BREXIT … ITS OFFICIAL, BRITAIN VOTES TO LEAVE EU!!!
The will of the people … In a historic decision, Britain has voted to leave the European Union by a 52% to 48% margin.
Britain has voted to leave the European Union, a historic decision sure to reshape the nation’s place in the world, rattle the Continent and rock political establishments throughout the West.
Not long after the vote tally was completed, Prime Minister David Cameron, who led the campaign to remain in the bloc, appeared in front of 10 Downing Street to announce that he planned to step down by October, saying the country deserved a leader committed to carrying out the will of the people.
The stunning turn of events was accompanied by a plunge in the financial markets, with the value of the British pound and stock prices plummeting.
The margin of victory startled even proponents of a British exit. The “Leave” campaign won by 52 percent to 48 percent. More than 17.4 million people voted in the referendum on Thursday to sever ties with the European Union, and about 16.1 million to remain in the bloc.
UPDATE I: PM David Cameron to step down.
David Cameron has resigned, bringing an abrupt end to his six-year premiership, after the British public took the momentous decision to reject his entreaties and turn their back on the European Union.
Just a year after he clinched a surprise majority in the general election, a visibly emotional Cameron, standing outside Number 10 on Friday morning alongside his wife, Samantha, said: “The will of the British people is an instruction that must be delivered.”
The prime minister campaigned hard in the divisive referendum on Britain’s relationship with the EU, appearing at hundreds of public events up and down the country to argue that Brexit would be an act of “economic self-harm”.
But a frustrated electorate used the poll to reject the status quo, and, as the Ukip leader, Nigel Farage, described it, “stick two fingers up” at Britain’s politicians.
“I was absolutely clear about my belief that Britain is stronger, safer and better off inside the EU. I made clear the referendum was about this, and this alone, not the future of any single politician, including myself.
“But the British people made a different decision to take a different path. As such I think the country requires fresh leadership to take it in this direction,” Cameron said.
This is most likely just the start, its only a matter of time before other countries have their own referendums and take their countries back.
STEPPING DOWN …
Rachel Dolezal, the woman who faked her racial identity, has resigned as the president of the NAACP Spokane chapter. Rachel Dolezal portrayed herself as a black woman; however, she was outed by her parents as being white. Much of her past was made up. Her estranged parents told reporters last week that she is “Caucasian by birth,” with Czech, Swedish, German and a trace of Native American ancestry, even though she has been representing herself as black for years. The revelation that the Spokane NAACP chapter president was in fact white only had one conclusion. THIS WAS IT. You pretty much knew the handwriting was on the wall when Dolezal was scheduled to address the matter at a chapter meeting on Monday night, but the meeting was postponed.
So how much of this resignation was internal pressure? They can say all the right things externally, but as one can plainly see from the VIDEO below, there were some if not many who were openly upset that a white woman dare pass herself off as black. The activists stated, “I am sorry, you may not copy ‘MY’ people’s struggle.” So why is it being reported that she faked her racial identity, rather than she feels like she is a black woman? Hmm, isn’t that bigoted?
Dear Executive Committee and NAACP Members,
It is a true honor to serve in the racial and social justice movement here in Spokane and across the nation. Many issues face us now that drive at the theme of urgency. Police brutality, biased curriculum in schools, economic disenfranchisement, health inequities, and a lack of pro-justice political representation are among the concerns at the forefront of the current administration of the Spokane NAACP. And yet, the dialogue has unexpectedly shifted internationally to my personal identity in the context of defining race and ethnicity.
I have waited in deference while others expressed their feelings, beliefs, confusions and even conclusions – absent the full story. I am consistently committed to empowering marginalized voices and believe that many individuals have been heard in the last hours and days that would not otherwise have had a platform to weigh in on this important discussion. Additionally, I have always deferred to the state and national NAACP leadership and offer my sincere gratitude for their unwavering support of my leadership through this unexpected firestorm. [...]
It is with complete allegiance to the cause of racial and social justice and the NAACP that I step aside from the Presidency and pass the baton to my Vice President, Naima Quarles-Burnley. It is my hope that by securing a beautiful office for the organization in the heart of downtown, bringing the local branch into financial compliance, catalyzing committees to do strategic work in the five Game Changer issues, launching community forums, putting the membership on a fast climb, and helping many individuals find the legal, financial and practical support needed to fight race-based discrimination, I have positioned the Spokane NAACP to buttress this transition.
From Cornell William Brooks, NAACP President & CEO:
“The NAACP is not concerned with the racial identity of our leadership but the institutional integrity of our advocacy. Our focus must be on issues not individuals. Ms. Rachel Dolezal has decided to resign to ensure that the Spokane branch remains focused on fighting for civil and human rights. This resignation today comes amidst the real work of the NAACP and the real challenges to our democracy. (more)
Looks like NBC is trying to give Lying Brian Williams the squeeze …
According to The Politico, NBC News brass is trying to shame suspended news anchor Brian Williams into resigning. One of those not so good stories regarding Williams was that according to their internal investigation, Williams appears to have embellished reporting stories at least 11 times.
Longtime broadcast executives say a triple crown of leaks about Brian Williams late last week appear to be an effort by NBC News to shame him into resigning, to avoid the messiness and possible additional expense of the firing. The brutal leaks were designed to send the message to Brian Williams and his superlawyer, Robert Barnett: “You’re dead. Now negotiate.”
This is the effect of the leaks, if not the intention. NBC insiders say his return is still possible. Look for a resolution over the next several weeks.
Williams was reported to be under a contract of as much as $50 million (five years, at up to $10 million each). Speculation is that he’ll get $20 million to $30 million to leave. The $20 million camp says that he’s so weak, he’ll get less than 50 cents on the dollar. The $30 million camp says Brian has plenty of ways to embarrass the bosses and colleagues who threw him under the bus, and NBC should stop the bleeding/leaking. “He knows things, too,” a wise man pointed out.
- WashPost’s Paul Farhi reported on the front of Friday’s Style section, “NBC’s D.C. news bureau opposed Brian Williams’s return as anchor” (online: … D.C. bureau strongly opposed … Williams’s return in February”)
- NYT’s Ravi Somaiya reported above fold of Saturday’s Business front (with A1 tease), “NBC Inquiry Into Anchor Is Said to Get New Grist”: “[Discrepancies are evident in accounts given by Mr. Williams in February 2011 [about his reporting from Egypt’s Tahrir Square] … In an appearance that month with Jon Stewart on ‘The Daily Show,’ Mr. Williams described his reporting from the square. …
- “Subsequent reports said that Mr. Williams was reporting ‘from a balcony overlooking Tahrir Square,’ rather than from inside the square itself … [E]mployees in the news division provided examples for the investigating team to look into, flagging instances in which they thought Mr. Williams had exaggerated.”
- Farhi reported online Saturday: “NBC News finds Brian Williams embellished at least 11 times.”
Bill O’Reilly Calls for “Incompetent” New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio to Resign from Office … He Has Disgraced the Office of the Mayor of NYC
Last night on the O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly called for the resignation of NYC Mayor Bill de Blazio.
“You have a mayor that comes in, a man named Bill de Blasio. He is a far left individual, who is incompetent. He cannot run the city of New York.”
Greg Gutfeld guest-hosted “The Factor” tonight, but Bill O’Reilly could not stay silent about the brutal murder of two NYPD officers. O’Reilly called in to the show to share his thoughts on the tragic situation and to call for the resignation of “incompetent” New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
“You have a mayor that comes in, a man named Bill de Blasio. He is a far left individual, who is incompetent,” O’Reilly said. “He cannot run the city of New York.”
O’Reilly said that the suspect in the murder of the two officers, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, was using the grand jury decisions in the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner as an excuse, not as a mission.
“Everybody should know this is a terrible individual. And I hope he’s enjoying hell right now,” O’Reilly stated, adding that there are millions of people like Brinsley running around, because our society does not hold them accountable.
O’Reilly made it clear, however, that no one else has blood on their hands for the murder of the NYPD cops, just Brinsley.
“Aiding and abetting Brinsley and other maniacs? Those protesters who yelled ‘we want dead cops.’ Everybody heard it. Those people should be shunned. If you know them, never speak to them again.”
As for Mayor de Blasio, O’Reilly said that he’s been anti-police his whole career.
“Who’s his best friend? Al Sharpton. Al Sharpton. A racial provocateur and anti-cop individual is de Blasio’s best friend. That says it all,” “The Factor” host stated.
Less than one week after police officer Darren Wilson was not indicted by a grand jury in the shooting death of Michael Brown, Darren Wilson has officially resigned for the Ferguson, Missouri police department. It had been previously reported that Wilson was in talks with the police department to resign. But, thanks to the efforts of those with an agenda who refused to listen or care about the facts of the shooting, their efforts to persecute officer Wilson and get their pound of flesh forced him out of his job. Too bad the trouble makers and race-baiters and “vultures” could not be forced out of their jobs as well.
Citing threats of violence, Darren Wilson, who fatally shot Michael Brown Aug. 9, resigned from the Ferguson Police Department on Saturday.
Wilson, 28, whom a St. Louis County grand jury declined to indict in connection with the shooting, had worked for the city’s police department for six years.
In a telephone interview Saturday evening, Wilson said he resigned after the police department told him it had received threats that violence would ensue if he remained an employee.
“I’m resigning of my own free will,” he said. “I’m not willing to let someone else get hurt because of me.”
He said resigning was “the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.”
Darren Wilson’s resignation letter reads, in part:
“I have been told that my continued employment may put the residents and police officers of the City of Ferguson at risk, which is a circumstance that I cannot allow. For obvious reasons, I wanted to wait until the grand jury made their decision before I officially made my decision to resign. It was my hope to continue in police work, but the safety of other police officers and the community are of paramount importance to me. It is my hope that my resignation will allow the community to heal.”
As reported at the NY Times, Adolphus Pruitt, of the NAACP’s St. Louis chapter, said the resignation “not only fulfills one of the demands of the protesters, but also provides for one of the steps necessary for the wholesale reconstructions of law enforcement in Ferguson.”
