American Airlines and American Eagle Cancel Flights to Aruba … There is a Demand to go to Aruba?

American Airlines and American Eagle has cut and canceled virtually all flights from the US to Aruba. Further signs that not only has the increase in fuel prices made these cuts necessary, but also demand to the Aruban tourism destination. High prices of fuel are obviously going to be the public reason what is given for the cuts and cancellation of flights; however, it is obvious that if the demand for travel to Aruba far outweighed the fuel costs there would have been no need to make a decision for the cut back in air travel.

Effective September of this year, the direct AA-flights from New York to Aruba on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are going to be cancelled.  Also American Eagle’s flights from San Juan to Aruba and St. Maarten will be cancelled, same as the jet-flights between Puerto Rico and St. Maarten.

American Airlines Flying Away from the Caribbean

In the meantime, Caribbean tourism types are freaking out. Without planes coming in, how are all those sun-seeking tourists gonna get to the islands?

UPDATE I: Continental becomes latest U.S. airline to cut service

Continental’s announcement came a day after United Airlines said it was discontinuing Ted, its low-fare airline, cutting 1,100 more jobs on top of previously announced cuts and retiring a total of 100 aircraft. Delta Air Lines and American Airlines have announced similar steps.

Curacao falls outside; American Airlines’ economy measure (Amigoe 5/5/2008)

WILLEMSTAD – The two daily flights from Miami to Curacao are not as yet included in American Airline’s economy measures.  AA will reduce the number of direct flights between New York (JFK) and Aruba drastically.  American Eagle will cancel her flights from San Juan to St. Maarten and Aruba, and Bonaire will be left with 3 weekly flights.

Maarten.

American Eagle has already cancelled her two flights from San Juan to Curacao two years ago.  AA increased her frequency to Curacao with two daily flights, of which the evening one spends the night on the airport of Curacao and returns to Miami the next morning.  The company will possibly reduce the number of weekly flights from 14 to 10.

As a result of among others the high fuel prices, AMR Corporation, owner of American Airlines and American Eagle has started a big economy operation.  Compared to last year, the company wants to reduce her foreign flight capacity with 10 to 11 percent in the fourth quarter.  Of the 55 regional flights from San Juan, AA will cancel 22 by the beginning of September this year.  That city is left with 18 of the 38 daily flights from the US.

Economic Affair’s minister Elvis Tjin Asjoe (UPG) attended a meeting of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) on the plans of American airline companies to reduce flights in connection with the drastic increase of the fuel prices.  AA has meanwhile introduced a luggage surcharge as part of the fuel price increase.

Bonaire will be left with 3 weekly American Eagle flights from San Juan on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.  The aircraft has 55 seats but these are almost never used optimally, because the aircraft must transport a lot of diving equipment for the passengers; and in addition to that, the crew must spend the night in Bonaire, which also involves extra costs; however the company won’t change that, which means that the return flights continue to be on the next day.

American Eagle every year transports 40 percent of the American tourists that visit Bonaire.  Bonaire will loose about 25 percent of the total transportation capacity of travelers from the United States.  The tourist bureau and island territory of Bonaire are looking together for possible solutions, like other airline companies for example.

The whole airline industry is in a crisis…they are placing surcharges on luggage and thinking about weighting passengers…if you are overweight it will cost you more to fly…

Well Aruba….you are now toast. Was it all worth it? Covering up for your buddy and his kid? Was it worth losing all of the evidence for this? Was it worth creating fraudulant statements, for this? Was it worth trashing the Holloway family? Was it worth throwing up all sorts of false witnesses? Was it worth recovering the body at the rocks only to say that nothing ever happened?

Was it worth AHATA (Aruban Hotel and Tourism Authority) creating a budget to fight and counteract bad publicity by bringing in a couple of crackpot psychics to denounce the Holloways. Was it worth AHATA admitting that they would aggressively counteract negative media (with lies, innuendo, and slander no less).

Well Aruba…we all could have told you, “I told you so.”

Now times are tough in the airline business due to fuel costs. As the airline execs step into their ‘war room’ they look at the places where traffic is no longer profitable. You, Aruba and AHATA, have created a situation where there is no traffic to your corrupt little island. You now are going to pay as it is not profitable to fly there anymore. Watch for Delta and Continental Airlines to follow closely behind.

Memo to Aruba – instead of spending money on Pay Per Click ads to try and improve your image, spend it on developing Aruba Airlines. The Caymans do this and this may be your only chance to get tourists. Heck, you could even offer coffee, tea, druggings, and rapings as part of your service!

Recovering your tourism is not going to occur with banner ads on websites. YOU ARE TOAST UNTIL YOU STEP UP AND ARREST PAULUS VAN DER SLOOT and fully prosecute and put him behind bars.

Continental Airlines is cutting it’s work force by 3000 people and taking 67 planes out of service…there will only be 375 flights to the mainland….reducing service to travelers in the US…

United Airlines is taking 70 more jets out of service….

The airlines do not see it profitable to fly all the way to Aruba with no tourists on board…cruise line aren’t going to waste the fuel to go that far into the Caribbean…

People wanting to go on vacation are now thinking about staying closer to home with shorter distance driving and no air fare….

in this article on Caribiana the Aruban Transport and Tourism minister sounds very worried.

      http://antilliaans.caribiana.nl/aruba/car20080605_briesen-prijzen

      some quotes:

“The Aruban minister Edison Briesen of Transport and Tourism is very much concerned about the high fuel prices. This can have disastrous consequences to Aruba.”

“Briesen says he is actively looking to turn the tide
and avert the feared disaster. Already conversations have been with all sectors concerned on Aruba, ‘to prepare for a plan B’.”

“For Aruba this situation makes the future uncertain because the American market covers 75% of the tourism sector. “The complete economic crisis in the US plays a large role. For this reason we are looking at alternatives. This is worrisome. What will we do with our budget?”

This site is sooo not 100 percent correct. Let me start by mentioning that what was mentioned about curacao, aruba nd bonaire is true. The facts are true, as for sint maarten, it is not true. AA will cancel the JET flight from puerto rico to sint maarten and cancel 35 of the 55 American Eagle flights from Puerto Rico and Sint Maarten. The JFK-SXM flights remain and the MIA-SXM flights also remain, though there are plans to reduce the JFK to sint maarten flight. So eagle will still fly to sint maarten. They use sint maarten as a hub to go to Dominican Republic, cause these people need visa if they go through Puerto Rico..

In reply to mister dad, that is soo low of you to talk about nathaly holloway and saying that its because of that. Sir pls fall back, cause USA has the most crimes in the world, so what are you talking about. Typical american think you are the world and like to bash others while your garden aint clean. Do research, talk about th many people you killing in the world with your uncalled war among other..

americn airlines aint even all that, they dont even feed you. Jetblue, United or other will take up these routes. They are glad that american is pulling out. Sint Maarten wont feel it either, cuse jetblue is doing geat thereand will do even better if american pulls out. they just started and their flights are fuller than jetblue.

      Gerald,

      1) JetBlue is a Discount Airline. United is deep sixing their discount airline as no one can make money on discounted flights anymore.

      2) Not sure where you get off on me linking Natalee Holloway to this. Here is how things work Gerald: Aruba covers up crimes committed by several priviledged Dutch inhabitants, Bloggers expose the cover-up, Governors of many states join in supporting a boycott against tourism to Aruba, Aruba gets black eye in the media as the fumble time after time in trying to come up with a logical explanation for why step after step they botched the case…..tourists decide to vacation in Mexico, Sint Martin!, US desitinations….but anywhere other than Aruba. Airlines feel the pain as they have empty seats. Empty seats translates into not making money. Aruba routes become unprofitable due to low loads. Aruba routes become unbearably unprofitable when fuel prices double.

Now, you have empty planes + twice the operational expense to get to and from Aruba….what do you do? You cut your losses and run.

The handling of the Natalee Holloway case is definately related to Aruba losing AA as a carrier. Watch for Delta, Continental, and others to follow shortly.

      #14 another response for Gerald:

for a part you are right.
still Continental and Delta, United and US are flying to Aruba.

but the Aruba Transport and Tourism minister is very worried.
all due to the high full prices and the recession in the USA.

      http://antilliaans.caribiana.nl/aruba/car20080605_briesen-prijzen

now they regret closing down the Lagos Refinery and basing their economy solely on tourism.
South-America isn’t going to bring the same amount of money in.
and Europa has their own sun holiday destinations close by.
some Europeans will still come for sure.
but for them the fuel cost is even higher because it is further away.
and Aruba is in no way going to compete with the Mediterranean and Red Sea tourist destinations.

    20. Sue on June 5th, 2008 12:23 pm

The bottom line is the boycott worked in my eyes

Gerald, USA has over 300 million people, and 3,717,813 sq mi. so naturally there would be more crimes. Noone here has ever said the USA is perfect. If you can find anyone missing in the USA from Aruba.that has been treated by the USA like Natalee and her family has been please let us know.

Right from the start, it was apparent, justice for Natalee was not the intentions of those in power as law officers for the victims of crime. Go check the crackhouses, go arrest 2 black men, search their houses at dawn and interrogate them, just don’t bother questioning, or searching the last 3 known to be with Natalee and was proven liars the first night. Wait 10 days, don’t bother to question why the 2 that own the car Natalee was last seen in were cleaning it before daylight. Don’t search the main suspects entire property for 2 years until the Dutch enter the picture. Question why Deepak’s car was at the Sloots the night Beth arrived, when Deepak said he was at work, then a casino, Satish was home. Why one of the guards said Deepak told him the Dutch guy and his father and the family sat around the pool and made up the Holiday Inn lie that would’ve had to been made up before it was public Natalee was missing, because Joran used it the first night. Why did Paulus come to the door woke up from sleep (he said) carrying a cellphone and wouldn’t you know he needed it to call Joran and then led everyone on a wild goose chase for over an hour to the Wyndham, when Joran was never even there. It would take a week to list all the things we have seen..that are beyond strange. Even Dutch investigators called it strange and unprofessional. Paulus made it known he worked with all these people for years and knew them well, including the main cop.. Jan Van Der Straten. a family friend. I believe they need someone to investigate the ones doing the investigation. Dennis Jacobs first thing he asks a father, whose daughter has been missing for about 3 days, how much money do you have? Go have a beer and watch your drink, they might drug you. Apparently they were well aware of people being drugged in their drinks at Carlos n Charlies, but what were they doing about it? nothing. Why isn’t that on the brochures to warn parents and teens seeing how Jacobs thought it was important to alert a father in his 40s? 2 confessions in the case. Deepak told John Croes Natalee put her hands down his pants in a chat session to throw off an investigation.. there was no investigation when he said that, noone even knew Natalee was missing yet. Father is looking up booze and drugs, the effects on young people and lawyers the night after Natalee goes missing. Anita calls Freddy over the house to ask a witness what they told the police. Paulus says no body no case, a day or so after Natalee is gone and the security guards are being arrested. Joran with a cellphone his father brought him jail. His lawyer Devries said meeting with the prosecutor.. a big no no.. The undercover tape of Joran telling one of the Kalpoes I should’ve killed you. or you will get 15 years if they find the girl and if they find her they will see the sh#t. Find me a missing Aruban in the USA with these circumstances. It has never been about the numbers of crimes anywhere. It has been about the total lack of respect and the callous disregard for the victim Natalee Holloway’s life and the hell her family has lived with everyday for 3 years now.

Still these people are trying to write books, paint and go on shows and sue to make money in the name of Natalee Holloway, while they are all alive and well and living their lives, just as they did pre Natalee and yet Natalee’s life is forever gone and a family is left with a big hole in their lives that will never go away. In 3 years it has never been shown that 1 person has ever seen or heard from Natalee again since she was seen leaving with Joran, Satish and Deepak from Carlos n Charlies. Joran btw told some of Natalee’s friends he was a tourist staying at the same hotel as them, 19 years old..all lies.

Seriously what parent in their right mind would want their child to go there? Who wants their child to be next. Nothing has changed.

Good for American Airlines…and American Eagle.. less young girls

I was thinking earlier today, and
      that can be very dangerous.

Aruba needs a new flag image overhaul! Now that everyone looks at the Aruban flag with about as
much zeal as looking at the Nazi flag, after the
way they have terrorized Natalee Holloway and her family for the past three years.

So, I got right to work designing them a new one.

I thought maybe we could soften it up a little
bit and put some flowers on it. I found two of
the prettiest flowers I have in my image database,
and put it together with Aruba’s favorite slogan!

I think it’s a friggin’ work of art, but I’m a little biased. Perhaps I need to phone Anita

80,000 people disappear every year through the web of human trafficking. Aruba is a hub, between Venezuella, Colombia and the Netherlands. That is why it’s so important to find out where the discrepancies lie in the immigration numbers that have been reported to the Dutch by Aruba. They have come out and said that the numbers don’t match. Don’t believe, even for one minute that this is just about Natalee for there were thousands that have fallen before her and there will continue to be sacrifices made, inspite of our boycott. 14. Gerald, thank you for your input and clarification about flights to Aruba. As for our crime, we don’t deny it, which Aruba did. We don’t think we are the whole world, but we are big and get bashed a lot. When we bash back or stand up for our own, many cry foul and tell us we’re arrogant. As for the uncalled for war, I believe some in our government lied to us. But I hope your news sources have told you about the heinous things Saddam Hussein did to his own people. He was a threat to stability in the Middle East and his hatred for America was well known. You also know he once invaded his neighbor, Kuwait. What would the world say if we invaded our neighbor? We’d be condemned. We’re not perfect, Gerald, but we will stand up for ourselves, as you are doing. I do hope that if you, your friends or relatives travel to the U.S., you are treated well. If something goes wrong, I hope you get help. Beth and Dave went to Aruba looking for their daughter and were treated very badly, make their tragedy worse. We watched Aruba cover for one of their own and blame the family of this beautiful American girl. We’re standing with the girl.

Hello all… Aruba is dependent on the American economy which seems to be tanking and taking the rest of the world with it. America will bounce back ( I am not sure how, but it will ) but by that time, Aruba will have sunk. Even if they charge zero for their rooms, they aren’t going to make it. So saaaad. They had their eggs in one basket, tourism.

I’m sure that it is an economic decision that was made to not fly to Aruba by AA. However, we all know that the wheels of justice grind slowly. This is just part of the process. Aruba is going down. Trolls can get cranky, but Aruba is getting her just desserts. “A piece of bread would buy a bag of gold….” Too bad they all weren’t ready—-with the truth about Natalee!

      Yawn…
      Talk about suggestive information.

The AMR announced last week that American Airlines is cutting 300 (!) flights and not only to the Caribbean due to rising fuel prices.

To suggest this has something to do with the dissapearance of Natalee is absurd.

There are still flying a lot of airlines to Aruba such as KLM, Martinair, Arkefly, Continental, US Airways, United, LAN and Avianca. And that for an island with less than 100,000 residents. So apparently there is a demand indeed.

    46. john staton on June 6th, 2008 7:17 am

Many things are not simplistic and this is one of them. Yes, there is a general contraction in the Tourist Industry in general. All will be hurt by this contraction, however a look at Aruba 3 years ago vs now is in order. Three years ago, Aruba was looking for a substantial increase in traffic with an increase in up scale traffic in order to save their bloated government. Aruba, however, has been stuck on Stupid for 3 years. Capital investment has run away and their customer base has reduced to smaller and smaller numbers concentrated in the North East US. Watch for this to further reduce to include only those having property interest in Aruba. Aruba has become a joke and a poster child of where not to go in the world. This coupled with their insane taxing decisions will produce a further decline in property values and income possibilities. If you own property there, it is probably too late for you to get out with anything..JS

      Amster,

I know it is quite difficult for you…

…but PLEASE, I’m begging you, try desperately not to act like a douchebag.

The reason why they cut them, is because fuel is
sky high, and they cannot fill ‘em. When you make
a cut… you go for straight for the things you can really DO WITHOUT.

      Much like in personal finances.

We can do without Aruba. I wish Natalee
did without Aruba, but that’s too late now.

Joran and the Kill-poes DEFINITELY had
a bunch to do with bringing the house down!

      NOT BETH.
      NOT DAVE.
      NOT THE US MEDIA.

More proof for folks who do

not see that Patrick Van der eem

      is an idiot.

      —-

      Justice for Natalee Holloway said:

Patrick, Like so many posters from Aruba you are very quick to point out that the US has crime. You are absolutely correct, Patrick, the US has a lot of crime, but this is not about the US. It’s about Aruba. This is a diversion tactic that you and your fellow Arubans put forth in an attempt to change the focus from the Natalee crime to general crime in the US. It simply isn’t about us this time, it’s all about Aruba. Aruba is responsible for the corruption and the coverup that followed the horrific disappearance of a promising young American woman who chose to celebrate a significant event in her life on your island. The way in which her disappearance has been handled is deplorable. After three years, we continue to learn of the depth of the corruption and coverup. It would most assuredly be a valuable learning experience for you to read the many hours of research and documentation of corruption and a coverup that exists at the scared monkey site. I am confident though, that you are already aware of this and you have probably personally experienced much of what we have put forth about corruption and coverups.
Contrary to the implications that you have made, we are not ignorant enough to believe that we hold every man. woman, and child on Happy Island directly responsible for the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. It’s insulting that you would even suggest this. We do know that those who are directly responsible have been protected. We have no way to break through this web of protection with only our voices and requests. Our boycott of Aruba is intended to force the citizens of Aruba to demand what they already know should be the right actions from their government. Three years of pleas for justice have been to no avail. Perhaps by affecting the personal bank accounts of the Aruban citizens, we will finally see the culmination of our demands for justice. The Aruban people have certainly been quite vocal of late in demanding salary and overtime increases. Perhaps they will eventually also demand justice and right actions. Our basic requests are not at all outrageous. We are asking for honor and truth. These are two human rights that should be afforded to everyone on your island whether they are Aurban or foreign tourists.
We are appreciative of your efforts to expose Joran van der Sloot. We were supportive of you when you met with resistance on your recent trip to Aruba. You have most certainly been effective in keeping this crime and Joran, himself, in the media. We celebrate that your actions have most assuredly brought a great deal of stress and discomfort to the perpetrators. We also accept that as an Aruban it is most likely painful for you to witness any financial loss to your island. However, you must also be cognizant of the fact that we did not create the Natalee Holloway incident. Aruban/Dutch people created this problem and it is Aruba who must step forward with the correct resolution. Until this happens, we will continue to boycott your Happy Island for what was done to Natalee Holloway, for what was done to her parents, and for what has been done to other American tourists who have ventured onto your island.
We want justice, Patrick, and we will not stop until it is delivered by the government and people of Aruba. We will continue to boycott your island and I have no doubt that you would do the same if this had happened to a Dutch or Aruban girl on the streets of the US. Your pompous statements will only serve to fuel our anger and our resolve. I am sincerely disappointed to learn that you have known the van der Sloots for seven years, lived across the street from the Kalpoes, and staged the entire video with your friend Joran. You should be ashamed of yourself. I, for one, will not be purchasing your volume of fiction and I have no intention of stopping my boycott of Aruba.

      RESPONSE PATRICK

      Dear Mr or Mrs. Smith

I don’t see any new point of view in this that has not already been discussed. But you had not posted yet, so I give you some space. I notice again that you are also one of these scared monkeys who have consipracy on the top of their minds. It is not a diversion tactic and I don’t have fellow Arubans I even spoke with this about. Of course it is important to realize that a kid – just as example – lives in a far more dangerous world in the USA as far as crime goes, than in France, or Germany… or Aruba. In the sense of a call for a boycott that says all. Cover-ups, corruption and bad actions of dirty authorities also happen in the States. Let me say it very simple, if Natalee would have been black for instance the media would have not paid that much – if any – attention. Also that happens in your own country many times. Focus on your own faults, I have already focused on the one that happened 3 years ago in Aruba and I’m still working on it.

For the rest, see Soph, she all summed it up correctly.

      Greetings

      ——

      patrick va der eem:

Of course I do not believe “the government” of Aruba or “the autorities of Aruba” organized a cover-up. The only thing I can say is that some of them did not react very sensitive and said things which hurt Beth and Dave and all people in the world who are shocked when a young girl’s life ends like this. About a cover-up of the people who have a direct interest in the case, or when it is about spreading manipulative information, like Castro duid about the case and about me, well, there I can imagine people are unhappy. But that is the action of those people.

Oh, and Jason, I’m not afraid of anybody, so don’t worry. I can take care of myself.

      Greetings,

      Patrick

Thank you, Miss Katie and New Girl!

I think this idea to post the letter in the newpaper was a great one. They did a good job on it. Destiny, I’ve never met you, but you have my utmost respect. I will be praying for a hero until one finally comes. I hope the leads received by the F.B.I will pan out and we can bring down the barriers between us and Aruba. I think we have tried our best to be forth-coming and honest with Aruba; and now it’s up to them to make the next move and I hope it’s a good one.

We are not going to accept anymore lies… only the truth. We have all the right people on our side, the F.B.I., the State Department, the United Nations, the Law and most of all, our faith. We are not going away until there is Justice for Natalee and assurance that nothing like this will ever happen again in Aruba or anywhere else… to a child, because of her innocence.

May the angels continue to bless our efforts and to guide us on our journey into the unknown. May God give us wisdom to direct our steps, protection both day and night and his trust and love that we can be a beacon, shining in the night for the world to see, as we try to solve the great mystery and guide Natalee home. Again, we pray for a hero… a brother in kind, that can help us on our journey.

We thank you for your patience as we are all imperfect and we ask for your forgiveness where we fall short of the glory of God. We ask all these things through Christ, our Lord and King, who gave his life that we all might live. We pray for the day that He will bring an end to the violence and suffering upon the earth. But, until that day, we remain your humble servants.

How is it that YOU or anyone else, for that matter, should have a copy of Joran’s passport in the first place? You’re right the airline companies are in a crisis and our hearts go out to all those who have been laid off, or otherwise affected.

But, the truth is, if the planes that flied to Aruba were full, or even 1/4 full; they wouldn’t have been retired. THAT should tell you something. In case you haven’t already guessed, Americans are not going to Aruba, don’t want to go to Aruba and are in support of the family of Natalee Ann Holloway in respecting the boycott AGAINST Aruba.

Your arguments on the flights don’t hold. A plane filled only 25% is a great loss for airlines with current kerosine prices and will de omitted from the schedule. Airlines face a loss of 4 billion EURO with current prices. Heads will roll. Everywhere. And sorry, but even in the low season there are still plenty American tourists here on Aruba. You make the big mistake of talking on behalf of all Americans while you know that America is as divided as any country. You take pride in you individuality (on which your nation is based) but in cases like this you presume that you think and act as one nation. Well wake up you aren’t. Gas from Colombia for the production of electricity and water

ORANJESTAD – As respond on the increasing oil prices and its negative consequences for our island, the government has decided to import gas from Colombia. The electricity supply can be altered to use natural gas instead of fuel oil for an estimate of 20 millions. The production of electricity and water becomes 40 percent cheaper because of this, said Premier Nelson Oduber yesterday. “Besides, it’s going to be cleaner.”

The premier of Aruba made these comments during a press conference yesterday. He is just back from a working visit in Colombia. He took part as listener in the General Meeting of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Colombia. He met with the Colombian president Alvaro Uribe last Sunday discussed among others the energy policy. Uribe suggested supplying Aruba with natural gas, just like Colombia does with Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Panama. They agreed that the ambassador for the Kingdom will start negotiating today with the Colombian minister of Mining and energy. A delegation of representatives of WEB and Elmar intends to go to Colombia and work out the further details afterwards. This is an historic moment, said Oduber.

The premier says that altering the WEB to use natural gas instead of fuel oil must be possible in one year. WEB will take care of the costs, about 20 millions. The natural gas will have to be transported by ship in the beginning, but the construction of a pipeline must be considered on the medium- and long run. This pipeline will have to run via Venezuela to our island. Oduber thinks that this may take about 3 years. Apart from using the gas for the production of electricity and water, it can also be used for cars and in the houses. Oduber does not abandon the thoughts of other alternatives like wind- and sun energy, but these can only supply the island with a limited amount of electricity and water. Other energy sources like pet-coke and pitch are too expensive, says the premier. Also the deepwater cooling is no option. “We do not have deepwater here.”

Aqualectra-director Anton Casperson cannot judge the Aruban situation, but he considers 40 percent cheaper production costs for Curacao not reasonable. “Gas is indeed a serious option for us; especially from environmental considerations in combination with wind.”

Aqualectra is not in negotiations with the gas suppliers as yet. “The investments are high, and you must earn these back.” Aqualectra is in the process of adjusting the long-term plans as committed in the Plan 2020.

no one in aruba knows better.. if you do your in denial if you dont your brainwashed…

its like when someone sees a tornado coming… and they refuse to believe it and suddenly wham… all the warning that were given to you went to deaf ears…

because you refused to see what was coming…

      until it was to late

thats what we have been telling you about aruba….

you see all the signs there… you seen the economy going down the toilet… and still because of pride and because you dont want us to be right… you continue to deny the facts….

      and that is truly sad…

people like you no one can reach because you live in denial….

      ester
I dont dislike you … after all you are a product of your inviroment… you have the right to protect your island even though you know your wrong.. sometimes you come here and I read what you most and you actualy sound helpful and sincere and than just like that you switch… thats when you feel like your betraying aruba…. I feel sad for you and your island… none of us here want anything better than to see justice for natalee by bringing her remians home….

you sway beteen right and your loyalty…

your doing what you feel you have to and therefore try to understand we do the same…. give us the respect we need to fulfill our goal…

      as for don

I dont know he is attention seeking… quite alot like you when I first met you here…. he is feeling like he has to be loyal to aruba… but aruba would sell you both to the dogs if they had too… your govt is corrupt…

but than you know that… but you think that if you keep coming here saying no no we arent it will make aruba better…

nothing will ever be the same in aruba…
your loyalty is good but to someone that deserves it

please quit wasteing good energy on aruba.. they wouldnt be there for you… dont be naive

accept the truth and help those that need you in aruba….

dont defend something dirty and vile…

make a difference.. unite as citizens and take your island back
      the end

      OR VINEGAR

    90. Patti on June 7th, 2008 6:48 pm

      I guess I was wrong…

It isn’t the intelligent ones posting today.

      .

Let me ask you, Don or Ester, either one…

What does Aruba need with all that Natural Gas?

It’s not like the whether gets cold there.

There’s hardly any need for air conditioning…

And, yet, your Prime Dimpster is going to spend

over 20 million dollars (which is a joke) to lay

a pipeline between Colombia and Aruba?!?!?

      .

Don’t you think that it might be a bit of an over-reaction on his part, considering there are less than 100,000 people on the island? There are cheaper ways to go and, believe me, this ‘pipe’ dream is only an arrogant man trying to act like a big shot!

      But, then again,

that describes Aruba to a tee…

Big-City Gangsters on a little, tiny island.

How much natural gas do you think

      it would take to ‘heat’

      an island 12 miles long?

You people are just plain stupid!

      .

      Hey, Oduber!

Get that straw out of your nose

      and do the math…

      .

      And Don, you’re right, I don’t know you…

But I do know enough to know…

      You’re SCREWED!

      .

      And… pipelines are my speciality!

      Morrison Knudson Rivers…

The largest pipeline company in the world.

Why don’t you ask them how much it’d cost

      for that ingenius project…

      .

      Go for it, Aruba!

We love to see you fall right on your face,

      over and over, again.

      .

      Why? Oh why? Oh why?

      .
      .

      Carpe:

      You’re so funny!

My son became a father when he was 20…

      So, yes, I’m a grandma!

My daughter took him to Chuck E. Cheese,

today, and brought him here for a swim.

You know how excited they get at Chuck E’s…

So he swam, like a fish, had dinner and

      We hate crime against children,

      and

      we hate gangsters.

      .

      Okay?

      .

We don’t wish harm on you.

      In fact,

we want the boycott to be over,

      just like you.

      .

Did you know that Oduber told his police troops

to hide Natalee’s body, instead of sending her

      home to her family?

      .

We are very angry about that. And when we read the newspapers about what Oduber and the other ministers are doing to you, we get angry about that, too. We can’t help it.

We care about you more than you

      could ever imagine.

      .

    98. Patti on June 7th, 2008 7:59 pm

      Miss Katie:

      Are you here?

    99. Patti on June 7th, 2008 8:29 pm

I think Queen Bea needs to go back to Aruba and build it into a country that is not reliant on the drug market, human trafficking and money laundering. It’s sad that Nelson Oduber has these people wrapped around his finger so tight, they’ll believe anything. Jossy is a very bright man and I’ll bet it hurt him to have to print that article about the latest and greatest scheme on the part of Nelson Oduber.

Someone needs to get a grip on that island, educate the people who live there and give them a life that consists of more than just seeing to the needs of the wealthy, running drugs and pimping women. If it were only the citizens doing these things, I’d blame the police; but in the case of Aruba it is the Parliament that is doing them, too.

Once again, it is the innocent, naive and uneducated that suffer the most. I, honestly, don’t think they even know what is going on, right under their noses… either that, or they just don’t care. Either way, my opinion is that these are the results of years and years of living under occupation.

So, Queen Bea, get yourself back over there and work YOUR magic in the humanitarian department and clean up the island that you have left to fin for itself.

      It’s sickening!

The divers – three from Britain and one each from France and Sweden – were rescued following a massive sea search in the area where they were last seen Thursday plunging into the water from their wooden boat, said Lt. Col. Buce Helo, a local police chief.

He said the five had drifted more than 12 hours before arriving at Rinca island about 20 miles away from their dive site. They didn’t know the island was a reserve for aggressive monitor lizards, the largest in the world, that often feast in packs and can kill beasts as large as buffalo.

Laurent Pinel, 31, said the group had to fight off one dragon with rocks. They spent two nights there before being found by rescuers on Saturday.

Rescuers took them by motorboat to Labuhan Bajo, a city on the western tip of nearby Flores island, said Pariman, chief of the local port authority.

The five were rushed to a local hospital.

Pariman, who goes by only one name, described their condition as weak but healthy.

“They are alive and are now on their way to get medical assistance,” Ernest Leandowski, the husband of one of the British divers, Kathleen Mitchinson, told the British news agency Press Association. “That is all I can say at this stage, as I have not yet spoken to my wife.”

The diving trip took place off of Tatawa island, near the Komodo National Park, which is home to the world’s largest lizards, the Komodo dragons. The area is famous for its rich marine diversity but also for its treacherous and unpredictable seas.

Recommended only for experienced divers, it is in a place where the Indian and Pacific Oceans meet, creating currents that converge and separate. Whirlpools and eddies can pull divers downwards.

“They have been floating out there for two days,” Dave Allin, the relieved father of Charlotte Allin, also of Britain, told Press Association. “We are still waiting for news of how they are.”

The three other divers were identified as James Manning of Britain, Elena Neralairen of Sweden, and Lauren Pinel of France.

Rinca island is about 20 miles south of Tatawa.

I am trying to get it through your thick skull!!
I dont seem to be getting results…

none the less here I go for the last time..
it’s not all arubans that I dislike ..and I never used the word hate…. it’s those in ofice in control of your screwed up goverment that I am against.. and… those that were involved in the disappearance and death of natalee.. including pauulus, joran, the kalpoes and all others….involved…

      I KNOW!!!
there are lots of fine people in aruba like jossy mansur and many others that have been compassionate and passionate towards seeking justice….

not all arubans are bad… there are lots of kind caring humble people.. but the unfortunate thing is that .. it’s the bad ones that corrupt the system…
your officials took an oath to serve and protect and guess what… they never honored their oath.. instead they brought shame and disrespect….

theres alot of crime on that island because justice is lax… the human traffickers… drug trafficers.. and under world figures… all prosper uncluding the officials that are supposed to protect their citizens…

so lets make this clear because I am not going to repeat myself and have this conversation with you again….

I am not mean per say but I do stand my ground and protect what I feel is just and fown on the injustice that was and continues to be done towards natalees family…..

why do you bother coming here… to criticize and start arguments …leave us alone to do what we feel we must… dont come here to hinder and block our work..

surely your maturity level is above that…

      PATTI
YOU KNOW WHAT REALY GETS ME ABOUT THIS … THAT JORAN IS IN THAILAND… IT’S THE FACT THAT HIS PARENTS ARE TERRIBLE AND THAT THEY HAVE LEARNED NOTHING FROM WHAT HAPPENED TO NATALEE … THEY CONTINUE TO ENABLE THEIR SON TO PARTY AND GAMBLE AT THEIR EXPENSE…

THEY RUINED HIS LIFE BY NOT SETTING BOUNDARIES AND TEACHING HIM MORALS AND VALUES AND RESPECT…AS A RESULT NATALEES LIFE WAS RUINED ALONG WITH HER PARENTS…

HOW MANY TIMES HAS HE SPIT IN HIS PARENTS FACE SO TO SPEAK AS FAR AS DISRESPECT GOES….

HIS LIFE STYLE HAS NOT CHANGED SINCE NATALEES TRAGIC DEATH AT HIS HANDS AND STILL HE CONTINUES TO DO THE VERY SAME THINGS HE WAS DOING PRIOR TO HER DEATH….

HE HAS NO EDUCATION TO SPEAK OF.. HE COULDNT STAY FOCUSED LONG ENOUGH.. HE HAS NO JOB… TO SPEAK OF.. HE FIGURES THAT HIS PARENTS OWE IT TO HIM … HE HAS NO CAR.. NOW THAT REALY PUZZLES ME .. EITHER HE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE.. OR HIS PARENTS REFUSE HIM A CAR .. WHICH IS HARD TO BELIEVE SINCE THEY HAVE ALREADY FORKED OUT THOUSANDS ON HIM.. THAT REALY PUZZLES ME… BECAUSE MOST KIDS HIS AGE ARE INTO NICE CARS OR TRUCKS … BUT THIS ONE DOESNT SEEM TO FIT IN WHERE THATS CONCERNED.. UNLESS HE IS NOT MENTALY FIT TO DRIVE….

IF HE IS IN THAILAND WHICH I AM SURE PATTI… IS RIGHT… THAN ALL I CAN SAY IS..

      TIME WILL TELL..
HE IS ON A SELF DESTRUCTION DISTRUCTION COURSE WITH HIS FATHER AND MOTHER BEHIND THE WHEEL
HE WILL SELF DISTRUCT SOONER OR LATER…

IF AND WHEN THE TIME COMES THAT HE MEETS HIS DEMISS IN DEATH.. THEY WILL BLAME THEM SELVES FOR NOT DOING SOMETHING SOONER…

makes me wonder what kind of values they teach in those third world countries.. I hear that europeans are more liberal in their actions and life styles..

I think we americans for the most part try to teach our children right from wrong.. we set boundaries and teach our children that you are responsible for your actions.. and therefore you face the punishment for any crime comitted..or the mistakes you make…oviously the sloots failed that one test BIGGTIME!!!

not everyone lives by the rules and principles… and not all american are the ideal parents like in any other country .. there are good parents and bad bad parents…for example the parents of joran now that is a bad sample… .. .. they created..a monster.
again I am not saying we are the perfect parents in america… and that our kids dont do wrong.. because in any society that is not realisticly so …

    114. Patti on June 8th, 2008 5:06 pm

The Bible says that the Devil and his demons will blind people of the truth. David, who slayed the giant, prayed that his eyes would shine, to see through the darkness… and he was the King of Israel!

      .

      Oduber:

If the King of Israel, who had already proven his faith in Jehovah, as a child; prays for guidance and direction, why can’t you?

Do you, really, think you’re sooo high and mighty that you can shield your sins from the eyes of God? Even David couldn’t do that, and he was in the linage of the Christ.

We prayed for a hero, and we found one. One that would sail the highest and most treacherous of seas to find the missing; and being humble, only gave his first name. This is not about being famous, it’s not about being the best; it’s about the power of prayer and the fight that each and every one of us, whether he be a King or a pauper, battles with by day and night…. and that is the battle between good and evil. God sees all… and is keeping an account.

On the other hand, he has made a provision for even the worst of us to be forgiven. How much greater is the man that is humble and prays for forgiveness, than the man that is a King who is reduced to eating the grass of the fields!

We all walk through the shadow of death, while the evil one walks the earth, like a lion, wanting to devour someone. And when it’s all said and done, whether you are a King or a pauper, we ALL fight the same battle.

I beg of you, denounce the wicked one who would have you persecuting Christians in the name of pagan gods who have neither the eyes to see nor a mouth to speak; and humble yourself before God. Admit to the wrong doing in Aruba, ask for forgiveness and change the downward spiral that has left your nation hungering for something better. Become a hero who would go to the center of the earth to help those in need…. and save your people.

      .

People, rely on the power of God to guide you, direct your steps through this treacherous terrain; and He will deliver you. Humble yourselves, admitting your faults; being reduced from a leader to a follower who dines, nightly, on crow; if you must. But, draw close to Jehovah and He will draw close to you.

      .

I pray for peace in the valley of Aruba and I leave it to God to judge the unrighteous.

      .

We ask for a hero, we pray for a hero and he doesn’t even make the front page. Perhaps we all need to humble ourselves before Him.

      .

      Miss Katie:

I love you with all my heart. Continue in your ways of patience and understanding, love and kindness. You are our friend. There is nothing wrong with boycotting the island. Even God, himself, prohibitted his people from associating with the Babylonians… How much greater his desire must be to save us from Babylon the Great!

      .

Stay out of Aruba, He would say… and so we say it to others, as a warning, and in an attempt to help those that will be saved from the Great Dragon who would devour them, if only he could.

      .

      Boycott Aruba!

      molly
he cant sit still and keep out of trouble Cant keep his pants up…. he appears hyper … he is in full party mode.. knowing this his parents continue to enable and support his life style.. isnt that pitiful..
what values have they instilled in him or the other two boys… what a pity…

      bad parenting skills…

I dont know how the mentality is in those third world countries… I guess in america our values are different…

not that we dont have crime here..

but what is in our favor is that with have a judicial system that is in place.

in our country the victims families have a right to face their accusers…

this was denied natalees parents and family…

in aruba the govt there is run by corrupt officials .. the benefits of a third world country to make and change the laws and rules .to suit them… they are easily paid to look the other way as in the case of natalee..
no decent code of ethics exist..

therefore leaving the tourist and aruban citizens at risk for anything….

THE ISLANDERS NEED TO TAKE THEIR ISLAND BACK:

but in order to do so they will have to form a plan.. and at this point I think there is so much fear of reteleation that the likely hood is slim to none…

      what a pity!!!

AA is not pulling out of Aruba. They have high ticket prices to this destination and certainly aren’t about to give up this revenue. The SJU hub is downsizing and many markets will lose service. Aruba is one of the cleanest, safest islands in the Carribbean. Not too many many islands where you can walk the streets at night and feel totally secure.
