John Edwards Affair with Reille Hunter: Elizabeth Edwards … I Stayed for my Children

HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A WOMAN’S SCORN …

Elizabeth Edwards now speaks out in her untold story as to the affair that her John_Edwards_affairhusband, John Edwards, had with Reille Hunter. The affair and post comments will leave a further and permanent mark on John Edwards as he put his wife into an untenable situation of staying or leaving with her family and health at risk. It only further shows just how little regard that John Edwards had for his sick wife and his children.

Elizabeth, 59, faced an agonizing choice: “Do I kick him out, or do we have a 30-year marriage that can be rebuilt?” says McElroy. The fact that she suffers from a terminal disease, one that could rob her children – Jack, 8, Emma Claire, 10 and Cate, 26, a student at Harvard Law School – of their mother, weighed heavily in her decision.

“She couldn’t say, ‘Well, maybe we’ll work through this for years, or maybe we should separate for two years,’” adds Elizabeth’s best friend. “[The cancer] forced her to choose whether to move forward.”

Hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn …  Elizabeth Edwards authorizes friend to nail John Edwards over the “she was in remission: comment. It might actually be one of the most thoughtless comments ever uttered in an apology.

your sending the wrong message to women.

She is a better person that me because I would have had to send him packing.

The sick thing is that Rielle may very well become the stepmother to these children.

My hope would be for Elizabeth to divorce him, take half of everything he has (with an irrevocable trust for the kids when they turn 25), and make sure the kids know the quality of trash their father has taken up with.

Wow….what a shocker, another person in politics having an affair and lying to his spouse/family and the American public?

Like this has never happened before in history? To be honest, it’s all getting really old. Every dog has his day…I can’t believe he’d be stupid enough to every marry this woman even after Elizabeth Edwards passes away.

I agree with #1 – don’t these women have any self respect? Are they so afraid to be alone that they will tolerate anything? Great role models!!!

Also, I wish the media would just start reporting who is NOT having an affair – it would take up so much less time and space.

John Edwards talked about Dad’s mill,
While sleeping with a chick off the pill,
He lied and fibbed to the MS press,
And, awoke early to preen and dress.

His wife, Elizabeth, knew the lie in 2006,
But supported John in Iowa while sick,
They stole Hillary’s honest votes daily,
And laughed on cue, and hiding Rielle.

Now John’s betrayal is common news,
And Fred Baron has money to lose,
Rielle, now nursing, has jetted away,
Even ABC and CNN have joined the fray!

John’s affair has hurt his poor kids,
More than Clinton’s cigars ever did,
A sordid tale that some call a crock,
The only winner, a loser named Barack!

#6- I completely agree…..sad truth is….some women will tolerate next to anything as opposed to being single. Not the type of role models I encourage my daughter to look up to, either.

In this particular case though- you have to feel for Elizabeth Edwards knowing she is facing her own mortality sooner than later and not wanting her children to have to endure more loss with kicking their Father’s ass to the curb. I probably would want to do the same thing also, and that is give the young children as much stability as possible while she can control what is left of her life. Had she not been diagnosed with Cancer, I am sure her decision would have been much easier. John Edwards is such a tool.

John Edwards – what a scumbag liar. This seems to be the way the world is heading these days. All anyone thinks of is themself. I think he is still lying through his teeth to cover his sorry A**. I really feel for his wife. She really had no choice of whether to stay or go. Her being sick and needing care, insurance, help with her children, etc. I am sure that she is a very independent woman and would see leaving as burdening her children instead of helping them. There was a comment made regarding her about her just starting to let her son begin his reading and she couldn’t talk to whomever it was (after John revealed his affair.) It was mentioned that she had her children on her mind even after the news broke. I only hope that this is how she is treating her cheating husband when he wants anything from her. It’s all about her children now and giving them all of her time that she can, while she is still able to.
Also, one of Edwards friends says he is not doing too well right now. Well, good for him. I hope he is not doing too well for a long, long time. May he never forgive himself for putting someone that he supposedly loves through such torment and H*ll.

He just a thought, we been hammering John Edwards for this, but it takes two to tango. Reille is a skank too. Messing with a man who has a sick wife. See here is the laws of attracton working…they deserve each other. I’d like to be a fly on the wall at the Edward’s house.

    11. Miss-Underestimated on August 15th, 2008 8:52 am

      Snipet from People Mag
“Behind the public show of strength, the Edwards’ household has been a scene of turmoil and tension since John, 55, first began revealing the truth about his affair with former campaign aide, Rielle Hunter, 44, after the formal launch of his campaign in the final days of 2006. “He told the truth slowly,” according to one source close to the couple”

Really slow, huh, is he still working on the truth?

    12. Richard on August 15th, 2008 11:58 am

There’s an AP story out today … I don’t remember it too well … but apparently this woman was paid $14,000 of Edwards’ campaign money.

The payment wasn’t by Edwards directly, but by some political hotshot who said Edwards knew nothing about it.

Use of campaign money for such purposes, of course, is illegal. This story raises this whole scandal to a new dimension … not that the media seem to be very interested.

Incidentally, Edwards is a trial lawyer, as is the person who says he made the payments.

Good to see that integrity is still at work.

      I agree with #3

Edwards sexual organ became like his ego on the campaign…..other things were more important than giving comfort and aid to his dying eye “till death do us part.” What a fuck!
