The National Sexual Predator Information Center, today announces a press conference will be held at the Wyandotte County Courthouse on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 10:00 am.Ã‚ The National Sexual Predator Information Center’s mission is to bring absconders of the State and National Sex Offender Registry into compliance, provide proactive strategies to reduce future sexually related crimes and supply training and education to the public concerning sexual predators.
The National Sexual Predator Information Center will serve as a clearinghouse of information about convicted sex offenders who fail to register as well as provide technical and financial assistance to law-enforcement agencies in the prevention, investigation, prosecution and treatment of cases involving sex offenders.Ã‚ Future features of the National Center will include:
Ã¢â‚¬ ¢The operation of a CyberTipline that the public may use to report absconders
Ã¢â‚¬ ¢Provide grant funding for local law enforcement agencies for overtime, in order to monitor registered offenders
Ã¢â‚¬ ¢Training programs for law-enforcement, educators and social-service professionals
Ã¢â‚¬ ¢Distribution of photographs and descriptions of sex offender absconders nationwide
Ã¢â‚¬ ¢Coordination of child-protection efforts within the public and private sector
Ã¢â‚¬ ¢Networking with nonprofit service providers and state clearinghouses regarding repeat offenders
