Obama & Wanda Sykes at the White House Correspondents Dinner … “Most of you covered me. All of you voted for me.” … “Rush Limbaugh, I Hope His Kidneys Fail”

As we always say … comedy is supposed to be funny, not mean. Last nights White House Correspondence Dinner except for a couple of jokes was lame.

Here is another piece of advice for President Obama, humor has to have a bit of truth in it. There is a reason why you here more laughter, even from the media suck ups present, when Obama made jokes referencing that he was named Auto Industries Executive of the Year and that in his next 100 days Obama will learn to go off the prompter, while Joe Biden will learn to stay on the teleprompter.

What a shock though, a love affair between President Barack Obama and the main stream media at last nights White House Correspondence dinner. Can someone tell me why we even had this event with Barack Obama? I could not tell the difference between the White House Correspondence Dinner and a Presidential News Conference with Obama. In both cases the media gushes over every word he says and laughs at his lame jokes. As compared to so many Correspondence Dinners before, the tone and tenor of this event was actually mean. You can hear the nervous laughter from the media present. One must remember this is Obama’s greatest audience.

“Most of you covered me. All of you voted for me.”

WOW, so many of his jokes fell so flat. (Part 1)

As the Gateway Pundit stated, Obama should have stuck to reading his teleprompter when it came to his jokes. Obama even had the audacity to make a joke about the “Scare Force One” incident proving that he still does not get what they did was so wrong. Obama joked that his children were not present because they were grounded. Obama said, “You can’t just take Air Force One on a joyride to Manhattan, I don’t care who’s kids you are.” Unreal that he would continue to make a joke about a colossal screw up that reminded so many NY’ers of September 11.

Obama’s Part 2 of White House Correspondence Dinner

Compare Obama’s comedic routine from last night to that from the White House Correspondence Dinner with George W. Bush from 2008. Folks, the media loves Obama and they could not stand GWB. Explain why there is more laughter with GWB’s jokes, let alone the demeanor of the event was so drastically different.

Does anyone think that wishing someone kidney failure is funny? How anyone thought this was appropriate for this event is beyond me. However this is the same Administration that thought flying a 747 at low altitude over Manhattan, NY followed by an air force fighter plane was a good idea. As Hot Air stated, “Class made an exit with the Bush Administration.”

Then there was MC Wanda Sykes, who speculated that Rush Limbaugh was actually the 20th hijacker on 9/11 but missed his flight because he was high on oxycontin and she derided Sean Hannity for not living up to his pledge to be waterboarded for the troops. Of course this was after she wished that Limbaugh’s kidneys would fail.

Obama Likes Wanda Sykes Joke About Rush Limbaugh — ‘I Hope His Kidneys Fail’

Sadly, those in the media and the LEFT just don’t get it. Being a shrill mean bastard all the time is unbecoming. Mean is not funny no matter if the LEFT wants to call it “edgy”. Sorry, I must have missed it in my “humor” in the media courses in college. However, would the media or the LEFT be calling what Wanda Sykes did edgy if her mean humor was directed at The Chosen One, Barack Obama himself? Better yet, does the LEFT think it would be edgy if Sykes made a joke about Michelle Obama being proud for the first time that Sykes was the MC of the event? Doubt it.

USA Today asks the question, “were Obama and Sykes funny? It probably depends on your political affiliation; judge for yourself”. Not true at all. It does not depend on political affiliation, it depends on personal honesty and if one has a sense of humor in the first place. If one cannot laugh at them self, who can they laugh at. However, it has become obvious that because the MSM has been told that Obama can’t be made fun of, they don’t.

UPDATE I: Looky, looky … seems that  Deadline Hollywood agrees with our analysis of last nights White House Correspodence Dinner … SHE SAID WHAT?! Wanda Sykes Gives Extremely Partisan Performance.

Someone should have reminded Wanda Sykes about that before tonight. Because not since Don Imus roughed up Bill Clinton at the annual event has a comedian been so mean-spirited. But, unlike Imus, Wanda Sykes didn’t lay a glove on the sitting president Barack Obama. Instead, she reserved her barbs for George W. Bush, John McCain, Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

But even watching the WHCA dinner on television, viewers saw the room grew very quiet and then erupt as Sykes seemed to cross the line with what was more harsh partisanship than funny comedy.

Even Obama seemed to look uncomfortable at times. Of course, the WHCA had to know what they were getting since Sykes has gone on late night television being just as outspoken.

As Politics Daily stated, “Can’t they find somebody who’s funny without crossing the line?”

This really wasn’t funny because Obama takes himself way too serious. I think he may actually believe his press clippings that he is the Chosen One.

Compared to GWB’s ones in the past … this was actually painful to watch.

The tone was bizarre which cause a lot of nervous laughter from those who love Obama.

“Here is another piece of advice for President Obama, humor has to have a bit of truth in it.”

here we go again with the lecturing about what humor is….
the RIGHT doesn’t know how to react to humor most of the time.

      just grow up you crybabies.

i thought it was very funny.

prepare for a lot more jokes that are going to make you weep. whine whine… hahaha
      ______________
SM: Who’s crying … you really are clueless. You are a perfect example of Leftist lack of sense of humor.

Mean is not funny. It does not take a brain surgeon to watch the two videos and hear the difference in tone and the laughter. Its the same audience at both.

This is outrageous! My blood pressure is going through the roof! Every person in that cesspool of a room should be ashamed of themselves. Then again look at the audience… a picture perfect example of the self absorbed do as I say and not as I do cult known as Hollywood. Pathetic! I’m glad Obama thinks flying Air Force One through a city full of folks suffering from PTSD is funny. He’s a complete disgrace… a joke… to the Presidential office. Hey Barry… where the hell is your birth certificate?

This man is so taken with himself it’s mind blowing!

And Wanda Sykes… UN-FREAKIN’-BELIEVABLE!!!!!!!! What sewage drain to she crawl out of?

Obama and his disciples have ZERO class!!

    4. rightknight on May 10th, 2009 4:46 pm

Intended humor floated as high as a lead
      balloon. Heavy hearted phlegmatic stuff
spewed out from our leader and his comic(s).
High point was observation about chatty Joe
and his non-stop blather, that had the modicum
of truth within and therefore worthy humor.
The King wears no clothes and the domesticated
press obediently kept mum! What have we wrought
with our precious votes so far?

Do we get a do-over, huh, PLEEEZE?

there are no lessons for what’s humor and what’s not. :)
it’s all up one’s own taste.

R probably found that Bush joke at his dinner about WMD: “no weapons over here” hilarious.

well, i didn’t find that funny while hundreds of thousands of iraqi’s and thousands of coalition soldiers were dying.

jokes about Limbaugh can’t be harsh enough.
remember how this moronic low-life was imitating Michael J. Fox??
this Limbaugh is the lowest piece of work around.
says a lot that the extreme wingnut right of the GOP sees him as their savoir.

funniest is that those thinly skinned wingnuts go totally bat sh*t crazy when someone makes fun of them.
can’t wait for the truck loads of fake outrage.
the Republican party is exploding from within, just as i expected.
it’s great to watch and see them self-destruct.

of course they will recover after a while, but the party will then look very different from what it looks now.
still hoping the some kind of New Conservative party will emerge.
just as in most countries, you have parties for extreme ideologies.
now the Republican party is infected with wingnuts, sooner or later they will be thrown out or forced to moderate.
      _____________
SM: No, actually I did not find that all that funny fool.

Do you at all in your hate-filled dim whitted mind that this was a WH event? This was not a radio talk show, this was President Obama making and basically approving these jokes.

Even the LEFT and Hollywood types found the tome of the event distasteful. That is them saying it. Sorry, but it was not humorous and the silence and lack of laughter was the telling fact.

More people gasped and that was more nerous laughter than actual laughter at the jokes both by Obama and the MC.

Sorry, this was not funny. If you think hate is funny, you are a sick individual. I can dislike Obama and disagree with everything he does as he think there has never been a President more dangerous for and to the USA, that does not mean I would make a joke wishing him ill or harm.

To bad the Comic & Chief didn’t have the same kinda class.

Here’s the problem Red: these stupid liberals don’t understand self deprecating humor of GWB making fun of himself versus wishing someone would die. It was racist, sick humor but like Hillary, the liberals are going to “stand by their man” no matter who he f*cks over!

    8. Not a liberal but definitely not one of you on May 10th, 2009 6:49 pm

Lighten up everyone. This is an annual no-holds barred traditional dinner; and nothing- believe me- nothing has changed in past 40 years at these functions: the jokes have always been colorful, controversial, somewhat tasteless and mostly very funny. I am sure that the webmaster himself must know he is speaking to empty air (except for the already converted ditto-heads who are commenting and whining).
Get over it folks- we lost. And we will be back- but not with attitudes like I am reading above. Maybe you all should really consider seceding and let the rest of us “moderate” conservatives take the party and this country in a more positive direction.
      ___________
SM: Sorry, but you are wrong. Moderate conservatives? What the hell is that … some one who is fiscally responsible part of the time? Some one who sometimes believes in right to life? Maybe someone who sometimes believes that the Constitution should be followed.

You really are going to have to tell me what a moderate conservative is.

R U joking. Either you are a conservative or you are not.

As for all of these events have been like this, that BS!!!

Go back and watch them. Hell you can see GWB’s last one in this post.

There is a real big difference between making fun of yourself and going after someone else. Of course this is coming from the President who promised change in Washington.

This post has nothing to do with sour grapes over an elections, that analysis is just ridiculous nonsense. Trust me, people are already out there trying to undo the foolishness of what many did by voting for this clown.

This has nothing to do with conservative, liberal, democrat or republican point of view. Any common sense thinking person can watch the video and see the reaction of the audience and know the tone of this was way off and uncalled for.

Normally this is supposed to be a celebrity roast of the President, not the people who oppose him. However, the edict is out … you cannot make fun of Barry O, he is off limits. Because if you do, you might be a right wing terrorist, ex-military.

wow, I guess some people can’t take a joke. And to say it was one-sided. For pete’s sake, she referred to Obama as mulatto.

Rush, Hannity and other entertainers who engage in the vicious, hate-spewing rhetoric that they do, can’t really be offended when the hard-hitting stuff comes back at them. I seem to recall some pretty un-repeatable names that Rush has had for female politicians for instance.

If Bush can joke about not finding nukes in the country he tricked us into invading, the country where we tortured people, killed hundreds of thousands and put our troops in harm’s way and spent billions of dollars, then i think a few tough jokes at the expense of his team’s ego is perfectly acceptable.

If Rush and Hannity can spout every day about how it’s nothing to torture people, they ought to be able to take a joke. Sheesh.

The right wing can prattle and spew their partisan venom 24-7 on Fox and talk radio without concern for the feelings of their targets. But when THEY are on the receiving end they get all sensitive and aggrieved.

Rush Limbaugh never said he wanted this country to fail. What he said was that he hopes Obama fails as in socialism but of course the left want to twist it and make it hateful to fit their agenda. Wanda Sykes is not funny and wishing someones kidneys to fail is like wishing someone to die because you cannot live without your kidneys. I really don’t care that she made those comments about Rush or Hannity, what I care about is the President yucking it up with the celebrities when so many people in this country are suffering. I don’t see a damn thing funny about where our country is and where it is headed. Why do we even give credence to those celebrities anyway? Without their scripts, they are nothing anyway.

As to #20 post. I’m a Republican and most of my friends are Republicans and none of us are RICH so I don’t know where you get your info. Take a look at 90% of your celebrities (Rich & Democrats) Wonder how many of them don’t pay taxes. The democrabs are the money hungry tax evading whores of this country and they will bring us all down with them at this rate. SPEND SPEND SPEND and yes I know that Bush was guilty of it too and I didn’t agree with it when he did it either.

Bush didn’t trick anybody about going to war in Iraq. Mr. Flip Flop Colin Powell had the same intelligence as Bush did and he stood claimed that Saddam Hussein had WMD, so it’s not all on Bush. Speaking of Iraq: If it was such a horrible war and it was all about oil and never should have happened, why are we still there? Why hasn’t Barry boy removed the troops? I thought he was against war, but yet he hasn’t done anything to bring our men & women home. Oh, that’s right, he can do whatever he likes.

    31. Left Out on May 11th, 2009 11:18 am

First, Wanda Sykes is too low on the comedic totem pole to even be speaking at a White House event. I’m surprised Obama, the darling of Hollywood and the elite, couldn’t get some better talent.

I’m not the biggest Rush fan in the world. I find him pretty obnoxious to be honest. More importantly, it’s not that we don’t get that it was an attempt (albeit ill-fated) at humor, it’s that if a conservative made an attack on Obama or someone in his administration that was equally as mean-spirited and wrong, the media would crucify him or her. Accusations of racisms would probably be thrown around.

What’s even better is that something like this JUST happened and people are tending to overlook it. David Feherty, a CBS Sports Analyst, made a joke about Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid in a column in a Dallas magazine (not at the WHITE HOUSE mind you) and has been forced to issue an apology. I love the double standard that liberals have created and the media, for the most part, has chosen to uphold. At the end of the day, liberals are mean and hateful when you don’t agree with them in a way that would make even Rush Limbaugh blush. Watch Bill Maher and you’ll get what I mean.

ACORN’s Levenson, Wanda S., and many other ‘Progressives’
flashing the race card at every opportunity. These folks are
not Conservatives. Bait, bait, bait. Flashing that card at every
turn attempts to take the focus off the greed and criminal
spending done by Obowma and the Swinging Socialists Band!

Pass the Pate de Deficit plate, thanks.

I think some have let party lines define their sense of humor.

“Here is another piece of advice for President Obama, humor has to have a bit of truth in it.”

Yeah, like when W made that joke about not being able to find any WMDs about a was that has cost tens of thousands of lives?

Now THAT was comedy gold right there.

    37. HOPE on May 11th, 2009 5:43 pm

      ‘Hates’ a pretty strong word!

I am a liberal, I guess, although I’ve not been tested… And I despise Rush Limbaugh! All he does is criticize the President. It’s through the power of speech, that he causes division and hatred. IMO, because of him, there’s hate going in both directions…

He’s probably, just sitting back, admiring his work…

      and raking in the CA$H…

      at our expense!

      {Is that supposed to be funny?}

    38. HOPE on May 11th, 2009 5:46 pm

Real comedy would be him wetting his pants!

      :)

Pissing all over himself, instead of US!

yo yo said:”I think some have let party lines define their sense of humor.”

Interesting. Robert Gibbs, White House Press guy didn’t think Sykes was funny either. Sorry Yo Yo, but please show me where conservatives (as a group, not one or two isolated) have laughed at the proposed death of someone. Now you will find the liberals doing this against Cheney and Bush, but I simply can’t recall a time when conservatives have ever done this.

You will also recall that when very mean-spirited things have been said about just about anyone, I’ve been one of the first to object. People, living, breathing human beings should not be the subject matter; issues should be. And the issue in this case is that taking Air Force One for a joy ride while scaring thousands of people is not funny. Wishing anyone ill health or death is not funny. Calling people despicable names or comparing them to despicable people in history is not funny. It’s character assassination and as bad as bathroom humor. It has no place in a classy event where the President of the United States (elected to represent ALL Americans, including Rush Limbaugh) is present.

@#37 “And I despise Rush Limbaugh! All he does is criticize the President. It’s through the power of speech, that he causes division and hatred. IMO, because of him, there’s hate going in both directions…”

and you despise George Bush and all you do is criticize everything he ever did. And if you don’t think that blacks as well is whites are causing racial division then you need to have your eyes & ears checked. That’s all we have heard over the past year is that if you don’t vote for Obama you are a racist, if you disagree with Obama you are a racist. Calling people a racist based on who they voted for or didn’t vote for when we know that BLACKS that haven’t voted their entire lives got out and voted in the past election, do you think they voted Republican? Not even. Do you suppose they voted because he was black? absolutely, I’ve seen the evidence. Why are you so worried about Rush Limbaugh when you should be worried about Congress sitting back raking in all the cash at our expense.

    42. Rick on May 11th, 2009 9:44 pm

What a hoot! If Wanda thinks it would be great if Rush had kidney failure, (a death sentence) I think it would just as funny if she got sickle cell. LOL! As usual she (liberal dumb ass) missed what Rush said, ” I hope his polices fail” By the way, how’s all this “change” working out for you guys. You think saying what ever you please is OK, but people don’t agree with you are shut down before the words leave their mouth since you’ve got the “drive by” in your back pocket. Obama has surrounded himself with a bunch of like minded thugs and power hungry, tax dodging, holier than thou, jerks. If I’m wrong I’ll eat my words. But if I’m right, God help our country. We’re done!

    43. katablog.com on May 11th, 2009 10:16 pm

Did criticizing GWB cause division and hatred or is this a one way street?

    44. Joe on May 11th, 2009 10:49 pm

God you guys are funny! I almost wet my pants reading these comments especially since they are from a group of people who supported Sarah Palin and voted for Bush twice! LOL! You conservatives are a constant punchline. And you wonder why you are the butt of jokes and the libs arent?

If Rush caused hate and division in this country then why is he one of THE most popular radio hosts in the country? Why are his ratings always high? Let me guess…you are going to use the carpet munching Garofolo line, right? They are all racists and haters…LOL!

Liberals aren’t butt of jokes? Whew…David Feherty threw some jokes at them, only to be made to apologize. Pelosi has been the butt of jokes on the late night circuit this week.

What causes division and hate are those who spewed un-necessary venom at George Bush. RUSH speaks the truth and if he wasn’t a threat then why are Dems and liberals TRYING but not succeeding at tarnishing this man? The sole reason people like Rush, Palin, and tea party attendees are attacked constantly in the press and by the liberals is because they are threats to their Alice in Wonderland fantasy!

Nobody has attacked Obama in the press or even in Congress they way those Dems and liberals did to Bush.
