Barack Obama Quick to Cry Racism in Arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr & Cambridge Police Sgt. James Crowley

There are two sides to a story, too bad Obama didn’t care.

The Obamamessiah who was supposed to bring peace & tranquility has now started a race issue. All because he did not care enough to wait for the facts. Who knew the change that people voted for was electing Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to the White House? One would think that The One would have the brains to wait for the details before crying racism. Maybe Obama was listening those 20 years while in the pews with reverend Wright?

Racism is based on ignorance. However, what would you call commenting on a story and calling it racism that you knew nothing about other than the fact that a black man was arrested that was your friend.

That would be called IGNORANT!

Thus was the case with President Barack Obama when he answered the final question of his Obamacare disastrous press conference the other night. The “not ready for prime time” President literally submarined his entire health care agenda by answering a question regarding the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr who was arrested in Cambridge, MA by Police Sgt. James Crowley.

It was bad enough that Obama attacked doctors during his Obamacare presser, but then, without any real knowledge of events of the arrest, called the Cambridge police stupid. So in one press conference on health care, Obama manages to bash both docs and cops. Once again we have Obama acting in a rush to judgment. Much like the rush that he wanted put on his health care reform. It is bad enough The One made the comment without knowing the facts, but he refuses to back off them. Was it not the Democrats that used to call GWB unbending in his ways?

Neither President Obama nor his press secretary would back off from the president’s statement Wednesday night that the Cambridge police department acted “stupidly” in arresting Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates.

The fact of the matter is no one knows what really happened and for a sitting President of the United States to make such in irresponsible comment … is just that, irresponsible. This is hardly the actions of what a President should do. However, when one has training wheels on, what else are we supposed to get in return?

Bill Cosby ’shocked’ at Obama’s statement on Harvard prof’s arrest

The Gateway Pundit has other reactions to Obama’s comments

On a Boston radio program this morning, Bill Cosby suggested that President Obama spoke too soon on the controversial arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates.

“I’ve heard about five different reports [on the details of the arrest],” Cosby said on Boston’s WZLX. “If I’m the president of the United States, I don’t care how much pressure people want to put on it about race, I’m keeping my mouth shut.”

“I was shocked to hear the president making this kind of statement,” Cosby said referring to the president’s remarks during last night’s press conference

Sgt. James Crowley tells his side of the story. I wonder if Barack Obama cares to hear the other side? Probably not, seeing that he already popped off and would look like a complete idiot if he reversed himself.

Sgt. James Crowley said Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. was combative from the moment the officer arrived at his house last week to respond to a call about a possible burglary. As the confrontation escalated, Crowley said he warned Gates that he risked arrest.

“The second warning was with me holding a set of handcuffs in my hands — something I really didn’t want to do,” Crowley said in a radio interview. “The professor at any time could have resolved the issue by quieting down and/or going back inside his house.”

yes, racism against white people by the blacks.

    2. Rusty Bridges on July 24th, 2009 10:33 am

He has been chomping at the bit to pull the race card.

Is this the chicken chit race bs Holder was whining about?

    3. Rusty Bridges on July 24th, 2009 10:43 am

About twenty years ago I got lost in a part of the city I just moved to. I got pulled over by a white police man solely for being in the wrong neighborhood givin my skin color, thats what he stated. He said that the only time any white people come down to this part of town is to buy drugs. I checked out clean and was sent on my way. I should have kicked and screamed racial profiling but chose to go on with my life instead.

Obama is saying that when a black person is in their own home, it is OK to be unresponsive and beligerant to a white police officer merely because of the country’s history of poor race relations and the documented phenomenon of racial profiling. This sure makes the cops’ jobs easier, doesn’t it? There was no racial profiling here, other than Gates’ jumping to the patently incorrect conclusion that he was being treated unfairly by Whitey. Isn’t this what he has made his career writing and speaking about ? Maybe Obama should make him Anti-Discrimination Czar. What if there had been a home invasion in progress, and the culprits had Mrs. Gates (assuming there is one) in a nearby room with a hand over her mouth and a gun to her head, and Gates was just telling the officers to go away at the orders of the criminals? The officer walks away like Elmer Fudd, Gates and his wife are tortured, and afterward Obama tells the world the cops “acted stupidly” by not further investigating.

    6. St Stephen on July 24th, 2009 11:42 am

I agree that what was needed in this situation was a level headed Sheriff Andy Taylor, not a Barney Fife, which is what happened.

This was not a case of racism, but of an officer too quick to pull rank and can’t stand to be questioned(which he was). Barney lost his cool and arrested Otis, who subsequently was not charged by Andy(fair move).

I Guess Deputy Fife felt intimidated by a big mouth, whereas Sheriff Taylor just applied common sense.

I am sure I saw this episode on Mayberry, RFD when it first came out.

    7. St Stephen on July 24th, 2009 11:45 am

By the way, President Obama’s remarks reminds me of an old saying from a Charlie Chan movie:

“Better to keep mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it, and remove all doubt.”

It seems he has not been applying this logic as of late(or ever).

    8. Rusty Bridges on July 24th, 2009 11:52 am

      #5, very well said.

I wondered if Gates was another race baiter.

I see now that Eric Holders great “Race Chickens” speech was really just s call to all black racists to begin their race baiting tactics.

I wondered why the nations top cop was making those kind of comments, didn’t seem to fit the job description. He seemed nervous when he made them like he was forced.

I think there is something esle going on here. And that is, the amount of sensitivity towards Obami’s remark, that might not have been this apparent 6 months ago. He obviously had a point of view, and stated it. NOW, it is being criticized, where I think 6 months ago it would have blown over. Maybe I’m wrong, or maybe I have a case of wishful thinking, but I believe Obambi has found himself under the ‘Electorate Microscope’.

    11. rightknight on July 24th, 2009 1:43 pm

Obowma is working hard in his
attempt to turn the Gates’ thing
into a Black and White problem
rather than a legal problem. He
just finished a TV ‘speech’ (read
      self-saving promotion) admitting
in part that Gates was complicit
at a minimum in the conflict.

    12. ANewGirl on July 24th, 2009 3:16 pm

Today THE CHOSEN ONE at least acknowledged his lack of chosing the right words (this is what happens when there is no teleprompter) and called the Sgt. in Cambridge MA to offer apologies.

This man was doing his job, and met with much aggression by Professor Gates. Obama’s words were not well received here in Beantown and abroad….this man taught courses in racial profiling…so DUH and stuff it all you liberal haters!

P.S. Harvard Schmarvard—the crime rate on Campus alone (throw in a few murders here and there over the last 5 years, too) and the ridiculous tuition leaves much to be desired. Take a look behind the scenes, it’s not all that it is cracked up to be.

    13. BUN on July 24th, 2009 5:22 pm

This constant “he’s trying to get me because I am black” is just wearing a little thin…it really doesn’t matter your skin color, when a policeman is talking to one, it behooves one to be pretty nice, not a rule but a smart idea.

    14. chica on July 24th, 2009 5:43 pm

I admire the black woman that called in and said that the white police officer was within his rights for his own safety, as the black male was antagonistic from the start failing to cooperate. I think obama’s comment was uncalled for and I feel he had no business putting his two cents in. it only makes me believe that every time an officer does his job he is going to pull the race card.(OBAMA) Not good ! I lost any respect for him !! I am surprised that al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson didnt give the president any kudos on his actions. I am begining to see that he is unseasoned and lacks judgement on many issues. Not just this issue but many other’s, he is lacking professionalism and is in serious need of the vice presidents advice as to when to open his mouth and not to!! he totaly made an ass of himself.

    15. St Stephen on July 24th, 2009 5:49 pm

      #13 BUN

It wears a little thin, because the skin is thin.

Whatever color, race or belief system, it does behoove one to thicken the skin and stop being such a panty waist…and treat the officer with respect that you want to be treated with same.

Although the loudmouth should not have been arrested, I do not blame the officer for wanting to shut him up.

Whatever one may think of Mayberry, it is the Barney Fifes of the nation that are on our side, and ultimately, mistakes or not, he acts in our best interests.

No apologies are necessary on either side, but I do think that the two can shake hands and let bygones be bygones.

It is, after all, a manly thing to do.

    16. John on July 24th, 2009 6:39 pm

My wife for one, sincerely beleives that we should all be arrested and subject to rendition if we leave the keys in the house.

She also has no problems with black or white Americans getting locked up with gusto.

I’m afraid the chip on Obowma’s shoulder was shown big time. I am afraid that the truth was shown by Obowma and what he truly feels about the USA.

    18. Greg the mongoose on July 24th, 2009 6:53 pm

I have been watching Henry Louis Gates Jr. on PBS for years. His whole career is based on racism against blacks. Now with a black president he has become a bitter nobody. Gates Jr. staged this arrest.

I remember a case were a WHITE rancher (Montana or Wyoming?) refused to identify himself to the police on his property. He was arrested. The case went all the way to the Supreme court. The Supremes ruled you must identify yourself to the police! Name and address and ID no BS!

Now Obama wants to takes sides with the Gates Jr.
I guess all the racists voted Obama into office also?

The USA has turned into a bad B movie. Our chief law enforcement officer “Obama” has shown his
      true color.

Wow, you said that the USA has turned into a bad B movie.

As a lover of the old B movies(1949 and 50s) I take offense. The good guys won back then. Not like the movies today. Maybe the USA is turning into a present-day movie.

That is all I have to say, thanks.

    20. kitty on July 24th, 2009 7:53 pm

I’m looking forward to hearing the 911 tapes that may be released soon.

The officer, acted appropriately and I was surprised mostly that Mr. Gates did not thank the two officers for coming to his home and followed procedure ~ asking for his ID,(that’s what set Mr. Gates off) ~ and the accusations began that he was being treated poorly because of “race”…

with the officers arriving to Mr. Gates home, to investigate a break in… you’d think Mr. Gates would have been less aggressive when the officer asked for his I.D. and had been respectfully grateful ~ for the police to ask appropriate questions in finding out if this man, was truly the occupant of the home… it seemed simple enough a request… something, I’d sure be grateful if I was asked and would comply…

I would think that most folks response would have been one of thanks to the officers, thanks to the passerby who called the Cambridge police, grateful for neighbors who care enough to have a neighborhood watch and grateful for professional officers, who follow protocol and are cool/level headed and NOT racist…and behave in a professional manner and quickly answered a call to a possible break in ~ after a woman called to say she saw 2 men with backpacks at the home forcing the front door open… the officer even requested that Harvard police come ~ to help I.D. Mr. Gates… who seems to be a highly educated man himself… we all make mistakes, and he came home late from traveling and perhaps, in exhaustion, reacted the way he did ~ rather than respond… there are 2 sides to the story here and somewhere there’s truth in the middle…

This has been so blown out of proportion, sad ~ very sad…

I like to state that most Bostonians & surrounding communities, live in harmony ~ Beantown has been known to embrace every ethnic background, making that city and communities great ~

Sgt. Lashley that was with Crowley, defended his partner in saying he acted appropriately and defended his actions 100% ~ I do not like differentiating someone by the color of their skin, however, this officer Crowley was “white” officer Lashley was “black”… Mr. Gates, is both “black & white”…

I do hope, that they Mr. Gates and Officer Crowley and even our Governor, Duval Patrick have that beer with the President, (Crowley’s suggestion) and shake hands and play nice… our country does not need seeing grown men behave in such manner ~ set an example…

Leaders, need to take this opportunity to bring together those involved and have resolve… skip the lawsuits, Massachusetts taxpayers are paying enough and everyone, please move forward…

we are all part of the HUMAN race ~

I read the black police officers report. Did you? Gates refused to identify himself. He even called out the officers moma.

My skin show I am black but I never will be an African American. My heart says I am an American and will only be an proud American forever. I voted for my president becasue he was transparent. I do not believe in anyway this was racial profiling, but Gates and Obama turned it into rasism. I voted for Obama because he was transparent. Ha! BHO do not count on my vote in 2012. I believe Mr. Gates and BHO should apologize to we the American people (not just black) and especailly the Cambridge Police and Sgt. James Crowley. You guys did your job as well as good any responsible law enforcement person would. Thank you for doing a great job. Our governor, president, and radical Professor should be ashamed to make this into racial situation. Ok Mr. President you made some African American happy by bringing race into it, but you lost respect by most of us Americans – Black, white, orwhatever color or mix. Why are we black so thin skinned or why are so some other races so thin skinned?
When you Sgt. James Crowley meet Gates and obama in the whitehouse, do not apology as you did nothing wrong. You sgt did a job that we expect out of the police department. Thank God you belong to one of the great police departments in our entire country. To your police department Sgt. Crowley I give them my hand. Let us all become just Americans and maybe racial divides will go away forever.
Mr. President sometime in your career, please respect we minorites by keeping your mouth shut spewing garbage instead of making we minorites standout like a sore thumb. If you took time to read the facts you surely would not have appeared as studid as you did. Have I been discriminated against? If I had thin skin like you do, I would say maybe yes, thanks to God and my parents training I was brought up right. Too bad your father didn’t stay with you. A child needs a father figure in their family.

I said NO b Movies back then(40s and 50s) were bad. Do you read just what you want to read?

Also, moma is museum of modern art. Do you mean momma? If he called the officer’s momma out of her name then all bets are off, I guess.

Finally, what is your major malfunction? And why do you feel the need to be so thin-skinned?

      et tu, brute?

Hmmm, years ago we had an audible alarm on our house out in the country. We were planning to be away for the weekend so had made arrangements for our neighbor to keep an eye out. Before we went out of town we went to a church function and the wind blew open our back door. The neighbor went to investigate, ended up on the back deck, checking the open back door when the police showed up, shoved him against the wall of the house and handcuffed him. He was then asked for an explanation, ID and the police went in and checked the house before finally releasing him. Standard police procedure. Oh, and our neighbor was white.

Dear #25 Stephen I must agree with you on one point most current films bite.:-) Iam not sure if its the writers, actors or both? Iam thirty years younger. But I remember going to see double feature movies so bad we would laugh and never expect to see the movie on late night TV. Like Jaws 3D, and Galaxy of terror.

#23 Robert: I’m glad you see it. We all have been “profiled” or had someone judge that we are something based on our outside appearance. Those who are overweight, women, blonds, the poor, someone with a physical deformity, etc. And yes, those with a different colored skin.

BUT, we either set our minds to ignore it, disprove it or realize that bigoted people exist and simply move on. We do NOT allow ourselves to be victims by subscribing to THEIR stereotypes.

Obama thought someone was profiling him because they thought he was the person who sat people at a restaurant? Why? It’s happened to me and I’m not black. Because he was predisposed to see racism in everything that happens in his life. Gates saw racism because that’s what he choose to see. He should thank his neighbors for being watchful enough to actually call the police when they saw someone they thought was breaking into the house. He should be thankful that the police actually responded and took the possible threat seriously. I sure would want to know that if the police showed up to my house they wouldn’t accept the first story they heard and walk away.

On the other hand- we also have a lot to be proud of. While there is corruption inside every level of Politics and Law Enforcement as well==one thing we can do well in LE in this State is Serve & Protect! Has anyone ever had the priviledge of dealing with a Massachusetts Statie? Trained like no others, and it shows. OFFicer Crowley didnot use good judgement. #33 Sgt. Crowley did turn & walk away and Mr. Gates continued to yell at him from the porch. So Sgt. Crowley arrested Mr. Gates. Mr. Gates should have gone back inside and kept his big mouth shut. No, he had to keep up his little tyrant up and wouldn’t let it go. He had an attitude when the cops showed up on the scene. You should get your facts straight. He was doing his job. It had nothing to do with race until Mr. Gates made it about race. Sgt. Crowley’s partner was a black man and he agrees said Sgt. 35. ROBERT on August 3rd, 2009 1:24 am

The president not only furthered the already problematic attitude of racism in this country by his bigoted mouth, his own racial profiling that he “supposedly” is against, deciding what the officer was a White racist that is against any person that is black AND even more importantly the president Abused, I repeat, Abused his presidential power to make a decision based upon nothing more than a scant few pieces of information with no Evidence to substantiate it and not finding out the facts—-allllll of them—before opening his bigoted mouth and acting in his own version stupidly deciding on the issue. Also, he was in another way biased//prejudiced by acting as he did because Gates was a friend and also black. If the same thing happened with the races reversed and President Bush acted as obama did there would have been a tsunami of “racial profiling”; “prejudice”; “racism”, etc for the epitomy of racists: jesse jackson, al sharpton, and all the other black racists. They are all splitting this country into a divided nation. I could but won’t continue; I have unlimited things to say. Time and space won’t allow though.
