Barack Obama … American Flag Lapel Pin Have Become a Substitute for “True Patriotism”

Barack … speak for yourself. You may wear a flag pin as a substitute for Flag_pinpatriotism, others do not. However, thank you for clarifying the false reason you wore an American flag pin all this time. People in real America do things for other reason than self-serving politicians who want to only present an appearance.

Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has decided to not wear an American flag lapel pin because he states its a substitute for patriotism. Who is telling you how to run your campaign? Patriotism is not explaining political ideas. The idea that you have just insulted people who do wear American flag pins will get you no where. Or is Barack going after the “no American flag wearing” pin demographic?

Barack … did it ever dawn on you, that one could do both? A person could be patriotic and wear an American flag lapel pin at the same time? I know this may be a novel concept, but its true.

Barack, why stop there with the American flag. Why not get rid of the American flag at all your campaign stops as well. Since you do not need to show your patriotism, whenever you speak why don’t you make sure the American flag is no where in the photo op.

Barack_obama_flagpin

Asked about it Wednesday in an interview with KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Illinois senator said he stopped wearing the pin shortly after the attacks and instead hoped to show his patriotism by explaining his ideas to citizens.

“The truth is that right after 9/11 I had a pin,” Obama said. “Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we’re talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security.

“I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest,” he said in the interview. “Instead, I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testament to my patriotism.” (Fox News)

As the Gateway Pundit so eloquently stated, Because nothing shows your patriotism like stuffing that US flag pin in the drawer! More from Hot Air, Messiah: I’m too far behind in the polls principled to wear an American flag pin. And Sistertoldjah states it best:

On the issue of the flag, this is not the first time I’ve heard about a liberal who refuses to either fly the flag or wear anything symbolizing the flag because they think it supposedly denotes approval of President Bush’s wartime policies. Frankly, I think the argument is a copout. My strong disagreements with President Clinton didn’t keep me from flying my flag.

Obama Stops Wearing Flag Pin, Says He’ll Show Patriotism Through Ideas

“I’m less concerned with what you’re wearing on your lapel than what’s in your heart,” Obama said Thursday while campaigning in Independence, Iowa.

“You show your patriotism by how you treat your fellow Americans, especially those who serve. And you show your patriotism by being true to your values and ideals. And that’s what we have to lead with, our values and ideals,” Obama said.

Does anyone else agree with me that the whole political superstructure is becoming ever more remote from the ordinary citizen?

That as more and more money is poured into the media and other forms of (essentially) advertising, the quality and relevance of the results are headed straight for the sewer?

I remember what Plato said: the only incentive for a good man (read, person) to seek public office is the fear that someone else who was worse than he would get in.

There seem to be more political candidates in this election cycle than I remember there ever being … and I can’t say that I’m impressed with any of them.

I think the Democrat’s need to rid of him. I don’t think he should be in a position to get any votes.

      “THE AMERICAN FLAG”

The American Flag stands for courage, camaraderie, safety and protection. Also the flag expresses patriotism and love for our country. The colors of our flag, white stands for pure and innocence, red stands for hardiness and valor. Blue stands for vigilance, perseverance, and justice. The stars on the American Flag stand for heaven and divine. The stripes mean rays of light emanating from the sun. Our flag also stands for hope, beliefs and the accomplishments of our nation. Our flag is the most important symbol of our nation. It stands for character, personality and our American History.

You live under our flag. And you have shown complete disrespect for our country. When a person in the military dies there is always someone from our armed forces at the grave site and they are part of a special tribute to the deceased. And the American Flag is always present.

Obama, I don’t want to hear another word from him.
We’ll fly our flag, we’ll wear our pins, we’ll always respect what the red, white and blue stands for. And nobody, but nobody will ever change that!

This guy just got crossed off my list of potential candidates for President. Stupid is an understatement.

Let’s get rid of the flag he always has behind him for photo ops, too. Why not that, Obama?

    5. brie on October 5th, 2007 5:55 pm

Betsy Ross sewed the first American Flag in 1776 with our President, George Washington. Obama knows nothing about American history, nor could he care less. He is not about our country…go to Africa and
take Rev Wright with you….that is where your loyalty lies…..I would think your next step would be terrorism….!!!!!

    6. brie on October 5th, 2007 6:05 pm

Who would want to follow his campaign trail…..or even believe where his true loyalty lies….refusing to wear the pin that represents the United States of America and encouraging others to do so….Your a, I’ll edit myself, get off the platform and stay away from the podium..

    7. brie on October 5th, 2007 6:15 pm

Obama, we will never take the flag down and we will never stop respecting for what it stands for…Your an absolute discredit to this country!!!! You don’t belong in a Presidential race to represent the United States of America….I hate the fact that you are in position to say the things you do!!!!!

    8. katablog.com on October 5th, 2007 6:40 pm

When you read what the minister of Obama’s church preaches (while Obama continues to attend and not condemn) then you will understand why Obama really doesn’t want to wear the flag pin.

The flag is not a substitute for patriotism, it is a symbol of patriotism. It’s true that one can wear or not wear the flag pin and still be or not be a patriot, but wearing the pin does not prevent one from speaking patriotically.

It’s really quite simple. B. Hussein Obama is a true muslim inside. They can’t worship anything over the koran and allah. He says he’s a Christian but in the koran it says it is alright to lie in the cause of allah. Vote for Hussein and you’ll have sharia law instantly!

      I don’t get it…

While it’s true that simply wearing a pin doesn’t

make you a patriot, not wearing one doesn’t either

So what’s the big deal? I think Obama is a bit

      Toooo radical for middle America.

Ma and Pop that have been wearing those pins for

years and are probably as confused as I am…

While it is true that many have wrapped themselves in a flag and espoused tripe that was definitely unAmerican, the remark that Obama made was shocking and unwarranted.

There is nothing wrong in wearing a pin representing the standards of the country that so many have sacrificed their life and limb for.

If you choose not to wear a pin, that is fine, but never discourage anyone else from feeling proud of their country. I wear the United States flag from time to time myself, and feel pretty good about it.

    15. brie on October 6th, 2007 1:44 pm

I guess Obama would never wear a red tie with his white shirt and blue suit! Looks too American!

    16. brie on October 6th, 2007 1:51 pm

I’m trying to think of a new pin that Obama can wear…something that represents his unAmerican belief!!!!

    17. brie on October 6th, 2007 5:12 pm

…14..Sparrow…Rev Wright..expect an answer, Naw, he’s too wrong to write!!!!

    18. Skyboxx on October 7th, 2007 6:31 am

Wearing a pin makes you no more Patriotic then not wearing pin makes you anti-patriotic. But his choice and answers are more disturbing. I mean you are running for PRESIDENT of the USA! Wearing its flag in the form of a PIN, probably not a bad idea. NO one will accuse him of jingoism.

What’s next? He won’t say the pledge of allegiance, because it has the words under god in it? And he doesn’t want to offend atheist? This reminds me of Bush 41. He was running a strong campaign against Clinton, had high approval ratings from the Gulf war and then all of sudden, he couldn’t get a break and he spiraled down. The rest is history, the DEMS won and we got Bubba Clinton. Maybe the DEMs are doing an inside job on Obama, (Hillary’s biggest threat) so they can get moving with the chosen one and attempt to win in 2008. The CLINTONS always remove their biggest threat and then move on. Look at Bill’s legacy. There is only one thing that can shut down the Hillary campaign right and its Obama. They can’t wait for the nomination at the convention, they need a solid base going in, so why not eliminate him now. Hillary will ride this conflict all the way to the nomination. Like she is anymore American/Patriotic?

    19. brie on October 7th, 2007 4:18 pm

Well no one is saying you have to wear the pin but it was his reason for nothing wanting to wear it. I can’t imagine any true American making a statement such as his. Something just doesn’t smell right about him! And it certainly is obvious!

    20. Auntiem on October 7th, 2007 5:52 pm

First, let me say that I am confused..Obama said he was a Christian? I was under the impression that he was a Muslim. somebody, please set me straight. I thought his mother was white and father was African and that they went to some Muslim country to study Islam ???That his father was extremely radical.

If he was already wearing a flag due to 9/11 and took it off to protest the war in Iraq he is a complete fool. What a rediculous form of protest. Maybe next he will go out and burn a flag and his wife will burn her bra like the hippies in the sixties and seventies.

    21. primapuffetta on October 12th, 2007 8:08 am

brie, Obama could always resort to the crescent moon as his symbol of where his true loyalties lie…

    22. Dee P on December 28th, 2007 9:48 pm

Let me get this straight…..Obama won’t wear the U.S. Flag pin, but yet, he wants to be president of the United States of America…..ummmm So why does he want to become president????

    23. Josa COmbs on January 7th, 2008 10:13 pm

Hi, I have been reading some things about Obama and one thing that I read was that he did not repeat the Pledge of Alligance nor, did he face the flag but, turned his back and slouched. I tried to find information on this and have not been able to. Does anyone know anything about this. It also said that he put his hand, not on the Bible but, insisted that he have the Koran. What is the truth?

    24. snowbird on January 25th, 2008 6:42 am

If Obama is elected president then the terrorism we so feared will come into our homes with no escape..no human has ever prevented a war and someone being elected president who disrespects the American flag sends chills up my spine. Why are the people so blind to what this man is peddling and exactly what he stands for? I am praying and hoping with all my heart that he will reveal his true idenity before all of America thus causing his overwhelming defeat in this election!

    25. KAREN on February 12th, 2008 11:52 pm

You people are frightening me. You sound like white supremists (Nazi). Such pettiness. Such intolorence. Does anyone here want to see an end to war and terrorism. Stiring the pot will never accomplish that. Peace talks will bring our soldiers home. I pray for peace and for a new leader that will be able to achieve that through communication with our neighbors overseas. Someone with diplomacy and someone that our neighbors will be comfortable with. Someone they will find a common ground with, yet who is clearly an American citizen. We need to find other ways of fueling our vehicles. Become independent and leave the other countries to themselves. Time to take care of our own… the sick and the needy. Dam-it. Stop and Think!!!

    26. KAREN on February 13th, 2008 12:25 am

You guys are picking at rumors. I went to a party and we played a game. It was the rumor game. One starts it and passes it on but has to add his own “two cents”. At the end of the game, you have this humungus story and it sounds nothing like it did in the beginning. So sad !!! Wasting time , playing this distructive game “Let’s bash Obama Game”. At the end of this game you will have him blowing up the earth (in your sick minds). Wake up you guys and gals. He wants the best for Americans. Republicans, stop this now! Democrats, stop this now! American’s we need to be tolerant ! Does anyone else feel this. I lost family in the VietNam War. We need an end and nothing in the past has worked. If Kennedy hadn’t been shot, he may have been able to accomplish what he started out to do…achieve World Peace. I pray for a solution. I pray for tolerence in a world that is intolerent. If I thought that wearing a towell around my head would bring peace … Alan…I would!!! Whatever it took to bring our sons home. Would You ..Alan? By the way, I was here for natalee and her family. I live in a remote mountain town and I was raised Morman. Doesn’t mean that I still am Morman. But then, who cares. If I wanted to be a professor of Zen Buddist would you damm me to hell for being Morman… Just so happens, I might be a great professor and I might do alot of good things. Tolorence!!!! We need Tolorence ! Hurrah for the US of A.

Not wearing the flag is a hoorible thing. I compare it to a Jew not wearing a Star of David or a Christian not wearing a crucifix. We can’t see his heart and we can only hear the lies that come out of his mouth.

“True Patriotism”……..In my view, this would be a direct result of one having actually SERVED in the American Military, which should be a prerequisite to run for The President of The United States and be the Commander in Chief. How can one be a Commander in Chief of a military they themselves never served in and only have “book knowledge” of?

What the heck is wrong with AMERICA?!!! Why are true Americans even giving this man a leg to stand on. He may have been born in Hawaii and partially raised in America but he IS NOT an AMERICAN at heart or any other form. Dunham (Baracks mother) married another Muslim, Lolo Soetoro who educated his stepson (Barack) as a good Muslim by enrolling him in one of Jakarta’s Wahabbi schools. Wahabbism is the radical teaching that created the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad on the industrialized world. He is a blasphemist against Americans. He refuses to say “The Pledge of Allegiance”, he refuses to wear the American Flag Lapel Pin, he refuses to fly the American Flag on his 757, and numerous other incidents against America!! Yet people claim he is an AMERICAN and should be our President!! WAKE UP AMERICA vote for our TRUE AMERICAN (John McCain is the only hope we have!!!)
