NBC Epic Disaster: Megyn Kelly” Sunday Show’s ‘Initial Run’ Pulled After Just Eight Episodes

HONESTLY, WHO COULD NOT HAVE SEEN THIS COMING?

Megyn Kelly’s Sunday show pulled after just eight episodes. Her initial Sunday show debuted to great fanfare in June with a Vladimir Putin interview that brought in 6.1 million viewers, but has continuously fallen and slid to 3.1 million viewers last Sunday. In the end, NBC overpaid for a no talent. Megyn Kelly might have worked on FOX News for ratings, but anyone who thought she would succeed on liberal NBC was fooling themselves. One has to wonder just how far this experiment is going to go before the NBC brass finally admit the truth and pull the plug. For the ratings that Kelly gets, they could have hired anyone and paid half, if not a quarter of her salary. At this point, NBC has no alternative but to see what happens as they are pot committed.

A ratings disaster.

Megyn Kelly3

The initial run of Megyn Kelly’s Sunday newsmagazine show will reportedly be taken off the air at least two episodes earlier than scheduled because of her disastrous ratings.

Last week, Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly set another viewership low with just 2.71 million total viewers. In the last three weeks, her show has failed to beat the years-old Dateline rerun the network ran in her show’s time slot when Kelly took a week off during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

According to the New York Post, “Kelly’s ratings-challenged Sunday show was announced as a limited” run that would return after the football season. The network was reportedly angling for at least ten episodes but apparently decided to end Kelly’s misery after eight episodes as Kelly’s downward spiral in the ratings did not stop.

An NBC spinmeister claimed that Kelly’s show was going off the air after this week’s show because she needs to be “freed up to focus” on her morning show. Translation: Kelly needs to do all she can to not ruin NBC’s crown jewel Today franchise. Network executives, who reportedly have been freaking out about Kelly’s poor ratings, are probably praying that Kelly simply does no more harm than she has already done in her short time at the network.

Megyn Kelly Ratings Hit New Low, Down by a Half of Debut For NBC

FILE THIS ONE UNDER, WHO DIDN’T SEE THIS COMING MEGYN KELLY’S RATING HITTING THE SKIDS.

As reported at The Hill, Megyn Kelly’s Sunday news magazine this week registered its lowest ratings since its debut on June 4, 2017. The latest installment of “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly” drew 3.1 million viewers on Sunday, down by one half from her debut. Look for it to go even lower. She is in a no win situation as those that used to watch her on Fox News will no longer because she jumped ship and she is too conservative for NBC. Who is left holding the bag? Why NBC of course. Kelly was hired by NBC News earlier this year for a reported salary of $17 million annually. How anyone in the news is worth this much is beyond me. In what might turn out to be the worst career move ever, Kelly turned down a reported $25 million to stay at Fox News, but instead jumped to NBC in January. In what has to be nothing but embarrassing, no matter how NBC wants to spin it, Kelly’s live Sunday program again lost to repeats of “60 Minutes” on CBS and “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

There is a greater question here … how do no talents in the media get paid so much? How are they worth it?

Megyn Kelly

Megyn Kelly’s Sunday news magazine this week registered its lowest ratings since its debut on June 4, according to Nielsen Research.

“Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly” drew 3.1 million viewers on Sunday, or half of the 6.2 million viewers it brought in for its premiere, which featured an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Kelly, 46, was hired by NBC News earlier this year for a reported salary of $17 million annually.

The former attorney-turned-cable-news-star was offered a reported $25 million to stay at Fox News, but jumped to NBC in January. Kelly finished 2016 as the second-highest rated host in cable news behind only the since-ousted Bill O’Reilly, also of Fox News.

Kelly’s Sunday program again lost to repeats of “60 Minutes” on CBS and “America’s Funniest Home Videos” on ABC in both total viewers and the key 18-49 demographic advertisers covet most.

“60 Minutes” tallied 5.9 million viewers to win the 7 p.m. time slot.

Let’s remember what was predicted when Megyn “I think I am better than I am” Kelly left Fox News. Although, she pretty much created a situation for herself where she could not stay.

My personal opinion is that Megyn will become a small fish in a big liberal pond and probably rue the day she made this jump. I cannot believe that her career will be cultivated as it was at FOX. This almost appears to be addition by subtraction by NBC.

Megyn Kelly to Leave Fox News and Jumps to NBC

HEY MEGYN, DON’T ASK FOR THINGS THEY MIGHT JUST COME TRUE ... NEXT UP, THERE IS PLENTY OF TALENT TO REPLACE MEGYN.

Megyn Kelly is leaving Fox News and headed to NBC. My first thought is, good riddance. My second is, next up. It had been rumored for quite dome time and now its official. The 46 year old Megyn Kelly is leaving the news organization and fan base that made her to go a news entity that is as liberal as it gets. The MSM would like to make this be a blow to FOX News and its demise. Really? Long before Megyn, Fox News was the most watched cable channel and they will be after. According to reports, Kelly was offered $20 million to stay with FNC. Her new salary with NBC has not been revealed. All that money just to act snarky, unreal. As per reports, Kelly’s role at NBC News will be multifaceted. She will host a new one-hour daytime program that will air Monday through Friday at a time to be announced, a Sunday night news magazine program, and she will “become an important contributor to NBC’s breaking news coverage as well as the network’s political and special events coverage.”

Megyn Kelly2

For Megyn Kelly, the shift from Fox News to NBC — where she will host a daily daytime show and a Sunday newsmagazine program — will be a test of whether she can connect with a broader audience in a different format and reach another level of television stardom.

But her move, announced Tuesday, has broader implications for the television news industry, raising new questions about the future of Fox News, where she was a countervailing presence in an opinion lineup heavy with right-leaning ideology, and of NBC News, which has been a longtime bête noire for conservative press critics. And it comes as all news organizations gird for a new era of media coverage that arrives Jan. 20 with the inauguration of Donald J. Trump.

The Murdoch family, which controls Fox News’s parent company, 21st Century Fox, had become so invested in Ms. Kelly as a franchise that they were prepared to pay her a salary of more than $20 million a year.

But now Fox News, long the cable news ratings leader and an influential voice in the national political debate, is on course to begin coverage of a new administration with no prime-time anchor with Ms. Kelly’s history of challenging Mr. Trump. Her show, “The Kelly File,” was sandwiched between the top-rated program of Bill O’Reilly — she was regularly second to him in the cable news ratings — and that of Mr. Trump’s major booster, Sean Hannity.

My personal opinion is that Megyn will become a small fish in a big liberal pond and probably rue the day she made this jump. I cannot believe that her career will be cultivated as it was at FOX. This almost appears to be addition by subtraction by NBC.

Legal Insurrection has a poll of who they think should take Kelly’s place. My choice would be Laura Ingraham, with Dana Loesch being a very close second.

UPDATE I: Megyn Kelly’s NBC Daytime Show to Replace Third Hour of ‘Today’.

Kelly’s salary at NBC is not known, but it’s expected to be in the $15 to $20 million range. However, it has been reported that Fox News had offered her $25 million year and a 4 year deal.

Megyn Kelly’s new daytime show on NBC is expected to replace Today’s 9 a.m. hour, sources said Wednesday.

NBC News declined to comment. A network source said that timing on everything involving Kelly is still up in the air, including when she will join NBC News and when her new shows will debut. Speaking Tuesday evening on her Fox News Channel show, The Kelly File, Kelly said her last show would air Friday. Her contract with Fox News runs through July though, so she may not be able to officially join NBC News until that contract expires.

Besides hosting her own daytime program, Kelly also will anchor a Sunday night news magazine and jump in on breaking news and political stories.

The 9 a.m. hour of Today has been a trouble spot for NBC. It tries to be a take on the panel talk show, with Al Roker and Tamron Hall leading a discussion of pop culture and light news with multiple hosts. Last August, the hour suffered a further setback when Today brought on Billy Bush to lead the hour, and soon Bush and Roker were clashing on air about Bush’s kid-gloves interview of Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte. Bush was then fired in October after video leaked of him and now-President-elect Donald Trump speaking lewdly about women.

The Confrontation Between Megyn Kelly and Newt Gingrich Revisited … In Retrospect Newt was 100% Correct & Megyn Has Some Apologizing to Do

REMEMBER WHEN SNARK FILLED MEGYN KELLY SAID TO NEWT … YOU THINK HE IS GOING TO WIN PENNSYLVANIA?!?

We will be discussing the winners and losers of the 2016 elections in the near future, and there were many on both sides. One such loser of the presidential campaign cycle was Megyn Kelly. Remember the VIDEO below and the interview between Megyn and Newt Gingrich that turned into a free-for-all? Gingrich was amazed at the media bias that only cared about sex and not the treasure trove of WikiLeaks emails that shows Clinton, Democrat and MSM collusion ans scandal.

In the heated discussion know-it-all Megyn Kelly could not get her head around the fact that Newt Gingrich was suggesting that there were two alternate universes in play with the electorate in America. One, all the so-called independence pollsters and two, what they were seeing on the ground and their own internal Trump polling. Whether you like Newt or not, he is a brilliant mind and knows his stuff. He has experienced it, he reads, sees and breaths it. Megyn Kelly, not so much. She is fed her information by producers. I have to look back and watch this VIDEO as Megyn Kelly was 100% incorrect in all of her analysis, comments and opinions. She was so jaded in her opinion of Trump that she could never admit to the possibility. The one thing one first learns in the world of politics is you never say never.  Megyn Kelly acts all snarky and like she is the most intelligent person in the room with the discussion of whether Trump could win Pennsylvania. Because all the polls said he couldn’t, Megyn jumped on the band wagon. Guess what America, Donald Trump won the state of Pennsylvania and the keystone to his presidential victory.

I think Megyn owes Newt an apology and just curious .. how do you like your crow prepared?

Megyn Kelly transcripts: “The Kelly File,” October 25, 2016.

KELLY: So, I mean, with Cook and many other non-partisan Independent pollsters now saying that the Senate is likely lost to the Republicans, what does that say? I mean if Donald Trump loses this White House race and the Republicans lose the Senate, does that suggest that the Republicans nominated the wrong candidate at the top of their ticket?

GINGRICH: Well, look. The next two weeks are a contest of two parallel universes. I just listened to that report. First of all, I used to hang out with Charlie Cook when he would explain that Donald Trump was hopeless and would not get the nomination. I like Charlie. That doesn’t mean he’s infallible. But let’s take the report we just got. Republicans are actually outvoting Democrats in Florida, they’re outvoting Democrats in Pennsylvania, that’s unprecedented. They’ve cut the Democratic leads —

KELLY: You predict a win in Pennsylvania.

GINGRICH: I think they might.

KELLY: Really? You think Trump is going to win Pennsylvania? (post election added: Pennsylvania: Clinton 47.6%    Trump 48.8%)

GINGRICH: Look, all I can report you right now is they’re outvoting the Democrats in early voting which is also true in Florida which is unprecedented.

KELLY: But all of the polls in Pennsylvania have her winning.

GINGRICH: What?

KELLY: All of the polls in Pennsylvania have her ahead.

GINGRICH: I know. I just told you, we have two alternative universes right now. In Iowa, for example, the Democrats are 50,000 votes behind where they were with Barack Obama in turnout. The governor is very confident we’re going to carry Iowa which Obama carried last time. I think this carries through case after case like this. In Minnesota, we’re almost certainly going to win the Congressional seat — Duluth which is a very Democratic area but it deeply dislikes Hillary Clinton.

KELLY: But let me just ask you, let me just ask you because you say it’s two alternate universes.

GINGRICH: Yes.

KELLY: I mean, these are sort of small examples of how he might be ahead in early voting and so on. But I’m telling you that the Fox News Decision Desk just moved Iowa that you just mentioned, Indiana, second Congressional district in Maine, all of them moved left, moved more likely to vote for Hillary Clinton. And in fact, all of the moves that have been on this map over the past three weeks by Larry Sabato, by Cook, by the Fox News Decision Desk. These are nonpartisan outlets that are just trying to call the electoral scoreboard --

(Added post election: Iowa (6)    Clinton 42.2%    Trump 51.8% … good call Fox News)

GINGRICH: Non-partisan outlets. Every outlet you described is part of the establishment.

KELLY: FOX News? Really? Are we? I don’t think so.

GINGRICH: Come on!

KELLY: And every state they’ve moved, they’ve moved it to the left, towards Hillary. And you tell me whether that’s all made up.

GINGRICH: No, I mean, there are two alternative universes. You have a poll which suggests that she’s going to get a Barack Obama turnout among African-Americans. I don’t think that’s going to happen. You have a Washington Post, ABC News poll where they took out eight percent of the vote because they didn’t like the way it voted. Look, I’ve been around long enough. I remember when the Detroit liberal newspaper on the Sunday before the election said John Angler would lose by 14 points. He won the governorship that year. I don’t take polls as seriously as people who have never run for office. I can tell you.

KELLY: But your candidate loves them and has touted them from the beginning. And he’s been behind in virtually every one, out of the last 40 polls that we’ve seen over the past month. That is the reality.

GINGRICH: If you want to assume the election is over, skip the next two weeks.

KELLY: I’m not assuming anything. I’m asking you whether you believe your candidate is behind based on these numbers and what it says about the down ballot races.

GINGRICH: I believe the odds are at least one in three and maybe better than that. But the difference in intensity and the difference in determination and the degree to which Hillary Clinton is clearly the most corrupt dishonest person ever nominated by a party. All mean that the odds are pretty good she’s not going to win. And I actually believe that. This is not just because I’m for Donald Trump. I actually believe the American people are sickened by this.
