Some Thoughts From a SM Reader … Iran: What if the people were armed?? Shouldn’t All People have Simple Freedoms?
The following is a guest post by a Scared Monkeys reader who was been moved and inspired by the people of Iran and their desire and quest for freedom. Simple freedoms that many of us in the United States sometimes take for granted. Imagine if the Iranian people had freedom of speech, the right to bear arms and assemble. The Iranian people just want their vote to count. That should be something that all Americans should respect, understand and support. How many times have we hear politician espouse and exaggerate the fact that voters were disenfranchised?
We have witnessed over the weekend the atrocities brought on those that would dare question their government over what is obvious to any thinking person a corrupt election. Why shouldn’t Iranians have freedoms similar to what you and I experience every day. Now imagine if your freedoms granted by the US Constitution were taken away.
Iran: What if the people were armed?
We hear from the anti-gun lobby now and again that America is the most violent society in the western modern world, and that the reason we are so violent is because of our liberal gun laws. One can’t argue with statistics and we do have more deaths at the hand of guns than our counterparts (ie: Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Israel). But that doesn’t tell the whole story.
When the great framers of our Constitution were debating this very issue in tap rooms and taverns from New York to Philadelphia, there were those that spoke out for strict laws about ‘the people’ (meaning the common folk, We the People) being allowed to own weapons. The arguments against guaranteeing this right ranged from the idea that the ‘common man’ could not be trusted with such weapons of destruction to the notion that if we have a just and free society, there would be no need for anyone to own arms except for our free society’s army. Proponents of this right to own guns argued that there was not going to be a ‘standing’ militia so that in order to be ready to fight those who would try to conquer us, the citizens of this country must be armed. Debate was vigorous.
Wise minds prevailed and inserted the Second Amendment into our Bill of Rights of the Constitution.

Barack “The One” Obama … 46 Million in America Live Without Haircare … Scrappleface
This is why we love Scrapple Face, they report, we decipher … Because not everyone can have haircare like John Edwards.
Obama: 46 Million in America Live Without Haircare
While the United States leads the world in research and scientific advancements offering unparalleled options to consumers, President Barack Obama said today “the fact remains that 46 million people in America live without proper haircare.”
“In the most technologically-advanced and financially-prosperous nation on earth,” the president said, “we ought to be ashamed that millions go to bed each night in fear, with no way to pay for regular preventative grooming, some so desperate that they turn to primitive home remedies.”

Barack Obama … Let the Iranians Eat Ice Cream … Where is the Support for Democracy & Human Rights from the White House?
What is wrong with this President … Let them eat cake or is it ice cream!
This truly is an “Obamination”!!!
Barack Obama finally spoke out against the actions on Saturday by the Iranian regime when the brutality of what was taking place was on display for all to see and asked them to stop the “unjust actions.” It was far too little and far too late. Then … he went and got some vanilla ice cream in a “waffle” cone.

CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW THE PRESS WOULD HAVE REACTED IN GWB DID SOMETHING LIKE THIS?
How in the tank is the mainstream media when we have people dying (graphic pic) for their right to be free in a country like Iran than has been such a thorn in the side of America and the spread of democracy in the Middle East and the media thinks that covering Obama and his daughters having ice cream is news? WTF!!!
Who is out of touch? How does President Barack “Hussein” Obama waltz around as it nothing is going on in the world and enjoy an ice cream?
Nice image to present to the world Mr. President. I am sure the Iranian opposition protestors can take great solace in your support of enjoying an ice cream cone.

Oh but wait, this is the Obamamessiah we are referring to … let the man finish his ice cream. How does anyone compare and contrast these two stories with this out of touch President?

CHAOS in Streets of Tehran … Iranians Protest the Ahmadinejad Election Results and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei
The Iranian people have had enough … and take to the streets risking injury and death. These people deserve our prayers and support.
The Iranian people have taken to the streets to protest and unjust election, and unjust dictator and an unjust supreme leader. Following the corrupt elections last week that saw Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad win in a questionable landslide, the Iranian people have had enough. As protesters march, the Iranian police use tear gas, clubs and water cannon as they tried to disperse the demonstrators.
The unrest left 19 people dead, hospital sources said. Unconfirmed reports put the death toll as high as 150 on the seventh day of post-election demonstrations.

Iran’s Mousavi says ready for “martyrdom”
Mousavi said on Saturday he did not seek confrontation with the Islamic establishment, but was quoted by a witness as calling for a national strike if he is arrested.
“We are not against the Islamic system and its laws but against lies and deviations and just want to reform it,” he said on his website.
Finally after sitting on the sidelines and being non-committal, President Barack Obama makes a comment regarding the violence and protest in Iran, Obama calls on Iran to ‘stop all violent and unjust actions:
The Iranian government must understand that the world is watching. We mourn each and every innocent life that is lost. We call on the Iranian government to stop all violent and unjust actions against its own people. The universal rights to assembly and free speech must be respected, and the United States stands with all who seek to exercise those rights.
As I said in Cairo, suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away. The Iranian people will ultimately judge the actions of their own government. If the Iranian government seeks the respect of the international community, it must respect the dignity of its own people and govern through consent, not coercion.
Martin Luther King once said – “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” I believe that. The international community believes that. And right now, we are bearing witness to the Iranian peoples’ belief in that truth, and we will continue to bear witness.
Go to Hot Air for some tremendous coverage of the events taking place in Iran.
UPDATE I: From the Gateway Pundit … Oh dear God please pray for the People of Iran who want nothing more than to live in a society where a vote actually counts.
Dear God– They’re shooting the unarmed democracy protesters on the street!
A woman is shot dead in Iran today.
(Warning: Very Graphic)

Brilliant! Don’t Call Me Ma’am … Senator Barbara Boxer Meets Dr. Evil
This is a classic … From Michelle Malkin
Could you call me Senator? I’ve worked so hard to get this title.
Hey Babs, Dr. Evil wanted some respect too. It would appear that you two clowns are like peas in a pod. Let’s hope that this video shows up during Boxer’s Senate election campaign.
Here is the actual video of a childish Senator actually thinking that they have earned some type of respect as opposed to a military general.
