Jesse Jackson Jr. Intends to Plead Guilty to Federal Charges of Illegal Use of $750,000 in Campaign Funds

More Chicago style politics … Jesse Jackson Jr. plans to plead guilty to misusing campaign funds.

Former Democrat Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. (IL-D) and his wife  Sandi intend to plead guilty to federal charges of the misuse of $750,000 of campaign funds. Jackson was charged with spending about $750,000 of campaign funds on personal purchases, making false statements and wire and mail fraud.  Federal authorities allege that Jackson Jr. used campaign funds to purchase a $43,350 men’s gold-plated Rolex watch, $5,150 worth of fur capes and parkas, and $9,588 in children’s furniture.  What a stand up kind guy, the misuse of funds does not stop there. He also purchased with campaign funds $10,105 on Bruce Lee memorabilia, $11,130 on Martin Luther King memorabilia and $22,700 on Michael Jackson items, including $4,600 for a “Michael Jackson fedora. It is not like this was a one time deal of the misuse of funds, the purchases were made between 2007 and 2009. He faces up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines. What are the odds he gets a slap on the wrist?

Jesse Jackson Jr. will be saying good bye from politics for a while with a little illegal campaign finance issue

Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife Sandi intend to plead guilty to federal charges alleging the former congressman misused $750,000 in campaign funds while she understated their income on  tax returns for six years, their lawyers say.

Jackson Jr., 47, a Democrat from Chicago, was charged in a criminal information Friday with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, mail fraud and false statements. He faces up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and other penalties.

Sandi Jackson was charged with one count of filing false tax returns. She faces up to three years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and other penalties.

Jackson Jr. is accused of diverting $750,000 in campaign funds for personal use.

I guess this can explain why Jesse Jackson Jr. was in rehab for such a long period of time. Jackson was trying to be cured of “Misuse of Campaign Funditis”.

UPDATE I: In a statement, Jackson Jr. said: [editors note: the are sorry they got caught]

“Over the course of my life I have come to realize that none of us are immune from our share of shortcomings and human frailties. Still I offer no excuses for my conduct and I fully accept my responsibility for the improper decisions and mistakes I have made. To that end I want to offer my sincerest apologies to my family, my friends and all of my supporters for my errors in judgment and while my journey is not yet complete, it is my hope that I am remembered for the things that I did right.”

Sandi Jackson’s attorneys released a statement saying she “has accepted responsibility for her conduct, is deeply sorry for her actions, and looks forward to putting this matter behind her and her family. She is thankful for the support of her family and friends during this very difficult time.”

Shameful Obama PAC Ad Blames Romney for Killing Steel Workers Joe Soptic’s Wife to Cancer … Obama Has Gone Way to Far This Time as Ad is 100% False

Obama and Democrats never let the facts get in the way of a rotten, vicious attack political ad … From Hope and Change to vile, false political ads and Campaign/Super PAC collusion.

What else would a Barack Obama and and a pro-Barack Obama super PAC Priorities USA do but viciously blame others for something? The shameful, negative and reprehensible ad from an Obama PAC blames Mitt Romney for the death of a steel workers wife from cancer because the business went belly-up. Sounds bad on the surface, eh … to bad that is only the tip of the iceberg of facts. When the ad is fact checked, there are not enough Pinocchio’s available to give to this false ad.

Forget the fact that Romney was no longer at Bain Capital when the GST Steel plant closed in 2001, but the facts in this disgusting ad get much worse as the facts do not come close to the shameful political ad. We learned yesterday that Joe Soptic’s wife had her own insurance through her job. Let alone his wife passed away five years after the plant closed.

A SuperPAC run by former Obama spokesman Bill Burton accused Mitt Romney of killing a woman because she lost insurance when her husband’s job was terminated.

CNN has blown this ad apart, finding that the woman continued to have health insurance through her own employer after her husband was terminated.

So how does Soptic show up in a political ad for Obama and yet suddenly shows up in a super-PAC ad and the two claim that there was no coordination between the Obama campaign and the Super PAC? Hmm? Even though there are taped conference calls. Cutter

But wait it gets even worse if possible. As reported at the Gateway Pundit, Bain capital actually offered Joe Soptic a buy out before the plant closed in 2001. Wow, those evil bastards at Bain actually offered a buy out to employees for a company going under. How heartless of Bain Capital.

Oh wait, there is even more, if possible. Soptic was then employed after he lost his job at GST Steel, but chose not to insure his wife through his plan. Good grief, how is any of this Romney’s fault.

Mr. Soptic said that his wife was receiving health insurance through her employer at the time he lost his job at GST Steel, though she later suffered an injury, left her job and lost her insurance coverage. He could not say precisely when this occurred.

Mr. Soptic said that after he lost his job, he found work as a school custodian about six months later and had the option to put her on his insurance plan. But he opted not to, he said, because he could not afford the more than $350 monthly premium on the $25,000 salary he was making, on top of paying his mortgage and a daughter’s college tuition. Ilyona Soptic was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 and died that year.

Is it a tragic story, Yes. However, the shameful and what appears to be organized and coordinated attack by the Obama administration and Obama Super PAC is as shameful and illegal as it gets. As reported at the Politico, Team Obama denies knowing story of man in its TV ad, call. Really? As stated at Michele Malkin.com, these folks are either lying or have short memories, you make the call. Breitbart opts with lying.

Soptic, laid off from Bain Capital-owned GST Steel, stars in a Priorities USA Action spot this week in which he tells of how his wife died without health insurance after he lost his job. Soptic also appeared, wearing what appears to be an identical shirt, in a May television ad for the Obama campaign.

Asked about the Priorities spot on MSNBC Wednesday morning, Robert Gibbs said he doesn’t “know the specifics” while Stephanie Cutter said on CNN: “I don’t know the facts about when Mr. Soptic’s wife got sick or the facts about his health insurance.”

And Jen Psaki told reporters on Air Force One that “we don’t’ have any knowledge of the story of the family,” according to Yahoo! News.

But Cutter hosted an Obama campaign conference call in May in which Soptic told reporters the very story featured in the Priorities spot.

Both the campaign and the Priorities USA Action said there was no coordination about Soptic’s appearances. In the campaign’s ad, Soptic speaks only about the plant. In the Priorities spot, he tells the personal story he relayed during the Obama campaign conference call.

“We have no idea when Priorities shot their spot,” an Obama campaign official said. “We’re not allowed to coordinate with them – but we can tell you it wasn’t when we shot ours.”

The aide didn’t answer questions about when the Obama campaign shot its Soptic footage or explain Cutter’s televised statement.
