Beth Twitty on Greta Van Susteren

Beth Twitty, Natalee Holloways Mom, said just a minute ago on her meeting with Joran Van Der Sloot:

Van Der Sloot was the most condesending arrogent and somewhat powerful attitude of any 17 year old I have ever seen.

Beth said that she wanted to see my daughter, now. He just threw his head back and hit his chest.

What do you want me to do. What do you want me to do.

Give her a big steel hammer. tie both of his hands down on a steel table. he has ten chances to answer her questions. that’s what she wants him to do.

That boy doesn’t deserve to breathe the same air as the rest of us

Joran baby and his two playmates are going to get theirs. The US of A would go ape-shit if these guys get out. And a light sentence would not be tolerable either.

Makes me wonder what kind of retribution they can look forward to from the families if they ever are released, say 30 years from now. That would make Natalee 48, which she probably will never be.

For me, I would make it my mission in life to make sure I could within arms reach of each of them. And no one would ever know - except them.

    7. Neil on June 20th, 2005 11:16 pm

You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Natalee’s mom approach to Joran probably shut down any possibility of anything but a defensive response.

She was understandably highly emotional state, and the best I can say it, was she probably was throwing a tantrum. Anyone around her who felt accused would likely respond negatively, and that is exactly what Joran and family probably did.

Too bad the police did not take Joran in right on the spot to interview him without Natalies family present.

All this hatred and venom is not good.

    8. Bham on June 20th, 2005 11:22 pm

Neil - Joran hasn’t talked in 3 weeks - i don’t think kissing his butt with kindness is the answer. He’s clearly a spoiled rotten limp XXXX punk. I don’t care if Natalee’s mom spit in his pathetic face - he deserves it. He’s very well coached in not talking. Her reaction won’t impact him either way. You’d have to be human to sympathize with an agonizing mother - this kid isn’t human and doesn’t deserve humane treatment.

    9. Peter on June 20th, 2005 11:34 pm

The other two guys are in this two. I don’t understand why we don’t know more about them. There mommy and daddy and whatever else they’ve done in their pasts.

What a mess… reading this makes me sad… really… this is sooo abnormal…

Beth i am praying for you..for every single one of you.

what ever is going on there it is not right .
the way that kid is acting is not right.. the way this whole investigation goes is not right.. even now it is clear that they are involved… this should end..
we all want this to end.. why such a drama why so many mistakes… why is it going this way?

questions… still no clear answers… what is the matter with these kids!
they are not kids ..,. they knew damm well what they have done..
i hope he gets raped… and feels the pain…

    11. Neil on June 21st, 2005 12:44 am

      Bham

The incident that made Beth say Joran was cold, etc. took place the early morning after Beth arrived in Aruba, maybe 24 hours after Natalie was last seen at C&C. So it was not a matter of three weeks of kindness.

I think Beth came on like gangbusters and the possibility of any further rational conversation ended right there. This is what I am referring to and not the three weeks of inadequate police work.

Mob hangings have more than once resulted in injustice, so we really need to let the justice system take its course, as plodding as it is. Maybe Joran is guilty of something, maybe not. There are many possibilities, and we can only speculate, so I think it is a little early to get out the rope, or to even take glee in imagining that Joran or his pals are suffering prison brutality.

I feel for Natalee’s family and friends; clearly their suffering is great. Prematurely lashing out serves no function. In time I think that whoever caused Natalee harm will receive what the Dutch legal system thinks is justice.

      Neil
Do you have children? Have they ever been is serious danger?

    13. Neil on June 21st, 2005 1:05 am

Two daughters, now in their late 30’s, plus four grandchildren 13 thru 3.

No real serious danger. We live in a small midwestern town, population 1800, and the teenagers cruise town on non school nights as part of the social scene, hanging out at different homes or at the local quick stop parking lot. Both our daughters always came home at an agreed upon time or called for a small extension and we never worried. My younger daughter did not come home once when scheduled, and I did feel panic. By 2:00 am I woke up the local cop to see if he had heard anything, and then started calling my daughters friends. Turns out that my daughter and her friend had fallen asleep watching a movie at her friends house.

    14. Kate on June 21st, 2005 1:35 am

All I have to say is that as a mother Beth Twitty is in my thoughts. I hope that your little girl is okay. I hope that Joran rots in prison for letting anything bad happen to Natalee, even if he just let her lay there on the beach sleeping as he said, he should have gotten her to her hotel safely. I don’t believe him for one minute. I think that you have him pegged. I hope that you find her safe and alive.

    15. Scott on June 21st, 2005 1:42 am

As a professor of forensic psychology, i believe this case is unlikely to be solved by the Aruban police. They have obtained no forensic evidence that i am aware of. There is also no body to be found which, in most criminal cases, is the single most important piece of evidence to analyze/profile. Additionally, while an investigation is going on, you never, ever allow anyone related to a victim speak with a suspect. never, ever. With a skilled interrogator, i.e. the US FBI/Quantico contingent… you might still be able to get the truth from one of the three boys. But, the fact that there appears to be no evidence, weekens the position of interrogator considerably. From a purely psychological point of view based on statements made by all three parties (Van Der Sloot and the 2 brothers) that i have read, i would place the highest probability of guilt on J. Van Der Sloot. However, in a court of law, probability and proof are entirely 2 different phenomena.

    16. ironsides on June 21st, 2005 2:00 am

Mrs. Twitty is a strong person, I trust her instincts about the rat. He is guilty and he is lying to cover up so as to avoid more harsh punishment. It is incredible to me that someone would think that wanting to get to the truth about what happened to their child is equivalent to “mob justice”. The problem is that justice in the Dutch system may mean that the defendants are aquitted and the truth will never be known. How many other “date rapes” have occurred and been ignored by the Aruban authorities? Who would want to hang around to press charges if she survived it? Interesting that all of the perps are sons of “respected” and well-to-do Aruban “businessmen” and judges in waiting. Could the inaction and delay have something to do with that fact?

    17. Peter on June 21st, 2005 2:19 am

Just heard that an imbecilic Aruban “police officer” said that Natalee’s family needs to be polygraphed in case they are hiding something.

What pond scum do these creatures come from?? With that attitude, we should realize that it is not our imagination when we perceive that the investigation is proceeding haphazardly.

      A mother’s intuition is a powerful thing.

    20. Cerulean on June 21st, 2005 4:09 am

I don’t think anyone should criticize Natalee’s mother. Being “ladylike” is NOT important right now.

I question the single interpretation of Joran Van Der Sloot’s behavior as arrogance. It’s possible that he just didn’t know where Natalee was and was reacting to her mother’s anger and insistence. I wasn’t there and I don’t know, I’m just saying that that could have explained his demeanor as well as the other theories.

    21. A Mom ~ on June 21st, 2005 5:16 am

I may have missed this somewhere, but I am curious as to why the 2 brother’s car haven’t been taken in ~
In all reports and statements that I’ve seen or heard, it has been said that the 2 brother’s dropped off Joran and Natalee.
This would leave one to believe that it was their vehicle that was driven, not Joran’s. Accordng to the law there, Joran is not a licensed driver yet.

This whole thing smacks of a cover-up and stupidity on the part of the Aruban’s investigating this tragedy ~

    22. kandeyingeorgia on June 21st, 2005 5:51 am

I don’t know how the Holloway’s have made it this far. Pure will and determination. I don’t know that I could have been as restrained with punk a** JVS as she was. Even if he did not have a thing to do with Natalee’s disappearance, his arrogant attitude was uncalled for and it seems as if he almost wanted to taunt her mom. What kid would act like that? That’s what bothers me — his Joe Cool act when the parents drove up — he and the Kalpoe(s) were casually leaning on a car and then he pops off at her like that? It leads me to believe that he was very sure of himself; cocky and not in the least worried about anything.

    23. Julie on June 21st, 2005 6:59 am

I think that one of two things happened here with there seeing each other she said she was sitting in the car and holding a picture of Natalee and he approached the car and that is when, she said I want my daughter and I want her now, and then JV get’s arrogant and throws his head back and hits his chest and say what do you want me to do, What do you want me to do, this gives me the impression that he was Very sure of himself that what he did will never be known and he will get off scott free because people helped cover it up or He got very agitated and stressed out because he was tired of the questions and being interrogated and he really didn’t know anything. But if I am guessing it would be the first theory I am pretty sure this kid knows something because if you were not gulity then why would you not proclaim your innocence to the victim’s mother any way you could and tell her how sorry you are that this has happened. and what about the other 2 the brothers why has nothing been said about them, especially from there parents the only thing I have heard was on Greta last night when that man that was showing Greta around said that the mother of the 2 brothers was very sad because she thinks her boys are innocent. This is the most bizarre thing I have ever seen, This whole thing is just too much and I hope that they find Natalee and what happened to her soon, those four obviously know something or they wouldn’t be in prison!

    24. AnnapolisArubaFan on June 21st, 2005 7:42 am

For the 50th time, I will ask: what is up with a reward? If it’s set high enough and no worthy leads emerge, then we know that the only parties involved are the ones already detained.

It’s human nature: big rewards lead to tips. So again: why isn’t the flush Aruban gov’t and tourist industry ponying up?

    25. DeeDee on June 21st, 2005 8:02 am

Pride, for the Van der Sloots, goes before their destruction. Regardless of where this goes from now on they will be recognized through out the world as the family who covered up a murder for their son because dear old dad was a judge. They have lost any credibility anywhere because rarely has anyones names been so publicized. His dad should take the responsibility for all of it as to how he raised his son. Obviously, the mother is aloof. I feel sorry for the siblings on both sides. Neither families will ever be the same.

    26. DeeDee on June 21st, 2005 8:08 am

Also, I believe the Croes fellow may be there for the reward money. He may have allowed Joran to use the smaller boat owned by the party boat company to take care of the body. He may not have helped in anyother way and may be held for his own protection and for his testimony. He is not charged with any crime thus far. So yes, the reward may have brougth out a witness.

    27. Vickie on June 21st, 2005 8:24 am

I feel so bad for Beth Twitty, what I think happened is that Natalee was snatched after
she had been profiled and sold into BlackMarket. There has been no body located and I think the three friends targetd her and choose her They were seen as several places that the class visited. I feel that there will never be a body located because she is not dean but rather sold into Prostitution. The Aruba governement will not solve this case because they are inept and the boys are all from wealthy families who are covering for there children.

    28. Just Wondering on June 21st, 2005 8:44 am

Beth Twitty was certainly on the edge last night…..can’t say I blame her.
I did notice she changed her story. Originally, last week or the week before she said she never met the boys.
She hesitated last night before answering Greta’s question.
I guess the frustration got to her.

    29. Big Pappy on June 21st, 2005 8:51 am

It’s all too sad and weird to contemplate, stranger by the minute. I truly feel sad for Aruba (not in a defensive way regarding the process, which I think has been slow and frustrating ) but it’s a locale like anywhere else where you’ve got good folks and bad folks. Shame these kids will be responsible for all but shutting down a huge part of their tourism business if not all of it. Local kids by all respects, who somewhere along the line should have been told you don’t $hit where you eat. Generations of people who worked hard to make Aruba a paradise for many, flushed down the toilet by some ego empowered and self entitled punks who’ve been handed everything they ever wanted. Praying for Natalee and family here.

    30. pktbk on June 21st, 2005 9:01 am

i saw beth on anderson cooper last night. she is getting more and more frustrated, and with good reason. she wasn’t able to go in to detail on a lot of issues. i’m assuming because it would compromise the case and investigation. but from the way she talked, it seems they are telling her not to answer certain questions, but in turn they aren’t giving her any information. i don’t think she is getting any assurance from the aruban police on this. i would be hard pressed not to tell everything i know to the media just to find answers on my own.

that is true about the reward. money will bring people out of the woodwork. and the fact that you can claim it anonymously is enough for some to come forward.

    31. VANESSA on June 21st, 2005 9:01 am

Beth Twitty is a remarkable woman in my opinion. She vows not to leave Aruba without her daughter and talks of Natalee in the present tense; not the past. She truly exemplifies the unconditional love of a Mother for her child and will go to any length in order to find her missing child.

    32. pktbk on June 21st, 2005 9:08 am

vanessa-you are right. natalee is a lucky girl to have her for a mom.

    33. VANESSA on June 21st, 2005 9:15 am

    34. VANESSA on June 21st, 2005 9:17 am

Hey pktbk, how are your battle wounds today? You and PoPy were going at it yesterday afternoon. Did you hear the DEA last night on Fox say that drugs are brought to the island of Aruba on a daily basis? I thought about you when I heard it…sure hope PoPy was watching (LOL).

    35. pktbk on June 21st, 2005 9:18 am

i remember someone telling me that. ; ) i think after this natalee is probably going to be staying close to home for awhile.

what made me nervous yesterday was seeing those old gold mine shafts for the first time. yikes. i hope they searched those as best as they could. i had no idea those were there.

    36. pktbk on June 21st, 2005 9:19 am

vanessa-yeah, he got a little testy. he was defending his countrys innocence as best he could. i don’t think there is a country around that doesn’t have drugs going in or coming out. and when drugs are involved, there are other really bad things going on as well. like the human trafficking. i was searching for a reliable source to prove to him yesterday. i gave up though. lol

There is a rumour of a third story now by the boys that they all left her alone at the Mariott - also Joran’s dad has apparantly said he picked up his son at 3 am at McDonalds. Thoughts?

      Vanessa,

In watching the interview with Beth, do you still think that NH is alive? I mean did you get the feeling from her mom that the info we are not getting, that she is, leads her to think that? What does your relative in the FBI think?

This should be a very sad lesson for every traveler. If you leave this wonderful country of ours, this could happen to you and your family. There are many wonderful places to see without leaving the ‘protection’ of the United States. I will never leave my country again, period. Godspeed for Natalee’s return to her home, the USA.

Kris, my realtive is not down there working the case; I was just asking for their expertise in the situation. There is the theory that she has been taken (against her will of course) to another island for prostitution. If so, the Mother would not be permitted to share any of the info with the media for fear it would jeopardize the case. In speaking of her daughter in present tense does lead one to think that she could still be alive. I hope this is the case as I’m sure the rest of the world does also.

Cancon - totally playing devils advocate and I do not really believe this but wish to present it as another point of view but imagine the middle of the night- these arrogant americans showing up at your door probably throwing accusations left and right at the Van Der Sloots - by the mothers own admission she yelled at Joran and said “I want my daughter back now” - I could see where they would be nasty back.

I am a fan of Law & Order Criminal Intent and I love the way those detectives are able to read when people are lying or not - I think most people have good gut reactions most of the time but then when you deal with liars all the time and conversely people in real grief, you finely tune those gut reactions……..

well look at the case of this missing boy scout, if you want to talk about another troubling case and this is in the US, they haven’t found a trace of that boy yet either, and they’ve had massive searches since he went missing, now he has only been missing since Friday but if he is still alive, you have to step up the search because of the elements or if he’s been kidnapped by a pedophile

esp odd since a boy scout went missing and never found? around the same place around the same time of the year?

now that mother is barely holding it together now…….which would be my reaction, I couldn’t be as cool as Mrs. Holloway certainly was in the beginning

i just dont get how they can have these boys in custody for 3 weeks, and not have any answers….that would be impossible here in the u.s. so of course we think they are hiding something….

    77. larry chicken on June 21st, 2005 10:26 am

hey- I have been out of the loop for a couple of days. Quick question- Was Van Der Sloot Natalee’s “new friend” “boyfriend” or whatever they call it now a days. I quess you could ask was she “talking” to him? I know this is petty; but, I have absolutly no information on Natalee with the exception of the stuff in the headlines (straight A student, etc.) The friend aren’t talking (see my intial post a few days ago for my theories) and the mother acts like she knows nothing about the trip or what went on the night she was last seen (sure, sure, sure- she knows not to say anything that might reflect negatively on the friends if she wishes to live in peace back in Alabama when ,and if, this thing is ever concluded). I don’t know if I am alone in this; but, something doesn’t seem right (from either camp- Victim and Suspect). Natalee’s mother says that this Van Der Sloot is an arrogant jerk; but, this is the same guy that her daughter (who friends say would never ever, ever, ever, ever spend time with anyone or do anything that was not perfectly upright) knew on some level before that night (my instinct would tell me that more than a coulple of recentley developed photos have been “lost” by the friends that show Natalee and Van Der Sloot looking quite the dashing couple). That is just my gut feeling. I don’t know what happened. I don’t know if Van Der Sloot is guilty of a crime. I do know from experience that girls like guys that are jerks (many times to their detriment). What might seem like an obvious character flaw to a mother is an enduring quality to a teen girl. The tragic level of this event will be compounded if others (young girls) don’t learn (or at least hear) the lesson to be gained by this situation- “arrogant, cocky, slick guys will always choose himself when the heat is on- don’t ever, ever, ever think that he will do what is right in the end”. I feel that this lesson will never be protrayed in the media because we will never know what happend on that trip prior to Natalee leaving Carlos-n-Charlies.

    78. kristin on June 21st, 2005 10:26 am

      Cancon,
I was just repeating something that Aruba girl had said….that someone else said the father of Joran was at McDonald’s at 3am, and she had said it closes at 1am. And he drives too….so why would his dad pick him up at that time if he has his own car and drives? I still think it’s a rumor.

    79. ladyJA on June 21st, 2005 10:27 am

I have been hearing so much about this prostitution claim, is there a high possibilty of her being sold by these three guys, its just crazy to think that young boys could do such a thing, well I mean if she was murdered by one of them they are capable of anything, but what I am really asking is, is it a high possibility of her being sold and if so I would assume they were PAID, but the 3 boys are wealthy on the island so if so, y would they do it?

    80. kristin on June 21st, 2005 10:28 am

And Natalee’s mother was looking through her photos on her digital camera, there were bound to be pics of her and Joran together….if they hung out as much as everyone said they did.

    81. cancon on June 21st, 2005 10:28 am

crs yes I think you may have a point, in fact I wonder if the fact the Holloways called in the FBI got the Aruban police with their backs up

however, since Natalee was reported missing by at least 11:00 am, why hadn’t the Aruban police tracked down Joran themselves before the Holloways actually arrived in Aruba by 11:00 pm

and perhaps the Van Der Sloots should consider how they would feel if one of their children went missing and the police weren’t doing anything about it…….most people would have some compassion and realize why these people are upset, I still think you would react with trying to be helpful rather than being rude, even if you are perfectly innocent

I can see Paul being the typical parent of a rotten child - not our problem, my son is an innocent angel, how dare you accuse our angel of any wrong doing meanwhile he’s out there drinking, gambling and likely picking up chicks with his son…….

and of course if he knows his kid is guilty of something, the best defence is a strong offense, right…….

    82. cancon on June 21st, 2005 10:32 am

actually Joran is not old enough to drive, he doesn’t have his licence yet even thought that hasn’t stopped him from driving and getting caught doing so, and on that night, the Kalpo brothers were driving Joran around, if they dropped him off at that beach with Natalee his only ways home were to walk or catch a ride or taxi with someone else……

    83. Veritas on June 21st, 2005 10:32 am

In the US people care when something bad happens esp to good people.

That guy in Florida who snatched the girl was found and will go to jail 4ever or be sent to death… as I recall his capture was not strictly “by the book”

The cub scout who disappeared the community has spent $M looking for him… sadly the river may have taken him or perhaps something more sinister is afoot with what appears to be a pattern

Aruba? Nothing but giving govt workers a 1/2 day and respect for Joran and these other kids individual rights.

      PATHETIC… Tourism will suffer dramatically.

    84. ladyJA on June 21st, 2005 10:33 am

      For Kristin,
Remeber Van Der Sloot was dropped off, so he didnt have his car so he needed a ride home, I mean I didnt hear anything about McDonald but thats what I would think the reason would be to call his dad.

      And as for larry chicken,
You and I werent there, however, He may not have been a jerk to her, allot of guys put on a front claim to one and is another just to impress and sometimes to get what they want, so maybe to Natalee he was the sweetest guy, but infront of her mom he showed his true self

    85. Trisher on June 21st, 2005 10:33 am

    86. pktbk on June 21st, 2005 10:34 am

the boys themselves wouldn’t head this prostitution thing. that’s where the boat guy and joran’s dad would come in. the boys are just the tools used to get to the girls. they aren’t as obvious as older men approaching the younger women.

    87. crs on June 21st, 2005 10:35 am

Cancon - I agree with much of what you said - I think Joran has been privledged his entire life and no doubt the parents are like many in the US who can never beleieve their child did anything wrong and it is always someone else’s fault. I think these are two well to do families though that got in a pissing match from the start and I wonder if that hasn’t hindered the case- i agree Joran and the boys are the most likely suspects but you have to wonder if there was a rush to judgement and other things were missed.

    88. kristin on June 21st, 2005 10:35 am

Thats right, he didn’t have his car. I forgot about that part. GOD, I just wish we could have some answers. I see how frustrated all of us are, and we don’t even KNOW them. I can’t imagine how the family feels. It makes me want to go to Aruba and help out, but I know I will never set foot there again. Just thinking about it makes me have this creepy feeling. WHEN will the stupid aruban authorities let us IN ON THIS???

    89. ladyJA on June 21st, 2005 10:37 am

May be you are right pktbk, i really think that is how the boat came in to transport her to this other destination, but involving, the dad who is training to be a judge, confirmed by the news last night that he isnt a judicial leader, I just cant see what the father get out of this, they already have money,so I dotn see y he would, i could see the young boys wanting more than what they have, but not the dad

He is not a lawyers, never has been, hasn’t been to law school. He was planning to sit in on some cases in hopes of becoming a judge someday. SO, LadyJA, that is why the Dad could possibly be involved in human trafficking. I wish that I had seen Beth Twitty on Greta last night. I have been following this very closely, as I was just a chapperone for my son’s senior trip to the Western Carribean. We made the kids stay in small groups at all times with 2 or more classmates, because it is frightening to see how the American girls seem to be honed in and followed around by men on the islands. Our experience was awesome, but a few times one girl in particular did manage to ditch the group briefly, and when caught up with, was always found with 2 - 3 men from the island trying to lure her away. This girl was incredibly naive but liked the attention. I fear that Natalee was the victim of ones who prey on girls like her, and that her family may never know the truth. They are at the mercy of a government that has been less than forthcoming with answers, and if a body is never found, these young men will all go free. My heart sincerely goes out to Natalee’s family.

    99. ladyJA on June 21st, 2005 10:42 am

That could be so true, maybe they do owe some wrong ppl money and thats the easy way to make some money…….
As for the flyers I dont think thats true

I also wanted to address the rumor of Van Der Sloot kid committing suicide, I would think that the media would have broadcasted that a long time ago, b/c they are doing their best to make him look bad and that right there would be major on his part, so I think that would have been a news brief and I havents seen anything to that form

    100. pktbk on June 21st, 2005 10:44 am

vanessa-i thought it very strange that when local kids were questioned, they never heard of joran or the kalpoe boys. if they were so popular and well off. the dad looks like a slime ball, and i would not be shocked in the least if he was found to be involved in drug trafficking.

The missing 11 yr old in Salt Lake City: what a tragedy! his parents are in my prayers.

As for Natalee…..she is in my prayers & will be till they find her….I can only comfort myself that even if we humans find no justice for these innocent victims HERE ON EARTH, the people who did these crimes face a Higher Judge one day: They will then shake in their shoes

    103. ladyJA on June 21st, 2005 10:46 am

      Vanessa,
You have a strong point maybe thats why he ran. But my thing is this studying law or working in that profession you get paid pretty decent, it says he was studying, we dont know where he is working, but they do seem to be doing well with their kid having his own adjoined apartment, what the hell is he doing with his own place at 17 i just got my own place a yr ago and I was 23, and thats b/c I was almost done with school and its time to be career oriented, I think his parents are careless in letting him have this.

    104. Jake on June 21st, 2005 10:46 am

I am trying to catch up with all the news. I haven’t heard anything about VDS sr. picking up Joran at 3 am at the McDonalds, but if true, it would mean that the brothers story is true. They dropped Joran and NH off at the Marriott, and went home. They left Joran alone with her wehre “something bad happened”. I don’t think Joran is smart enough to have gotten a boat from Croes to dispose the body. I think that he called his dad to meet him at the McDonalds, when daddy picked him up, the 17 yr old was in a panic, and daddy told him, “don’t worry, I will take care of everything”. And daddy called Croes and arranged the “borrowing” of the boat. That is why after Croes was taken into custody “as a witness”, he told authorities that he spoke with daddy. That is why they took VDS Sr. in for a 2 hour long questioning. Phone records from all these people would indicate who called who and at what time!

    105. kristin on June 21st, 2005 10:47 am

You know what I think they were known, I think some ppl are afraid to say something, this island is not big I am from a small island and I know allot of ppl, especially, if they daddy or mommy got money, ppl are going to know you, especially if you hang out at the main spots all the time, and it seem that Carlos and Charles was one the Tatoo was one and Joran was also in the Hotel Casino, so I know that ppl them, oh and dont forget the internet Cafe which seems popular too, i think thats crap

    109. pktbk on June 21st, 2005 10:50 am

that sucks. they’ve given up this far in to it. but they are so supportive. whatever.

joran having his own apartment, his own car (even though he wasn’t old enough to drive), sounds like his parents wanted to be his friend instead of his parents. that would explain his can’t touch me attitude. he probably wasn’t disciplined at all. his parents probably totally ignored him unless it was for their own glory or now because he’s disgracing the family name.

    110. scaredshitless on June 21st, 2005 10:50 am

      CRS:

I also read about Daddy Van Der Sloot picking up Joran at 3:00 a.m. from McDonald’s. If this is so, then the DAD KNOWS how the entire nights events took place. The dad is withholding all information to protect his son. Mommy dearest knows what happened too.

Furthermore, daddy has compromised all the evidence JUST SO this case can eventually be thrown out. There is more to this story than meets the eye and when it all comes out watch how HUGE it will be!

    114. crs on June 21st, 2005 10:53 am

About BUG EYES..I think she is going to claim a Mental Illness..I’ve long suspected Run Away Bride is suffering from Bi Polar Manic Depression..just a guess with her Manic Behavior…past arrests etc….not that its any excuse for what she did and to profit off what she did is despicable…and that LAME brain fiancee..they deserve each other in my opinion.

    141. leopardqueen on June 21st, 2005 11:05 am

LadyJA…..money talks……that’s why THEY (arubans) care about their economy and NOT the girl. CRS thinks Aruba will not suffer from this but she’s wrong as Americans will NOT forget how this was handled & I will personally lead a campaign to say

      BOYCOTT ARUBA

    142. gypsylady51 on June 21st, 2005 11:05 am

Most likely, officials have the correct culprits in custody. But, I can’t help but wonder….IF….before the trip….there was any connection between Natalee and any of these males now in the slammer. I noticed the Aruba message boards, calendar’s…and so on. Is it possible…..that she ‘talked’ with them even before leaving the U.S.A.? Or….possibly….talked w/someone else. Examining computers would determine that route. Also…..for such a group….being on vacation….what about photos from her classmates cameras??

Even on vacation, we take ‘personal items’ on our person. If NH left her bags and passport in her room…..what/where/how/when/if…..have happened to her personal items? One thing she probably had, was a room key. Possibly some money.

Working as a correctional officer for many years……has shown me that once a crime has been committed……the word spreads very fast between crimenals as well as their friends, friends of friends, and acquaintances. As they say, “There are NO secrets in Jail”. I have to wonder…..why NO ONE is stepping forward. Surely to heaven….someone has enough compassion in their heart…to speak up….if even anonymously to provide leads/information.

I wish Natalee’s safety is secure. I pray that she is still alive. And….I pray for strength for her family….in the midst of all this confusion, and for whatever the outcome.

    143. pktbk on June 21st, 2005 11:05 am

his parents look like they just do their own thing and let joran raise himself. where are the kalpoe brothers’ parents? i haven’t seen any of their family being questioned, or even defending their sons.

i am just getting some huge lazy as heck vibes from that country. i know that some people are just layed back, but this is ridiculous!

    144. KatCall on June 21st, 2005 11:07 am

One aruban justice official said last week that “they can’t just go in LIKE COWBOYS during an investigation”….oh well, the Holloway’s decided to do JUST THAT and bring in some REAL COWBOYS using horses and high powered Sonar from Texas! Yee-haw for the Holloway’s!

    145. Jake on June 21st, 2005 11:07 am

NH family is clearly taking matters into their own hands!!! GOOD FOR THEM!!!! They were patient for too long. I think the whole idea of bringing in their own search team is to show the Aruban Gvmt. that THEY MEAN BUSINESS-and that they will NOT LEAVE Aruba without Natalee!!! I admire them and I support them!! Good for them!!!!

    146. scaredshitless on June 21st, 2005 11:07 am

good point, Pktbk! You’re right: island people are lazy due to the warmer climate. My Yankee gram said “hot weather causes for lazy people” that’s why she said her Georgian cousin was so lazy

    149. crs on June 21st, 2005 11:08 am

Leopard - good luck with your campaign - with your line of thinking - there would not be any tourism in West Palm Beach or half the cities in the US. NH is a tradgedy if in fact she is dead but to think no one is going to go to Aruba is silly.

    150. leopardqueen on June 21st, 2005 11:08 am

most americans, even those struggling for money, would GLADLY donate a buck or two in the search for Natalee….if we all pitched it, I’d say plough thru that whol god-forsake island! And while you’re at it, hire the Mob to make that smarmy Dutch kid talk!

    151. kristin on June 21st, 2005 11:09 am

Natalee’s mother is so pissed. She isn’t being nice anymore, you can tell she’s had it. The rest of the interview is on tonight at 10pm. She said she knows MOST DEFINITELY that they know where her daughter is. She said as soon as she spoke with them between 1 and 4am that she knew they were hiding the truth from her. I can’t believe Joran spoke to her that way. What does he mean, “what do you want me to do”??? Wouldn’t someone who WASN’T guilty say something like, “I am sorry but I don’t know where your daughter is” instead of being so DEFENSIVE and saying what do you want me to do? It seems like he’s suggesting that Natalee is already dead, and he can’t do anything about it. This is probably why he isn’t speaking now and admitting to it, because even if it’s an accident-he’s still to blame. His future is ruined, and if he keeps quiet he thinks he will be alright. They also said something about 8 FBI agents are now involved and demanding to see evidence.

    152. pktbk on June 21st, 2005 11:09 am

lol i hadn’t even thought about the warm weather thing. lol i know i get sleepy when it gets warm. maybe if this happened during the winter they would have a been a little more active. LOL

i’m glad the family is picking up the aruban government’s slack. i think beth realized that they are more concerned on what to do with the boys than actually finding natalee.

    153. leopardqueen on June 21st, 2005 11:10 am

crs….at least in the USA if something is botched in a crime investigation, we americans all attack those at fault, usually thanks to talk show hosts like O’reilly, Hannity and bob Grant!

Allowing a Judge In Training son to drink and gamble at age 17 when the legal age in Aruba is 18 is beyond my comprehension in Aruba…Carlos & Charlie’s is well known on the Island and sounds like the Van Der Snootfuls have free reign to do as they please….This is a cover up..no other way to look at it.

    156. Jake on June 21st, 2005 11:12 am

pktbk-i have been wondering for a while where the Kalpoe parents are too. I am starting to think that the Kalpoe brothers have now become “witnesses”, not suspects. I think they have kept them in jail to protect them from the media, but I think Aruban authorities know that they DID drop Joran and NH off and that Joran is now the prime suspect.

    157. leopardqueen on June 21st, 2005 11:13 am

PREDICTION: Aruba’ tourism will increase. Better to have controversial publicity than no publicity!! Americans will now come to Aruba to explore the lighthouse near Arashi and they’ll be hanging out at Carlos n Charlies.

After Nicole Brown Simpson was murdered, Mezz Luna, a restaurant she frequented in her area saw its business hit the the moon!!!! Americans are curious, they like adventure and gossip. You watch; it’s sad irony but Aruba will see a new level of wealth and they’ll erect a statue of Geraldo in Tarzan attire to show their gratitude.

    183. leopardqueen on June 21st, 2005 11:24 am

It seems like CRS is defending Aruba too much & she/he sounds unAmerican to me. I agree with SS. But my son studies prophecy and he feels the tidal wave last Dec. was God’s wrath on an area that trafficks Child Porn/Sex and that Aruba will soon also be punished for the godlessness that is running rampant down there. Either Aruba will fail economically or have bad weather ravage it.

    184. leopardqueen on June 21st, 2005 11:26 am

But the Calif. RESTAURANT wasn’t responsible for Nicole/Ron’s deaths….Aruba, in this case, is responsible for Natalee because they are NOT doing their fair share. So Yes, Aruba will suffer

Does anyone remember the Patrick Dennehy case in Texas? The Baylor Univ. BB player murdered by his friend/roommate in 2003. It took 3 weeks to find his body and the US FBI and Texas authorities were ALL OVER Carlton Dotson …the suspect. The FBI drove him so crazy he cracked up and confessed over a LONG DISTANCE phone call from Maryland. Saying “voices he was hearing told him to call and confess”. Good work and unwaivering pressure for the truth works. If only the US FBI were allowed more privileges to interrogate the suspects I would like to think the Holloway case would have been solved by now.

I had written this on another page a few days ago….but this was my experience when I went to Aruba:

I have been following the Natalee Holloway case since she first dissapeared. My two friends and I went to Aruba for our graduation when we were 18. We had our friends mother and boyfriend with us to “check-in” with us throughout the trip. They stayed in a different part of the hotel, and we were on our own for most of the trip.
We had a very similar experience happen to us that happened to Natalee. We went on the tattoo cruise, and I found a picture of us WITH the man they arrested who works on the boat. Very scary to look at the picture of him with his arms around us, smiling at the camera.
The last night we were in Aruba we went to Carlos and Charlies. We had a man following us around buying us drinks and wanting to hook up with the three of us. We didn’t like him, and we just wanted him to go away. As the night came to an end, and of course after we were all heavily intoxicated, we found ourselves without any money left to take a taxi home. My friend had met Mr. Aruba, and some of his friends, and they offered us a ride. I did not want to go with them, but my friends pushed me to go. I was not about to be left alone at the bar, and I was not going to let my friends out of my sight. We got into a silver honda civic, and I was so frightened that something bad was going to happen to us. You always hear stories…and you never know.
The men brought us back to our hotel after taking a scenic drive around Aruba…and after telling us that they waited for American girls to come to Aruba so that they could hook up with them. They actually GO to hotels and hang around the bars and pools, waiting to meet drunken girls.
I was so happy to be back at our hotel….and to never have to speak to those men again. Watching this story on TV is like watching what could have happened to us. We were foolish, and drunk…and I am sad to say that we knew better, but still went along with the men anyways. I can only hope that Natalee is alive, and I think about her and her friends all the time. No one wants to go to Aruba and have something like this happen. Maybe now everyone will be a little wiser with their choices. I wish I had been.

ALLY IN MIAMI…you’re wrong. Walsh is pretty sure Otis Toole killed Adam but evidence was lost, and Toole died in prison in 1996 of AIDS. they kept Adam’s body so had the ability of DNA testing to test the blood on Otis’s car fibers but the inept Fla. police lost the car!

In the beginning Beth Holloway said she hadn’t talked to any of the kids on the trip..I found that rather strange…but yet she knew exactly where to find Van Der Sleaze…I’m not blaming her at all for protecting these young kids but I do find it troublesome ..she said in the beginning when ask the question about talking to them and what happened that night I believe she said..” this is about Natalee and finding her..its puzzling to me…sounds like some argument with the locals could have occurred..I would never want my daughters reputation smeared but this is beyond worrying about reputations on either side…Lets get to the truth and go from there.

ally-that’s right. they never did. but he’s making up for it now! :)

      Fashionqueen,
It’s ok on the mispelling, and I was talking about the “supposed” fight between Joran and one of Natalee’s friends that took place the night of Carlos n Charlie’s.

    228. crs on June 21st, 2005 11:48 am

      Kristin - well said.

Instead of disputing knowledge about the Bible, keep in mind this forum is about Natalee and her family. Those folks are experiencing something so horrific and unimagineable. Their entire lives have been turned upside down. They have had to leave their jobs, homes, kids, friends and livelihood in search of their beloved Natalee. Not to mention the possible financial drain this will cost. But I am sure money is not of importance because our children are everything to us.

Futhermore dealing with aurthorities somewhere outside of their comfort zone such as Aruba versus the US where they are familiar with laws, jurisdictions and are privy to information relating to NH’s disappearance.

    230. scaredshitless on June 21st, 2005 11:48 am

Pktbk: see my earlier post: Walsh is certain otis toole killed Adam. Didn’t you read TEARS OF RAGE? No one knows anything on this board yet act like you do! I am a Walsh fan and have delved into all his writings.

    231. scaredshitless on June 21st, 2005 11:49 am

I pray for Natalee’s family every waking moment

Scareshitless —was Toole in jail for the murder of Adam or for other unrelated charges? (i moved to Miami long after that crime was committed—and I was very young when it occurred)

    233. kristin on June 21st, 2005 11:50 am

      Snippy:
I agree with you TOTALLY!!! I was wondering WHY she said that as well. Why wouldn’t she have spoken to the teens to ask them what happened that night? Why would she change the subject and say ‘this is about finding natalee’?? I wanted to say “THIS IS ABOUT FINDING OUT THE TRUTH OF WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT!!!!”

    234. pktbk on June 21st, 2005 11:51 am

scared-sorry to step on your john walsh loving toes! no, i’m sorry i didn’t read tears of rage. calm down! being certain and proving are two different things btw. but that’s neither here nor there. and i am pretty sure none of us claim to be experts in all of this. this is just a place to discuss. not question each other’s expertise.

i agree kat. the frustration with the differences in legal systems is driving me crazy. i can only imagine how they feel.

    235. kristin on June 21st, 2005 11:51 am

      thanks crs :)

    236. scaredshitless on June 21st, 2005 11:52 am

Ally: Otis was in jail for other murders….he was a half-wit, mentally insane & had a homosexual affair with a fellow murderer. From all the things he knew, John walsh is convinced Otis killed Adam. Read John’s book TEARS OF RAGE…..he is enraged due to the inept Fla. cops BUNGLING THE WHOLE CASE

    237. Snippy on June 21st, 2005 11:52 am

Thanks Kristin for agreeing with me and answering my post..LOL..was beginning to wonder if I was skipped over and yakkin to myself…

    238. leopardqueen on June 21st, 2005 11:53 am

Pktbk: you sound so polite you must be a Christian! I’ve also read TEARS OF RAGE. It’s a “must” read. John is fabulous! I love the guy

    239. AllyinMiami on June 21st, 2005 11:55 am

ScaredShitless- you are way out of line. No one is claiming that we know sooo much on this post..We are just commenting—wow—isn’t that what a blog forum is for? No, i did not read “TEAR of RAGE”, I prefer to read other things that do not involve the decapitation of little boys. As for knowledge, I assure you that my education level far exceeds yours.. But I must say, I should have known how articulate you were from the commencement thus demonstrated by your wonderful use of vocabulary.

    240. scaredshitless on June 21st, 2005 11:58 am

It’s just annoying when ppl type in “oh that murder of Adam was never solved” when they have no idea that John Walsh feels Otis surely did it! So why do you pontificate when you don’t know? By the way I have a college education but I type fast & hence the typo’s

    241. gypsylady51 on June 21st, 2005 11:58 am

Have just found these message boards/forums. Impossible to read everything….but was wondering, as I mentioned in my previous post.

Was/is ….there any possibility that Natalee (or any other students)….had communicated via computer to any of the suspects…before they even went on the trip? Or perhaps posted on the Aruba calendar, the information regarding their trip, arrival dates, and where they were staying?

Have not seen anything on this.

    242. crs on June 21st, 2005 11:59 am

Gypsy - what is your theory if they did communicate?

    243. MOMfromMO on June 21st, 2005 12:00 pm

      scared sh*tless and Ally:

      http://www.carpenoctem.tv/killers/toole.html

Here is a ’story’ on Otis O’Toole. It says he died of cirrhosis (not aids), and that he actually confessed to murdering Adam Walsh with details that only THE killer would have known.

      Very interesting!

What you are asking about the possibility of NH communicating via computer before her arrival to Aruba is YET another piece of this puzzle that we are kept from knowing! Stay tuned. Everyday matters and leaks are steaming to the public more and more. Just remember……people TALK! There are no secrets!

    247. pktbk on June 21st, 2005 12:02 pm

what? the john walsh expert got the cause of death wrong?! *gasp*

i don’t think there was prior contact between natalee and the island boys. i think that joran likes to stay in contact with them once they do leave however. i don’t know the exact news station but they were saying how he is known to exchange email addresses with tourist girls he meets.

    248. VANESSA on June 21st, 2005 12:03 pm

and good work MomfromMo………..get your facts straight before you start attacking others here SS!

    249. AllyinMiami on June 21st, 2005 12:03 pm

I never said I knew, reread my post. I stated that I was informed that his murder was never solved…Again, I stated that I was informed by a colleague and stated that I was too young to have retained information about that crime. I only know about what he does for this country now. I have never claimed to be an expert on this post…which is why i asked you to disseminate more info on Toole..Can we move on now and not obsess about this irrelevant information?

      pktbk–love your posts!—

    250. Kris on June 21st, 2005 12:04 pm

      Kristin/Snippy,

I think that she or family members did talk with the other students. I also remember reading somewhere that the FBI was questioning all of the students on the trip. I would assume that they(other students), would be limited in what they are allowed to say to the press. Just like NH’s mom sometimes saying that she can’t comment on that.
I do also believe that an answer to this horrible event will be coming soon.

    251. AllyinMiami on June 21st, 2005 12:05 pm

      thanks, Vanessa :)

The only student talking said last night on Fox that the FBI had not told them that they could not speak about the case. I think the students and chaperones are kind of off limits right now but will most likely come under more criticism later on.

    257. kristin on June 21st, 2005 12:07 pm

      OK thanks Kris

    258. Rob on June 21st, 2005 12:09 pm

Watching that student on Fox last night, it seemed as though she did not know Natalee as well as she was letting on.

    259. Kris on June 21st, 2005 12:10 pm

      crs,
I would still think that even if they(students) were not directly told not to say anything, they were instructed as to how to answer certain questions. I would think that they would want to be very careful so as not to lead the way for the posibility of more rumors. Just my thoughts

    260. Snippy on June 21st, 2005 12:11 pm

Kris..Well, one can only hope it will be solved soon…With so many botched searches of the suspects….letting them go in the beginning and arrested ten days later we can only speculate on how much evidence was destroyed..It galls me when the first two Black men were arrested..shown to the public from the get go ……cars and homes searched and they weren’t even the ones last seen with Natalie…..thats when I knew this was a cover up..You just don’t let the suspects go and they pointed their slimy fingers at two innocent men and they took their word for it..THAT SMELLS…

    261. MOMfromMO on June 21st, 2005 12:11 pm

      crs:
Are the students not allowed to speak, even OUT of Aruba’s jurisdiction? Not that I would want the ‘case’ to be jeopardized, but surely they would/could share what they know with NH’s family… just curious. Thoughts? :)

    262. MOMfromMO on June 21st, 2005 12:12 pm

you’re much quicker than I am…thanx, crs! The FBI making that decision makes more sense.

    263. Kris on June 21st, 2005 12:12 pm

      Rob,
That is another good point, with the family all busy looking for her–what’s to say that some of the students being interviewed are “friends” with NH. I hate to say this, but I’m thinking it–what if they are looking for their 15min? If someone was on the trip, but did not spend time with her and just happened to be at C&C that night, that would be enough for most reporters.

    264. leopardqueen on June 21st, 2005 12:12 pm

Otis Toole died of AIDS…complications of which were liver damage

Gettng off that topic, if this Natalee case isn’t solved soon, i feel like flying down to Aruba myself & holding a rally
