It’s Official, Florida State Seminoles and Auburn Tigers will Battle for Final BCS National Championship

The BCS 2013 National Championship Game … The Tomahawk chop vs. War Eagle!

Tonight we had it confirmed what we all pretty much knew after yesterday’s convincing win by Auburn over Missouri in the SEC Championship game and the predictable win by the Michigan State Spartans over the over-rated and fraud #2 rated Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship game … The Florida State Seminoles will play the #2 Auburn Tigers will play each other in the final BCS Championship Game in the Rose Bowl on January 6, 2014.

Auburn outscoring Missouri 59-42 in the SEC Championship Game and ran for an amazing 545 yards on route to their win. Then later that night, Sparty proved what many knew, except for the AP and USA Today pollsters, that the Ohio St. Buckeyes were an unproven joke and an over-rated football team that had literally played no body, in a weak Big Ten conference. Michigan State scored the first 17, gave up the next 24 and then scored the final 17, in a going away victory 34-24. The sad reality is, that if Ohio St. had actually come back and found a way to win this game ugly by 1 or 2 points, the pollsters would have most likely made them #2 because some how going undefeated against inferior teams and barely eking out wins against down teams in the Big Ten is more impressive than a team winning the championship of the best conference in the land and beating  the #1 two-time defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide, #5 Missouri, #7 Texas A&M, # 24 Ole Miss, #25 Georgia and had just one loss to the #6 LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge.

For Florida State it was a cake walk as predicted for the #1 Seminoles as they crushed Duke in the ACC Championship game, 45-7. The Seminoles have won this year by an insane average of 42 points per game. However, does that tell us about FSU, or more about the lack of talent that they played in a weak ACC?

After weeks of conjecture and debate about strength of schedule, the matchup for the VIZIO BCS National Championship turned out to be an obvious one.

No. 1 Florida State and No. 2 Auburn top the final BCS standings and will play for the national title Jan. 6 in Pasadena, Calif.

The regular season had set up the possibility for a controversial BCS title game with one-loss Auburn on the outside looking in at unbeaten but less-tested Florida State and Ohio State, but Michigan State took the Buckeyes out of the conversation by winning the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Auburn moved up to the second spot in the standings by outscoring Missouri 59-42 in the SEC Championship Game.

Now the title game is set: Florida State, the nation’s only undefeated team, will face 12-1 Auburn, champion of the conference that has won the past seven national championships.

In the end, there can be only one, and for all of the criticism and controversy created by the BCS … this year they got it right and the two best teams and the two hottest teams at year’s end are playing for the crystal.

The Bizarre Story of Manti Teo’s Fake/Deceased Girlfriend Lennay Kekua May Have been Solved … Ronaiah Tuiasosopo Confesses He is the Low Life Who Conned Manti Te’o

The fake/deceased girlfriend Lennay Kekua of Notre Dame’s LB Manti Teo may have finally come to a conclusion … Ronaiah Tuiasosopo is involved in scamming Notre Dame star Manti Te’o.

The fake, deceased, back from the dead, Internet hoax girlfriend  Lennay Kekua of Notre Dame’s LB Manti Teo has been one of the most bizarre stories to come down the pike in quite some time. Was Te’o scammed or was he involved in on the hoax? From the initial story, reported byDeadspin,  I have actually not posted on this for a reason and that was in order to have the facts come out, rather than speculation and unidentified sources coming forward and making comments for their own self-serving reasons. After all the shock over this story and speculation that Manti Te’o may have been involved in the hoax, it appears that TMZ has tracked down the culprit. The Manti Te’o not-really-dead-girlfriend hoax was perpetuated by a man named Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, who served as a representative for the family of the fake “Lennay Kekua”.

VIDEO: Tuiasosopo confessed to being the mastermind behind a hoax involving former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o and his fake-deceased girlfriend Lennay Kekua.

From VIDEO above, according to ESPN,  Tuiasosopo also said he pulled off similar hoaxes on different people.

TMZ reported:

The Manti Te’o not-really-dead-girlfriend hoax was perpetuated by a man named Ronaiah Tuiasosopo — who served as a representative for the family of the fake “Lennay Kekua” … and TMZ has the photo proof.

Here’s what we know …

While Manti was “dating” Lennay … a Notre Dame die-hard fan who we’ll call “Jan” (to protect her identity) reached out to Lennay on Twitter and began an online friendship.

After Lennay’s supposed death, Jan became involved with a group called “Wear a Lei 4 Manti” — in which fans wore Hawaiian leis to ND football games to show their support for the football star.

When the “Wear a Lei 4 Manti” movement began to receive media attention, Jan says she noticed she gained a Twitter follower named U’ilani Rae Kekua.

Jan tells TMZ … she reached out to U’ilani and asked if she was related to Lennay — to which U’ilani replied, “Yes, that’s my baby sister.” The two became friends.

In fact, Jan says they both mentioned how they were going to attend the Notre Dame vs. USC game in L.A. on November 24, 2012 … so Jan sent U’ilani her cell phone number in case she wanted to meet up.

Here’s where the story takes a turn … Jan tells TMZ she got a phone call from U’ilani on the day of the game directing her to the famous Tommy Trojan statue in front of the stadium, so they could meet up.

But when Jan arrived to the statue, U’ilani was NOT there … but guess who was — Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. Jan and Ronaiah even took a photo together (see above). (Read the full story at TMZ).

Many have questioned how a story like this could ever happen, it’s just not believable that anyone could allow this to happen to them. This is why we never posted or commented on the story initially. In this day and age I actually thought it was completely believable that it could. Today’s kids live on line in social networking, twitter and Facebook. It is almost as if physical relationships are not the norm. Although I would say that there is this thing called Skype where one could see one in real time. That being said, SM learned a long time ago there is a dirty underbelly of the Internet and there are some real heinous individuals on it that will say and claim everything and anything.

We still must wait for Manti Te’o to speak about this in his own words no matter how embarrassing it may be. In order for him to move on, he must give his accounts of what happened.

ESPN Apologizes for Brent Musburger’s Comments About Miss Alabama Katherine Webb During BCS Champ Broadcast … “You quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women. What a beautiful woman… Whoa!”

HOW ABSOLUTELY SILLY … So this is where a PC and all too often offended America has come to … we have to apologize for stating  the obvious when a girl is beautiful, REALLY?

Ans the real winner of the 2012 BCS National Championship Game … Alabama Katherine Webb.

OK, Brent might have come close to crossing county lines, but he just barely avoided entering creepsville. America, some times we just have to laugh as I hardly believe long time sports announcer icon Brent Musberger meant anything malicious by his comments regarding Webb’s beauty. But that did not stop the overly sensitive and often offended libs at ESPN.   ESPN has apologized for veteran sports announcer Brent Musberger’s comments during the BCS Championship game between the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. During the broadcast that needed some thing to keep people’s interest as the game was out of hand in the first 5 minutes, Musberger made comments regarding Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron’s rather beautiful girlfriend Katherine Webb. The Bama beauty is a 2011 Auburn graduate and Miss Alabama. Needless to say the video went viral.

“You quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women. What a beautiful woman… Whoa!”

However, on Tuesday, ESPN responded to the commentary with an apology:

“We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that.”

Apologize? The 73 year old Musberger made Miss Webb an over night sensation and as Katherine Webb gains 175000 Twitter followers in one night. I think it goes to show just how bad this BCS National Championship game really was. No one is talking about Alabama’s dominate victory 42-14. Nor do they care that Notre Dame decided not to show up and was overwhelmingly over matched. All of the talk is about Katherine Webb. I hardly think that an apology is in order if the one who was being talked about did not mind the comments. Lighten up ESPN.

“It’s been actually kind of fun,” the 23-year-old model and Miss Alabama USA 2012 told The Associated Press.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” said Webb, who, according to her pageant biography, graduated with a business degree from Alabama rival Auburn University in 2011. “I was just in complete surprise.”

Dee Dee Bonner, McCarron’s mother, said the two laughed as Webb’s Twitter count grew.

“We were like, `Oh my God,”‘ Bonner said. “She said, `All I want to do is date your son.’ We’ve been laughing about it. It’s quite shocking.”

Note to ESPN … Katherine Webb is a beautiful young woman and a college grad … no apologies needed!

UPDATE I:  Katherine Webb even came out and said that Musburger’s comments didn’t bother her.

“It was kind of nice,” she said. “I didn’t look at it as creepy at all. For a woman to be called beautiful, I don’t see how that’s an issue.”

Newsflash to ESPN … Miss Alabama Katherine Webb is beautiful and I am sure that many boys have taken Brent’s advice and put down their video games and started throwing the pigskin in the back yard. Sorry, but I could see another famed sports announcer Keith Jackson saying … “Whoa Nellie!!!”

If ESPN wants an apology, maybe they should ask one from the Golden Domer’s of Notre Dame for not bothering to show up for the BCS National Championship game and I am an ND fan.

EXIT QUESTION … Who was more offended, those that heard Musberger’s comments regarding Katherine Webb or Notre Dame’s play on the field and the obvios lack of coaching, preparation and a game plan for the BCS Championship?

UPDATE II: Yea, this was just so terrible what Brent Musberger did, that’s why Donald Tmp has now asked the Alabama beauty to be a judge for his Miss USA contest.

Jadeveon Clowney Hit Heard around the New Years Day Bowls … Clowney Crushes Michigan RB as South Carolina Wins 2013 Outback Bowl

HELLO … Jadeveon Clowney, he’s a bad man … This is what separates the SEC from the rest of the NCAA, the tremendous athletes on defense.

If you have not seen the hit yet, by all means check out the video below of Jadeveon Clowney’s hit heard around the New Years Day Bowls. Clowney, the South Carolina Gamecock DE not only made the hit of the New Years Day bowls, but the hit of the college football year.  An unsuspecting University of Michigan Wolverine running back Vincent Smith took a hand-off and was immediately blown up by Clowney’s amazing hit.. The result,  Smith’s helmet flew off and bounced nearly ten yards. Smith also fumbled  the ball and Clowney recovered the ball at Michigan’s 31 yard line.

The play turned the game around. After a poor ref call on a Michigan fake punt, Clowney took matters into his own hands and jacked up the Wolverine RB and reghtfully giving the ball back to SC, who should have been given the ball on downs on the previous play. This set up the Gamecocks to score just one play later with a pass to Ace Sanders, giving the Gamecocks a five point lead. The 10th ranked Gamecocks would win 33-28 on a late TD pass with just 11 seconds left in the game to win the 2013 Outback Bowl.

Manti Te’o Gets the Hat Trick Tonight: Notre Dame LB Wins the Walter Camp Award, the Maxwell Award & the Bednarik Award … Next Up the Hesiman Award

HUGE NIGHT FOR MANTI TE’O: Manti Te’o … Manti Te’o  … Manti Te’o!!!

This is the stuff that dreams are made of …  Manti Te’o, the Notre Dame senior linebacker and the heart and soul of  the #1 ranked Fighting Irish won came up big this evening as he won not one award, not two, but three national awards for most outstanding college football player. Te’o won the Bednarik Award for the best defensive player of the year beating out  defensive stand outs Jadeveon Clowney from South Carolina and Georgia’s Jarvis Jones. But that was only the beginning. Te’o had earlier won the Walter Camp Award from the Walter Camp Football Foundation, beating out Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein, USC receiver Marqise Lee and Oregon running back Kenjon Barner. The Fighting Irish senior becomes only the third defensive player to win the award. However, Te’o was not done. To top the night off in style, ND’s Manti Te’o was then named the winner of the Maxwell Award, given to the college football player of the year. Te’o could not be a more deserving and humble recipient. Te’o not only has the talent, he has all of the intangibles including leadership that makes him more valuable than any stats. He has the “IT” factor.  Much like with Tim Tebow, Te’o makes everyone around him better.

Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o won the Walter Camp national player of the year award, the Maxwell Award for player of the year and the Bednarik Award, given to the nation’s most outstanding defensive player, on Thursday night.

The Walter Camp award, announced by the Walter Camp Football Foundation before the College Football Awards show, is voted on by the 124 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors.

Te’o beat out the other Walter Camp finalists, Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein, USC receiver Marqise Lee and Oregon running back Kenjon Barner.

The Fighting Irish senior is the third defensive player to win and fourth Notre Dame player to be selected.

Te’o also beat out Manziel and Klein for the Maxwell Award. The same three players are up for the Heisman Trophy, to be announced Saturday.

Manti Te’o has become the face of not only Notre Dame football, but this year the face of NCAA college football. Te’o did not have to come back to college this year, but he wanted to experience his senior year at Notre Dame and finish what he started. And finish he did. The Irish this year are undefeated, ranked #1 in the country and for the first time in 25 years are relevant. The Fighting Irish will be playing the Alabama Crimson Tide for the BCS Championship this year in an attempt to break the SEC streak of championships. Te’o has been the unmistakable heart, soul and inspirational leader of Notre Dame and in many respects has transcended college football and become the favored son of Notre Dame, its fans, alumni and students. His seven interceptions and key game changing tackles have only been enhanced by his humanity. As much as Te’o has given to ND, it was earlier this year during the season when the unthinkable happened and Te’o suddenly found himself in need of the love and support of ND nation. In the same week his grandmother and girlfriend died. Te’o played that weekend helping the Irish win as the ND students wore leis in solidarity and support for their beloved linebacker.

Boom, Boom Boom, Let me hear you say Te’o!!!

Earlier this week,  Te’o picked up more hardware by winning the Lombardi Award as the nation’s top lineman or linebacker. He also won the Nagurski Award for the top defensive player and the Butkus Award as the best linebacker. It is hard to believe that after this tremendous year and all the awards won by Te’o that he is not the front-runner to win the Heisman Award. We shall see this Saturday night.
