Is Joran Van der Sloot the Next Roman Polanski … Will Joran be Extradited & Ever See the Inside of an Alabama Court Room?

If you can’t do the time, then don’t do the crime … make Joran Van der Sloot face JUSTICE in the United States!

Will Joran Van der Sloot ever face justice in the United States and see the inside of an Alabama court room? Or will Joran be the next Roman Polanski who is not extradited back to the US to face his crimes? Joran Van der Sloot presently faces murder charges in Peru for the death of 21 year old Stephany Flores. Van der Sloot faces a potential 30 years in prison in Peru.

jvds_nh_sf1

With Joran Van der Sloot already have been given a free pass and a get out of jail free card by the Aruban legal system, should the “Little Dutch boy” also be allowed to skate on the extortion charges against him in the US? No, extradite Van der Sloot to face his crimes after he serves his time in the Peruvian prison. This punk already was already allowed to not face justice, Peru, US, Holland do not let it happen again.

In addition to facing murder charges in the gruesome death of Stephany Flores in Peru, the prime suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway has also been charged with attempting to extort money from Natalee’s family.

Federal investigators say they caught van der Sloot in a sting operation, saying he tried to secure hundreds of thousands of dollars in exchange for information that would lead authorities to the location of Natalee Holloway’s body.

But with a murder trial that could send him to prison for up to 30 years, there’s concern van der Sloot may not stand trial for extortion in Alabama.  Extraditing van der Sloot is a complicated process.

The best place for Joran is planted head first right into the ground. My Peruvian friends,
do not let me down. Not worried – he’s a dead
      man.

Coming to Alabama would only be worthy of a human being that had a soul.

This excludes anything Van der sloot.

The FBI need to find some way to get this piece of human feces to Alabama to interrigate him until he gives up the location of Natalee’s remains and who in Aruba was responsible for the cover-up. Maybe a little waterboarding side trip to Gitmo would enhance his ability to tell the truth.

    7. Peter R on July 14th, 2010 4:40 pm

I don’t think he’ll ever see an Alabama courtroom.

If he’s found not guilty of the Flores murder he’ll be back in Aruba before the extradition process gets started.

If he’s found guilty he’ll be in The Netherlands within a few years, the Dutch and Peruvians are working on a prisoner exchange program presently.

Once in The Netherlands or Aruba they will never extradite on simple extortion charges.

Best that can come from it is that his travel possibilities will be seriously reduced.

I don’t want Urine van der Slut in Alabama, ever!! Keep his sorry, cold blooded murdering punk arse in Peru!! I, for one, don’t want my hard earned tax dollars going to waste on the lower than life POS.

Think about it. Urine’s stay in an Alabama prison would be heaven compared to a Peruvian prison. The living conditions suit Urine just fine right where he is. Urine is probably begging to be extradited to Alabama just to get out of that hell hole!!

Urine’s sentence in Peru for murder and robbery will be for life anyway and he won’t live long enough to serve out a life sentence, much less be extradited.

    10. Michelle on July 14th, 2010 4:57 pm

He’ll be back in Holland or Aruba before you know it.

No way he’ll be in Alabama anytime soon.

    11. katablog.com on July 14th, 2010 5:12 pm

That’s okay, in this case I say Alabama can wait for 30 years while Joran rots in a Peruvian prison. We are just too “nice” to our prisoners with salad bars and Pizza Hut.

Yes, Prisoners do get Pizza Hut. My son worked for Pizza Hut during high school and we live in a “prison town” – 5 to be exact. And yes, he’d have to work overtime when the prisons order from Pizza Hut. Isn’t that incredible?

    12. Lisa in Maryland on July 14th, 2010 5:55 pm

Peter – “Best that can come from it is that his travel possibilities will be seriously reduced.”

I think general population at Luriganch will seriously reduce his travel possibilities on a PERMANENT BASIS! If you know what I mean!

It would be nice to find Natalee but I really think Paulus took that with him to the grave and probably didn’t tell Joran anything other than she was put into the sea. That way Joran could never turn on Paulus with anything to prove! Paulus was an evil man but he was intelligent. He made sure his son got away with murder!

Joran won’t survive 30 yrs Lurigancho. He will be luck to survive 30 days! At this point in time I don’t think he’d survive 30 minutes on the streets of Peru!

      Viva Peru!

Being brought to the US of A would seriously appeal to his ego, and be an escape of his fate in Peru. The extortion charges were the best we could hope for under the circumstances at the time. If that’s all we could lock his arse up on, that would have fit the bill.

Now that he has murdered another innocent young girl in Peru, they will wreak all the havoc that is necessary.

His haters only have to get to him once to achieve a success.

Joran will die brutally in Peru. (99.9%)

The only way out to Aruba or Holland for him at this point – is as a corpse in pine box.

Yes, it really is precisely this grim.

Since Aruba was aware of the FBI extortion sting operation involving Joran I wonder if a member of the Aruban police department tipped Joran off about the sting and that is when and why he left Aruba to go to Peru. Anita said that Joran was acting all paranoid before he left for Peru and if he knew about the sting operation that could be why he was paranoid. Especially if he also knew that Aruba was involved and aware of the sting. Could he have thought, “I can’t stay here in Aruba, is the US about to arrest me, is Aruba going to let them?” So he leaves for Peru. Also, could Stefani have seen an email about the sting and he felt he had to kill her to keep her from telling where he was so the US could arrest him in Peru? I just think it is too much of a coincidence that Stefani’s murder happened right after the extortion sting. He also told that friend who appeared on Nancy Grace that he was done with Aruba.

I’m thinking Stephany’s family isn’t saying much in public but I bet they are making sure, in a private way, that Joran stays right where he is for a very long time, and it has just got to be horrible for a fun loving, have it your own way, kind of guy to be locked up and to think of the years or days (depending on the circumstances of his environment) that he will be there…don’t think he will be running the streets again.

It’s “persona non grata (or gratae for plural)”, a Latin phrase.

Anyway, JVDS is likely the most hated man in the world today. But he doesn’t even come close to Hitler, Stalin or Saddam in what he has done. However, give him time and freedom. He will manage to equal all of these heros.

JVDS has a bright future in politics if he can ever manage to get out of Peru.

I must Applaud Peru for their handling of the situation. Although I think they have been way to Gracious in Jorans accommodations, they are making sure that he is succinctly evaluated to stand trial. They seem to be making sure they are doing everything they can so that he has no recourse of action against them.

      BREAKING NEWS
Joran van der Sloot files complaint against himself for his coerced confession.

After filing complaints against everyone else involved, it was only logical that he would eventually include himself. After all, he was not actually present. He was in another room when all of this transpired.

There was a Dutch monkey dressed up to look like Joran that confessed and then signed the confession. Joran is claiming that the monkey was lying.

Local animal rights activists are apalled that this was allowed to take place without a proper Dutch monkey translator.

Is there anything funny about Joran van der Sloot?

      Last Update: 7/17 6:57 AM

Birmingham, Al (WIAT) Is Joran van der Sloot and his world wide disrepute funny? You’d have a hard time making that case to the family and friends of Mountain Brook teen Natalee Holloway who disappeared on a graduation trip to Aruba five years ago. The prime suspect in the case…Joran van der Sloot. Natalee was last seen with van der Sloot but he has never been charged despite being questioned several times by Aruban authorities.

And neither Peruvian police or the grieving family of murdered student Stephany Flores….found dead in van der Sloot’s Lima, Peru hotel room….are likely to find any humor in van der Sloot.

Certainly van der Sloot himself….sitting in a cell in Peru’s infamous, dangerous Castro Castro prison….isn’t likely to be laughing much.

So what to make of the following headline? Dutch Blame van der Sloot For World Cup Loss

It’s from the website Cap News sitting atop a “satire” of how the Dutch are blaming their world cup loss to Spain on van der Sloot’s unavailability to play for his home nation. Here’s a sample.

ROTTERDAM (CAP) – Still smarting from their recent World Cup loss to Spain, the Royal Netherlands Football Association (Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalbond) issued a statement today pinning the blame for their finals loss squarely on the shoulders of accused double murderer Joran van der Sloot.

According to Netherlands head coach Bert van Marwijk, van der Sloot was considered a “football prodigy,” identified as early as the age of three as the future of football for that country. van Marwijk said it was Joran’s prowess on the field that prompted the team to send him and his family to Aruba to allow him the opportunity to practice year-round.

“Our hope was that he would flower into the world’s greatest striker,” van Marwijk said through a translator. “We did not for a moment, however, consider that he would instead become the world’s most infamous murderer since O.J. Simpson and Michael Jackson.”

If you like the CAP story, you should love another gem we dredged up on line…the Torture van der Sloot “game.”

Joran van der Sloot files complaint against Peruvian translator

      Associated Press
      By Amber Hawkins
      Published: July 17, 2010

Joran van der Sloot has filed a complaint against the translator who took part in the questioning that resulted in his confession.

Van der Sloot’s attorney insists the translator misrepresented himself as the official translator of the Dutch embassy.

The translator was part of the questioning in which van der Sloot confessed to killing Stephany Flores in May.

A judge already denied a request to disregard the confession.

Van der Sloot remains the key suspect in Natalee Holloway’s disappearance.

For those who were wondering where Joran got the money to buy his coffee shop, this is copied from the Thailand subject:

      J.O on July 16th, 2010 2:59 pm
Joran got the money to buy the cafe in Bangkok from a local female loan shark who threatened him when he didn’t pay back. That put the shits up him and he got the money from somewhere to pay her back. Joran was always short of cash in Thailand and on the verge of being evicted from his house for not paying rent.

He was living above his means here in Bangkok, renting a large house and trying to act like he had the cash. But he bit off more than he could chew with the loan shark and her buddies. He was genuinely scared. Lol. They should have taught him a lesson I think!

(CNN) — The attorney who represented Joran van der Sloot during his confession in the case of the killing of a Peruvian woman says that van der Sloot hired her to be his attorney, contradicting a claim he makes in a pending lawsuit.

Van der Sloot, currently in a Peruvian prison pending an appeal on a motion that his incarceration and confession were illegal, sued attorney Luz Marina Romero Chinchay earlier this month. The Dutch citizen claims that Romero was imposed on him and that she became involved because she was in a relationship with a police officer, according to his current attorney, Maximo Altez.

I’m believing Joran’s only interest in Stephany was her winnings from the casino. Could he have borrowed money from her and lured her to his room in a promise to repay her with money in his room and then tried to rob her & it got ugly & he got desperate and decided to take the money from her however he could get it. Joran doesn’t have daddy to cover his actions anymore. It would be great to find out what “really” happened to Natalie Holloway, but let Peru take care of him, they have caught him red-handed. It will be over for him soon. Confinement will kill him if not before.

    42. glad2bAmerican on July 20th, 2010 12:43 am

Could Joran’s only interest in Stephany be her winnings from the casino. Is it possible he borrowed money from her while gambling and lured her back to his room with the promise to repay her. (While his real intention was to rob her of her winnings.) Why else would she go to his room?
Finding out what “really” happened to Natalie Holloway would be desired, in Peru he is caught red-handed of murder let Peru settle his fate since daddy Sloot is no longer able to protect his slime. He will always use Natalie as leverage to protect his demise.

    43. Frederic Nitz on July 20th, 2010 6:33 am

That’s been my belief all along. Her demeanor as she was going to his room appeared to be very businesslike and certainly not romantic.

But the only person that knows the truth is Joran and he is incapable of or unwilling to tell it.

His goal in life seems to be to torture as many people as possible for as long as possible.

I wonder what happened to all the Joran defenders. Perhaps they came to the realization that he is acutally a very bad person.

    44. Frederic Nitz on July 20th, 2010 6:45 am

Re: Joran ever seeing a US courtroom
What I have read is that after he is sentenced in Peru, he would be brought to the US (if Peru permits it) and be tried for the extortion charge.

Then he would be returned to Peru to serve his sentence there. Subsequently he would be brought to the US to serve his sentence here. And if Thailand brings charges, the same scenario would be repeated.

All of this avoids the statue of limitations issues and if true, Joran will never again be a free man.

    45. glad2bAmerican on July 20th, 2010 10:55 am

Frederic, I hope that is true. It would be great to see the Holloway family face him in a court room and show him that one way or another they got him! Also it would give the FBI a chance to interrogate him on Natalee! They may not be able to charge him with out evidence but they sure can question him on commiting a crime against a US citizen!!!

Van der Sloot’s former attorney rejects lawsuit claims

      By the CNN Wire Staff
      July 20, 2010 — Updated 0157 GMT (0957 HKT)

Joran van der Sloot sued attorney Luz Marina Romero Chinchay earlier this month.

In an exclusive interview with HLN and “In Session,” Romero refutes the allegations.
Contrary to the accusations in the lawsuit, Romero said she became involved with van der Sloot after learning that he refused a state-appointed attorney and requested a private attorney.
“I asked (van der Sloot) if he wanted my services and he said yes,” Romero said. “I told him the on-duty defense attorney was present and I asked him if he wanted to give a statement through them. He said no, he wanted a private defense attorney.”
Van der Sloot wanted to talk to her about the case, she said, but felt uncomfortable with the others in the room — the prosecutor, a police officer and a translator.

After the others left, the two reached a verbal agreement that she would represent him. Romero remembers asking him about payment. He replied that his mother would pay his legal fees. Then, the others returned to the room and he gave his confession to authorities.

Now, van der Sloot alleges that he never agreed to have Romero as his attorney.
Another contradiction that Romero brought forward involves van der Sloot’s knowledge of Spanish. According to the motion to dismiss his confession as illegal, van der Sloot alleges that he didn’t understand Spanish enough to know what he was being told to sign.
Romero said their conversation was in perfect Spanish.

According to Romero, van der Sloot was calm during his statement and afterwards spoke with his mother on the phone. Her advice, Romero said, was her son not make any statements or sign anything. But it was too late.

Van der Sloot also told Romero that he was interested in talking about the case of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway in Aruba, where he is a suspect, because he thought it might get him extradited to Aruba.

Referring to his new legal strategy, Romero said, “I think every attorney does his work differently, they have their own professional ethic. I respect this professional (Altez) but his actions point to (wanting) to nullify the preliminary investigation. But like I said he had all the guarantees of the due process.”

She also questioned the truthfulness of van der Sloot. For instance, when he signed some documents after talking to his mother, Romero noticed that he signed very differently than what he signed on the police statement, she said.
“I told him, ‘you signed differently’ and he winked his eye and made a silence signal with his hands,” Romero said.
She added, “God will clarify everything and I will rest at peace that my innocence in respect to the charges that this man has against me will be made public — saying that I was working with authorities to lie to this Dutchman — which is not true.”

I found it in an AOL News article (I shortened the URL so that it’s easier to deal with:

      http://tinyurl.com/3y7lmxs

There has been some concern that a conviction in Peru could mean that van der Sloot won’t face charges in the U.S. or Thailand — in the event charges are also filed there — because of the statute of limitations. But that won’t be an issue, said Steve Cron, a veteran criminal defense attorney in Santa Monica, Calif.

“Assuming he is convicted [in Peru], these other countries are going to make arrangements to have him flown [in] to stand trial, with the understanding that he’ll be returned to Peru once the trials are over,” Cron told AOL News. “Then, once Peru is done with him, he’ll have to go serve out any other remaining sentences in the other countries.”

Interestingly, Joran has not said he didn’t kill Stephany (except for the BS story that he told the Chilean police), just that his confession was coerced.

He must be feeling pretty lonely right now. Maybe he should accept the marriage proposals, all of them in fact. But if I were one of these women, I would make sure there were several police guards present during conjugal visits.

Viva Peru! JORAN VDS is a DeAD MaN WaLkiNg

He won’t need to be extradited to the US after his 35 year prison sentence afterall. Because they will get to him before then. It is just a sad shame for the Holloway Family that they will probably never be told where poor Nat’s remains were disposed. Aruba will never do anything about finding justice either, so we must all boycott that stinking piece of crap Island until they bring the Holloway family the justice they deserve.

The only reason Anita van der Sloot does not have her fat behind in Lima, Peru is because she is terrified that she will be lynched by an angry crowd as soon as she steps off the plane. You can bet she is running the show though and this woman visitor is Anita’s representative. You can also be that she has managed to get the very best legal advice and she is passing it on to Joran via this woman visitor. What is it with ABC? They ran Anita van der Sloot’s interview with very sympathetic overtones, not toward the Holloways and Ramirez families, but toward the van der Sloots. I looked back a couple years ago online and they ran all these fun family pictures of the van der Sloots on vacation in Florida. Is ABC nuts too?

What they’re saying about van der Sloot in Peru

      Last Update: 6:16 am
      (CBS/AP)

      Birmingham, Al (WIAT)

Here in Alabama we think of Joran van der Sloot in terms of Natalee Holloway. He’s the prime suspect in the disappearance of the Mountain Brook teen on a graduation trip to Aruba five years ago.

In Peru the Holloway connection is context…the main focus of attention is the murder…five years to the day after Natalee’s disappearance…of Stephany Flores. The 21 year old student apparently met van der Sloot at a casino during a session of the Latin American Poker Tour. Security cameras later showed them entering his Lima hotel room where her murdered body was later found.

So in Peru it’s a lurid local murder case, albeit with international overtones ranging from Peru to Aruba to Alabama to the Netherlands and even Thailand.

But the questions being asked everywhere are pretty much the same. Did he do it? Is he some sort of serial killer? Is he nuts? Will an insanity defense hold up in a Peruvian court?

Van der Sloot has confessed to the murder but is trying to get that confession thrown out on a variety of grounds ranging from improper legal representation to coercion. That appeal has been rejected. So the focus in Peruvian coverage has been on defense strategy. After a court ordered examination the defense team is left arguing that their client is more mentally ill than the court appointed doctors think he is.

Here’s a sampling for Peruvian media websites:

      From Peru21

“He was lucid and oriented to time and space. He knew what was going to do and calculated everything. He was never unconscious of reality and could not claim it was because of violent emotion, “said the forensic psychiatrist Silvia Rojas.

The Lima daily El Comercio also focused on the problems the court ordered exam is causing the defense team, quoting the local television program Prensa Libre. “According to doctors consulted by “Prensa Libre”, Joran van der Sloot did not lose consciousness at the time he committed the crime. In that sense you can not claim that he fell into an extreme emotion.”

And the English language website Living in Peru strikes the same theme: The latest public declarations of his Peruvian lawyer, Máximo Altez, stress that van der Sloot is “a sick person.”

During an interview for a local TV news program, Altez emphasized that “any psychiatric assessment performed on him, either here or in any other country, will indicate that Joran is a sick person.”

Peru: Van der Sloot’s defense tries to release him

      LivinginPeru.com
      Isabel Guerra

Despite having confessed to killing Stephany Flores, Dutch national Joran van der Sloot is requesting to the Peruvian Justice the right of facing his legal process out of the prison.

His defense appealed the arrest warrant that the Peruvian justice issued to jail van der Sloot at maximum security prison Miguel Castro Castro, where he is at present.

In Peru, all lawyers make this appeal for their defendants, trying to obtain what Peruvian laws call mandato de comparecencia (defendants are set free but need to stay in Lima and attend court every week) or house arrest.

Van der Sloot’s appeal will be evaluated by the court in the next few days, although Peruvian legal experts consulted by LivinginPeru.com remark that it is likely that it will be denied.

Two foreigner lawyers may be arriving in Lima tomorrow, July 9, to join van der Sloot’s defense; one of these is Joe Tacopina, who also worked for Michael Jackson.

Van der Sloot confessed to killing Stephany Flores, but now has chosen to remain silent until his lawyers arrive to Peru.

More Poker and van der Sloot

      Last Update: 7/23 9:24 pm

Birmingham, Al (WIAT) More than one shrink has speculated that Joran van der Sloot reveled in the attention and notoriety of being the prime suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. The Mountain Brook disappeared five years ago on a graduation trip to Aruba. She was last seen in the company of van der Sloot who was questioned several times by Aruban authorities but never charged.

Van der Sloot spent much of those five years gambling…particularly playing poker. It was at a poker tournament in Lima, Peru where he met Stephany Flores….a college student found dead in van der Sloot’s hotel room…five years to the day that Natalee Holloway disappeared.

Van der Sloot’s in a cell at Peru’s Castro Castro prison charged with murder and trying to get a confession to murdering Stephany thrown out of court.

Not exactly the playboy/poker player lifestyle he saw himself playing. But poker websites are still plenty interested in him.

With reports surfacing that van der Sloot is now under investigation for possible human trafficking in Thailand, he continues to be one of the most searched for topics on the Internet and at Gambling911 according to the G911 Facebook Page.

“He (Joran) is getting the most reads these past 48 hours,” observed Gambling911.com Senior International Correspondent, Jenny Woo. “There is a sort of sick romanticism with this individual,” she observed.

Gambling911.com’s reporting on van der Sloot often top Google News with mainstream interest in him waning.

The Dutchman is known to have played on at least five different online poker websites. One of his avatars was of a woman who resembled Natalee Holloway. The handle that coincided with this avatar was AANOTILTKK, which prompted some in the poker community to suggest the name was a play on words related to “Natalee”. He was also ANGRYSHARK68 in two of the online poker rooms.

      Susan,
My comment #60 about Tacopina was a word for word cut and paste from elsewhere on this site. I neither support or condemn Tacopina and I did not embellish the wording.

But I think that “Living in Peru” is a questionable source as they are frequently wrong.

And like it or not, Tacopina is a highly respected attorney. Not by me necessarily, but certainly by his peers and by the public in general.

For the record, Tacopina represented JVDS and his father in a civil suit filed by the Holloways in NYC and it was thrown out by the NYC courts for improper jurisdiction. He has not represented JVDS or his father against any other charge.

So, where does your hate for Tacopina come from? Certainly not from fact.

Well, I agree with you that Joran is probably implicit in Natalee’s disappearance but as Joran’s father succincitly stated, “no body, no crime.” Without proof that a crime has been committed, it is impossible to convict someone on the “I really, really think he did something bad here.” charge.

While you and I agree about Joran and his guilt, he still deserves legal representation and his attorney has to defend him as best he can.

But Tacopina never represented Joran on any charge but the civil one filed in NYC. Get your facts straight. And the lack of evidence for whatever the reason does point to Joran being “not guilty”.

I don’t personally agree with that but it is the case. Hopefully he will find justice in Peru.

    76. Susan on July 25th, 2010 1:29 pm

      Frederic Nutz

It’s more like…”but as Urine van der Slut’s father DECEITFULLY stated “no body, no crime”. And we all know why Paulass made that statement. Paulass made damn sure that all evidence was DESTROYED to cover the crimes committed against Natalee.

Since Urine van der Slut took it upon himself to take Natalee’s and Stephany’s lifes away, he doesn’t deserve to see the light of day, much less legal representation!! Urine does not deserve the right to live! An eye for an eye and so on…

My facts are straight. Taco Pineapple stated many times on National TV that Urine van der Slut was innocent and had nothing to do with Natalee’s disappearance. I NEVER said Taco represented Urine for any other purpose than the civil suit. In fact, I didn’t state why Taco was representing the COLD BLOODED MURDERER at all! Are you trying to put words in my mouth???

So you think Urine is innocent, do you???

      Susan,
I understand your frustration but I also know that in most legal systems, a man is innocent until proven guilty.

Apparently your rule of law is a little different. You think Joran is guilty regarding Natalee no matter what so he does not need a trial or a jury or anything. Let’s just string him up. I assume then that you believe we should revert to vigalante justice. In my opinion, that is not a good idea.

As an alternative, let’s just try the bastard without letting him have any legal representation. Not much different. And any lawyer that defends him must be scum because you say so.

I too believe he is guilty regarding Natalee in one way or another but I also believe in the rule of law as we know it in the US.

If you could present the case for Aruba, maybe you should be the lawer for the prosecution. I’m sure you would do quite well. “But your honor, I really, really think he is guilty of something, I’m just not sure of what.”

And PVDS statement “No body, no crime” is not deceipt, it is fact.

Apparantly anyone that see things differently than you is worthy of slander. So sad.
      _________________
SM: The part you are missing is that Aruba had no intention of trying Joran Van der Sloot, so why would they bother to get evidence or facts that would try the scum.

There is no way that an honest island would have arrested the two black security guards at the word of the 3 suspects who were the last to have seen and been with Natalee. Sorry.

I have spoke personally to one of the guards after the fact to get the real story as to what transpired.

The fact is, there was no evidence because none was wanted to be found.

I do not think there has to be a trial in Aruba for people to know that JVDS was guilty of murder. He did the same thing 5 years later and the trial in Peru will act as the NH trial by proxy. Sadly, the gutlless and corrupt Aruban officials are just that.

I will say this to those that knowingly acted as they did and aided a killer. one day you will meet your Maker, I hardly think he will be amused.

Van der Sloot movie being shot while he’s arrested in Peru

      Last Update: 3:37 pm

Birmingham, Al (WIAT) Sometimes life…and death… imitate art. And sometimes art imitates life and death. Whether a film being made about Joran van der Sloot is truly art no one knows yet. But the very existence of the movie shows truth is stranger than fiction.

When Joran van der Sloot catapulted back into the news with his arrest in Peru for the murder of 21 year old student Stephany Flores, a Dutch filmmaker was shooting a movie about van der Sloot and the Natalee Holloway case in Aruba.

According to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, the film Me & Mr. Jones is being made by Dutch film maker Paul Ruven. It tells the fictional story of an undercover journalist trying to solve the Natalee Holloway case.

Holloway, a Mountain Brook High School grad disappeared on a graduation trip to Aruba. She was last seen with van der Sloot who, despite being questioned several times by Aruban authorities, has never been charged in connection to Natalee’s disappearance.

The Dutch national was indicted on wire fraud and extortion charges by a federal grand jury here in Birmingham last month. The FBI and U.S. Attorney’s office claim he took money from the Holloway family in exchange for information about Natalee’s fate, but never came through with any information. While the U.S. authorities where preparing their case after a sting-type meeting with van der Sloot, he went to South America where he is accused of killing Flores after meeting her at a poker tournament in Lima, Peru.

And while all of that was happening, Ruven was quietly shooting his movie in Aruba…apparently without publicity because of sensitivity on the island about the Holloway case and criticism of the handling of it by Aruban authorities.

The movie stars Dutch actors Robert de Hoog and Hanna Verboom and was shooting on Aruba from April through June. When the Flores murder controversy erupted in South America, it was apparently incorporated into the story line of the movie. Ruven’s website says the film will be released early in 2011.

Van der Sloot analysis: Blaming the victims?

      Last Update: 3:41 pm

Birmingham, Al (WIAT) Blaming the victim is generally considered bad form. Turning murdered Peruvian student Stephany Flores into exhibit A in an argument with feminists is unsettling at the least. But that’s the basic premise in a recent online posting on MensNewsDaily.

Joran van der Sloot is the topic of world wide comment and analysis. A Google search of van der Sloot turns up more than 33 MILLION hits in less than a second.

Many date back five years to the still unsolved disappearance of Mountain Brook’s Natalee Holloway. The eighteen year old vanished on a graduation trip to Aruba. She was last seen with van der Sloot who was questioned but never charged by Aruban authorities.

Van der Sloot stayed on the radar of but was hardly top of mind until he surfaced as the suspect in the murder of another young woman, 21 year old Stephany Flores, in Peru. She was found dead in van der Sloot’s Lima hotel room. This time there seems little room to hide beyond legal technicalities. Peruvian officials have security camera video of Flores following van der Sloot into his room. They have forensic evidence. They even have a confession in which van der Sloot reportedly says he killed Flores after she found Holloway related material on his laptop. Van der Sloot is trying to have that confession thrown out claiming coercion and improper legal representation. The judge in the case has rejected those claims.

But as he sits waiting for the Peruvian justice system to grind away, van der Sloot has become a favorite subject for long distance analysis and, for some, a metaphor for examining gender stereotypes. There are articles like Who’s writing love letters to Joran van der Sloot? and others in which he’s put through the psychological microscope with subtitles like “Psychopathic narcissism, malingering, and the angry inner child.”

Common themes of these and others is the allure of the “bad boy” and “thug” to women. But an article “Patriarchy for Dummies” on the website MensNewsDaily goes a whole lot further…blaming, if not the victims, than certainly human nature and the inherent relationship between men and women.

The article asks what do high profile murder suspects like Scott Peterson and Joran van der Sloot have in common. According to the author ” It is really simple. Men are wired to do whatever it takes to be selected by women for mating. Women are wired to select men that are dominant and aggressive, e.g. patriarchal.

Do I need to say that again?

Do you ever wonder why men like Scott Peterson show up at death row with a stack of marriage proposals waiting for them? That’s what happened, and the proposals came from women who only knew one thing about him: He savagely murdered his wife, cutting his own baby from her abdomen and dumped them both out of a boat into the bay.

How is that for marriage material?

The real question is, DO YOU COMPREHEND what you read? You sound fairly intelligent, but I could be wrong…

No, I don’t have a problem with spelling. Haven’t you noticed the way I spell Joran (Urine) and Paulus (Paulass) van der Sloot’S (Slut) names? I like to give folks “pet names”, especially those I don’t particularly care for. Lucky you…lol!

It isn’t any different with Joran van der Sloot. After skating on the Holloway murder, van der Sloot became a sexual celebrity. Everywhere he went, young women in their sexual prime threw themselves at him like he was Mick Jagger.

Something about the missing body of a young girl and his fingerprints all over the case acted like Spanish Fly on these women.

Of course, he killed again. And of course, his marriage proposals started rolling in as well.”

The article goes on to assess Stephany Flores body language as she follows van der Sloot into his hotel room. “Note the two steps behind and head bowed like a Geisha body language. It is the age old false female submission to male authority, killer authority, in order to have access and eventual control of that power. Leaving aside potential explanations ranging from she’s simply tired to speculation she had been drugged, Paul
Elam in his MensNewsDaily article attributes it to a primeval attraction and turns the Flores case into one more skirmish with feminism.

His conclusion: “Let‘s be real here, all feminism has done is give women a new place to kick back and take it easy while men ante up the blood, sweat and tears. And it leaves their supposedly lamented patriarchy safe and completely intact, ready to do their bidding in any way they want.

    87. Frederic Nitz on July 25th, 2010 9:40 pm

      SM,
I have no doubt in my mind that Aruban authorities covered up whatever it is that JVDS did to or with Natalee.

That was not my point. My point is that given the existing evidence, there is no crime. I think it is a miscarriage of justice but it is fact, nevertheless.

And given those facts, Joran is entitled to legal representation, even by the likes of Tacopina.

I think Joran is evil to the core and has probably met his match with the Peruvian legal system. So much the better but it doesn’t heal the wounds of Aruba in any sense.
      _________________
SM: Sure he is entitled legal representation; however, that does not mean that he is not guilty as sin. Acyually, with the existing evidence you probably could make the case of a crime. If Aruba wanted to. There have been many cases tried in the US w/o a body.

That being said, just because there is no trial … does not mean that people cannot believe he is guilty. He is. If Aruba had actually cared about convicting JVDS rather than the cover up and cronyism for Papa Van der Sloot, Stephany Flores would never have been murdered.

Aruba gave this scum a lisence to kill and he did it again.

He will be tried and convicted in Peru. There will be no BS this time. Joran Van der Sloot is going down like a sweet muffin.
      R

    88. Frederic Nitz on July 26th, 2010 5:45 am

      SM,
I think any case they tried to make in Aruba would be pretty weak. What’s the crime? Murder? Sold into slavery? Accidental homicide? If any of his many confessions was an official statement like the one in Peru is, it would be different.

But if Joran ever told the location of the body, then they could more easily bring charges but I doubt he ever will and I doubt he will ever give a truthful confession about what happened to Natalee. Although there is probably a little truth in everything he has said.

But he certainly won’t do it out of compassion for the Holloways. He would have to see some benefit in it for himself.

I hope that Peru takes care of this slimeball.
      _______________
SM: What’s the crime, are you joking? Have you read all of the interogation transcripts on this site? When one targets a girl, separates her from the group, most likely provides a date rape drug and you are the last one ever seen with her, lie about dropping her off, implicate others in a crime, lie about what happened, the confess on multiple occacions when a hidden camera is recording you … you ask what is the crime?

With the legal process that was available in Aruba, watch the video linked to above … there is no way that this clown would not have been broken, but for a conspiracy cover up.

All we need to witness is what is going on in Peru. Van der Sloot comitted the same crime and look how he is reacting without daddy’s help.

If he ever is brought to the US to face the extortion charge, the truth will come out as to what he did.
      R

    89. Frederic Nitz on July 26th, 2010 8:15 am

      SM,
I am not asking what the crime is, I am asking what he could be charged with that would stick.

I have no doubt that Joran is guilty of grave things regarding Natalee. But my believing it is so does not make a very good court case.

So what would the charge be? None of his “confessions” are admissable in court as they were not made with his attorney present (and Joran knows this). He is trying to use that to retract his confession in Peru.

I am not excusing Aruba, because they obviously were involved in a huge coverup, but this case would be thrown out of any US court.

While most court cases are based on circumstantial evidence, this one would have way too many other possible explanations that would get him off. Tacopina would have a field day with it which is why he makes the statements that he does. It’s difficult to get 12 people to agree on the time of day, much less the guilt or innocence of an accused criminal.

Fortunately in Peru it is just the opposite.

I do believe he will be brought to the US for extortion charges before he serves his sentence in Peru. I think that is the general protocol.

By the way, you and I are on the same side.

You are the first here on SM that has ever asked me to stop posting the latest news on the Natalee Holloway case. You don’t own SM, therefore, you don’t have the right to ask anyone to stop posting anything here. If you don’t like it, I suggest you don’t read what I post. A lot of people don’t have the time to sit down and try to find the latest. Obviously, you do…

Do you believe everything you say??? You certainly do like to contradict yourself over and over and over again. You are the typical Aruban/van der Slut sympathizer!! Off with your head…lmao!!

OK, then I will ask you politely (without calling you names) to stay on topic. The topic is:

    95. Lisa in Maryland on July 26th, 2010 7:56 pm

I think making a movie about Joran is sick and totally premature at this point. We haven’t gotten to the end yet!

Unless they end it with him getting bent at Castro, Castro but I would much rather see the last scene as him playing poker in Lurigancho and one of the other inmates walks behind him and slits his throat and the blood spills over the cards and his hand shows nothing! As in a bluff!
Then the entire prison burns in fire like hell!

      Good ending don’t you think???

#92 – vhj. I think obstruction of justice is a misdemeanor, at least in California. A slap on the wrist, summary probation, $100. Go home son.

      # 94 – Stay on TOPIC? You certainly missed the boat, dude. I know what the topic is. It is anything related to the Natalee Ann Holloway case.

Nutz, you definietly need to lighten up a little and learn to be more flexible. You are just a wee bit too RIGID, don’t ya think?

In your previous comment, #30 above, if you really want to get freaking PETTY about it, your comment was not about the original news article, it was about…”Joran van der Sloot files complaint against himself for his coerced confession.”, a totally different news article, but you rephrased the wording to your own liking!! A double standard on your part, you can post “off topic” (your warped interpretation), but I can’t??? WTF!!

#96 – I could care less who you are!! Go Google yourself ;-)

      #97 – If I must, “lmao” means (l) laughing (m) my (a) ass (o) off, duh. I’d assume most already know…

      Susan,
You seem to be quick to run people down.

You and I support the same goal and I have no idea why you are attacking me.

It seems it all started with my posting something that I copied word for word from another chat on this site that didn’t agree with your opinion that Tacopina was in Peru.

    101. Susan on July 28th, 2010 5:42 am

Actually, it all started with your comment below in reference to the van der Straten story.

“Aruba Investigates Aruba … AG Says No Evidence Found that Alleged Relationship Between Chief Jan van der Straten & Van der Sloot Family Played a Negative role in the Investigation into the Disappearance of Natalee Holloway

      # 53. Frederic Nitz on July 23rd, 2010 5:39 am

      Can we stay on topic?”

Your comments above on this story, # 96 & 97, are way off topic…

Last night I tried to log in but SM was down for Technical Updates – Maybe, they gave the Spam monster and enima!

The story of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance in Aruba has once again found its way into film. Dutch director Paul Ruven’s new movie, “Me & Mr. Jones” is a fictional account of a journalist who investigates the Holloway case.

Don’t you think the Dutch director could have come up with a better title for his fictional account ?? “Like a Quest for Answers” or “Jonesing for the Truth” or “My Big Fat Aruban Murder Mistery”

I’m sure my monkey friends could have a barrel of laughs over new and inventive titles while we await any real news!

As far as topics are concerned I think we should all just have a free for all until something substantial emerges!

Van Der Sloot Special Airs Tonight…

Birmingham, AL (WIAT)- If you happened to be watching The Soup on E! television, you would have seen a promo for an E! News Special that airs tonight at 9:00pm CST that is focused on Joran van der Sloot. Unfortunately, the only information we could locate on the show is the TV Guide description:

“A profile of murder suspect Joran van der Sloot includes an interview with his mother, Anita van der Sloot”

Yep that B–ch is makin money alright – probably selling her son down the river or are we going to be seeing another sniveling episode of Anita knows best.

Some people just shouldn’t be allowed to procreate!

PS – The best part of him slid down her leg!

    114. cvc on August 5th, 2010 5:47 pm

Did everyone see Anita’s show last night on E!…I especially love the part of the interview where she says that her husband died and she didnt even have a chance to mourn before all this in Peru started up. Gee, Stefany should have been more considerate than that, I mean to up and die while Anita is trying to mourn is the worst. Also, the Holloway family has caused Anita so much pain, they should really be more considerate too. The next time that ABC interview with Anita airs I intend to count the number of times Anita says “I”. It is definitely all about her!

    115. Lisa in Maryland on August 7th, 2010 12:47 am

It was suppose to be a profile on Joran but it was all just same news we’ve heard over and over again. Nothing new. And yes, over half of the program was Anita Van der slut having a pitty party. She plays well for the camera as usual! It’s definitely all about her and I wonder how much she got for that one even though it was a colouage (spelling) of old clips.

    116. Miss-Underestimated on August 7th, 2010 7:53 pm

Anita, always the victim, I see where Joran get it’s. Two women dead by the hands of your son and it’s all about you.
