feels who fails, rather than rewarding those who actually succeed. I would ask this foolish and misguided principal, why give grades? Schools are supposed to uplift students, not gum down the education to the lowest common denominator. Let’s celebrate underachieving, way to go Principal Fabrizio. Welcome to the Nanny state collective, where liberals think its only fair that all are treated the same, even though all do not put forth the same effort.

In a letter sent home to parents last week, Fabrizio said that it is the school’s job to monitor both academic and social emotional growth. Concentrating on grades, “as strange as it sounds, can impinge upon the learning process,” he wrote.

“The honors night, which can be a great sense of pride for the recipients’ families, can also be devastating to a child who has worked extremely hard in a difficult class but who, despite growth, has not been able to maintain a high grade point average,” Fabrizio wrote.

Fabrizio emphasized that the school hasn’t ended honors recognition and that it believes in high achievement in all aspects of students’ lives.

“We are still honoring success, we are just doing it in a different form,” he said.

However, the idea of ending honors night isn’t sitting well with many parents.

“I think the school should be committed to excellence and not mediocrity,” Gillis said. “I was shocked because to get on the honor roll, you have to work hard. They shouldn’t cancel (honors night) because somebody’s feelings could be hurt. Life is a competition, and they should start competing.”

Kevin Whooley, who has a daughter in eighth grade, said many parents are “dumbfounded” as to why the honors night needed to be canceled.

“They have had honors night here for years, and there is no reason not to continue it,” he said. “It is like having a sports banquet for those who play sports. Not everyone makes honors. You can’t be politically correct about everything.”

I remember a world, not too long ago, where schools rewarded students who showed effort and success. I remember an academic environment when those who went the extra mile were rewarded for their merit. Not in today’s Middle School academia. What a message this sends to an impressionable child at such a young age … STRIVE TO BE AVERAGE.

Just curious … wouldn’t it be more devastating to the so-called average students if the smart kids got their awards in front of them at an assembly in front of the whole school, rather than a special night of just the honor’s students? The principals explanation of why he made this change makes no sense other than the fact that he must feel its not fair for some kids to get awards and others not. A note to Principal Fabrizio, life is not fair and you are doing none of these students any favors.

A Republican Maryland lawmaker, Sen. J.B. Jennings, has introduced a bill following the ridiculous suspension of a 7 year old boy who shaped a pastry into what a teacher had presumed to be a gun. Because we all know that guns made of pastry are lethal. The bill that would prohibit schools from suspending students for seemingly harmless childish acts, such as playing games with fingers pointed like guns or chewing food into the shape of a firearm. In other words the bill would prevent teachers and school administrators from acting like dumb asses.

Sen. J. B. Jennings, R-7-Baltimore and Harford counties said that “We really need to reevaluate how kids are punished.” Hopefully, this will put some type of common sense and a dent in the “zero tolerance” discipline policies in Maryland public schools. The days of ruining a child’s life over ‘Hello Kitty’ bubble guns, pastry guns, playing “save the world” and playing with imaginary weapons of pointing your finger and thumb like a gun need to end and end now!

From kids getting kicked out of school for playing games with fingers pointed like guns on the Eastern Shore, to chewing their breakfast pastry into “gun-like” shapes in Baltimore, Jennings said the local trend is getting worse not better. “These kids can’t comprehend what they are doing or the ramifications of their actions,” he said. “These suspensions are going on their permanent records and could have lasting effects on their educations.” The bill, entitled “Education [-] The Reasonable School Discipline Act of 2013,” proposes what Jennings called in his press release clear, straightforward guidelines on what is and what is not acceptable when handling matters that amount to “children being children.” The bill describes appropriate discipline that must be adhered to during counseling students of all grade levels in any Maryland school that uses public funds, stated Jennings. The bill includes a counseling and disciplinary protocol for violations by school administrators. According to Jennings, another of the bill’s provisions makes it impossible for minor incidents, such as those in the recent news, from being entered into the students’ permanent academic record, unless it involves an upper-school student intent on repeatedly violating school policies with regards to firearms and/or violence.

How sad is it that we have reached a level of political correctness and stupidity that we would have to pass such a law?

Good Grief … Michigan Elementary School Confiscates 3rd Graders “Insensitive” Cupcakes Because They Were Decorated With Plastic Toy Soldiers

The insanity and anti-gun hysteria continues in our public schools. This time it is a Michigan Elementary School that confiscated a 3rd graders cupcakes because they were decorated with plastic green toy soldiers. The cupcakes that were supposed to be a birthday treat were confiscated because the toy soldiers had guns. The school deemed this “insensitive”. Sorry for the pun, but what kind of “candy-a$$es” are we raising in today’s schools? The politically correct nonsense is a joke and beyond ridiculous. OMG, those green plastic Army men were one of my favorite toys growing up. Now they are considered “insensitive”. Maybe these school Administrators should be categorized as “insane”. However, I guess the mother who made the evil cupcakes should look on the bright side, at least her son was not suspended for this terrible act.

A Michigan elementary school is defending its decision to confiscate a third-graders batch of homemade cupcakes because the birthday treats were decorated with plastic green Army soldiers. Casey Fountain told Fox News that the principal of his son’s elementary school called the cupcakes “insensitive” — in light of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. “It disgusted me,” he said. “It’s vile they lump true American heroes with psychopathic killers.” Fountain’s wife made a batch of 30 chocolate cupcakes for their son Hunter’s classmates at School Elementary School in the town of Caro. The 9-year-old helped decorate the treats with plastic figurines representing World War Two soldiers.

Political Correctness has gotten out of hand. It is simply amazing that we as a society cannot differentiate good from evil. I guess cupcakes with carpenters or baseball players would be banned as well since they might be carrying hammers and bats?

Fountain said it was beyond outrageous to compare American soldiers to deranged mass murderers. “In our politically correct society they can’t separate the good from the bad,” he said. ”I’m sure hammers are allowed in schools — although a lot of people are killed by hammers.” Principal Wright explained in her statement that she meant no disrespect to the military. “By not permitting toy soldiers on cupcakes at school, no disrespect for our military or for the brave men and women who defend our rights to have our differences was intended,” she wrote. “Our commitment is always to our children and creating a safe place for them to learn, grow and have respectful dialogues about their differences.”

The Last Refuge reminds us of the lunacy in the Maryland schools where they dispatched counselors to evaluate the psychological damage from a child nibbling a Pop-Tart into the shape of a gun. GOOD GRIEF!!!

Last week during the National Prayer Breakfast, neurosurgeon Dr. Benjamin Carson criticized President Barack Obama, Obamacare  and the governments intrusion in healthcare. All the while as President Obama sat in the audience. It is too bad that Obama could probably not hear a word of what this educated man was saying. After listening to Dr. Benjamin Carson all I could take from him is why is not this man the president of the United States? His discussion on the dangers of “political correctness”. He stated PC was dangerous as it because the unanimity of speech and though is bad. This country was founded on freedom or thought and freedom of expression. PC muzzles people and keeps people from discussing important issues. With Obama less than 5 feet away, Dr. Carson criticized Obamacare and encouraged a program where newborn babies are given health savings account as an alternative to Obamacare.

If you have never watched one YouTube video, you need to watch this one.It is fascinating, informational and inspirational. Carson’s discussion on education is tremendous. Think back to slavery, it was illegal to educate a slave. Why was that? Because,  to educate a man, liberates a man. Amen brother. What he is talking about is to have a public educated, so that they never become victims and dependent upon a government.

Simply amazing, as Barack Obama looked on, Carson basically dismantled Obama’s class warfare and “fairness” doctrine before his very eyes. Oh to have really known what Obama was thinking as Carson ripped Obama’s ridiculous and divisive ”hurt the rich” and “class warfare” … “Some people say, ‘Well that’s not fair because it doesn’t hurt the guy who made $10 billion as much as the guy who made 10.’ Where does it say you’ve got to hurt the guy? He just put a billion dollars in the pot”.

CARSON: Here’s my solution: When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record, and a health savings account to which money can be contributed — pretax — from the time you’re born ’til the time you die. When you die, you can pass it on to your family members, so that when you’re 85 years old and you got six diseases, you’re not trying to spend up everything. You’re happy to pass it on and there’s nobody talking about death panels. Number one. And also, for the people who were indigent who don’t have any money we can make contributions to their HSA each month because we already have this huge pot of money. Instead of sending it to some bureaucracy, let’s put it in their HSAs. Now they have some control over their own health care.

 It is really too bad that this man is not more prominent than he is. His thoughts and vision is remarkable. He is an individual who should be considered a hero, not sports athletes , singers or actors. This man is the real deal. Carson’s role model was Jesus.  Dr. Benjamin Carson for President!!!

UPDATE I: Looks like the LEFT considers Dr. Carson a racist for daring to question and criticize Obama, the first black president. Oh Wait, Dr. Carson is a man of color as well.

The Libs at CNN did not take too much time in trying to attack Dr. Benjamin Carson for his comments and come to the aid of their liberal savior and daddy, President Barack Hussein Obama. As reported at Mediaite,  on Sunday, the panel guests on CNN’s State of the Union weighed in on whether it was appropriate for Carson to use the forum of the prayer breakfast to advocate for free market reforms to healthcare and a flat tax code. What’s the matter, the liberal and bias MSM cannot stand some one calling out Obama’s divisive, class warfare doctrine? Especially when the individual who did it was black? I guess this makes Dr. Carson a racist. Isn’t anyone who dares differ with Obama considered a racist? How sad that Democrats just not get the message that its better to teach an individual to fish, rather than just give some one fish. The fact that the Democrat on the panel made this about partisan politics, rather than the common sense that Dr. Carson was espousing just shows what Democrats are really after … class warfare and a dependent government class of people who are uneducated and forced to remain on the Democrat plantation.

Crowley turned to Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and asked if she found “anything offensive” in Carson’s speech.

“I think that there is a political correctness that he was trying to use to appeal to a conservative audience,” Schakowsky said. “I think it’s really not really an appropriate place to make this kind of political speech and to invoke God as his support for that kind of view.”

Schakowsky concluded by saying that Carson’s message displayed an “empathy gap” between where the American propel are and where Carson, and other conservatives, want the nation to go. “We need to have an economy that works for everyone,” she concluded.

Ft Hood Murdering Radical Islamist Army Maj. Nidal Hasan Barred from Court Because of Beard

Who finds this just a tad bit ridiculous that Hasan is barred from court because his beard is against Army regulations, yet being a radical Muslim was ok to remain in the Army?

Maj. Nidal Hasan, the Ft. Hood jihadist who is on trial and charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the 2009has been barred from the court room by a military judge because of his beard. All during the trial,  Hasan has watched his trial from a nearby room.

A military judge ruled Friday against delaying the trial of the Fort Hood shooting suspect, an Army psychiatrist who remains banned from the courtroom because his beard violates Army regulations.

Maj. Nidal Hasan’s trial will proceed as scheduled, beginning on Aug. 20. Defense attorneys wanted the trial moved to December, saying they needed more time to prepare.

But the judge, Col. Gregory Gross, said the defense already had plenty of time. Prosecutors had indicated they were ready for trial last fall, but the court-martial was set for March and postponed first to June and then August — all at the request of the defense team.

Hasan faces the death penalty if convicted of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the 2009 attack.

Actually, Joy to the World, the Lord has Come is rated the #1 holiday as most Americans consider Jesus the son of God .

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 67% of American Adults consider Christmas one of the nation’s most important holidays, showing little change from last year and consistent with surveys stretching back to December 2006. Only six percent (6%) see Christmas as one of the least important holidays, while 24% rate it somewhere in between.

Of the 88% of Americans who celebrate Christmas 81% celebrate it as a religious holiday. What a novel concept, celebrating Christmas as the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ and not in a secular manner. In a further backlash against the PC police, secularists, those who wage the war against Christmas and those who have no concept of separation of Church and State, 79% of Americans say that religious holidays should be celebrated in public schools. Also, 70% of Americans prefer ‘Merry Christmas’ over ‘Happy Holidays’ on store signs which can explain the reason why more stores are making the effort to do so.

The PC folks and those who wage a war on all religion are about to face a backlash and swing of the pendulum. More and more Americans are fed up with the secularists as 79% see “Political Correctness” as a serious problem in America. War on Christmas … Rhode Island Outraged Over Gov. Lincoln Chafee’s “Holiday Tree”

Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee, the Grinch who stole “Christmas” from the Christmas tree.

Yet another foolish PC politician and the war on Christmas. Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee decided to call the state tree a “holiday” tree and not what it obviously is, a Christmas tree.  Just curious Gov. Chaffee, what would you call a Menorah at the State House, holiday candle sticks?

A Rhode Island lawmaker is calling Gov. Lincoln Chafee “Governor Grinch” after he defied lawmakers and decided that the state would have a “holiday tree” instead of a “Christmas tree.”

The governor defended his decision by arguing that it is in keeping with the state’s founding in 1636 by religious dissident Roger Williams as a haven for tolerance – where government and religion were kept separate.

Question: Dear foolish mr. Governor, you know how you know it is a “CHRISTMAS TREE”?

Answer: The tree was donated to the state by Big John Leyden’s Christmas Tree Farm in West Greenwich, RI. What part about Christmas tree farm don’t you quite understand?
