Last night on Fox’s “The Big Story” Beth Holloway Twitty was live on set in NYC discussing the disappearance of her daughter Natalee Holloway and Joran Van der Sloot’s consistent disregard to take responsibility for anything.

Natalee’s mother, Beth Holloway Twitty is here with us. Beth, how do you feel things are going down there in Aruba?
BETH: Well, when I hear that the search is continuing for Natalee of course that is something that Jug and her father and I so desperately hope continues. One thing that really concerns me though is the statements that they have from Joran and also there has been a taped confession from Deepak, and they are clearly stating how Natalee is coming in and out of consciousness. Joran has already admitted to having sex with Natalee at his home at 1:40 am. Why, though, they were not brought charges against for rape I just don’t understand.
And now there is this new interview that Joran did with A Current Affair. Tell us about that and tell us why you are so angry about it.
BETH: It is typical of Joran, and it is so ironic when you listen to his video tape. He is not to blame for anything. He is placing the blame on the tourism, that they say it is down in Aruba and he is placing that on me. He is placing, as far as Natalee being drunk, he has even admitted during this interview that he buys her the shot that he buys her the drink, and he is blaming her for being drunk. It is like he does not accept responsibility for anything that has gone on when he is the one who is completely responsible for this. He is the reason why Aruba, that the tourism is down.
Let’s talk about the tourism. Are you asking for a boycott of Aruba?
BETH: What I am asking for is for the millions of people who have supported me through their thoughts and prayers through emails through cards and letters to please consider refraining from traveling to Aruba and other Dutch Kingdom territories until Natalee is returned to me, because they CAN make this happen! The answers are there, we have the three individuals, three suspects including Paulus Van der Sloot that have the answers to what happened and where Natalee is.
But if Joran is now in Holland, Aruba really isn’t involved with him in particular, who you hold primarily responsible, correct?
So it appears that in advance of the Joran Van der Sloot “A Current Affair” interview Beth Twitty is going to do the LIVE Talk show circuit in NYC to ask tourists not to go to Aruba until her daughter Natalee is returned. I will guess that she will be live on MSM cable shows all day tomorrow. The Joran “Current Affair” interview may have been a colossal mistake in regards to Aruba. Then again, I doubt very much whether Joran cares what happens in Aruba seeing that he has fled to Holland.
BETH: Yes, (Joran is primarily responsible) absolutely.
So then Aruban authorities who are conducting these searches, do you feel that they should still be doing more than that?
BETH: I feel that Joran should be brought back for charges to be filed against him for kidnapping and rape. I think it has become crystal clear exactly what he has done to Natalee. Whether they went ahead and murdered her after a gang rape I don’t know that but Depak has admitted in a taped confession to Jamie Skeeters that they all had sex with Natalee and Joran clearly has Natalee coming in and out of consciousness. If that does not constitute gang rape then I don’t know what does.
So at this point Beth hat do you think happened to Natalee?
BETH: Well, I don’t know what they did with her after that but what I do know is that Joran clearly has Natalee drunk or drugged as she is coming in and out of consciousness. He specifically states that he has sex with her at his home, and we have Depak with a taped confession that they all had sex. I know that is what happened. What they did with her after that no we don’t know, but it certainly seems like the list of inconsistencies and a reasonable doubt is clearly there.
Will you go back to Aruba to continue to stay on this case? You were there. You worked it. This is your daughter. Do you feel that you need to be there to get an answer?
BETH: Yes, yes and I will be returning within two weeks.

It seems that Beth Twitty is doing the same thing that she is accusing Joran of and that would be to not accept any of the responsibility for her daughters actions.In fact she does not even acknowledge that Natalee contributed to her own decision to go to CnC’s,get drunk,dance on the bar,allow belly shots to be slurped from her navel and last but not least the decision to get in the car with the virtual unknowns despite being asked by her classmates to get out of the car.
How in the heck can Beth not acknowledge that her own daughter contributed to her disappearance.Now she is laying he blame on Natalee’s decision to drink on Joran.Hell truth be known it was not the first time Natalee drank while in Aruba.

I am 62 years old and it has always been my dream to vacation in Aruba. I wouldn’t go there now if someone paid me. The government is corrupt and any young girls visiting or who already live there are not safe. I am convinced the three boys who were let go have a ring of terror there. The girls that have already been hurt and live there are afraid to come forward.
Nothing new – same ole same ole for Beth – she listens and hears only what she wants to – I hope she is not planning on going anywhere – that crimes remain unsolved – gee wouldn’t that be New York – dont you have unsolved crimes – she needs to maybe stay home and take care of her son and let her dear exhusband deal with this – at least he has the good sense to not punish a whole country for the actions of a few!!
He did not flee Aruba. He is Dutch, he is staying in Dutch territory. The police knows exactly where he is. He had to go to college. What do you want him to do? Sit at home between thousands Americans, waiting around? Somebody who is giving interviews for the US media is hardly fleeing. He can be brought in any time the police wants him. Ask yourself this: Why does the Aruban police not arrest Joran, although the whole US is looking at this case and all the evidence of a gang rape (tape, documents) is right there?? Does it ever occur to you that something might not be right with this evidence?
If the police had this evidence they would have brought him in already. And if this evidence really is true, tell me why Dave isn’t making some noise. He is still on Aruba.

When the people of Aruba unfortunately have to suffer because tourism is down, perhaps they will get a backbone and stand up to their justice system and elected officials and make them do the right thing. Their own law states that is a person cannot give consent, it is rape…. it has been admitted…. what more does it take? I sure would like to know the extent of van der Sloot’s ties with the cronies back in Netherlands and know who paid for Joran’s 9 lawyers. Many questions remain unanswered and if anybody can get to the bottom of it, Beth Twitty can with the support of Americans who support her and will not support a country that does not respect it’s own laws.

Joran buys her drinks, drugs her, gang rapes her, Doesnt know what happened to her after that ( she just fell off the face of the earth) then lies about everything for months. We (my husband and myself) are in the vacationing prime of our lives and Aruba has been put on our “won’t go there” list with our travel agent. This includes both land vacations and cruises. If the cruise boat goes there – we won’t be on that cruise.
Our thoughts and prayers for the Holloway Twitty family and for justice in Aruba continue.

The point of my remark is not whether you find him guilty or not. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. I just don’t understand why you are so reluctant to even consider that things might not be as they seem to be. In this day and age it is almost impossible for a government to sweep something like this under the carpet. If the evidence Mrs. Twitty claims to have is real evidence, don’t you think the FBI (who has been monitoring the whole case) would have stepped in? Do you think Dave Holloway would tell us that he still has faith in the Aruban justice system?
If your not being blind, why is it not a possibility that something is wrong with that evidence?
And for all of you who decided never to travel to Aruba, I can only say that I’m really sorry you feel that way. I think it’s unfair though, many of you probably think Michael Jackson and O.J. Simpson are guilty too and yet nobody accuses your government of being corrupt. To avoid any suspicion of being corrupt, all the rulings in this case are made by judges flown in from Curacao and The Netherlands and The FBI has monitored the whole case. Aruba has been a democracy for years and the crime statistics are very low. Tourists asked why they keep returning to Aruba have safety in their top 5 answers.
I’m sorry everybody is so eager to judge Aruba based on a very one sided story, emphasizing everything negative and forgetting everything that Aruba has tried to do solve this.
It is a tragedy what the Holloway Twitty families and their friends have been going through over the last several months. No one ever thinks that something like this could happen to their family. We trust our leaders and our justice system to have Laws and enforce them, to protect us, and we try to feel safe. I would never go to Aruba now as it obviously does not protect it’s tourists, but seems to protect it’s residents, by denying the truth that we all know! Why do they let these boys run free, when they obviously have done very irresponsible and criminal acts. In my view, they let the boys go to have the media pressure lifted off of them. I believe that Natalee got into the car believing that she was safe and was kept by force. I think she was gang raped, maybe she began to scream when she might have been realizing what was taking place after the effects of the alcohol and possiby drugs began to wear off, and maybe she was suffocated?!. Obviously causing panic by the boys, enough to have to get advise, hide her body and LIE about it. They all agreed to LIE. We know why! It just hasn’t been proven. That is just my theory.
I applaud Beth Holloway Twitty for being a strong willed American Mother, who in my opinion would give her life for her children. Bravo to her and I encourage her to not give up in this quest for answers and justice. What mother would?
I say more power to you Beth. I have never been to Aruba and now I never will be either. What this case has shown the world is that there s no justice in Aruba should “something bad happen” … ummm didn’t someone else use those words in relation to Natalee at some point in time during one of many lying sessions? I feel sorry for the Aruban simple folk … they did not create this situation but yet they have to live it and probably will be doing so for a very long time. This is not going to go away anytime soon. However, the elected officials have brought this on Aruba, the people of Aruba that elected them and themselves. And I do not feel one bit sorry for them. They created this situation when they first let 10 days go by without officially interviewing the suspects. Who by the way were the very last ppl to see Natalee alive. Anyone with half of a brain would have thought to bring them in for questioning, but nope, not in Aruba. Even Jaansen the prosecutor stated, in one of the ONLY official statements that has come from her office in the past almost 5 months, that Paulis Van der Sloot interfered with the investigation by coaching the boys and asking what the Kalpoes told the police (early on in the investigation). Did we see him suffer any consequences for that? NOPE … not in Aruba. Get my drift?

The majority of voting Arubans do not feel that their elected officials are in any way guilty of a cover-up, or lack of concern, in this case. Otherwise, they would have voted them out of office when given the opportunity. I do NOT believe, for a minute, that the locals feel that the Three Amigos deserve to be prosecuted for any crime. Therefore, ALL young girls should fear for their lives, if vacationing in Aruba. Who will be next???
I will forever BOYCOTT Aruba until this crime is solved. And, the next time my college age children request money for spring break vacations, you can bet they won’t be in Aruba on mom and pop’s dollar.

After what I saw today. I have no more sympathy for Beth than any of the other thousands of mothers whose children are missing. I really felt sorry for her before but she has shot herself in the foot. She outright lied, saying that she did not ask for a boycott. She asked that people not go to Aruba until she has her daughter back, this equals a boycott. Every mother wants to believe that their daughter is perfect, there is no such thing as a perfect person.

Shame on you Nona! Beth doesn’t think her daughter is perfect, any more than you or I think our kids are perfect. But, she has a right to have her daughter brought home, just as parents of other missing children do. How can you begrudge her because she has the tenacity to see this to the end? I have to admire her for that.

And, further, she did not lie about the boycott business. Get real! A part of her wants Americans to stay away from that cess pool island to bring them to their knees. At the same time, she feels empathy for the innocents of Aruba. Try walking in her shoes for about 4 months.
It would seem by Joran’s OWN STATEMENT on TV that he is guilty of lying to police during the investigation of a missing person. doesn’t that qualify as obstruction of justice? He agreed with the other boys on what lie they would tell. Isn’t that conspiracy? They would just like this to go away and their “happy island” to go back to the way it was (drugging and raping young women). They need to read the story of Pandora’s Box.
To the person who says Natalee was responsible for getting herself drunk: I agree, she would bear the responsibility for her own hangover, but since when is being drunk punishable by gang rape? The way Deepak was talking on that interview he obviously thought she deserved what she got.
And if you have done nothing wrong (have nothing to cover up or hide) why would you make an agreement with your friends to tell a story instead of the truth? Guilty, guilty, guilty – I would hate to be those boys one day, having to explain to God what they did to His child.
Bizman- She had the right to do all those things you accuse her of in the bar and out of it- WITHOUT GETTING KILLED! She wasn’t bad just because she did those things, maybe careless. The evil part of this was the slipping of anything into her system without her knowledge and abusing her afterward! You should read the effects of date rape drugs and some of her behaviour might become really clear for you. I’m wondering though, why her friends who were there that night, don’t come forward and clear her reputation?
To the poster about the two outstanding icons in the US; Jackson didn’t KILL anybody! Simpson is an albatross we will forever wear around our necks in shame! We failed on that one and we know it. I’m sure Mountian Brook is like any other affluent community in the United States. The kids party and the parents are in denial or deceived. I grew up in a somewhat less affluent environment, but most kids I knew lived this double life – partied after school and went to church on Sunday. I wasn’t a latchkey kid; my parents just had no clue. I wasn’t worthy of death or abuse for my “sins”, and Natalee wasn’t either.
While I abused drugs and alcohol, I never had to drug or rape anyone for female conpanionship. I never lied to police or hid someone’s body. These boys have a character flaw, probably going back to their parents and how they have been raised. They need to become responsible young men and own up to what has happenned. Most of the world has a pretty good idea. I think they drugged her and she overdosed.

Supposedly americans are really intelligent people. Well you are not showing it right now. How can it be possible that you can even think about hurting a whole island? By hurting us, will this bring Natalee back? Don’t forget that what you do to others will come right back at you. You think that you are the allmighty USA and that nothing will harm you. Beth is pathetic, How come she is blaming Joran for leaving her DRUNK Nat in the beach, This is the only bad thing he made. He did not obliged her to drink, she had being drinking since 5 pm . If she had taking some kind of drug she will be amnesic and sleepy, within 15 min, according to all the allegations she went walking and she was kissing in the car and etc. So she was alone in the beach and she went into the ocean BY HERSELF.
Beth, is saying that they change and lied, She has being telling for 3 months that she found a witness and next day, either the person flew the country or they do not show up, so she is also giving false statements and clues.
Now the boycott to Aruba, poor her because with all the different clues that she has giving lots of people does not believe her anymore and they had already made up an opinion of the case.
Personally, I think she is waiting an offer to sell her story or make a movie.
AW@Aruba. While I do understand a boycott will harm innocent people on the island…the intent isn’t to hurt you…its to put pressure on the government. Its the government…not the people of Aruba that we have a problem with. Clean up our own backyard? Yes…we have plenty of problems over here to work on. Does that mean we are going to ignore this one?? Not on your life. No…by hurting the island or any of the three kids involved will not bring Natalee back. But at least its possible that the authorities in Aruba will get going instead of taking vacations every few weeks.
To be honest…I believe they are still working on this case. I work for a law firm…and I understand they are not bringing charges…not because they don’t have ANY evidence like some think…but because without a body…they need more evidence. They will get it…I’m sure. I’m not one of the people calling for an organized boycott…but would I visit the island right now? No…and I’m sorry that hurts you and the island. I am honestly. But why would I travel to a place that has known drugging problems that they refuse to address? It just doesn’t make sense. The chances of it happening to me are probably slim to none. That doesn’t mean I want to be around it.
As for bizman…what are you thinking? You are all over the place here saying there is no evidence of Natalee being drugged, raped or murdered. At this point…I’ll give you the one about evidence she has been murdered. But over and over and over on all of these blogs people explain to you the evidence that they have raped her. If you want to keep saying the same ol same ol…my question is why is that? People have given you the proof…and if I remember correctly…you watched as Deepak said they all had sex with her. my question here would be why are those boys telling all different stories? is it the media portraying it like that. or are they really that insensitive to HELP finding NATALEE. Antoinette, maybe Beth will make a movie. I hope she does. That movie will do two things, as I see it. One, it will continue to keep the case in the media, the pressure on Aruban gov’t, and tourists aware of the dirty little secrets that Aruba is covering up. Two, it will help pay for the massive bills facing the Holloway and Twitty families.

As Coverage Mania of the Holloway story continues unabated, let’s do some math. I know – we got into journalism precisely because we were told there would be no math. But let’s do some anyway and answer empirically: Just how dangerous is that vicious, pirate-ridden, uncaring island of Aruba?

The population of Aruba is about 72,000 people. A conservative estimate of visitors in a given week is about 13,500. Total people on island at any given time? About 85,500.
Last year in Aruba there were two murders – possibly just one, depending on which stat you believe. We’ll go with two anyway. No tourists were killed. That’s a murder rate on Aruba of a little over 2 per 100,000, but we’ll call it an even 2. Or look at it this way: The Aruba murder rate is .0002.
Still, you can’t go a minute without hearing about Natalee and you’re worried. Maybe you’re switching your vacation from Aruba to Jamaica. Bring some Kevlar. Murder rate: 32 per 100,000.
You’ll be twice as safe in Puerto Rico as you would be in Jamaica. Still, it’s eight times more dangerous than Aruba: 16 per 100,000 folks in Puerto Rico are going to meet an untimely end this year (with or without Greta Van Sustern caring).
If you’re fine with 10 in 100,000 murders per capita, we can suggest Mexico, Estonia, Belize, the Dominican Republic and maybe Barbados during a bad year. Feel a little more secure in Costa Rica. Of your 100,000 friends, 99,994 won’t get capped.
So, stick to the U.S. Virgin Islands. We run it. How bad could it be? Turns out you better leave behind a lot of clues if you’re going there: 25 murders per 100,000. That’s worse than ANY American city, save for New Orleans where shooting guns into the air is considered good, clean fun. The British Virgin Islands are more polite, but say “cheerio” to 11 per 100,000 chaps.
Screw it, you think, I’ll just stay home. Now you’re only three times as likely to be killed as if you went to Aruba, with the U.S. murder rate at about 6 per 100,000. The murder rate in New York City, from where Fox News constantly reminds us how dangerous Aruba is, was 7 per 100,000 people in 2002. And if your home is in, let’s say, Alabama, up the murder rate to 7.5 per 100,000. Then wonder if one of your congressman will call for a boycott of your own state.
Obviously, there are safer places to vacation than Aruba. Go to Slovenia, Tunisia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia or Qatar and you’re golden. Go to Canada, and you’re as safe as you could be. Of course, it’s colder than Aruba, but the murder rate is tiny. And it’s much less likely your family will be pestered by Nancy Grace. She’s from the south. She hates the cold.
I got a certain amount of hate mail regarding my last column on Aruba media insanity. (Ironically, Aruba Today’s editor said she loved it.) One eloquent writer asked “Do you have a life?” I think it’s pretty obvious the answer is “No, of course not. I work in news.” One person asked, simply “What is your point?” Context. That’s my point. I am not mocking this tragedy, nor the importance of it to the family. What I am so troubled by is a national media obsession that is making Aruba look as though it is run by the Sopranos. Before we ruin the Aruban economy, which is dependent on tourism, here is a little more context:
Natalee disappeared on May 30, 2005. Also on that date, five U.S. soldiers died in Iraq: Corp. Jeffrey B. Starr died in Ramadi, and SSGT. Casey Crate, Captain Derek Argel, Captain Jeremy Fresques and Major William Downes died in Jalawah.
There are currently 19 kids from Alabama listed as missing at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website. (2 are from before 1980, some are indeed “family abductions” or “runaways”.)
In South Africa, two young tourists were murdered the day after Natalee went missing.
LaToyia Figueroa, a 24-year-old pregnant woman from South Philadelphia, has been missing since July. She is Black. There has been just about no media coverage (except for stories wondering why there’s no media coverage). Contrast that with the non-stop madness surrounding Laci Peterson, a 27-year-old pregnant woman from Modesto, California, who was white.
35,000 children are forced to work as prostitutes just across the sea from Aruba, in Colombia.
It’s unlikely you’ll be murdered in Aruba, and it’s even more unlikely the news will care. Of course, there are ways to skew the numbers. It turns out you can geometrically expand the odds of having your story covered if you’re a cute white girl with an articulate mother during a slow news cycle. This should generate a significant spike in ratings numbers; after all, that’s the only stat that really matters.

Bizman…you make me laugh…you really do. Where is the proof??? lol. Where is your proof the the Twitty twins killed her? You say they were embarrassed so they waited on the beach and when she walked back after Joran tried so desperately to take her back to the hotel…well…the twins got out of control and killed her because she embarrassed them. You want to talk proof??????
As for proof…its a little hard to see if you put plugs in your ears and blinders on your eyes Bizman…which is what you have done. I believe these three boys are involved. And thats my right…but I am also open to hearing some other proof if someone has it that proves them innocent. I haven’t seen it.
None of us know except the people there that night. I’m willing to accept that. But when 3 out of the possible 4 not only lies…but says they planned together to lie…and then they continue to lie and change their stories…why??? Why would I believe now that they have decided to tell the truth? You tell me…who has the blinders and plugs in their ears?? Because it sure isn’t me.
This all began with a single lie. When Joran told the MB students (many of them have attested to this) that he was a tourist from Holland staying at the Holiday Inn. This first lie, I believe led us to where we are at today. For what reason did Joran feel he had to lie to those kids? Why did he not want them to know he actually resided and lived on the island? Joran began lying before “anything bad” ever happened to Natalee … at the moment he led them all to believe he was there as they were, a tourist. Once a liar, always a liar. And, I believe he lied because he intended to “get lucky” that night from the git go although I do not feel he had anyone in particular in mind at that point in time. It ended up being Natalee. And, the little game he played with the MB students about who he was, where he was from and why he was there, I’m certain wasn’t the first time he used that tactic in order to “get lucky”.
For those who are condemning Natalee’s behavior that night … when it is insinuated that she was the instigator, that she was doing jello shooters, etc., it is very easy to condemn someone who cannot defend themself. She’s not here to do it, therefore, the only person who can do it for her is her mother, whom by the way, she seemed to have an extremely close relationship with.
So what if Natalee drank tha night. So what if she over-indulged. Do you remember the first time you earned your wings of freedom away from your parents’ prying eyes? I remember mine. I was sick the entire next day. However, I could have been Natalee had I been there that night at that age because when I first experienced alcohol, I didn’t know when to turn it off…..that is something you learn thru experience and Natalee was very inexperienced and very naive when you see what she was up against. A 17 yr old KID who had been allowed to drink and gamble for who knows how long …. a KID that C & C’s allowed to order liquor so strong (151) that it is banned from some places. A 17 yr old KID with bad intentions. That is what she was up against and she trusted him and I feel she was attracted to him but only for the lies he told. The deception began immediately when Joran introduced himself to the MB students. For what reason would he have to stop deceiving the world now? He got away with it then and it appears he will get away with it now.

Interesting news. I spoke to a friend of mine in Aruba. I met her and her husband while I was there on my honeymoon. We stay in touch. She said that most of the people in their circle hate both families and the shame this has brought on the island. They hear many rumors and most think the boys and THEIR FAMILIES are very guilty. She also told me that there has already been an impact on the island in terms of lost revenue from the negative attention. Lastly, she said that although most are angry over the way this has been handled, they keep this opinion to themselves out of fear. INTERESTING.

To kill-ignorance…and to AW@Aruba: I have had a couple of my posts disappear also. I wondered the same as you. In one case…it showed up the next day. But with so much mail coming in…I decided it wasn’t deleted…just went missing. You should try posting your thoughts again. Have a feeling one was directed against me…but thats fine…I’m not breakable. @USA : I think you’re a bit wrong there. Western Europeans have no problems visiting Aruba at all. In fact, Western Europeans are well aware that the crime rates on Aruba are very, very low and know it is a safe island to visit, unlike most of the other islands in the region.
I’ve seen a few of those “anti-Aruba” websites you mentioned and they are mostly frequented by Americans. Let’s have a look at the anti-US websites just to be honoust, shall we…
Please keep in mind as well that public opinion about this case in Western Europe is a little different than in the US. Eventhough people feel sad for the disappearance of Nathalee, people cannot stomach the American attitude towards this at all.
The way you and others speak just shows the core of the problem, Americans have a severe lack of respect towards other sovereign nations and continue to seek control in all overseas matters they can get their hands on. Enough is Enough…
