Were State Computers Illegally Used to find information on Joe the Plumber – Where is the Media Outrage?

Win at all cost no matter who it destroys, even it means destroying “We the Peoples” rights.

There can be nothing more heinous than a government using its power illegally to gain Joe the Plumberprivate information on its citizens in an effort to destroy them or take away their freedom of speech. “We the People” should be outraged at what has happened to Joe the Plumber. Next time … it could be you. Would other reason other than political motivation could there be to go after Joe the Plumbers personal records? The answer is none.

Exactly how did people get information so quickly on Joe the Plumber to tear him down?  Were government computers illegally used to dig up information on “Joe the Plumber”? It did not take very long for a private citizens private records be violated by those that would look to aid the Obama campaign. Why were Joe the Plumber’s personal records violated? Obviously it was an attempt to dig up negative information on a private citizen to use against him to discredit him. WHERE IS THE MSM OUTRAGE? Imagine if Joe the Plumber was was Anita the Anti-war activist and Republicans had illegally searched her records for dirt. I think we can all state affirmatively that the LEFT would be decrying Fascism.

State and local officials are investigating if state and law-enforcement computer systems were illegally accessed when they were tapped for personal information about “Joe the Plumber.”

Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher became part of the national political lexicon Oct. 15 when Republican presidential candidate John McCain mentioned him frequently during his final debate with Democrat Barack Obama.

The 34-year-old from the Toledo suburb of Holland is held out by McCain as an example of an American who would be harmed by Obama’s tax proposals.

Public records requested by The Dispatch disclose that information on Wurzelbacher’s driver’s license or his sport-utility vehicle was pulled from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles database three times shortly after the debate.

Information on Wurzelbacher was accessed by accounts assigned to the office of Ohio Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers, the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency and the Toledo Police Department.

It has not been determined who checked on Wurzelbacher, or why. Direct access to driver’s license and vehicle registration information from BMV computers is restricted to legitimate law enforcement and government business.

It started with a simple question from an average Joe, an American citizen asking a simple question to a Presidential candidate on the campaign trail. Supposedly that is our Constitutional right to question what positions that our leaders will take if they are elected. It is also the responsibility of the media as well, however, when they are in the tank as they are for Barack Obama, questioning politicians is left up to “We The People”. As Wake Up America states, “It is a real pity that an everyday “Joe” cannot ask a presidential candidate that came to his own driveway, a question about policy without having his life turned into national fodder …”

Joe the Plumber’s simple question to Obama has since created the firestorm of Obama’s socialist “share the wealth” statement. Since that point it has been open season on Joe the Plumber.

Stop the ACLU wonders why the media is more concerned with a Sarah Palin clothes story as opposed to government computers being used to find information on a common citizen.

Try this. A government that refuses to answer questions. And this is before they’re even elected. The bottom paragraph is most telling:

      http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/25/obama-campaign-cuts-interviews-florida-tv-station/

Barack Obama’s campaign killed all interviews with a Florida TV station after Sen. Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, faced tough and critical questions from a reporter at the Orlando station.

During a satellite video Thursday, WFTV’s Barbara West quoted Karl Marx and asked Biden how Obama’s comment to “Joe the Plumber” about spreading the wealth wasn’t being Marxist.

      “Are you joking?,” Biden asked.

      West replied, “No.”

Later in the interview West questioned Biden about his comments that if Obama wins the election next month, he would be tested early on as president and wanted to know if Biden was implying America was no longer the world’s leading power.

“I don’t know who’s writing your questions,” Biden asked her.

The Obama camp then killed a WFTV interview with Biden’s wife Jill, according to an Orlando Sentinel blog.

“This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election,” wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign, according to the Sentinel.

My guess is that the questions in your headline are rhetorical, but:
Were Ohio state government computers used illegally?
      As of yesterday, ( http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2008/10/24/joe.html ) that wasn’t clear.

      Where’s the Media outrage?
Very good question. (A blatant plug: I posted my observations and opinions in another blog: http://withoutlosingmymind.blogspot.com/2008/10/joe-plumber-asked-wrong-question.html .)

Short version: it’s ‘way too easy to see either bias or mental blinders as an explanation for the lack of excitement over a:

      * Democratic attorney general’s office
      * Investigating unauthorized snooping
      – using one of her office’s accounts
      * Of a Republican who asked an embarrassing question
      * And having a spokeswoman say, very early in the investigation, that the snooping didn’t happen in the attorney general’s office

I’m not assuming bias, necessarily: since so many people in media seem to “know” that Democrats are honest, upright, concerned, compassionate; while Republicans drive SUVs.

Interestingly, Joe the Plumber drives an SUV.

It is just as I wrote in so very many of these threads.

Let Sen McCain speak intelligently(be himself) of the economy, forget the mudslinging and general waving frantically in the shallow waters, and he will survive.

The latest Zogby poll shows him down 5 points, up from being down 12 points just this past Thursday!

Maybe he is listening to people who actually want him to win instead of those damaging him by telling him to attack the person and not the platform. Whoever said if we talk about the economy we will lose should be fired ASAP.

More serious discussion of platform differences will only increase the public’s knowledge. He shouldn’t care if people do not know Sen Obama. He SHOULD CARE that people know him AND his platform.

Intelligence trumps mudslinging here, as I have always said.

He is starting to make real sense.

The entertainment culture has gotten its hooks into the American public … and the idiots who debase our culture to meet the standard of the lowest common denominator are laughing all the way to the bank.

We’re going to pay for it, in every way. Then again, we already have … I think that we the American people are not much different than ever, but our culture is riddled through with garbage.

And this is the legacy for our young people.

    14. Richard on October 26th, 2008 8:52 am

For that matter, the whole exaltation of the ‘Joe the Plumber’ thing into a national icon is itself idiotic. Not his asking questions, not at all … but the way the media are playing off it.

But that’s okay … if they didn’t do that, they might have to do some serious reporting on the issues. And that would be boring, considering that entertainment is now our national goal.

    15. katablog.com on October 26th, 2008 9:07 am

Kay Zee Ess: what’s “fascinating” about the Zogby polls is that for weeks they showed the candidates 5% apart and then suddenly last week it went into double digits and now it’s back to 5% (remember 5% is totally in the margin of error). Why? Could it be their polls are invalid? Could it be they load their polls with Democrats over Republicans?

Sorry, don’t trust polls. Go and vote on election day and exercise your right to vote.

BTW, Alabama announces this morning that it has 6 counties where more than 100% of eligible voters are registered. Can anyone spell FRAUD?

Have people become so numb that to betray the public trust to use the systems listed to attempt to attack a private citizen is passed over as nothing? Yes Herman Goring would support such actions but is this the way we want to go as a nation?

From the beginning the Obama campaign has been a time warp to 1935 as orchestrated by Joseph Goebbels. The Obama expected program is right out of the National Socialist Labor Party’s agenda. Hitler wrote one book, Obama has been more bold yet as was the case of Hitler, no one actually believes what is there before our eyes…JS

    25. Maggie on October 26th, 2008 4:13 pm

In a TV ad and in speeches, Obama is making bogus claims that McCain plans to cut $880 billion from Medicare spending and to reduce benefits.

A TV spot says McCain’s plan requires “cuts in benefits, eligibility or both.”
Obama said in a speech that McCain plans “cuts” that would force seniors to “pay more for your drugs, receive fewer services, and get lower quality care.”

Update, Oct. 21: A second Obama ad claims that McCain’s plan would bring about a 22 percent cut in benefits, “higher premiums and co-pays,” and more expensive prescription drugs.

These claims are false, and based on a single newspaper report that says no such thing. McCain’s policy director states unequivocally that no benefit cuts are envisioned. McCain does propose substantial “savings” through such means as cutting fraud, increased use of information technology in medicine and better handling of expensive chronic diseases. Obama himself proposes some of the same cost-saving measures. We’re skeptical that either candidate can deliver the savings they promise, but that

    26. Maggie on October 26th, 2008 4:14 pm

      oops..

but that’s no basis for Obama to accuse McCain of planning huge benefit cuts.

I will never vote for a candidate who is pro-death. I never have, I never will. I don’t care if his or her opponent is a walking stooge, and pro-life. God is on his or her side, and that’s good enough for me.

I paid more in my first 5 years of work, than my dad did in 42 years of work. How fair is that? You should receive no more than you put in, and you should be able to invest it yourself, and leave it to your children. It’s like paying for land you can’t own, and someone else is farming and raising cattle on. I max the social security out each year, but they are talking about raising the ceiling so no one can max out. They have done that with Medicare, which is 3% of income, no matter how much you make. I pay thousands upon thousands each year into Medicare, and I can’t use it until I’m 65. Socialism in its purest form!

Social Security is a Ponzi scheme. It does not pass any actuarial test. There is no retention of capital only an increasing promise to be taken from future taxes. It can be made sound in only 2 ways. First it could be made into a guaranteed input into a fund, such as T bills. The payout would be on an individual basis based upon ownership of the fund. This is like most current pension funds. The second would be a partial ownership with the individual’s payout dependent upon his or her options taken. Maybe next time, you’ll think twice before you peer into people’s, personal, lives with your sick imagination and make outlandish accusations. But, on a personal note, I’ve been threatened before… but, never, to this extreme.

      .

And… I think Klaas would agree.

      We’ll see…

I’ve made copies of everything that you
and Banana Barf have written including
      your last paragraph.

Oh, by the way, you misspelled a word!

A genius with, absolutely, no common sense.

      Fox Fire,

Son of a Gun, you’re right. The Medicare rate is only 1.45%! You made my day. The sky is still blue, the daisies are yellow. Oh, happy day. I’ve paid thousands less than I thought. I must have mistaken my rear for a hole in the ground. Thanks for setting me straight! You have restored my faith in our government.

      Well, Hot Dog!

Does that mean that Social Security is bankrupt?

I mean, how could they, possibly, survive

      without your great sacrifice?

      .

And, poor old Joe, the Plumber doesn’t seem

bright enough to invest money into an IRA, a ROTH

      Oh, Well…

      What can you do?

Fox Fire, (sounds like Camp Fire)

      You said,

It sounds like your folks may be moving in with you!

      .John Staton has arrived

      Camp Fire Girl (Fox Fire),

Now, how in the name of hades did you know my parents and their little dog Charles are moving in with us? You must have extra sensory perspiration.

I’ve told my mother-in-law no way! She is voting for Obama, and I’m not having her in my house. However, I told her she could move in with you and your family. She does snore, walk in her sleep, and she stole my kids one time. She drives like a bat out of hell; so don’t give her your car keys. She is packed and ready to go. All I need is your address, and I’ll ship her via UPS.

      Waterboy:

      I was just kidding.

Read his post (#33) about the payout being based on the amount paid into the fund. I figured since you paid more into Social Security your first five years of working, than your father did in 42 years… your folks might be in for some hard times.

By the way, have you read the latest?

      #35- John Stanton:

John, I admire your business acumen and all of your posts here.

To My Friend Fox Fire: Where is the empathy, you ask? Maturity? Why post an idle threat like that on this website? With a little more than one week to go until election time—don’t we all have more important things to concentrate on? Besides, no attorney would take the case—it’s only a blog—-most everyone posts anonomously.

Like myself, Fox- you have a very strong “on-line” persona and just a strongly and loudly and repetitively put your comments out there on a public forum. Over a computer screen—many judge incorrectly and have us “all wrong”. I believe you to be a decent and true person who would never harm anyone. I believe the same of Mr. John Stanton.

Honestly—so much can be interpreted incorrectly , labeled incorrectly-misconstrued over a computer screen or on a blog.

IMO, I don’t think you should be threatening to contact your attorney over any comments made on a public blog. Just like many probably don’t want to read my posting about the issue here—I think it is clogging up threads with nonsensical topics.

We ALL have a right to post our opinions, comments, arguements, rants & raves on here. Aside for some healthy name calling and descriptive insults to our “opponents” my thoughts are that anything else on a personal level should be kept out of it.

Thanks for letting me post this, Fire & John Stanton….Now Fire—-Go easy on me, Girl ! =)

A New Girl from Boston- Gail L.

    50. Fox Fire on October 27th, 2008 4:08 pm

      New Girl:

I read your post (on a previous thread) last night and it made me cry. But, you know what? If a bomb from a terrorist hit me, right now, at least I’d die believing in the human spirit and the love that we could’ve had for one another, if only we tried. To some, that’s being naive and to others that’s not realistic. But, it’s real to me. I have nothing to be jealous over and everything I have, I’ve shared with others, my whole life. Because deep down inside of me, I have hope. I don’t worry about tomorrow and I live for today. I hate poverty. I hate hopelessness and I hate the suffering that we force on one another. I’ve never been a victim of crime… never been to jail and have accomplished everything I’ve, ever, wanted to do because I believe in me. We live in a dangerous world, but I don’t worry, I don’t fear; because a man could take everything I have, even my life, but he can’t take me. I see things, totally, different than most people, I suppose… but that’s the way I am. I believe that peace comes from within you. Safety, security and the feeling of completeness lies within each and every one of us… and that is our only protection, in this world. I would never kill anyone out of revenge, jealousy or hatred. I would never serve in the military or risk my life for anything or anyone, except my family. I cry at the site of poverty, homelessness and hunger. I have all that I want and more than I could ask for and live with very few regrets. For everything that I have given, I have received a thousand fold and have been blessed my whole life… I don’t see myself as being any better or worse than anyone else. I don’t see badness, even when it’s there; I simply avoid it, try to understand it and forgive it. The needs of my family are no different than the needs of every other family in the whole wide world… and I cry for those that do without. I live in the moment, knowing that when I’m gone, I’m not forgotten. But, most of all; I believe that the world is, only, as good as you make it in the short time that you’re here…. and with that comes peace.

You are my friend and the things you’ve said to me have moved me. I don’t care about politics, but I know whose going to win… and to me, it really doesn’t matter because life will go on. I will continue to make the sacrifices that I have to make for my family and, somehow, we’ll survive because my happiness and my joy is something that no one can take away. There is always something inside of me that says that everything is going to be alright and that’s what I want to leave with you… because you are my friend. Look inside yourself and find the one that’s always there and come to know that nothing and no one can change the love that you have for you… then, share it with others.

As far as this problem between Dave, Mr. Staton and I; the reason that I became involved in the first place was because he was bashing people. I came to the rescue of another, and got the wrath of his anger. I can take being called a stripper and a prostitute; but when there are negative things said about my children, you’re WAY off base. I have been separated from my husband for nearly eight years, now; and, just, finalized my divorce from him a year ago. I have been beaten to the ground and so have my children in the interim. My kids have scars that will never, ever, go away. I fought the odds and am the first person in the state to be granted a new trial after going through ‘binding arbitration’. Every attorney in town told me to give it up. But, I didn’t. Acting as my own attorney, I did what no attorney has ever done before and I got the chance to get true justice against a man that had all the means to buy off the legal system. I could’ve sued every attorney involved and the Judge that acted as our arbitrator, as well; and, still could. But, I’m not a vengeful person. I don’t need them to suffer because they participated with my husband in beating us into oblivion. I did what I did, not because I’m a proud person nor because I’m a vengeful person. I did it for my children and their future. If Mr. John Staton or Super Dave (Banana Barf) thinks that I am going to stand by and allow an idiot on a blog call my children mongrels, he has another thing coming.

My ex-husband speaks four languages, fluently. He is the Engineering Liaison for Mecedes Benz. He travels to/from the U.S. to Mexico, Germany and throughout Eastern Europe training engineers from all over the world. And the audacity that comes from Mr. Staton to call my husband an unskilled worker and me a woman with an eight grade educated is astounding; but it’s okay, by me, because I know different. Self sacrifice, the power to stay in the game and the unwillingness to give up is what kept us strong. We were young people that were fortunate to use the construction of the pipeline to build ourselves a better future. And, if Mr. Staton he thinks that I can’t defend myself against the likes of him when it comes to my children, he has a thing or two to learn. I have been battered by, much, better than he and couldn’t care less about what he may think about me… because I know me best!

While he says I can’t write, I have pleadings and motions that were filed with this county that would put ANY attorney to shame; and, yet, I never studied law. After winning a new trial, I hired an attorney that took this case, simply because it was a precedent-setting case and the most interesting case that he had ever read of. He, along with countless other people have asked that I write a book that would help the many, many women in this state that fall victim to the trap of ‘binding’ arbitration thereby sparing them the heartache that I had to go through. But, if there’s one thing that I’ve learned, it’s that the past is in the past and to dwell on yesterday robs you of today. Life is short, and one makes choices about the things that are important and disregards the rest. Since, my attorney has rescued several women, like me, who’s wealthy husbands tempt them into a quick fix for justice, and giving up their rights to be represented in a court of law by members of her peers. Besides, I’d rather write a book that deals with human trafficking; although I doubt that I will ever find the time.

Just, today, the F.B.I. busted a multi-state, human trafficking ring that resulted in the arrests of over 600 people and the taking into custody over 400 children. It was reported that these children were working out of casinos and truck stops. This is the type of crime that I want to make people aware of. And, if I were to dedicate my life to changing anything in this world it would be the plight of the children that are being taken from their parents and placed into situations like this… all over the world.

Keep the faith, in all you do…

      Patti

      Empathy?

      Identification with and understanding of
      another’s situation, feelings and motives.

The ability to place yourself into someone
else’s shoes and feel their pain.

      .

      Maturity?

The state or quality of being full grown.

      Maturity comes with experience.

      .

      Hope?

To wish for something with expectation of its fulfillment.

To look forward with confidence or expectation.

      .

      Faith?

Belief that does not rest on logical
      proof or material evidence.

      .

God Bless You and Your Family.

      My Friend Fox Fire: (Patti)

Well, now I guess we are even because I was moved by your thoughtful response and post.

Keeping politics out of it—I have to tell you—I too—cherish the gift of love and humans treating eachother with kindness.

Paul Newman was a perfect example of being humble and giving back more to the community, each chance he got. Perfect example….

So, I do understand everything you write about. You know what? I own investment properties in the inner-city of Boston—let me tell you what I have seen I could write a book about. I, too wish that I never have to see another child suffer b/c their parents have abandoned them or are crack heads and these children are left in the care of DSS. I wish I didn’t have to see so many struggle so hard just to grope for their next meal or hand-out. I wish, as I pass the homeless man on the street—that the lousy $10 I gave him could have been much more. I wish, as you do- that oppression, racisim, greed, jealousy, hatred, contempt—-all of these evil things that humans sometimes have would all just vanish. We know though- that there is always good and evil. It is my belief—that the more love and compassion you show for those less fortunate than yourself—the more you will feel so rich & blessed…and not in a monetary sense.

Like you—I do have faith in the human spirit. I live my life as you—-with hope and a fire inside that I refuse to let anybody or anything put out. If it weren’t for people like us who live, breathe and eat our passions and kind of “wear our hearts on our sleeves” well….needless to say this world would be a whole lot more hopeless.

So, thanks for sharing a little part of your true self with everyone here at Scared Monkeys. We may not have the same political views and beliefs…but trust me when I tell you—that passion that lives in our souls is all we need in common to understand one another.

Thanks for sharing again, very nice. We must never give up on our dreams and hopes—-sometimes—it seems it is all we have left.

=) Your Friend, A New Girl from Boston (Gail)

      Empathy

With all the empathy floating around, please empathize with the unborn child.

And also please adopt my mother-in-law. She needs a good home.

      Jerry

Mom needs a good home. A pro-Obama, pro-Clinton, pro-Gore, pro-Edwards home would make her very happy. You can have her brother too. They are both house trained. They are good at light duty work, like lifting a coffee cup, and watching T.V. They will keep you informed on what your neighbors are doing or might be doing, and they are sure to make you a hit with all your liberal friends.

Like I told Camp Fire Girl (Fox Fire), if you are interested, I can send “Mom” via UPS. I’ll just leave her a little water, and poke plenty of holes in her box with a stamp “Ground shipment only” .

      P.S. Please take Mom.

If anyone knows Fox Fire’s address, please put it on a large strong box and send it to me.

LOL at the loser left winged tree hugging nut bag Fox Fire, running to call her attorney, because someone on here pointed out what a fake old bag you really are…he forgot to mention that you ARE A COMMUNIST and should be punished for treason! I highly doubt you could afford a lawyer even if you used all your food stamps AND the free welfare check you will get from Obama if he’s elected!

Go cry a river to someone else you commie loser!

foxfire – you make me want to throw up with your “human spirit” bullsh*t! Get off your soap box and spare all of us your communist rhetoric!

Voting for Obama isn’t believing in the human spirit, it’s voting for the destruction of your liberties (more government control). You believe in human spirit because you believe in receiving a welfare check from the government each month!

      Barf barf barf!

I love Waterboy (Jerry) for real- some of you folks on here missed your callings…so to speak.

      Waterboy—-should have been Comedian.

Scott—You are tenacious! but in a good way—hmnnnnnn… i’m thinking a Corporate Attorney or a largely successful Broker on Wall Street….I get the feeling you are in finance anyway…

=) Have a great day Monkeys
