Grand Jury Reviews Case of Lori Drew and Internet Suicide of 13-year-old Megan Meier
Maybe there will be a form of justice after all in the case of the internet suicide of 13 year old Megan Meier. A federal grand jury has issued a subpoena to MySpace.com in a probe stemming from the suicide of Megan Meier. The 13 year old had received threatening messages from who she perceived to be a 16 year old boy, Josh Evans.
Federal prosecutors are considering charging a mother in the girl’s neighborhood with defrauding MySpace by creating a false account that she, her daughter and a teenage employee used to fool 13-year-old Megan Meier into believing she was communicating with a 16-year-old boy, the Los Angeles Times said on its Web site, citing unidentified sources.
It said its sources insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the case.
Prosecutors are trying to seek fraud charges in the case against Lori Drew for impersonating a 16 year old boy on MySpace.com. Prosecutors initially stated that no charges would be filed as they stated, “no charges could be applied under current law”. However, that may not necessarily be the case when one thinks outside the box.
Megan, of suburban St. Louis, hanged herself in October 2006 after receiving cruel messages from the fictional boy she had befriended online, including one saying the world would be better off without her.
The neighborhood woman, Lori Drew, has denied creating the account but acknowledged being aware of it. She also has denied sending any messages to Megan or being aware of the unkind messages.
Prosecutors in Missouri declined to charge anyone because no laws appeared to apply to the case. (Yahoo News)

I was wondering if lori drew was related to the fat pig anita vandersweat in any way shape or form
This poor little angel. I don’t understand these parents that encourage their kids to be so darned cruel!! If she was aware of what her daughter was doing, she should be help accountable!!
Our teen aged girls can be so fragile emotionially, we need to nurture them not torment them!!!
Lori Drew deserves the DEATH PENALTY!!
Justice for Megan
The woman (lori drew) is mentally unstable and the state should get her child(ren) away from her. Lord knows what she is capable of doing.
lori drew is creating another vandersweat lori is trying to sweep this under the carpet. She needs to get punished so her daughter will learn that you cant pull a vandersweat in the USA and get away with it
I hope myspace is able to help them with the information they need. This woman should be punished for harassing that poor child. Whose the adult here? And look what happened…just tragic. They need some laws in place b/c this is the crime of the future…
This little girl deserves justice and that woman should pay for what she has done.
I hope this bitch Drew gets what she deserves.
she really makes me sick.
1-8
I see we all agree here on this subject.
Has anybody seen a picture of lori drew? She deserves punishment big time.
Bravo!
To not prosecute this woman would be a crime itself. How sick. Teens are so very very sensitive at that age, and that sick woman knew it. Put her away, and throw away the key, it is no different than if she would have poisoned her, or pulled the trigger. A mother at that, a grown woman, I hope she gets what she deserves.
I hope they do something to Lori Drew because as an adult and mother, she certainly should have know just how cruel she was being. This is so totally sick that adult could be so mean and cruel to a child regardless of the outcome. She certainly needs a lot of help and her children need a safe place away from her. Imagine what they’ve suffered at her hands.
[...] Drew has pleaded not guilty to one count of conspiracy and three counts of accessing computers without authorization. She could be sentenced to as many as 20 years in prison if convicted of all counts. [...]
