Aruban Prime Minister In Defeat Still Does not Understand Freedom of the Press (Oduber loses to Diario)

Aruban PM Nelson Oduber loses his court case against Diario for “insultation and slurring on his integrity”.  I know that there is a joke and at least the reference of an oxymoron within that statement.  Aruban PM Oduber, you can thank your lucky stars you do not hold a political position in the US with the thin skinned reaction you have to how the media criticizes and scrutinizes you and your party. New-flash … in a democracy the Press is not supposed to agree with a political party and carry its water, that would be called propaganda. The Press is supposed to act as a watch-guard for the people.

Amigoe_062807a

(Click on pic to enlarge)

Oduber’s reaction is that he will not appeal.  “I have lost enough time in this case already.  It has become clear to me that everybody can publish anything they want about the government, and not be prosecuted.  We have actually been outlawed.”

Are you joking? At this point after PM Oduber made this comment, Oduber began to sing, “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina”.  Oduber, your drama is astounding. You are a politician, people will always disagree with your position and question it. That is what is supposed to occur in a DEMOCRACY.

Amigoe, June 29, 2007: Oduber looses case against Diario

ORANJESTAD – In a lawsuit that Oduber had instituted against the morning paper Diario, of which the hearing was this morning, the judge ruled that he doesn’t think that Diario has insulted Prime Minister Nelson Oduber (MEP) in an article on the Namdar-case.

The premier demanded rectification as a result of an article that appeared in the paper on May 14th that stated that the premier ‘has declared himself as main suspect’ in the Namdar-case.  Diario refused to rectify and the premier instituted the lawsuit due to insultation and slurring on his integrity.  “I admit in Oduber’s favour that Diario does impudent assertions in the article about the involvement of the government and the government party in a bribery scandal, but those assertions are strongly put into perspective”, said the judge.  According to him, it is about an analysis of the case and not a statement of the case.

Oduber’s reaction is that he will not appeal.  “I have lost enough time in this case already.  It has become clear to me that everybody can publish anything they want about the government, and not be prosecuted.  We have actually been outlawed.”

We have so many problems with our own politicians why are we concerned with Aruba. Having spent 31 years there I know that the government reacts slowly to anything. I think you should all cut them some slack and see this for what it is. This is a small island with a lot of related people and not the devil island most of you think it is. If you look at Diario on line and see the recreational side of Aruba, maybe you could appreciate how the people really are. It seems that the majority of this site see Aruba as some awful place. That is simply not true. The Arubans I know and love are dipicted on the social pages of Diario. This is a wonderful place for vacation and you should at least give them the benefit of the doubt. I have been reading what shows up on this site and sometimes I have to think that you are really sick and more demented then the people that you are accusing. If you have not seen the real Aruba I suggest that you do so before making the remarks that you think are politically correct. mary ann

I guess everyone has his or her own definition of reality.

Ask the Holloway Twitty family what the “real” Aruba is to them. Ask them what a wonderful place it is for a vacation.

Better yet, ask Natalee … if you can.

There’s a saying, “Handsome is as handsome does.” The reverse is also true.

In my eyes, the Aruban government has dug its own grave by the cover-up that began on May 30, 2005, if not before.

Aruba is a great place … to boycott. Can’t think of a better one to stay away from. That;s the message that some of us are putting forth in New Orleans at this moment.

Oduber concludes his petulant comments by saying that he has, in effect, become an outlaw.

Always did know that the old boy had something in that noggin of his. An outlaw, exactly. Couldn’t have put it better myself.

Nelson must have been reading King Lear: “A dog’s obeyed in office.” But maybe not so much anymore.

Since we have been paying attention since june of 2005 we now know that the Aruban Govt will protect Aruban Tourism Dollars at all costs. At the same time protecting the criminals who were involved because of conflict of interest and major corruption.Even if that means threatening Victims Famalies,Bribing Politicians,Organizing Protests against the Mother and organizing groups that sole purpose is to slander the victim and her family and misdirection of the truth. I could write a book about the awful events that took place after Natalee dissapeared. Everyone knows it was a dishonest investigation and coverup. When Beth Twitty spoke up against horrific events she was forced to issue a apology or they would stop investigating the case. Now that is truly sick and demented!

Natalee didn’t kill herself from cocaine, she didnt run away with a blue eyed dutch boy,she isnt partying in brazil and it wasnt a Insurance scam. No one is buying it!! Looks like the family is scared to speak out for a boycott as they dont want to burn down there bridges and they still hold out hope. No one wants to see a active and organized boycott. But it appears that is where we are headed as they still have not conducted a honest investigation or look into the obvious coverup.

Everyone know’s that there is lots of good Arubans unfortanately they are run by a Corrupt,Dirty Govt who protects Aruban Tourism at all costs. They must be too scared to speak up because no one saw the public outcry of a young girl who was most likely drugged, raped and murdered. We did see a Govt organized protest vs the Mother and American media though. Natalee and her family continue to be raked over the coals even after two years. They can only watch as suspects and there mothers write books, lie on american tv and sue for 800 million dollars.

It all comes down to the Dutch who appear to be making some kind of effort even though the search of the VDS home was two years late. It appears they are making a impact on the Drug Use and Trafficking which has reached epic porportions in Aruba. Now if they can just bust that wall of corruption and get justice for Natalee Aruban Tourism may have some hope. If you think people are gonna forget about how many times Aruban Officials have stuck it to Natalee and her Family…You are Dreaming!!

Sounds like Mary Ann has spent toooo much time in the kitchen again baking her Coconut Pot Pies.

Oduber’s reaction is that he will not appeal. “I have lost enough time in this case already. It has become clear to me that everybody can publish anything they want about the government, and not be prosecuted. We have actually been outlawed.”

It seems to us, all the govt. officials in Aruba can print anything they want about a tourist who was the victim of a horrendous crime on his island. They can make stuff up about her and her family, pay people to go out and lie about them. Let the criminals walk around on the streets. Let relatives and friends pretend to investigate each other. He wants Diaro prosecuted. Hey Oduber, what about Joran and his father in the casino gambling and drinking underage. How about the VIP pass Joran had to CnC when he was underage. How about drinking underage at CnC? How about gambling the next night in casinos underage? After all if you had enforced those laws, Joran would never have been around Natalee and her group that night. He is worried what the press says about the govt.? That is the least of his worries. I think Mary Ann has been sharing her pies with him too much. I wish the judge would have told Oduber he was sick of his case.

      Nelson Oduber:

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of this

dishonorable pig, is that his son brutally raped the family

Oduber maid and Paulus helped keep him out of legal

troubles over it. That came in handy to call in favors when

it came to his son raping and disposing of Natalee.

Paulus’ own carnivore of course, the sadistic & sick serial

killer Joran Van der sloot. J still goes free to rape

and kill some more in Aruba and the Netherlands!

However, if you wipe all that out… nobody, not even the

most patriotic Aruban loving soul, can explain why Joran

said in a recent Dutch Magazine interview

      “Natalee Holloway, f**** the b****,

I purposely left Natalee on the beach to disrespect her.”

      Joran 6/2007

      Even if you support Aruba,

and/or and the gosh awful raping

      murdering Van der sloot family…

      ….nobody, NOBODY …. NO > BODY

      can explain those sadistic comments

from Joran Van der sloot. Nobody can offer

a reasonable explanation as to why Joran still

feels the need to disrespect & attack Natalee and her family

2 years later. NOBODY! I am sure any patriotic

Aruban worth their salt, would kill him dead where

he stands if he ever spoke of their own missing/dead?

family members in such a fashion.

Burn in hell, Joran. Nobody has forgotten what you

did to Nat! Your day is on the horizon, and you know that.

Nobody really wants to pulverize Aruba, but as long as they

stand in the direct line of sight of you, they will keep

Couple of articles from today’s news. Bear with me.

The first one: international human trafficking ring uncovered in Brazil and Spain. Some fifty women from various countries in South America were promised good jobs in Spain. When they got there, their passports were taken and they were forced into prostitution.

Not bad money for the perpetrators, who included a mother-and-daughter team. They pulled in $500,000 a month.

The head of the gang was in Spain.

This is not kidnapping, this is using trickery to get people trapped. Probably the women had to pay high fees to get the “good jobs,” meaning the criminals could use their debts to threaten them.

But this proves the existence of international trafficking rings, if anyone doubted it, and that the money is big.

$500,000 a month goes a long way in most parts of the world.
Some people might be tempted to snare victims for that kind of cash … especially drug dealers?

      http://www.newschannel5.tv/2007/6/29/973833/Brazilian-police-dismantle-human-trafficking-ring

Brazilian police dismantle human trafficking ring
      Friday , June 29, 2007

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) – Authorities have arrested 10 Brazilians accused of luring South American women to Spain and forcing them into prostitution, a federal police spokesman said Friday.

Those arrested Thursday included an attorney and a mother-and-daughter team that recruited women from Colombia, Paraguay and Brazil, federal police spokesman Francisco Morais said.

The ring promised women well-paid jobs in Spain, where their passports were taken and they were forced to prostitute themselves, Morais said.

He said the group is headed by a Spaniard “who should be arrested shortly by Spanish police.”

Police have identified some 50 women, 18 of them Brazilian, who fell prey to the gang, he added.

The suspects are being held on charges of criminal association, international human trafficking, prostitution and pimping. They face up to eight years in prison.

Morais said the Madrid-based organization made about $520,000 a month in profits.

The other story comes from a Miami station. It’s slugged “local story,” so I think that this town of Miramar is probably in Florida, rather than the California one.

I’ve always wondered why Paulus van der Sloot made that trip to Miami a few months (I believe) after Natalee vanished.

The guy in this story seems to be implicated in human smuggling and money laundering.

Remember, as I’ve pointed out often, drug trafficking and human trafficking are often linked.

And we can be sure that a lot of “hot” money in Miami is linked to the Caribbean. Or so I surmise: drug dealing is known to be a problem down there, where the dealers have resources that swamp those available to the governments.

Drug dealing, human trafficking, money laundering … it all goes together, folks. And this guy apparently was involved in some of them ….

What DID you do in Miami, Paulus? Why DID you go?

Miramar Man Accused Of Human Trafficking
(CBS4) MIRAMAR Roman Robaina, who lives near Miramar, was arrested earlier in the week, accused of heading a human smuggling ring, according to law enforcement officials on Saturday.

Authorities said Robaina and his girlfriend were arrested, charged not only with smuggling humans into the U.S., but also for their alleged involvement in money laundering.

In Arizona, where the investigation is headed, Phoenix police say the ring reportedly made $30 million a year, smuggling about 300 illegal immigrants into the U.S. through Arizona each week.

Alberto Levy, owner of Carlos ‘n Charlies

Rafael Levy, resides in Miami,Fla. alleged association with International porn coming out of Miami…Paulus probably stays there

Melody Granadilo, Joran’s ex-girlfried was told by a friend that Joran had called her on 05-30-05 from his tennis practice right after school that day(that was the day Joran slept in the nurses office but managed to play tennis right after school)and stated concern about the girl he had been with on 5/30 was missing….so if he left her on the beach and went to school that day how did he even know she was missing

Probably the biggest proof to me that the boycott effort by SM is a source of pain to Aruba: the number of trolls we get here saying how wonderful Aruba is and how well their tourism is doing. We know neither is true. If SM was having no effect, the trolls would not be here in droves.

Hate is a pretty strong word, but I agree that evil deserves that strong word. To me it’s the issue of what Aruba allowed Natalee’s family to go through. The extreme measures taken to defame both Natalee and Beth, the lack of efforts by the officials in helping Natalee’s family search for their daughter and in some cases their efforts to thwart the family’s efforts. Aruban officials also appeared to actually be assisting in the cover-up for the perps. These are all evil actions. These are the things I hate.

I don’t hate the people, I hate their actions and I hate the misery that the Holloway/Twitty families have to endure because of the lack of feeling and compassion on the part of both the perps and those who have covered up for them.

It’s horrible for parents to lose a child. It’s even more horrible to lose your child through a senseless crime; where someone takes your child’s life. It’s beyond horrific to be left in abeyance as to where you child’s body is for over two years, to be left to wonder every day exactly what happened to your child and have no grave to even visit in those horrible times when you just need to grieve.

Natalee’s parents know her spirit is not in a grave, the water or a garbage dump – or even on or near Aruba. In fact Natalee’s spirit has soared so high that it’s effected a lot of Americans along with the Scared Monkeys. But I’m sure that some of Natalee’s family’s grief would be eased by simply having a resting place for her body, to know that out of respect for Natalee, her body was respectfully buried and a place to sit quietly and remember her and celebrate her life.

Yet those who hide the crime and the perpetrators of the crime are so heartless that they aren’t interested in easing this family’s pain. They don’t care that the family wakes every day wondering where Natalee’s body lies.

Each and everyone of the trolls from one crappy island come here and they care about the damage done to aruba. They don’t care one bit about the damage that continues to be pushed on this family. That tells a lot.

Brie (#30) … You say that Oduber has his tail between his legs. This is a slur on dogs in general.

Maybe we can say that Oduber is baring his teeth like some four-legged creatures do when cornered. The image of a rat seems to be quite appropriate.
