American Airlines send warning to Aruba … guarantee our planes can land without any problems or we will cancel fights!!! A note to the Aruban judges, do you still think that the strike affecting the Reina Beatrix Aruban Airport and planes landing on Aruba isn’t that serious? It’s good to see that American Airlines take safety seriously and the tourist is actually considered in this process, unlike the present situation in Aruba. American Airlines is threatening to cancel flights to Aruba until they can guarantee the their passengers safety and that planes can land without incident.
American Airlines has threatened to cancel all her flight for this coming weekend. That’s what the American airline company has told Tourism-minister Edison Briesen, says Prime Minister Nelson Oduber (MEP). Management of American Airlines told Briesen in an e-mail that the company is concerned about the ‘unstable situation’ in Aruba. The company also requests a guarantee that the airplanes can land without any problems this coming weekend. “If we cannot give them this guarantee, they will cancel the flights, and that is a very serious matter”, said Oduber.
Once again we are presented with a situation where the concerns of Arubans take precedent over the safety of the passengers and tourists who butter Aruba’s bread. Define irony … Aruban public workers striking and in the process destroying the very economy that provides tax revenues to pay their salaries.

To make matters worse the cardinal sin of airports was broken when a false bomb threat was called in.

An investigation on who did it is still going.

Good to hear that American Airlines is concerned about the well being of it’s passengers. We see again that Aruban justice officials are not. It’s also good to see that some Arubans are joining in the boycott, in their own way.

Economic memo to Arubans: Tourism drives your engine. Tourism provides tax revenues. Tourism provides employment for your people. Tourism pays your government’s bills. Tourism allows you to pay your government employees.

Great news. An airline is telling Aruba that the island actually has responsibilities to live up to. Too bad that our government hasn’t taken the same stance in regards to Americans vanishing.
This article came out today. Do you remember the case of Natascha Kampusch, kidnapped in Austria at the age of 10 and held prisoner EIGHT years?
(Wouldn’t everyone have scoffed at the idea that she could still have been alive?)
It turns out that Austrian police officials gave DIRECT ORDERS not to investigate leads or evidence taken from the home of her abductor.
And friends of her captor, in newly discovered photographs, were found engaged in forced sexual activities with her.
Makes you wonder … but of course, we know that such things could not take place on Aruba, the “one safe, happy island.” And, of course, the fact that they DID take place in Austria does not suggest that they did happen in Aruba.
Still and all, one has to wonder … what is behind the enduring cover-up there?

Police ‘held back sex-slave photos’ found at Natascha Kampusch kidnap house
Photographs showing Natascha Kampusch being used as a sex slave by her kidnapper were hidden by Austrian police to avoid a political scandal, according to previously unreleased documents.
Ms Kampusch, who was kidnapped on her way to school when she was 10, was kept in a bunker beneath a house near Vienna by Wolfgang Priklopil for eight years before she escaped in August 2006. He committed suicide hours later.
Two months after her escape Stern, the respected German magazine, reported that police had found pictures that showed Ms Kampusch being sexually abused by friends of Priklopil, 44. The magazine said that she had been handcuffed and photographed for “cruel games”.
The discovery of documents is the first recorded corroboration of the report by Stern. The documents, which were obtained by Heute, the Austrian daily newspaper, outline how Austrian police were told not to investigate further any leads or material seized from the home of Priklopil.

They reveal that among the evidence, which police were ordered to destroy or hide, were photographs on two mini-DVDs that would have linked others with the abuse of Ms Kampusch.
Investigators were not allowed to view the pictures and consider charges against other people because senior politicians did not want a scandal before a general election, according to the documents.
The paperwork shows that Herwig Haidinger, then the chief of the Austrian criminal police, complained in an e-mail to the Interior Ministry that another senior police officer, Major-General Nikolaus Koch, had ordered the destruction of the evidence.
After Ms Kampusch escaped it was discovered that police had made mistakes during the search for her, including ignoring a statement from a police dog handler.
The statement, which included the address of Priklopil and a description of his character, was made on April 14, 1998, less than six weeks after Ms Kampusch was abducted. It was sent to the investigating officer but was apparently lost.
Mr Haidinger said that when he found the statement after Ms Kampusch escaped he wanted the dog handler to be questioned, but confirmed that he received direct instructions from the Interior Ministry not to proceed.
“We don’t need a police scandal prior to the parliamentary elections,” Mr Haidinger quoted officials from the ministry as saying.
Günther Platter, the conservative Interior Minister who came to power after the elections, called the claims “rumours and allegations”.
“Haidinger said that when he found the statement after Ms Kampusch escaped he wanted the dog handler to be questioned, but confirmed that he received direct instructions from the Interior Ministry not to proceed.

THE Austrian government is facing collapse after revelations of startling police incompetence and a ministerial cover-up in the case of Natascha Kampusch, the girl who was kidnapped at the age of 10 and held in a cellar for eight years.
Kampusch is in line for millions of pounds in compensation after it was disclosed that she could have been released after a few weeks in captivity in 1998 if police had followed early leads. She did not escape until August 2006.

We are starting to see the difference in how countries operate. Aruba does not plan ahead for anything. They just hope nothing happens. So whether they have 1 or 4 air traffic controllers its of no consequence. If an accident does not happen or a crime is not committed, they think its a good thing even though they have provided no safety measure.
Getting thru life by chance is hardly safe. Americans are not willing to deal with it. They will go elsewhere where crime may exist, at least there are measures in place to deal with the crime and prosecute those that are guilty.

If it is just about JUSTICE, then why are so many people here suggesting that all visitors of Aruba are in danger and that kidnappers, murderers and rapers are just waiting to attack a tourist and that people shouldn’t send their children to Aruba for spring break. In Aruba there is statstically less crime than big cities around the globe.
And Katablog, just because the case with Natalee has been screwed up by the officials, doesn’t mean that this would happen again in the future.
I doubt that should this have happened to an Aruban or Dutch girl, you would have called for a boycott or even changed your vacation destination.

We get a few airheads on here who keep writing about crime in the USA and percentage this or that, but I wonder how many Arubans have had someone go missing in the USA. And of those, how many were lied to, misled, and had all evidence lost or destroyed by our police and government? Do any of you airheads have any data on that? I for one think that much of Joran’s “confession” was a lie … Joran has been lying from day one.
If you look at photos of him, he seems to have gone way downhill over the last three years as well. That’s a purely subjective impression, of course … but I wouldn’t be surprised if he is losing his marbles to some degree. Not that he had many to begin with.
On an earlier thread, I posted a story about an international child porn ring called the Blue Orchid Wonderland project. Looks like there’s another one that’s been broken up; article is at the end of this post.
Why put it here? I keep thinking about Freddy’s penchant for child porn (wasn’t he the stayover guest at Joran’s apartment that night?); the fact that PvdScum took down Joran’s Web site, which was used by the “Pimps,” after his arrest (quite an ethical action for a lawyer and wannabe judge … how do you spell destruction of evidence?); and above all, PvdScum’s trip to Florida some months after Natalee vanished.
He said that he went there because he had to tell Joran’s school that he wouldn’t be going after all. That reason makes no sense at all to me. A letter, phone call, or e-mail would do the job just as well.
Maybe I’m trying to fit together pieces of the puzzle that don’t go together. But I keep thinking that there must be SOME reason why the cover-up in Aruba has gone on so long, even after factoring in police incompetence.

BOISE — A Boise man pleaded guilty today to being involved in a vast global child porn trafficking ring.
The U.S. Department of Justice says Warren Weber, 56, was one of 14 alleged members of the enterprise who were charged in a 40-count indictment last month.
Weber has pleaded guilty to five criminal counts as part of the group. They include engaging in a child exploitation enterprise; conspiracy to advertise, transport, ship, receive and possess child pornography; advertising child pornography; transporting child pornography; and receiving child pornography.
His case represents one of the first convictions under a new child explotation law passed July 2006.
Weber admitted to participating in a highly-sophisticated and well-organized crime ring whose purpose was to proliferate child sex abuse images to its members over via the Internet a two-year period.
Group members used sophisticated encryption methods to avoid detection and traded more than 400,000 images and videos of child sexual abuse before being dismantled by law enforcement.
The remaining defendants are schedule to go on trial in Florida this June.
Weber faces a minimum prison sentence of 20 years and a maximum of life imprisonment. He will be sentenced on June 24, 2008.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

#67 Amsterdam I may not “know” all what happened to Natalee that night and or who all was involved. However, in my opinion, based on all everything that has been said and ALL of the lies that have been told…not only by Joran, I feel it is extremely obvious Natalee was drugged, raped and murdered and ALL crimes against her have been covered up. I think she was still alive (barely alive) when Natalee’s mom arrived. I think she was alive when Natalee’s mom was at the Vandersloot compound and that is why Paulus was sweating a river. I don’t think they knew how bad off Natalee was. That is why they were looking up alcohol and drug overdose info on the internet that night…and kept telling the dad to go have a drink because she may show up. I think she eventually died and they needed to get rid of her body. I think Paulus did just that…he paid someone to do it…”your own father…unbelievable.” It was at that point, the cover up began and has continued.
I pray for justice for Natalee, her family and her friends. As I said earlier. They have no idea how lucky that are that I am not Natalee’s mom.

where crime is investigated very thoroughly… we have the finest investigators and judges.lawyers…. our legal system has high standards of ethics and moral obligation to do their best to ensure that justice is served.
