Another war on drug report from Aruba and “One Happy Island” and its continued drug smuggling and its related money laundering practices and criminal violence. Why is it that Aruba will supposedly cooperate with American, Dutch and Antillean governments when it comes to the “war of drugs” and money laundering but not when it comes to missing persons and crimes against tourists like in the case of Natalee Holloway?
According to American justice, drug smuggling and its related money laundering practices and criminal violence continue to be a threat for Aruba and the Neth.Antilles.
Extending the Judicial cooperation between the American, Dutch, Antillean, and Aruban governments can contribute to lowering that threat on the islands and also to a broader joint fight against the drug criminality in the Caribbean.

A huge amount of cocaine was intercepted on sea in February of 2007. One huge catch can influence the statistics, but is not necessarily an indication for a certain tendency.
ORANJESTAD – Aruba functions to an increasing extent as a transshipment location for drugs that find their way via airplane or cruise ship to the United States and to a smaller extent, to Europe, states the International Narcotics Control Strategy Report for 2007 of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the American State Department that was published last Saturday.
Aruba was only mentioned as transshipment location in the 2006 report. According to the Bureau’s available data in the first 10 months of 2007, 390 kilo cocaine and 10 kilo heroine was intercepted.
The 2005 report also mentioned the interception of marihuana and XTC-pills, but these are no longer mentioned in the 2006 and 2007 report. An increasing use of xtc by the youth is observed in entertainment places. The production of narcotics in Aruba is not enough to be mentioned in the report. According to the 2007 report, the Aruban government is pursuing a ‘dynamic anti-drug policy’, in close cooperation with her regional and international partners.
Aruban justice has arrested and convicted a number of middlemen that delivered drugs to couriers. The report doesn’t mention details or numbers. Neither does the report mention the number of American citizens that tried to smuggle kilograms of drugs to the United States.
The 2006 and 2007 reports vaguely mentioned the expansion of the facilities for the Forward Operating Location (FOL) to use at the airport. The FOL tries to locate drug transportation from the air with airplanes of the American Air Force and Customs Department. The 2007 report doesn’t even mention that expansion or that it still exists.

Why doesn’t Aruba remove the drug lords from the top of hill…the place where no one is allow to go. Shut down the helicopter landing pads, for beginners. Those that could do something about this won’t.

I have to say that something doesn’t smell right to me about these claims of Patrick.
IF I understand correctly what is being said I haven’t seen the YouTube segments, but got a quick ‘briefing’ from someone who has), some three years after “the event,” this guy suddenly is demanding a payoff from Joran?
And Joran is telling this guy who he happened to meet that he needs some cash to pay him off?
It is at least as possible that Joran, having begun to tell Patrick his story, now is trying to con money off of him. That’s my suspicion.
Why would someone who has been quiet about his role for three years suddenly start raising a stink?
And even more … if Patrick got the info from Joran back in January, why in hell didn’t he pass this on to law enforcement already? (Assuming that he hasn’t.)
All I have is a little bit of information about this claim … but I wonder about it. Let’s hope that we find out something more soon. This could be a big deal … or might be just another in the countless false leads we’ve seen.
As for the topic of this thread, I’ve long suspected that the people (or animals, take your pick) who run Aruba find it very convenient to cooperate with our DEA … that way, they can make sure that the Americans apprehend their rival drug dealers, the “other guys,” all the while giving red-carpet treatment to their own.
From whom they profit handsomely, I’m sure.
And I suspect that a certain van der Scum family are among those cashing in.
Makes a lot of sense to me … use the Americans to clean up your rivals, get them tossed in jail, making it easier for your “home team.”

After an interview witrh a local TV station Patrick said a few interesting things.

The interview will be on air this evening on the Aruban TV. Patrick is back in the netherlands and was not available for an interview.

I don’t think Patrick was holding out on Peter. They both know a lot more then what’s on those videos. Daury was located and question so that rules him out. Joran didn’t have time to run up and down the beach trying to find someone with a boat that he could trust, he already knew who had the boat and who he could call for help. Paulus, Koen, Sander and Freddy. Those are 4 people who wouldn’t tell. What I would like to know is where was the beach patrol when all this was going on. And what about cell phone records….we never got a report on that. Just real suspicious that Sander lost his cell phone that night.

I was thinking earlier today where does Joran get his money? If he has ever worked I havent heard about it. Also, it seems 2k would be easy for him to have..I mean think about it—how can a person live, not work, afford to be an alcoholic, drug addict, and have an addiction to gambling with no money?? The issue that concerns this board is not the character of Patrick. As Geraldo Rivera said, usually informants aren’t perfect human beings.
Let’s not be diverted from our concern, though.
Patrick and deVries captured Joran giving the same story in a series of tapes … something that completely erases his earlier statements about not knowing what happened to Natalee.
He said that he helped an accomplice/accomplices put her body in a boat. That makes him a witness as well as a suspect. We’re told that under Dutch law, suspects can lie but witnesses cannot.
Of course, it’s the Aruban interpretation of Dutch law that counts. And we’ve seen for the last three years what THAT is.
A complete, brazen, and still-continuing cover-up as the Caribbean judges mumble to themselves.
There’s no excuse for not supporting a boycott of Aruba. Some people in St. Louis will be demonstrating for that this weekend.
