Aruba, “One Happy Island:” Justice Minister Rudy Croes Blasts director Myrna Jansen of Aruba Tourism Authority

One Happy Island, huh. Can’t we all just get along? Not on Aruba and not when the private tourism sector is in direct Rudy_Croesconflict with government denial. What is the Aruban government and Justice minister Rudy Croes afraid of, the truth?

Croes says that the report states that criminality in Aruba has negative consequences for the tourism.  He called this nonsense.

Nonsense? Actual Minister Croes “nonsense” would be the continued denial on your and Aruba’s part that crime does exist and that it has a direct impact on why your tourism is in the tank. STOP LYING TO PEOPLE! Maybe we should take a look at the crime and murder on Aruba. You would attack someone within the Aruban tourism sector for speaking the truth. The ATA witnesses the destruction of Aruba’s tourism on a monthly basis. Maybe Minister Croes would like to offer an answer as to the plight of Aruba’s tourism.

The minister says that these kinds of assumptions hurt Aruba, while from the figures it actually appears that the criminality has dropped, considering the enormous increase of the population and compared with other countries.

It is not the assumption that hurts Aruba, its the reality. Earth to Rudy Croes … Natalee Holloway was not an assumption. The manner in how suspects confessed and then somehow did not confess is not an assumption. The method in how the ALE pathetically investigated Natalee’s disappearance was not an assumption. The fact that Aruba has three suspects that they refuse to prosecute is not an assumption.

Aruba in fact has two strikes against it as opposed to other Caribbean islands. Most people deem these places as not safe; however, in Aruba post-Natalee Holloway tourists realize that any crime that happens to them will be swept up under the carpet to protect tourism and those responsible with friends in high places.

Aruba, your tourism has fallen ever since the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in May 2005. While the rest of the Caribbean sees increases, you are in the red and at best break even these days. Why do you think that is? Beth Twitty, Natalee Holloway’s mom, goes from high school to college to public speaking event discussing International safe travels. She is a one woman wrecking crew and Aruba is the face of crime, corruption and missing persons on an international stage.

Justice Minister Rudy Croes, Aruba’s problem is no assumption … its a reality.

Amigoe, March 7, 2007: Justice-minister reprimands tourist bureau

ORANJESTAD – Regarding a report of ATA on tourism, Justice-minister Rudy Croes (MEP) lashed out at director Myrna Jansen of Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) during a press conference yesterday.  Croes says that the report states that criminality in Aruba has negative consequences for the tourism.  He called this nonsense.

“I hereby have a message for the ATA-director.  She must not make assumptions just like that and check the figures first; figures that the ministry and the Public Prosecutor have.”  The minister says that these kinds of assumptions hurt Aruba, while from the figures it actually appears that the criminality has dropped, considering the enormous increase of the population and compared with other countries.  Only car theft and joyriding have increased, says the minister.  “We just had a very successful Caribbean Marketplace, during which there was not one incident”, said Croes.

Rudy’s right: if there’s no body, there’s no crime. Surely you don’t expect someone to suspect murder and rape just because someone confessed and was going to lead police to the body! The fact that Natalee Holloway was last seen with three boys, one who has a record of anger problems and two that lie because everyone does, and she then disappears from the face of the earth – why on earth would anyone suspect this might be due to a crime being committed?

Yeah, Aruba’s really safe. The only increase in crime is theft. Big deal. What’s the problem with a few thugs (oh, I mean kids) have a little fun at the expense of a few victims?

So it appears there are two sets of figures. That would be the real crime figures and the cooked crime figures.

Rudy Croes: “I hereby have a message for the ATA-director. She must not make assumptions just like that and check the figures first; figures that the ministry and the Public Prosecutor have.”

Aruba trashed its credibility during the Natalee Holloway “farce” of an investigation. We watched Aruban spokesperson
after spokesperson go on the news and lie to our faces on
tv. Arlene Schippers is a BIG ONE that immediately comes to

Ya see, even if you don’t believe that the MURDEROUS /GANGRAPING VAN DER SLOOT AND KALPOE criminals actually murdered Natalee…

There’s no denying the fact that she was last seen with these rapists, and shortly thereafter they can not match their stories. Each suspect has consistently tried
to lie his way out of being there at the scene. They
have lied 22+ times (this includes – 4 MAJOR changes
that basically paints a whole new picture of what happened that night)

People who are innocent usually do not lie. I mean, think about it… why would you risk a lie, if you had done nothing to harm Natalee? You wouldn’t, you would not risk that if you were innocent. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you lied to police in a murder investigation, the cops will be all over you like flies on stuff. A person with even basic intelligence would not do something so stupid. There’s no payoff, it is not worth the risk.

There is no denying the fact that Joran raped her. He even admits it in police statements. He tells the story to his mother, who then turns around and parrots that story to Greta Van Sustren and Beth Twitty. In the CREEPIEST OF CREEPY stories Anita Van der Sloot (mother of Joran Van der Sloot – The Rapist) describes in great detail the color and floral designs on Natalee Holloway’s UNDERWEAR! Joran admits
to molesting her as she passes out over and over again.

Having sex with someone who is not awake
and cannot defend themselves – that is RAPE. What Joran
Van der Sloot did met the legal requirements of RAPE
to go to prison in Aruba.

Yet, he is still not in prison.

Joran The Rapist and his father The Pig also did everything
they could to derail the Natalee Holloway investigation
with each step. (Kalpoes too) In statement after statement J2K say they were lying, they were lying to make the investigation more difficult. What J2K and the Pig Slop of a father did was called OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE under Aruban Law.

Arlene told everyone that on a television interview. She
said OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE was very much against the law
and that one could infact go to jail for trying to derail
an ongoing police investigation. In the 9/2006 CURRENT AFFAIR INTERVIEW Joran says Lying and Obstruction of Justice are not against the law.

He is quite wrong in that assessment.

Obstruction is very illegal. Yet, the ALE will not even throw them in jail FOR THAT!

      Which is REALLY incredible!

I’m sure Joran, Paulus, Deepak, and Kalpoes are walking
around with big red bullseyes on their shirts
today. That’s probably for the better. IMO
      (Especially when someone decides to
“bone up” on their skills a bit)

I think if Aruba refuses to pick
up their trash, there will be someone “waiting
in the wings” to push forth and do what
they’ve refused to do since 2005.

Carpe what is really incredible is the fact that the Aruban Police let Joran and the 2Kalpoe’s lie and lie and lie and they don’t do a thing about it!!

So the message they send is if you rape or murder someone,
and give us enough phony stories on your whereabouts and what happened while you were with the person who was murdered,

“we will let you walk”…because our heads get so confused
when we have to think about several storyline options” that you give to us and we cannot see the forest through the trees when this happens, So, we are watching you but are all released now, since we did not get enough confessions from you!

Aruban Police you are disgusting! And if there are two cops that are not involved in the coverup, you will also remain part of Natalie’s murdering group BY REMAINING SILENT, UNLESS YOU COME CLEAN!

what a wonderful place to visit, if you’re a criminal. no body, no crime. confess today, recant tomorrow, no problem. can’t talk a tourist out of filing a complaint?, wait 4 days till he leaves, then tear it up. can’t hide the body? it was either a suicide or a tourist that was having too much for so it’s his/her fault. the list goes on and on.

You bet your lucky charms…Rudy….the Murder of Natalee Holloway is affecting the beaches being empty.

This is not an assumption, Rudy it is a bonafide fact. The statements say so. Remember Joran was leading the ALE to the body, when he confessed?

You cannot perfume your pigs anymore….The truth is out and ppl know what Aruba did to Natalee Holloway. Aruba is paying the price for the cover up of the ppl involved and Aruba what was so hideous that you had to cover this case up, who was involved up to their lucky charms?

BTW are there any barbers in Aruba, Rudy?

Thanks, Rudy Croes! What a swell guy you are! You and the Aruba Tourism Authority together … hope I get to use ATA’s own assessment of the Aruban situation in Boston!

Maybe that’s why we’re being lambasted so diligently on certain of the “hate blogs” … they could be running scared. Let’s spread the message and hit them hard.

(“Hit them hard,” hate bloggers, is metaphorical. We don’t plan to use violence in Boston … unlike the Arubans in their country.)

According to Rudy Croes … Beth Twitty needs to be “shut up”.
      September 30, 2005
According to Justice-minister Rudy Croes (MEP), there is not much that can be done against Twitty’s attitude. He says that declaring her as persona non grata is no option. The American media would blow that up and it can fire back at us.
She is back in all sorts of programs where she calls upon Americans to avoid Aruba as vacation destination. “I can’t understand her attitude. We did everything possible to find her daughter”, said Croes. He hopes of course that one day the teenager will show up, but he said that badmouthing would definitely not contribute to that.
Many Aruban people are very angry with Twitty and are afraid that her constant appeals against Aruba would have a negative effect on the tourism. Even though this does not reflect in the figures, the government does keep a finger on the pulse. Croes does not consider taking measures against Twitty yet, but does not rule out the possibility to shut her up in the future. The Dutch government was asked to diplomatically support Aruba in this matter.

According to the former chief of police in the Natalee Holloway investigation … if you confess to a felony in your official suspect statements and … then retract the confession … the judge releases you. COSBY: Let me go to the chief because I want to bring also both of you to be able to ask questions. Chief, did any of these men-if we can show the picture of the three of them-this is Joran and both Kalpoe brothers. Did any of these three ever admit to having sex with Natalee to authorities at any point, Chief?

DOMPIG: No, they did not. They keep denying it, and they only went so far as to say that they fondled sexually. At least, Joran did that, and the others denied everything.

COSBY: Now, did Joran-we’ve heard from the family, Chief, that-you know, that Joran was claiming in some statement that she was going in and out of consciousness. Have you seen that anywhere?

DOMPIG: Yes. THAT’S DEFINITELY IN THE STATEMENTS, and that’s why we were kind of disappointed when the judge didn’t accept that BECAUSE THAT’S BASICALLY A FELONY IN ARUBA in Aruba. We think that what happened was that the judge just didn’t buy it the way-because Joran went back and forth with his statements, and he withdrew two statements which he had already given to us. So basically, none of his statements were really trustworthy.

#3 Dayhiker: Standard procedure for organized crime. Two sets of books. Two sets of records.

I suggest Mr. Rudy Croes read the murder and crime thread on the Scared Monkeys forum. Red provides a link above.

Aside from police, judicial and government corruption, something The Netherlands found that Aruba has no law against, Anita sat with a Fox News reporter and defended and lied about her own son and ended the interview asking why Natalee would get into the car with three boys. This seems to be the attitude in Aruba. They are not wrong and shouldn’t be held accountable for their actions. It’s the American tourists who make mistakes, are easy, are stupid, arrogant, or in some way deserve it. Seems to be part of the culture. I don’t care how high or low their crime stats are, that attitude tells me you won’t get any help from their legal system if you need it.

Why is it that Americans disappear in Dutch islands, while other nationalities have accidents or are found dead on the beach?

      Dompig in 2006

      48 Hours 3/25/06:
Twitty claims that Joran was clear with the police about one thing – that he had sex with her daughter the night she disappeared.

“I had access to several statements, and in one of Joran’s statements he’s describing Natalie as she’s falling asleep and waking up, falling asleep and waking up repeatedly. And, as she’s doing this, he is explaining, he’s very sexually explicit, graphically detailing what he is doing to Natalie. OK?” Twitty said.

Twitty and her attorney would not share those documents with 48 Hours. In spite of her claim, Dompig says there is no proof of sexual assault.

Asked if Joran van der Sloot ever confessed to being sexually intimate with Natalee, Dompig says he never did.

“Believe me, we were looking for anything to throw him, to keep him in jail,” says Dompig. “The only thing he admitted to was that he was fondling [her] sexually, like kissing, touching her. And there was no sexual in terms of penetration or whatever, really having sex with her.”

      Hey Richard!

I bought 400 stickers and divided them between 12 places in two states & left them all. It cost about $250.00 and when they heard the stickers were for Natalee gave a discount. I don’t have any left but i was so thankful when that clerk pulled out a BIG jar, wrapped a sticker arround it & put 5 bucks in it to start. I was troubled that i couldn’t leave more stickers at each station and they saw that and wanted to help, especially the truckstop who brought out the jar. I got alittle emotional as i do here sometimes from all of you who won’t let go. I left with the biggest smile!

Thank you everyone. Maybe they should get a copy of every insult made about Natalee and her family. He or she can take their diary with all the threats about the suspects. That is not the issue at hand. The issue is that an American girl named Natalee Holloway went to Aruba, to celebrate her grad.. Natalee has not been seen since then. Everyone knows who she was with when last seen. But, one dirty island would rather forget about Natalee. The issue is to warn other tourists, that if you go to Aruba, and you disappear…do not expect the island to care. The #1 priority on One Crappy Island, is to get your money, Period.

Carpe – On #33, we agree about Dompig.

But here’s something interesting from Holloway/Twitty’s own attorney (in ’05) on 4/19/06 on the The Abrams Report:
ABRAMS: Let me bring in Clint Van Zandt, former FBI profiler, and Aruban attorney who once represented Natalee’s family in Aruba, Vinda de Sousa. Vinda, let me ask you, do you know exactly upon exactly what Beth bases her statement that Joran admitted to sexual assaulting Natalee?

VINDA DE SOUSA, ARUBAN ATTORNEY (via phone): Well, I don’t think that you could say that he admitted sexually assaulting Natalee. He admitted to having-that it was consensual…

      ABRAMS: She says he admitted…

DE SOUSA: … and you know…

ABRAMS: She says he admitted repeatedly to sexually assaulting.

DE SOUSA: That’s not what I understand.

SM:   And we believe that because Joran said it was consensual? I don’t think so. (klaasend)

In response to your post a few days back. Why didn’t the authorities just burn these three punks (or something like that)?

You said that it must go a lot deeper than what meets the eye. You know, you have something there. It seems that they (powers that be on Aruba) should have just thrown the trio to the sharks (no pun intended). And you know what? It really appeared that that is just what they intended to do until on or about June 10, 2005. What happen?

What happen—I don’t know. It’s a mystery. Blackmail I would suspect, but by who and to whom? Had to be someone with some real power, but who? Maybe they are hiding a human smuggling ring; maybe that is what Paulus used as blackmail against someone with real power to keep Jr. out of trouble.

    40. Janet on March 7th, 2007 8:05 pm

I can only assume that the “powers that be” within the Aruban investigation into the disappearance of an eighteen year old American citizen had assurance that Joran’s official suspect statements would never be publicly released. What other reason would there be for Jan Van Straaten to have outright lied to an anquished step-father. There has to be a day of reckoning for the H— that Aruba has put the family of Natalee Holloway through.

You know, I asked a question about, I understand that there was a statement made by Joran, where he talks about what he had done to Natalee and he described in very graphic detail, like, the stitching and embroidery and everything on Natalee`s underwear. And he (Jan Van Straaten) goes, Oh, no, no, no. Absolutely not. Absolutely not. Well, little did he know I had just read the statements where Joran describes that to the “T,” you know, two days before. But of course, I didn`t tell him that. Here we go with the “mutilated bodies” again.

mayan & carpe – guess what Jossy Mansur said about the rock painting (remember jossy, the guy that has god-like status at sm):
Jossy: Rock painting – he instructed reporters to go out and find out about. Video was body of 7 year old boy buried there a year ago. Not identified, but belongs to a Columbian family who did not want to come forward – illegal, not money. One person in rock painting video is from Visibility Team (do not know name), and one with the technical dept of the police dept. Rock painting was to mark the spots. Part of body missing and they were to come back and search.

(posted by a wierdo named easywriter but apparently, according to sm, he’s tight with Mr. Mansur. This was sourced from the forum.)

You’re not doubting Jossy now, are you? Jossy says no “mutilated bodies”/killing field, mayan/carpe says yes. Who do we believe?

    43. Carpe Noctem on March 7th, 2007 10:25 pm

Jossy is a good man, or a great one even… but he is not god like to me. I think the reason most people like him so much in the US… is because here was a guy that actually
helped & did something. That really makes a difference
on an island chock full of hoods, psychopaths, and habitual liars. Finding someone who cared like Jossy, is much like stumbling across an oasis in the desert!

The body parts piled together with a shark’s head are
too big to be from a dead Columbian child. People who
have been dead for one whole year, do not have what
looks to be fresh blood oozing from their temples.

      The features don’t look right.

      Who paints dirt?

The other guys that were there came from Holland.
Jaan VDS sent for them & he wouldn’t disclose their
purpose for being there. All he would confirm is that
they were on the island & they would be assisting
      in the NAH investigation.

      The scene doesn’t add up.

      Boycott Aruba

    44. Patti on March 7th, 2007 11:06 pm

      Yo Yo:

Don’t be rediculous! He reports what he’s told. He sent a reporter out to ask about the video, and that’s the story that he got.

Does it not concern you that there are 7-year old boys that are murdered, mutilated and buried in Aruba? Perhaps there was the body of a seven year old boy that was among the numerous heads and bodies at the rocks. As far as why the family didn’t report him missing or claim his body, that is equally alarming.

You have visited this site long enough to know about the topics that are discussed. Do you think that there is such a thing as human trafficking? Do you think that people sell their own family members into prostitution for the right to move to another place, make a new start in a new country, away from the many woes that countries like Columbia have to offer? You are aware of the fact that people, many of them children, are forced to live out a short life tending to the cocoa fields there, aren’t you?

What do you think of this modern-day slavery that has effected, literally, hundreds of thousands of people in Central and South America? Do you think it odd that Natalee may have been laid to rest among one of them?

    45. kitty on March 7th, 2007 11:10 pm

I was at the local gym working out, yesterday, when I saw this ridiculous ad for Aruba Tourism…”One Happy Island”… Owning a business and marketing for my own, I was aghast at this ad campaign.

Question: Who’s happy there? Merchants aren’t… the hotels that are empty, they aren’t happy…the residents, are they happy? They are probably sickened by all this, for a myraid of reasons ~

Are the Van DerSloots happy? Are the Kapole brothers, happy? their families, are the investigators, happy?

I personally, will never visit Aruba.

The only happy ones there, are the ones who got away with murder. (they still have to answer to God) ~

Tourism is affected greatly, due to one violent act of those who killed Natalee Holloway. They have not taken responsibility and those around who know truth, are cowards, for not coming forward, and having this murder solved.

The Holloway family, has suffered even more than that of all the inhabitants on Aruba ~ or the possible earned income from this tradgedy ~ yes, this one act ~ that has affected tourism there… however, all the money in the entire world, can not bring back their daughter… that is tragic. I’m so sorry, that that could not be true.

The Holloway’s have lost their daughter. Aruba,it’s soul & it’s income.

What is more valuable? I’d say, a life is priceless.

The sins of a few, have disrupted so many lives… murdering this young beautiful girl, has changed this girls family forever…their loss suffered, pales to the income earnings that Aruba could acrue…

Sadly, this Island, will never be the same and if this is what it is taking to get the attention of Aruba, to do something, by boycotting the Island ~ then so be it.

Our country, has boycotted Nations, when they do wrong… unfortunately, your entire country, is suffering, because of the murderous act of a few ~ put the pressure on, your own ~ Aruba ~ on your own countrymen ~ put your money efforts on that, rather than on your current tourism marketing campaign. (it is pathetic).

When we all get answers, and when Natalee is found, and returned to her family, resting in peace ~ then your Island will again flourish…

Why your own countrymen, are not furious with how this investigation has been handled, and how these men, flagrantly fling their arrogance in the face of your country, including the father of Joran, is just a disgrace ~ and an embarrassment. Why has the elder Van DerSloot’s home, or property been allowed to be entered ~ they are being protected.

Make them talk ~ make them pay… they know more than they are telling and your entire country is suffering for the murderous acts of a few… haven’t you all had enough?

I feel badly for Natalee’s parents and her friends and family. Natalee is the true victim here… her parents, are also true victims here, not Aruba. It pales, to what this family has endured, truly.

Put your money toward getting answers and having closure in this case, not a pathetic ad campaign, “One Happy Island”… whoever thought that ridiculous slogan up, is not dealing with reality ~ it was laughable and really sad.

It’s “One Tarnished Island” ~ “One Sad Island”, anything, but happy. No one is Happy about Natalee being murdered.

Facts. Now, we want answers. This family has been patient enough. Let them have closure ~ put your resources in giving this family peace, and closure.

Boycott Aruba, I couldn’t agree more.

      Yo Yo:

Don’t you find it odd that the official word was that one of the suspects had confessed and they were supposed to be recovering the body of Natalee Holloway?

We were all just wondering what happened, that would make them back off of their statements? Do you think it had anything to do with the fact that Nelson Oduber had just arrived back on the island? Or do you think that it had more to do with all that stuff they found there?

Makes you kinda wonder if Oduber shut everything down because there may have been some things there that were either embarrassing or, in some other way, bad for the island. I mean, I could see maybe one false report; but there were many reports, some of them actually confirming that Natalee had been found.

Why did everything, including the confession, just up and disappear like that?

Don’t you find that, atleast, a little odd?

    60. Patti on March 8th, 2007 1:43 am

Oh… and please, just one more question:

What did Joran do to that little boy?

Mayan Moons (#30) — Did you get those bumper stickers from Michelle, or did you make them up, or what? I think it would be good for us to have some. I’ve got some mini-placards in the back windows of my car; I think they draw more attention than bumper stickers, and they have Natalee’s picture. That’s the most important visual element, I think.

I called Boston yesterday, and they acknowledged receipt of the request for a “protest” permit. Rather than call it a protest or a demonstration, maybe I should have called it a vigil. Anyway, they said I’ll be getting a decision soon, but not this week. (Today is March 8; only two weeks to go.)

I wonder if the “hate sites” people really have been fabricating Internet posts about threats, etc. Anyone who reads here, or on other forums, will note that we do not plan to violate any laws, and will keep things quiet and respectful. Our goal is not to yell, but to persuade … show people the evidence, and then ask them to decide if Aruba is a good place to go.

If we convince one person who might have gone to Aruba not to do so, then I’ll call it a success.

Jerry/Waterboy (#39), I didn’t say the three should be burned, but either the incompetence on Aruba is as incredible as it seems or there is something at work that makes these people unable to do the simplest things.

Clearly it would be in the economic and “moral” interest of Aruba to solve the crime. The suspects are evident … at least, those of whom we know. Something must be lurking in the background that is inhibiting any kind of action.

I’ll say again … accidental deaths, and murders, happen in many places. If nothing more than this were at work here, Aruba must have known that it could have done the right thing from day one. Nobody would think there was more to it than just another tragedy.

So why didn’t they? Is this whole charade to protect just these three punks and a failed wannabe judge? Van Der Sloot didn’t even get the judgeship he wanted; that may well have been because of his notoriety, but it also shows that he’s not so powerful as all that.

Who else is being protected, and why?

I can think of two main possibilities: drug traffickers linked with powerful government figures (and those not on the inside probably have their suspicions) and human trafficking. The two often are found together.

Americans can understand an accidental death, even murder, as long as prosecution and punishment follows. What would happen to Aruba’s economy if it became known that an American girl was taken for white slavery (as is thought to be what happened to Amy Bradley)? What chance would their tourist economy have then? What money-laundering casino would get tourist business?

Needless to say, these questions are not relevant to the Boston event. We will be there not to propose answers, but to demand them.

No justice for Natalee? No tourists for Aruba.

    64. vicki on March 8th, 2007 8:54 am

#21janet… you may have found out a clue. Croes says that he hopes the teenage will show up someday, but BADMOUTHING wont contribute to that? Is he saying that if Beth hadnt been so loud, someone would have returned Natalee?

Patti – remember the Sago mine disaster? Ever watch Three’s Company? There’s your explanation.

    67. Janet on March 8th, 2007 11:23 am

      66. yoyo muffintop – Re: Sago Mine Disaster
I contend that the misinformation that was UNOFFICIALLY leaked in the West Virginia disasters does not parallel the so-called misinformation that was OFFICIALLY released regarding the admission by one of the suspects in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.
Regarding the mine disaster misinformation … In an OFFICIAL press conference the very next day, Ben Hatfield, CEO of the mine, provided an explanation.
The chain of command that was established:
      1. All info would be confirmed.
      2. The families at the church would be OFFICIALLY informed
      3. The media would be OFFICIALLY informed.
The chain of command was broken when:
      1. The information from the rescuers was misinterpreted.
      2. The unconfirmed info was UNOFFICIALLY provided to some family members at the church through their cell phone by excited employees at the command center.
      3. The media who were camped outside the church were UNOFFICIALLY provided the unconfirmed info by excited families.
In other words, there was never an OFFICIAL statement provided to the families that the miners were located alive. There was never an OFFICIAL statement provided to the media that the miners were located alive.
Regarding the misinformation encompassing the media statements of June 10, 2005 … two OFFICIAL spokesperson … one from the Aruban Ministry of Justice and one from the Aruban Law Enforcement … provided major media outlets (AP and FOX) with statements which claimed:
      1. Natalee was confirmed dead.
      2. The location of Natalee’s body was known to authorities.
      3. One of the suspects made an admission the “something bad happened”
      4. The suspect who made the admission was leading authorities to the scene.
Unlike Ben Hatfield, the “powers that be” in Aruba had no public explanation regarding how they were “victims of a misinformation compaign”.
      ‘Scarborough Country’
      July 12, 2005
PAUL REYNOLDS, UNCLE OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY: i know that my sister had a meeting with the FBI June 10, Friday. And from that meeting, she became convinced that Natalee was no longer alive. She called her mother and told her that. And our family was-was-began the grieving process. You know, we were told the report would come out the next day. Later that night, we saw the reports that confessions had been made, that something bad had happened. Shortly thereafter, it was retracted. The next morning, there was a report that said Natalee was confirmed dead. And these reports came from the deputy commissioner. They came from the spokesperson from the Ministry of Justice.

    68. Richard on March 8th, 2007 11:36 am

Vicki (#64) Your comment brings to mind an alternate idea I had; to wit, that the Pimps or whoever had the idea of trying to traffick Natalee, thinking nobody would do anything more than rely on the Aruban system to do the proper thing. And we all know what comes of that.

But later on, when they realized that nobody would dare take Natalee because the publicity made it too much of a risk, they decided there was only one option left. And they made it happen.

Needless to say, this is not something anyone would want to think about. And in any case, the blame is fully and absolutely on the three suspects, their fellow Pimps and anyone else who may be involved, whether by action, inaction, or simply by not coming forth and saying what they knew.

    69. Janet on March 8th, 2007 11:41 am
…. just before midnight, reports spread quickly that all twelve of the remaining had also been found alive, but these reports were false. International Coal Group CEO Ben Hatfield confirmed that there was only one survivor, Randal McCloy Jr.,[6] approximately three hours after reports first surfaced of 12 survivors. THIS WAS THE FIRST OFFICIAL REPORT FROM THE COMPANY SINCE THE VICTIMS WERE FOUND.

RIU to open a Palace hotel on the island of Aruba
The RIU chain will be inaugurating its 5-star Palace hotel on the Caribbean island of Aruba in July ’07, after completely reforming and modernising the resort it acquired two years ago.The establishment is the product of the complete transformation of a resort acquired two years ago on one of the Caribbean’s finest beaches. The new 450-room resort will be called Riu Palace Aruba.

The island of Aruba is only 24 kilometres off the coast of Venezuela. Riu Palace Aruba is located right on the seafront in Palm Beach, considered one of the Caribbean’s most spectacular beaches, ideal for mid-depth scuba diving and snorkelling.

RIU’s new resort will have two buildings, one with 10 storeys and the other with 8, just 10 kilometres from the airport.

The establishment will offer a wide array of culinary options that includes theme restaurants featuring international specialities, local cuisine, grill/steakhouse, gourmet restaurant, Japanese cuisine and Italian cuisine, as well as a number of bars with different atmospheres.

The resort boasts a range of outdoor activities and sport, gymnasium, sauna, daytime entertainment programme for adults, live music and admission to the casino.

RIU has a total of 13,380 rooms in 29 Caribbean establishments, distributed as follows: 9 in the Dominican Republic, 1 in Florida, 2 in Cuba, 12 in Mexico, 3 in Jamaica, 1 in the Bahamas and the Riu Palace Aruba mentioned above.

The chain began operating in the Caribbean in 1991 with the inauguration of the
Riu Taíno in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic).

the worst part of aruba’s public relations problem, other than the island trying vainly to destroy natalee and her family’s reputation in an attempt to cover their own crime and criminal problems, is that they do not tell tourists about things that can be harmful to their health and safety. to be succinct, did any tourist ever get warned about the dengue fever outbreak last year? not one time did i see or hear anything about the dangers involved for unaware tourists except for reports from the health minister aimed at the residents. this is just one of many things they do wrong on the island.
