Joe Biden: Paying Higher Taxes is a Patriotic Act … Biden Compares Taxes to Charity & Patriotism

Since when have paying taxes been considered charity? Biden tries to pass off big government as Patriotism. Unbelievable. Welcome to Patriotism, Democrat style … wearing a flag pin not patriotic while paying higher taxes is patriotic. Welcome to a glimpse of what it will be like in an Obama Administration.

Obama_flag_pin

Obama, is that a flag pin on your uniform?

What else would a tax and spend liberal say? According to Democrat VP candidate Joe Biden, “paying higher taxes is a patriotic act. Biden discussing raising taxes while his Presidential running mate is stating that he will not be raising taxes on Americans. This coming from the Democratic Party and ticket that has previously stated that we are not supposed to question people’s patriotism. These are the same people that said that wearing a flag pin was not a true sign of patriotism, yet some how paying higher taxes is. AMAZING!!! So I guess Biden’s philosophy is that those that pay low taxes would be unpatriotic? Wouldn’t that be the middle class then?

Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden said Thursday that paying more in taxes is the patriotic thing to do for wealthier Americans. In a new TV ad that repeats widely debunked claims about the Democratic tax plan, the Republican campaign calls Obama’s tax increases “painful.”

Noting that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more, Biden said: “It’s time to be patriotic … time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.”

So let’s get this straight, Joe Biden has given in charity an average of $369 a year for the past decade or about .02% of his income while he tells Americans they need to pay more taxes or they are not Patriots?

Yea that’s right Biden … redistribution of the wealth is patriotic. There probably isn’t anything more unAmerican that redistribution or taxing people to pay for ridiculous government spending.

There is a reason why Congressional approval ratings are so low. The last thing the USA needs to be doing is giving the govt more of our money to wastefully spend.

John McCain want’s redistribution as well so you’re gonna get it no matter who wins.

Just get a good tax person…you’ll get it all back. The number of loopholes are amazing.

If it’s our patriotic duty to pay off the buy outs of Fannie, Freddie, and AIG, then let Congress be the first to set the example, followed by the filthy rich, Hollywood, oil companies, big businesses, etc. Biden is so wrong and full of it!!

I am all for STEALING from the rich and giving to the poor :-)

      Time for another tea party??

    5. Susan on September 19th, 2008 6:57 am

Tis “tea time” at that, Brenda :-) Whatever happened to “no taxation without representation”? Not the first member of Congress represents the American people! They only represent their own GREEDY selves…

Now is the time for all good Democrats to, in the baseball metaphor, step up to the plate and show us that their money is where Biden’s mouth is.

Bill Clinton, John Edwards, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and all the rest of you on Gilligan’s island (I bet few readers here remember that great intellectual TV show) … cough up some more money, and do it with a smile, to show how patriotic you are.

Someone call me when it happens.

Making matters even worse … across the spectrum, from education to homeland security to the safety of our food and water …

more spending seems to be producing LESS achievement, LESS accomplishment, and LESS competence.

And the government’s solution? Spend more.

Susan, yes! and I think it irritates them greatly that many of us notice the greed factor. How DARE we notice their lack of ethics. Must be we are horrible people who want to “hold America back”. True! I too wish to hold America back from the messed up direction many are trying to take it. I prefer to go BACK to what this great country was founded on. (I suppose that makes me old fashioned,,,,good!)

I am so ready to get hateful responses from most everyone, but I’ll take a chance. Does anyone know what Obama has in store for us? Our country will turn into a total welfare state. I think that 98% of all his african american supporters are well aware of it. He will take more from you to pass on to the poor, except these poor aren’t so needy at all.
They pop out a baby each year without benefit of husband and hold out a hand for that fat assistance each month. Why go to school and educate yourself when it’s so much easier to stand on a corner to prostitute yourself or sell drugs than going to work. The jobs are out there, but the pay isn’t so great, so why bother when we, the taxpaying public take care of them.
Be real careful when you cast your vote and be ready to live with the consequences.

Just what we need companies that are already failing, raise their taxes.. I read that Biden made over 2 million last year and donated $3,000 of it to charity.

Chris: to add to your comment, they know how to
rape the government by letting their parents adopt these children and when the grandparents die, the child draws their social security until age 18.
but the child doesn’t get this money, the child’s parent then steps in again and collects these checks for their own purposes.
they are very proud of this tactic and boast about it loudly !

And what about the illegals we are paying “through the nose” for….healthcare, school, and what are they giving back? Are they really picking tomatoes? I was behind one in line at grocery store and she had tons of little papers she was paying with…some kind of food stamps, I guess.

oops I meant $3,000.00 in the last nine years..

Wonder where Obama is going to get all this money from?

Barack Obama, who lamented Friday that “we have not managed our federal budget with any kind of discipline,” is nonetheless promising to spend $50 billion on a United Nations anti-poverty program that critics say will drive up American debt.

“The short-term weakness in the capital market is a reflection of long-term problems that we have in our economy,” Obama told reporters in Florida. “We have been loading up enormous amounts of debt.”

Yet Obama and his running mate, Joe Biden, have pledged tens of billions in new spending on a U.N. program that promises cash to poor countries. The program is one of eight sweeping “Millennium Development Goals” the U.N. adopted in 2000.

“Obama and Biden will embrace the Millennium Development Goal of cutting extreme poverty around the world in half by 2015, and they will double our foreign assistance to $50 billion to achieve that goal,” the candidates vow in their campaign platform.

Johns Hopkins professor Steve Hanke said such spending would merely drive up American debt, while doing almost nothing for the world’s poor.

“It goes down a bureaucratic rat-hole, lining the pockets of people who are connected to the power structure,” said Hanke, a senior fellow at the Cato Institute. “It’s basically a system to redistribute income from middle class people in the United States to rich people in poor countries. It never reaches those people who are living on a dollar a day.”

Hanke said such expenditures are especially unwise in the wake of significant expansions of government and spending during President Bush’s tenure.

“We’ve been spending like drunken sailors and making obligations into the future like drunken sailors,” he said. “We’re on an unsustainable path in terms of the fiscal situation in the United States because of massive spending growth and commitments.”

Obama said he wants to curtain at least one of those costly commitments.

“We have spent well over half a trillion dollars — soon to be a trillion dollars — on a war in Iraq, despite the fact that Iraqis are now running surpluses,” the Illinois senator said Friday. “We’re still spending $10 billion a month there.”

But in December, Obama also sponsored the Global Poverty Act which, if passed, would require the president to commit to cutting global poverty in half by 2015. Critics say that would cost American taxpayers $845 billion.

Susan Rice, one of Obama’s top foreign policy advisers, says the U.S. should give 0.7 percent of its Gross Domestic Product to developing nations.

We have stepped into the “socialistic government”
Goverment now owns the banks and insurers.

Russia should be a lesson of socialism gone bad.

Biden is too friggen Washington to be a VP, he is slathered in the washington scum and Obama is now the savior for Illinois, telling Emil Jones to get the ethics bill passed. Obama, as usual, a day late and a dollar short.

Socialized med is basically here where I live. One hospital has quit delivering babies because most had no insurance and they were going broke, so now everyone having a baby must drive about 30 miles to another hospital which hasn’t closed it’s baby doors as yet. Middle class America, I think it is time to kiss your lifestyle goodbye; you people who worked all your lives and have paid for health insurance, you, make that WE, are at the end of the line.
