Judge Edward Burmila Rejected all of the Motions for a New Trial and Sentenced Drew Peterson 38 years in Prison for Killing His Third Wife Kathleen Savio
BYE, BYE BIRDY DREW PETERSON …
Will County Judge Edward Burmila denied all of the motions for a new trial and sentenced Drew Peterson to 38 years in prison for the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio. Let me just add, it could not have happened to a more deserving individual. Who’s laughing now Drew? Following Peterson’s sentencing, he shouted that he did not kill his wife. An individual in the courtroom yelled in reply, “Yes you did!” FINALLY … THERE IS JUSTICE FOR KATHLEEN SAVIO.

Former Illinois cop Drew Peterson yelled, “I did not kill Kathleen!” during the sentencing phase of his trial today — and then a judge sentenced him to 38 years in jail for killing her.
The sentence came after Will County Judge Edward Burmila denied Peterson a re-trial in the killing of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004.
Peterson had faced as many as 60 years in prison.
At his sentencing, after Peterson shouted that he did not kill his wife, someone in the courtroom yelled in reply, “Yes you did!” according to ABC News Chicago station WLS. Burmila then ordered that person to leave the courtroom.
Peterson went on to claim that police “altered evidence” in his case and “intimidated witnesses and scared my children.”
The long and bizarre, sad tale has finally come to an end. Well at least for one of Drew Peterson’s dead wives. In 2004, Peterson’s third wife, Savio, was found dead in her bathtub. Her death that was initially ruled an accidental drowning, but when his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, disappeared in 2007, Savio’s body was exhumed and her death ruled a homicide. For Drew Peterson who was laughing and making mock of his arrest and taking nothing serious, I would dare say he is not laughing now.

Drew Peterson Found Guilty of Murder in the Death of Kathleen Savio
The verdict is in for the Drew Peterson murder trial … GUILTY!!!
Finally there is Justice fair Kathleen Savio. Drew Peterson, the 58 year old former Bolling Brook police officer has been found guilty of murder by a jury of his peers. Peterson now faces up to 60 years in prison. Following the verdict Savio’s brother-in-law, Mitch Dorman stated, “Finally, finally, finally. … We finally got that murdering bastard.” I bet Peterson is not laughing this evening.
Drew Peterson, the former Illinois police officer who gained notoriety after his much-younger wife vanished in 2007, was convicted Thursday of murdering a previous wife in a case centered on secondhand hearsay statements from both women.
Peterson, 58, sat stoically looking straight ahead and did not react as the judge announced jurors had found him guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Her relatives gasped, then hugged each other as they cried quietly.
Illinois has no death penalty, and Peterson now faces a maximum 60-year prison term when sentenced Nov. 26.
Drew Peterson’s sore loser defense attorney says, “thank you for hating us”. You’re welcome.

Jurors Begin Day One of Deliberations in Drew Peterson Murder Trial in Death of Kathleen Savio
JUSTICE FOR KATHLEEN …
A day after the defense and prosecution presented their closing arguments in the Drew Peterson murder trial, the case was given to the jury for deliberations. Former Bolingbrook police sergeant Peterson was charged with murder in the death of his third wife Kathleen Savio. The accidental drowning death of Savio in 2004 was later changed to a homicide after the disappearance and presumed death of Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy Peterson. The prosecution alleges that the 58 year old Peterson murdered Savio and staged her death to look like an accident.
After hearing five weeks of evidence, the jury began deliberations at 10:37 a.m. ET Wednesday. Judge Edward Burmila read 15 minutes of instructions to the jurors, saying that they should start with the presumption that Peterson is innocent and only convict him if they find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, The Associated Press reported.
“The defendant is not required to prove his innocence,” Burmila told jurors.
The jurors made several requests in the first few hours, NBCChicago.com reported. They requested Peterson’s phone records from the weekend Savio died and autopsy photos of Savio’s body. They also wanted a letter written by Savio that described her fear that Peterson would kill her, but the judge only allowed them access to a heavily-redacted version. The jurors’ request for a transcript of the testimony from Rev. Neil Schori and attorney Harry Smith was denied by the judge, and instead the transcript was read back to them by a court reporter.
Its now up to the seven-man, five-woman jury to decide Drew Peterson’s fate. The jury in the Drew Peterson murder trial deliberated for more than eight hours Wednesday before a judge sent them home for the night.
