Duck Dynasty’s’ Phil Robertson on Indefinite Leave Afrter Following His Remarks on Homosexuality (Update: Phil Robertson Statement – ‘I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me’.)

Freedom of Speech & Religion is dead at ‘A&E” … GOOD GRIEF A&E, LET THEM BE!!!

Duck Dynasty is a huge success and loved by so many, but the show may be going the way of the Do-Do bird. A&E has placed Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson on indefinite leave after he dare speak the truth of his religious beliefs in an interview with GQ Magazine. So once again we see that a network does not believe in freedom of speech or freedom of religion for an individual to make comments on his own time that had nothing to do with the show, Duck Dynasty. The comments that got Phil Robertson in trouble:

“It seems like, to me, a vagina – as a man – would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me,” Robertson stated. “I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

Hat Tip: The Drudge Report

It didn’t take long for the LEFT, GLAAD and LGBT community to go after their scalp.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

A note to A&E, Phil Robertson did not say that his comments or beliefs were that of A&E. So much for tolerance at A&E. The reason why 9 million people watch Duck Dynasty is because these folks are common, folksy people that many can relate to and are real. They are not a train wreck like most all reality shows. How shameful that A&E be pressured by GLAAD.

A&E has placed Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson on indefinite hiatus following anti-gay remarks he made in a recent profile in GQ.

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty,” A&E said in a statement. “His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

The news comes after Robertson compared homosexuality to bestiality in an interview with the magazine. He’ll likely appear in season four, which bows Jan. 15, since production is largely wrapped.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus,” Robertson says in the January issue of the men’s magazine. “That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

Weasel Zippers adds, Phil Robertson said, “It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me.” So true … and I would add that probably 99% of the men that watch Duck Dynasty probably feel the same.

UPDATE I: A&E released this statement from Phil Robertson addressing the controversy:

“I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior. My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.” Beyond that.

UPDATE II: Just another case of MEDIA BIAS.

Many people have argued over the years, in the face of the obvious evidence, that the media cannot be systematically biased to the Left because it would not make business sense to spurn more than half the population as customers. However, the recent decision by A&E to fire its biggest and most lucrative TV star because it is more concerned about catering to homosexuals than making money vividly demonstrates that politics and propaganda are more important to the media companies than making a profit:

FEAR THE BEARD!!!

A&E best be very careful as a backlash boycott and protest of the network and their sponsors by the 9 million viewers of Duck Dynasty could be right around the corner. A&E might want to “Fear the Beard,” this down home, country family is more popular than A&E.

UPDATE III: Sarah Palin blasts A&E for their suspension of Phil Robertson; Declares free speech ‘endangered species.’

It is time for the real people with quality values to put pressure on the “left wing nuts” to stop their agenda of being the PC police.

The homosexuals and transsexuals comprise less than two per cent of the population. There is no reason to let this bunch set the value standards.

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”
Ya left that out. I wonder why?
As a supposed defender of the constitution I’m surprised you don’t understand that freedom of speech does not translate to a private business.
A&E had every right to suspend this guy. I guess we’ll see if his Paula Dean defense works.

A&E is a business that cares about viewership, peroid.

So they’ve made a financial decision that the LGBT viewership is more lucrative than the “straight Christian.(likely under pressure from the White House).

May the band of “Ducks” find new wetlands to nest.

The gay and lesbian community are very vocal. But the rest of us listen and keep our mouths shut. It’s time for the rest of the population to speak up. Let A&E know how you feel. We still have freedom of speech at the moment, but we really don’t know how long that may last!

    5. Jase on December 19th, 2013 3:31 pm

Homosexuals aren’t real people and don’t posses quality values #1?

    6. katts on December 19th, 2013 5:20 pm

Why isn’t the Lesiban and Gay community pulling this crap on the US Islamic community.

Oh yea, no court dates nor punitive damage awards, just back alley beheadings……

      Now thats an Obama dilemma

    8. Tamikosmom on December 19th, 2013 9:15 pm

What would be happening at this moment if a follower of Islam had utter those words rather than a follower of Christ.

Probably nothing. Why? A&E would anticipate the Islamic backlash. Protests would erupt in the streets of America … in the streets of the Islamic world.

Think about it. Obama is currently making a stand regarding Russia’s political position on homosexuality. Would he be making the same stand if the Olympics were being sponsored by an Islamic regime?

Maybe Christians should take to the streets en mass in “peaceful” protest against the double standard when it comes to free speech … freedom of religion.

    9. Jase on December 19th, 2013 11:19 pm

Oh. My. Lord. Have you heard his rant in 2010 on TMZ about homosexuals? Have you read what he said about blacks? It’s only going to be a matter of time till we see the video of him dropping the N-bomb. No wonder A&E suspended him.

SM: Hmm, then you are saying that A&E knew exactly what they were getting with the Robertson’s? So how can they now claim that they are surprised and outraged? Seems to me that if they had such an issue, they should have never started the show in the first place.

    10. Jase on December 19th, 2013 11:33 pm

Angry SM? No, just baffled by the stupidity regarding First Amendment rights.
I do find it funny how the perpetual victim Palin made this about herself though. She’s really is pathetic.

Folks: For those here that believe Phil’s first amendment rights/freedom of speech has been trampled on because A&E suspended him for what they believe was offensive, go read the 1st sentence of the 3rd to last paragraph of Scared Monkeys’ terms of service. It’s right on the bottom of the website.
Read that and tell me how that differs to much from what Phil more than likely had in his contract with his private sector employer.
      ________________________________________
SM: Once again, if you do not understand the difference between personal, snarky attacks and religious beliefs, you might want to learn to work on that. A structured opinion is one thing, name calling and personal attacks are quite different.

A&E had the right to fire Phil, no difference than Phil had the right to say what he did. But to allow yourself to be pressured by an organization who treats others with intolerance and claiming to do so in the name of tolerance is ridiculous. However, A&E will suffer the consequences, just like the backlash that GLAAD, Cracker Barrel and every other intolerant PC group will.

The American people are sick and tired of hypocrisy.

I’m disgusted with some of these bigoted, self-righteous people writing this commentary. Just because you may be Christian, it doesn’t mean you are superior to everyone else.

One day you will be judged by God, and hopefully it will be just as harsh as you judge other people!

Many people were prejudice against the African-American culture, and they fought for their freedom. Well, the LGBT community can do the same!

A&E is correct for listening, because they cannot support Mr. Robertson’s statement. I come from a Christian family, and my family would never speak the way he did.
