Paul Reynolds Speaks Out for the Family and Defends Texas EquuSearch

Last night on CNN’s Nancy Grace, Paul Reynolds spoke out for the family and defended the previous search group Texas EquuSearch with all the class, grace and appreciation that I have to know Paul for. Paul Reynolds has been a stand up individual from the beginning providing a stern and forceful message for the family with a level and even keeled temperament that can only be commended.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: And I know that you`ve also brought in a new search team to help look for Natalee. Tell us about that.

REYNOLDS: You know, we welcome everyone that wants to come to the island to help out. There was a search individual from Massachusetts and an associate of his that came in from Florida. You know, we`re appreciative of their efforts.

But we want to make a special mention of all of the efforts that Texas EquuSearch made. You know, those guys spent four weeks on the island. They had 70 people in there. I spent a week myself working with them personally.

You know, this is a great group of dedicated professionals that have volunteered to leave their homes, and their families, and their jobs, and come down there and, you know, put forth this effort. And they along with the hundreds and almost thousands of others have been just a great asset to our family and the search.

In speaking with Paul Reynold’s the other day I know how hurt he was and just utterly amazed by the insensitivity and foolishness of the comments that were made toward TES. Paul Reynold’s during our lengthy conversation told me that Jim Knox had embarrassed himself, the family and the investigation. To be a fly on the wall during the telephone conversation between Paul Reynolds and Jim Knox.

In the half dozen or so times I have spoke with Paul and the 9 days in Aruba that I got to know Natalee’s uncle I certainly came to know him and know the appreciation he has for all the searchers that came to help his family. Natalee’s family has always been in search and need of help as the disappearance of Natalee in Aruba gets to be overwhelming at times. The help I was able to provide Paul and his family he certainly made me aware of his appreciation. Thus on CNN last night Paul Reynolds further went on to say regarding his deep appreciation for Texas EquuSearch’s help and his hope that the new search team will do just as good a job.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, I hate to bring this up, because it could be a little bit of a distraction from the investigation, but I have to, because it is being talked about tonight. There is some sort of reported spat between the first search team and the second one.

Why is that? What do you know about it?

REYNOLDS: You know, I can`t really explain that. All I can really let you know is Texas EquuSearch did a great job. You know, I know Tim Miller. I spent a lot of time with him. I`ve met a lot of the search guys. Some of them go to the church that I go to.

Great individuals. I know they did a good job. And, you know, I`m hoping the new people that are there — I`m hoping they do just as good a job.

The Serving Size Myth

John Stossel has a great article today on the lies food companies will tell you to get you to buy their products. When you look at the nutrition label on the back of the food you buy, can you understand it? I sure has heck can not.

On countless food packages, serving sizes have become a confusing joke.

I bought a frozen “personal pizza.” That’s what it said on the package, in big letters.  From the name (and its size-it’s not very big), you would think a “personal pizza” is for one person — say, you. But according to the small print, it can feed both you and some other person: The serving size listed on the label is half a pie.

We took the “personal pizza” downtown to Little Italy in New York City for some expert opinions.

”I don’t think you could share this with anybody!” said Francesco of Sal’s Pizzeria.

One pizza baker said if he offered one of these little pizzas to his customers, “They’d throw it back in my face!”

Most people we talked to couldn’t believe the recommended serving size for the “personal pizza.” One young woman said, “My cat could eat that.”

There are so many lies out there that we run into every day. Why does every marketer feel that we will want to buy their product more if they lie to us. Seriously, I could see a product doing very well that says “Hey, we are not the best nutritionally, but we are telling you the truth.”

Natalee’s Grandmother Speaks Out

In an interview done by Rita Cosby of MSNBC Natalee Holloway’s grandmother, Christene Holloway, speaks out regarding her missing grand daughter and dealing with talking to her son Dave Holloway during these difficult times. (Full transcript and video)

RITA COSBY, HOST ‘LIVE & DIRECT’: Mrs. Holloway, how do you get through the ups and downs, the daily ups and downs of this case?

CHRISTENE HOLLOWAY, NATALEE HOLLOWAY‘S GRANDMOTHER: Well, it‘s just with the help of God. I have a great faith. All of my family does. And we pray every day for Natalee. And that‘s where we get our strength.

Dave Holloway has been a pillar of emotional strength during this ordeal and it has not been until recently that the magnitude of the stress has shown. In meeting and talking to Dave one first notices the cool and calm demeanor but also then sees the unmistakable determination and passion in his eyes. Which has made it all the more difficult to have recently seen during an interview a father break down and become emotional. Natalee’s grand mother goes on during her interview to talk about Natalee’s similarities to her dad and difficulties on Dave Holloway that only a mother could know and understand.

COSBY: You know, many of us feel like we know her. We‘ve seen, you know, so many pictures of her. What a beautiful girl. Tell us a little bit about her, what made her just such a special granddaughter to you.

HOLLOWAY: Well, she was always special. She had that quick grin, just like her dad. She looks a lot like her dad. And she‘s always been quiet. She‘s—she was just a fantastic granddaughter.

COSBY: Speaking of—you know, you talked about your son. I understand it‘s hard for to you talk to your son about the details of this case. Why is that?

HOLLOWAY: Yes, it is, because I know he‘s hurting. It‘s been hard on all of us.

Brother Roger , Founder of the Taize Community, Murdered

From Swiss Info

The Swiss-born founder of the Taizà © ecumenical community, Brother Roger, has died after being attacked during a religious service.

Police said a woman stabbed the 90-year-old cleric three times in the throat during the service at the Taizà © community in eastern France. He died immediately.

A 36-year-old Romanian woman was overpowered by worshipers and detained.Around 2,500 mainly young people were attending the service when the attack happened.

Brother Roger was one of the leading ecumenical figures of the Th century.

A Protestant pastor from western Switzerland, he enjoyed great respect among religious leaders and Pope John Paul II visited his monastic community.

A spokesman for the Taizà © community said the woman approached Brother Roger during the service but was not noticed because the brothers had their backs to her. “We heard a cry, turned around and it was already done.”

Pope Benedict said on Wednesday that he was shocked by the “terrifying” murder of Brother Roger.

Brother Roger was considered one of the more influential religious leaders in Europe. This is another example of the madness that is out there. What could compel a woman to murder a 90 year old cleric.
