MSNBC Interviews Joran in Prison

Scared Monkeys has learned from our sources that MSNBC got into the prison today and interviewed Joran Van Der Sloot on film. An emergency court hearing was held tonight and the Judge ordered at Million Florin Fine if they use the footage. That is approximately $600,000 USD.

According to Matt Drudge, the NBC Network may be kicked off Aruba for their filming of Joran Van Der Sloot in jail. Rita Crosby just had film of the jail and the warden with a header that the Aruban court said that images of Joran could not be broadcast.

From Drudge:

FLASH: NBC is being thrown off the island of Aruba for unethical newsgathering, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT. Network being accused of shooting video of Holloway suspect in jail — unknown to him. ‘Very concerned’ over at NBC, says a top source… Developing...

It is Scared Monkeys opinion that it would be very surprising for NBC or MSNBC to be kicked off the island over this incident.

UPDATE: MSNBC Issues Statement on Jail Incident

STATEMENT: ‘NBCNEWS is closely monitoring the situation in Aruba. Our legal representative participated in tonight’s court proceedings. We respect the court’s order and therefore we will not broadcast the videotape of Joran van derSloot from inside the prison tonight. However, NBC News did, in fact, have permission to be inside the prison’…

Scared Monkeys feels that by not airing the video this will most likely allow NBC to remain on the island.

Update: 10:04 CDT: AP gets to reporting the story, Aruba judge to network: Don’t show suspect
