Ferguson, MO Chaos: Protesters Refused to comply with Gov. Nixon’s Midnight Curfew … 7 Arrested, One Individual Critically Shot, Police Use Tear Gas Against Mob

Curfew, what curfew?

Earlier in the day on Saturday, Gov. Jay Nixon (D-MO) had issued a state of emergency and called for a curfew (VIDEO) in Ferguson, MO after looting and rioting continued, following the announcement of the naming of the police officer, Darren Wilson, who shot and killed Michael Brown.  However, predictably there was an element that was not going to abide by the curfew and defy authority.

“This is not to silence the people of Ferguson, but to address those who are drowning out the voice of the people with their actions,” Mr. Nixon, a Democrat, told reporters and residents at a Ferguson church. “We will not allow a handful of looters to endanger the rest of this community. If we’re going to achieve justice, we must first have and maintain peace.”

Mr. Nixon added: “This is a test. The eyes of the world are watching.”

As 12 midnight came and went, some protesters disbursed; however, many staying in defiance of the 12 midnight to 5 am curfew. The result was more chaos, clashes with police (VIDEO), tear gas and arrests. As Right Wing News opined, Rioters Go Crazy In Ferguson Yet Again.

Daily News: One shot, in critical condition as Ferguson, Mo., cops crack down on protesters, arrest seven for breaking curfew.

The mayhem in Ferguson Mo. Escalated early Sunday morning as a man was shot and seven people were arrested following a confrontation between police and protesters who refused to abide by the state mandated curfew.

Authorities have not identified the man but said he was critically wounded by a gunshot. It is unclear who shot him but he was injured near an area of the town where protesters had gathered near a restaurant and some people were standing on the roof. Authorities said it did not appear he was shot by an officer.

Officers from Missouri State Highway Patrol, St. Louis city and county police worked to remove the people from the area and brought armored vehicles and tear gas. A man with a handgun as spotted in the crowd and another person was reported shooting at a police car.

“I was disappointed in the actions of tonight” said patrol Capt. Ron Johnson.

Police had earlier pledged they would not use such tactics but Johnson said they were worried about officers’ safety.

“Tonight’s response was a proper one,” he said, adding that he was “disappointed” that rioting continued.

Chattanooga,Tennessee Volkswagen Workers Reject UAW Union Vote … Devastating Defeat for Unions … “A Southern Man Don’t Need Them Around Anyhow!”

Tennessee, it’s called the “Volunteer” state, not the union state …

Lynard Skynard may have been singing about ‘Sweet Home Alabama,’ but the same holds true in Tennessee and the rest of the South … “Well, I hope Neil Young  UAW will remember, A Southern man don’t need him around anyhow!”

YES TO AMERICAN WORKERS, NO TO UNION THUGS!!! Workers at a Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee have voted no against union representation in a devastating loss for the UAW, United Auto Workers union. The vote was  712-626, that was released late Friday night opposing unionization of the Detroit based union. Imagine that, the workers in Chattanooga, TN did not want their plant or their city going the way of Detroit? As Reuters  reports, this failure to unionize VW is a stinging defeat that could accelerate the decades-long decline of the United Auto Workers. Prior to the vote, Barack Obama interjected himself into the discussion on the side of “Big Labor”. Of course, Obama’s message was divisive and stated that the union representation of VW was “settled science.”

Obama_UAW

President Barack Obama on Friday waded into a high-stakes union vote at Volkswagen AG’s plant in Tennessee, accusing Republican politicians who oppose unionization of being more concerned about German shareholders than U.S. workers.

Obama’s comments, made at a closed-door meeting of Democratic lawmakers in Maryland, came as the vote to allow union representation at the Chattanooga plant drew to a close.

Obama’s interjection in the war of words on Friday, albeit behind closed doors, underscored how much is stake in the three-day vote by VW’s 1,550 hourly workers. The vote is due to end at 8:30 p.m. ET and the results could be announced soon after that.

Obama said everyone was in favor of the UAW representing Volkswagen except for local politicians who “are more concerned about German shareholders than American workers,” according to a Democratic aide who attended the meeting with Democratic lawmakers in the House of Representatives.

NOT SO FAST BARACK, WRONG AGAIN … Not everyone was in favor of UAW representation ... including 712 workers who voted in the majority and said NO!!!

Union organizers in the South suffered a setback Friday when workers at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, voted against being represented by the United Auto Workers.

The vote was 712 against the union and 626 in favor. There are about 1,550 hourly workers at the plant who were eligible to vote.

The vote was seen as the UAW’s best chance to organize a nonunion auto plant, because Volkswagen management did not oppose the effort.

Winners and Losers:

Winners: The VW workers, The city of Chattanooga, The state of Tennessee, Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), right to work, Volkswagen, America

Losers: UAW, Unions, Big Labor, President Barack Obama, liberalism, Democrats, Thuggery

UPDATE I: Frank Fischer, CEO of Volkswagen Chattanooga, thanked the workers for participating  in the vote in the following statement.

“They have spoken, and Volkswagen will respect the decision of the majority,” said Fischer in a statement.

Of about 1,500 Volkswagen workers eligible to vote, 89% cast ballots between Wednesday and Friday night.

“We think it was unfortunate that there was outside influence,” said Gary Casteel, UAW regional director who led the unsuccessful campaign. “I want to urge the VW employees to go back to the business of building cars. There are some issues to be sorted out.

UPDATE II: From the Chatanooga Times Free Press: UAW President Bob Kingexpresses his disappointment of the vote.

UAW President Bob King said he was “deeply disappointed” by the outcome, but insisted that the union will regroup and consider its options, which may include a challenge to the results because of what he said was interference by Tennessee Republicans.

“To lose by such a close margin is very, very difficult,” King said. “We’re also outraged by the outside interference in this election. Never before in this country have we seen a U.S. senator, a governor and a leader of the Legislature threaten the company with incentives and threaten workers with a loss of product. That’s outrageous.”

Jack Nerad, executive market analyst of Kelley Blue Book, said UAW put a lot of work into trying to organize VW’s Chattanooga operation. He termed it “a publicity setback for certain.”

UPDATE III: And now for the most hypocritical “sour grapes” comment of the post vote outcome from the unions, they actually had the audacity to claim their were “outside outsiders trying to influence and intimidate VW workers.”  Who are the outsiders UAW? That would be you, trying to come to a Southern, right to work state and causing chaos within a business that came to the state to operate and has been successful because they do not have to deal with unions. A note to the unions, Sen. Bob Corker is a Tennessee senator, whose job it is to represent the people of Tennessee. He is hardly an outsider. The UAW and Barack Obama are the outside “carpetbaggers”.  Also, how comical is it for unions to call out others for intimidation … the UAW and other unions are infamous for intimidation and thuggery.

During three days of voting, the UAW repeatedly complained of outsiders trying to influence and intimidate VW workers into voting against joining the union.

One specific complaint involves Tennessee Senator Bob Corker, a Republican, and vocal critic of the UAW.

During the vote, Corker said he had been told by people close to Volkswagen that the German automaker would not bring production of a new vehicle to Chattanooga if workers rejected the union offer.

Snarf’s Sub Shop in Chicago That Was Target of Union Thugs Demanding $15 an Hour Shuts Down & Fires Its Employees Via Email Just Days Before Christmas

Question to the ‘Fight for 15′ crowd … which is better $9.50 an hour or $0.00?

Snarf’s Sub Shop in Chicago has closed it’s doors and fired all of their staff just days before Christmas via email. Snarf’s was the target of the SEIU and was closed for four days, from December 5 until December 8, as employees went on striking demanding $15 an hour and better benefits. Now they are all out of work just before the holidays. From the files of, don’t ask for things they might just come true.  So hows that strike and forcing your employer to shut down working out for you now?

You want to be paid $15/hr to make a sandwich, are you kidding?

Union_fight for 15

Wonder how the guy with the FF15 Victory … Snarf’s Shut Down sign feels about now?

A Chicago sandwich shop has fired all of its 20 staff over email just two days before Christmas.

Staff at Snarf’s Sub Shop in River North received the bad news on Sunday night in a group email notifying them that the drastic action was effective immediately.

The company blamed ‘increased competition and losses’ for the firings.

Director of operations Doug Besant said in the email the restaurant will likely close for a month as they remodel and reconcept the business into a burger joint.

But the move comes less than a month after Snarf’s workers rallied for higher wages.

The email, obtained by ChicagoGrid.com, read: ‘Due to increased competition and losses, ownership has decided to consider remodeling and reconcepting the store at 600 West Chicago Ave.

The sandwich shop claims that the firings were not a retaliation for their strike. So what if they were? Chicago fast-food, retail workers join in nationwide protest over wages. Honestly, if my business was hanging on by a thread and individuals picketed by business forcing me to shut down for days, they all would have been fired then. Sorry, making sandwiches is not a $15 a hr. job. Hmm, Chicago is a union town eh, so was Detroit, how are they doing these days?

Clustered around a giant, bright green “Grinch,” the protesters — part of a “100-city strike wave”— are demanding a $15-an-hour wage and the right to form a union without retaliation.

“Chicago is a union town!” they chanted outside Snarf’s Sandwiches, 600 W. Chicago, one of several stops during a planned daylong demonstration in the city.

The group was expected to include workers from McDonald’s, Subway, CVS Pharmacy, Sears — among other companies.

Duck Dynasty’s’ Phil Robertson on Indefinite Leave Afrter Following His Remarks on Homosexuality (Update: Phil Robertson Statement – ‘I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me’.)

Freedom of Speech & Religion is dead at ‘A&E” … GOOD GRIEF A&E, LET THEM BE!!!

Duck Dynasty is a huge success and loved by so many, but the show may be going the way of the Do-Do bird. A&E has placed Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson on indefinite leave after he dare speak the truth of his religious beliefs in an interview with GQ Magazine. So once again we see that a network does not believe in freedom of speech or freedom of religion for an individual to make comments on his own time that had nothing to do with the show, Duck Dynasty. The comments that got Phil Robertson in trouble:

“It seems like, to me, a vagina – as a man – would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me,” Robertson stated. “I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

Hat Tip: The Drudge Report

It didn’t take long for the LEFT, GLAAD and LGBT community to go after their scalp.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

A note to A&E, Phil Robertson did not say that his comments or beliefs were that of A&E. So much for tolerance at A&E. The reason why 9 million people watch Duck Dynasty is because these folks are common, folksy people that many can relate to and are real. They are not a train wreck like most all reality shows. How shameful that A&E be pressured by GLAAD.

A&E has placed Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson on indefinite hiatus following anti-gay remarks he made in a recent profile in GQ.

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty,” A&E said in a statement. “His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

The news comes after Robertson compared homosexuality to bestiality in an interview with the magazine. He’ll likely appear in season four, which bows Jan. 15, since production is largely wrapped.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus,” Robertson says in the January issue of the men’s magazine. “That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

Weasel Zippers adds, Phil Robertson said, “It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me.” So true … and I would add that probably 99% of the men that watch Duck Dynasty probably feel the same.

UPDATE I: A&E released this statement from Phil Robertson addressing the controversy:

“I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior. My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.” Beyond that.

UPDATE II: Just another case of MEDIA BIAS.

Many people have argued over the years, in the face of the obvious evidence, that the media cannot be systematically biased to the Left because it would not make business sense to spurn more than half the population as customers. However, the recent decision by A&E to fire its biggest and most lucrative TV star because it is more concerned about catering to homosexuals than making money vividly demonstrates that politics and propaganda are more important to the media companies than making a profit:

FEAR THE BEARD!!!

A&E best be very careful as a backlash boycott and protest of the network and their sponsors by the 9 million viewers of Duck Dynasty could be right around the corner. A&E might want to “Fear the Beard,” this down home, country family is more popular than A&E.

UPDATE III: Sarah Palin blasts A&E for their suspension of Phil Robertson; Declares free speech ‘endangered species.’

Olympic Spinal Tap Version – Smell the Glove: Team USA Olympic Mittens For You … Made in China …

Don’t look for the union label, Team USA Olympic mittens for the masses … MADE IN CHINA.

One of these days the manufacturers will get this right. After having been criticized two years ago for having U.S. Olympic team’s uniforms made in China, it appears they have not quite fixed the issue entirely.  Don’t look now but we have an America with two sets of mittens. There are those made for the Olympic athletes and that you can buy for $98 a pair on the Ralph Lauren website or the knockoffs for $14 a pair at the USOC’s official online shop, made in China. Wouldn’t you just love to know what the labor and material costs are for the $98 mittens as opposed to the ones made in China?

Its kind of like the ‘This is Spinal Tap’ of Olympic Mittens … ‘Smell the Glove Mittens’

This is what you wanted … Ralph Lauren, made in USA

USA Mittens_Real

This is What You Got, Made in China

USA Mittens

The outside of the mittens say “Go USA.” The insides say “Made in China.”

Less than two years after being criticized for having the U.S. Olympic team’s uniforms made in China, the U.S. Olympic Committee has another wardrobe malfunction on its hands.

The red-white-and-blue mittens it’s selling to raise funds for winter athletes were produced in China.

It says so right on the tag on the inside.

The USOC is charging $14 a pair for the blue hand-warmers that have the word “Go” embroidered in red on the left mitten and “USA” on the right. Also part of that left mitten is the tag, which says the gloves are “100% acrylic,” “One Size Fits Most” and “Made in China.”

USOC spokesman Patrick Sandusky said the “official” mittens being worn by the athletes at the opening ceremony are made in the USA. They’re also available to the public for $98 a pair on the Ralph Lauren website, which proudly proclaims its products are “Made in America” almost everywhere you look on the page for its official Team USA collection.

But the federation, which receives no government funding and is always trying to find new ways to raise money for its athletes, was going for a lower price point for its fundraiser. With the games more than a month away, it has raised $500,000 from the mitten sales.

“We wanted to create a fundraising opportunity where almost anyone could support Team USA,” Sandusky said.

The foreign-made mittens are available at the USOC’s official online shop of the U.S. Olympic Team.
