Van Der Sloot was the most condesending arrogent and somewhat powerful attitude of any 17 year old I have ever seen.
Beth said that she wanted to see my daughter, now. He just threw his head back and hit his chest.
What do you want me to do. What do you want me to do.

Joran baby and his two playmates are going to get theirs. The US of A would go ape-shit if these guys get out. And a light sentence would not be tolerable either.
Makes me wonder what kind of retribution they can look forward to from the families if they ever are released, say 30 years from now. That would make Natalee 48, which she probably will never be.
For me, I would make it my mission in life to make sure I could within arms reach of each of them. And no one would ever know – except them.

Natalee’s mom approach to Joran probably shut down any possibility of anything but a defensive response.
She was understandably highly emotional state, and the best I can say it, was she probably was throwing a tantrum. Anyone around her who felt accused would likely respond negatively, and that is exactly what Joran and family probably did.
Too bad the police did not take Joran in right on the spot to interview him without Natalies family present.
All this hatred and venom is not good.
Neil – Joran hasn’t talked in 3 weeks – i don’t think kissing his butt with kindness is the answer. He’s clearly a spoiled rotten limp XXXX punk. I don’t care if Natalee’s mom spit in his pathetic face – he deserves it. He’s very well coached in not talking. Her reaction won’t impact him either way. You’d have to be human to sympathize with an agonizing mother – this kid isn’t human and doesn’t deserve humane treatment.
The other two guys are in this two. I don’t understand why we don’t know more about them. There mommy and daddy and whatever else they’ve done in their pasts.

The incident that made Beth say Joran was cold, etc. took place the early morning after Beth arrived in Aruba, maybe 24 hours after Natalie was last seen at C&C. So it was not a matter of three weeks of kindness.
I think Beth came on like gangbusters and the possibility of any further rational conversation ended right there. This is what I am referring to and not the three weeks of inadequate police work.
Mob hangings have more than once resulted in injustice, so we really need to let the justice system take its course, as plodding as it is. Maybe Joran is guilty of something, maybe not. There are many possibilities, and we can only speculate, so I think it is a little early to get out the rope, or to even take glee in imagining that Joran or his pals are suffering prison brutality.
I feel for Natalee’s family and friends; clearly their suffering is great. Prematurely lashing out serves no function. In time I think that whoever caused Natalee harm will receive what the Dutch legal system thinks is justice.

Two daughters, now in their late 30′s, plus four grandchildren 13 thru 3.
No real serious danger. We live in a small midwestern town, population 1800, and the teenagers cruise town on non school nights as part of the social scene, hanging out at different homes or at the local quick stop parking lot. Both our daughters always came home at an agreed upon time or called for a small extension and we never worried. My younger daughter did not come home once when scheduled, and I did feel panic. By 2:00 am I woke up the local cop to see if he had heard anything, and then started calling my daughters friends. Turns out that my daughter and her friend had fallen asleep watching a movie at her friends house.
All I have to say is that as a mother Beth Twitty is in my thoughts. I hope that your little girl is okay. I hope that Joran rots in prison for letting anything bad happen to Natalee, even if he just let her lay there on the beach sleeping as he said, he should have gotten her to her hotel safely. I don’t believe him for one minute. I think that you have him pegged. I hope that you find her safe and alive.
As a professor of forensic psychology, i believe this case is unlikely to be solved by the Aruban police. They have obtained no forensic evidence that i am aware of. There is also no body to be found which, in most criminal cases, is the single most important piece of evidence to analyze/profile. Additionally, while an investigation is going on, you never, ever allow anyone related to a victim speak with a suspect. never, ever. With a skilled interrogator, i.e. the US FBI/Quantico contingent… you might still be able to get the truth from one of the three boys. But, the fact that there appears to be no evidence, weekens the position of interrogator considerably. From a purely psychological point of view based on statements made by all three parties (Van Der Sloot and the 2 brothers) that i have read, i would place the highest probability of guilt on J. Van Der Sloot. However, in a court of law, probability and proof are entirely 2 different phenomena.
Mrs. Twitty is a strong person, I trust her instincts about the rat. He is guilty and he is lying to cover up so as to avoid more harsh punishment. It is incredible to me that someone would think that wanting to get to the truth about what happened to their child is equivalent to “mob justice”. The problem is that justice in the Dutch system may mean that the defendants are aquitted and the truth will never be known. How many other “date rapes” have occurred and been ignored by the Aruban authorities? Who would want to hang around to press charges if she survived it? Interesting that all of the perps are sons of “respected” and well-to-do Aruban “businessmen” and judges in waiting. Could the inaction and delay have something to do with that fact?
Just heard that an imbecilic Aruban “police officer” said that Natalee’s family needs to be polygraphed in case they are hiding something.
What pond scum do these creatures come from?? With that attitude, we should realize that it is not our imagination when we perceive that the investigation is proceeding haphazardly.

I don’t think anyone should criticize Natalee’s mother. Being “ladylike” is NOT important right now.
I question the single interpretation of Joran Van Der Sloot’s behavior as arrogance. It’s possible that he just didn’t know where Natalee was and was reacting to her mother’s anger and insistence. I wasn’t there and I don’t know, I’m just saying that that could have explained his demeanor as well as the other theories.
I may have missed this somewhere, but I am curious as to why the 2 brother’s car haven’t been taken in ~
In all reports and statements that I’ve seen or heard, it has been said that the 2 brother’s dropped off Joran and Natalee.
This would leave one to believe that it was their vehicle that was driven, not Joran’s. Accordng to the law there, Joran is not a licensed driver yet.
This whole thing smacks of a cover-up and stupidity on the part of the Aruban’s investigating this tragedy ~
I don’t know how the Holloway’s have made it this far. Pure will and determination. I don’t know that I could have been as restrained with punk a** JVS as she was. Even if he did not have a thing to do with Natalee’s disappearance, his arrogant attitude was uncalled for and it seems as if he almost wanted to taunt her mom. What kid would act like that? That’s what bothers me — his Joe Cool act when the parents drove up — he and the Kalpoe(s) were casually leaning on a car and then he pops off at her like that? It leads me to believe that he was very sure of himself; cocky and not in the least worried about anything.
I think that one of two things happened here with there seeing each other she said she was sitting in the car and holding a picture of Natalee and he approached the car and that is when, she said I want my daughter and I want her now, and then JV get’s arrogant and throws his head back and hits his chest and say what do you want me to do, What do you want me to do, this gives me the impression that he was Very sure of himself that what he did will never be known and he will get off scott free because people helped cover it up or He got very agitated and stressed out because he was tired of the questions and being interrogated and he really didn’t know anything. But if I am guessing it would be the first theory I am pretty sure this kid knows something because if you were not gulity then why would you not proclaim your innocence to the victim’s mother any way you could and tell her how sorry you are that this has happened. and what about the other 2 the brothers why has nothing been said about them, especially from there parents the only thing I have heard was on Greta last night when that man that was showing Greta around said that the mother of the 2 brothers was very sad because she thinks her boys are innocent. This is the most bizarre thing I have ever seen, This whole thing is just too much and I hope that they find Natalee and what happened to her soon, those four obviously know something or they wouldn’t be in prison!
For the 50th time, I will ask: what is up with a reward? If it’s set high enough and no worthy leads emerge, then we know that the only parties involved are the ones already detained.
It’s human nature: big rewards lead to tips. So again: why isn’t the flush Aruban gov’t and tourist industry ponying up?
Pride, for the Van der Sloots, goes before their destruction. Regardless of where this goes from now on they will be recognized through out the world as the family who covered up a murder for their son because dear old dad was a judge. They have lost any credibility anywhere because rarely has anyones names been so publicized. His dad should take the responsibility for all of it as to how he raised his son. Obviously, the mother is aloof. I feel sorry for the siblings on both sides. Neither families will ever be the same.
Also, I believe the Croes fellow may be there for the reward money. He may have allowed Joran to use the smaller boat owned by the party boat company to take care of the body. He may not have helped in anyother way and may be held for his own protection and for his testimony. He is not charged with any crime thus far. So yes, the reward may have brougth out a witness.
I feel so bad for Beth Twitty, what I think happened is that Natalee was snatched after
she had been profiled and sold into BlackMarket. There has been no body located and I think the three friends targetd her and choose her They were seen as several places that the class visited. I feel that there will never be a body located because she is not dean but rather sold into Prostitution. The Aruba governement will not solve this case because they are inept and the boys are all from wealthy families who are covering for there children.

It’s all too sad and weird to contemplate, stranger by the minute. I truly feel sad for Aruba (not in a defensive way regarding the process, which I think has been slow and frustrating ) but it’s a locale like anywhere else where you’ve got good folks and bad folks. Shame these kids will be responsible for all but shutting down a huge part of their tourism business if not all of it. Local kids by all respects, who somewhere along the line should have been told you don’t $hit where you eat. Generations of people who worked hard to make Aruba a paradise for many, flushed down the toilet by some ego empowered and self entitled punks who’ve been handed everything they ever wanted. i saw beth on anderson cooper last night. she is getting more and more frustrated, and with good reason. she wasn’t able to go in to detail on a lot of issues. i’m assuming because it would compromise the case and investigation. but from the way she talked, it seems they are telling her not to answer certain questions, but in turn they aren’t giving her any information. i don’t think she is getting any assurance from the aruban police on this. i would be hard pressed not to tell everything i know to the media just to find answers on my own.
that is true about the reward. money will bring people out of the woodwork. and the fact that you can claim it anonymously is enough for some to come forward.
Beth Twitty is a remarkable woman in my opinion. She vows not to leave Aruba without her daughter and talks of Natalee in the present tense; not the past. She truly exemplifies the unconditional love of a Mother for her child and will go to any length in order to find her missing child.

Is anyone else starting to think the suspects strategy is put out as many different stories as they can so that none of them can be viewed as credible and hence eventually they all walk. There is a rumour of a third story now by the boys that they all left her alone at the Mariott – also Joran’s dad has apparantly said he picked up his son at 3 am at McDonalds. Thoughts?

In watching the interview with Beth, do you still think that NH is alive? I mean did you get the feeling from her mom that the info we are not getting, that she is, leads her to think that? What does your relative in the FBI think?
This should be a very sad lesson for every traveler. If you leave this wonderful country of ours, this could happen to you and your family. There are many wonderful places to see without leaving the ‘protection’ of the United States. I will never leave my country again, period. Godspeed for Natalee’s return to her home, the USA.

I don’t think this case is going anywhere – I have heard Satish and Croes are likely to be released before the week is out. Unless NH is found alive or a body is found I don’t think this case ever goes to trial.

Kris, my realtive is not down there working the case; I was just asking for their expertise in the situation. There is the theory that she has been taken (against her will of course) to another island for prostitution. If so, the Mother would not be permitted to share any of the info with the media for fear it would jeopardize the case. In speaking of her daughter in present tense does lead one to think that she could still be alive. I hope this is the case as I’m sure the rest of the world does also.

crs-they were discussing it on a nancy grace type news show. they think that even the husband was in on this and it was all a get rich quick thing. for him to never have been really upset that she was missing, makes sense to me! they need to just disappear.
Cancon – totally playing devils advocate and I do not really believe this but wish to present it as another point of view but imagine the middle of the night- these arrogant americans showing up at your door probably throwing accusations left and right at the Van Der Sloots – by the mothers own admission she yelled at Joran and said “I want my daughter back now” – I could see where they would be nasty back.
I am a fan of Law & Order Criminal Intent and I love the way those detectives are able to read when people are lying or not – I think most people have good gut reactions most of the time but then when you deal with liars all the time and conversely people in real grief, you finely tune those gut reactions……..
It would not shock me if the runaway bride and fiance planned the whole thing at all – she has the craziest eyes i have ever seen and I hope this special has no one watching.
well look at the case of this missing boy scout, if you want to talk about another troubling case and this is in the US, they haven’t found a trace of that boy yet either, and they’ve had massive searches since he went missing, now he has only been missing since Friday but if he is still alive, you have to step up the search because of the elements or if he’s been kidnapped by a pedophile

hey- I have been out of the loop for a couple of days. Quick question- Was Van Der Sloot Natalee’s “new friend” “boyfriend” or whatever they call it now a days. I quess you could ask was she “talking” to him? I know this is petty; but, I have absolutly no information on Natalee with the exception of the stuff in the headlines (straight A student, etc.) The friend aren’t talking (see my intial post a few days ago for my theories) and the mother acts like she knows nothing about the trip or what went on the night she was last seen (sure, sure, sure- she knows not to say anything that might reflect negatively on the friends if she wishes to live in peace back in Alabama when ,and if, this thing is ever concluded). I don’t know if I am alone in this; but, something doesn’t seem right (from either camp- Victim and Suspect). Natalee’s mother says that this Van Der Sloot is an arrogant jerk; but, this is the same guy that her daughter (who friends say would never ever, ever, ever, ever spend time with anyone or do anything that was not perfectly upright) knew on some level before that night (my instinct would tell me that more than a coulple of recentley developed photos have been “lost” by the friends that show Natalee and Van Der Sloot looking quite the dashing couple). That is just my gut feeling. I don’t know what happened. I don’t know if Van Der Sloot is guilty of a crime. I do know from experience that girls like guys that are jerks (many times to their detriment). What might seem like an obvious character flaw to a mother is an enduring quality to a teen girl. The tragic level of this event will be compounded if others (young girls) don’t learn (or at least hear) the lesson to be gained by this situation- “arrogant, cocky, slick guys will always choose himself when the heat is on- don’t ever, ever, ever think that he will do what is right in the end”. I feel that this lesson will never be protrayed in the media because we will never know what happend on that trip prior to Natalee leaving Carlos-n-Charlies.

I was just repeating something that Aruba girl had said….that someone else said the father of Joran was at McDonald’s at 3am, and she had said it closes at 1am. And he drives too….so why would his dad pick him up at that time if he has his own car and drives? I still think it’s a rumor.
I have been hearing so much about this prostitution claim, is there a high possibilty of her being sold by these three guys, its just crazy to think that young boys could do such a thing, well I mean if she was murdered by one of them they are capable of anything, but what I am really asking is, is it a high possibility of her being sold and if so I would assume they were PAID, but the 3 boys are wealthy on the island so if so, y would they do it?
And Natalee’s mother was looking through her photos on her digital camera, there were bound to be pics of her and Joran together….if they hung out as much as everyone said they did.

however, since Natalee was reported missing by at least 11:00 am, why hadn’t the Aruban police tracked down Joran themselves before the Holloways actually arrived in Aruba by 11:00 pm
and perhaps the Van Der Sloots should consider how they would feel if one of their children went missing and the police weren’t doing anything about it…….most people would have some compassion and realize why these people are upset, I still think you would react with trying to be helpful rather than being rude, even if you are perfectly innocent

actually Joran is not old enough to drive, he doesn’t have his licence yet even thought that hasn’t stopped him from driving and getting caught doing so, and on that night, the Kalpo brothers were driving Joran around, if they dropped him off at that beach with Natalee his only ways home were to walk or catch a ride or taxi with someone else……

I wish that I had seen Beth Twitty on Greta last night. I have been following this very closely, as I was just a chapperone for my son’s senior trip to the Western Carribean. We made the kids stay in small groups at all times with 2 or more classmates, because it is frightening to see how the American girls seem to be honed in and followed around by men on the islands. Our experience was awesome, but a few times one girl in particular did manage to ditch the group briefly, and when caught up with, was always found with 2 – 3 men from the island trying to lure her away. This girl was incredibly naive but liked the attention. I fear that Natalee was the victim of ones who prey on girls like her, and that her family may never know the truth. They are at the mercy of a government that has been less than forthcoming with answers, and if a body is never found, these young men will all go free. My heart sincerely goes out to Natalee’s family.

I am trying to catch up with all the news. I haven’t heard anything about VDS sr. picking up Joran at 3 am at the McDonalds, but if true, it would mean that the brothers story is true. They dropped Joran and NH off at the Marriott, and went home. They left Joran alone with her wehre “something bad happened”. I don’t think Joran is smart enough to have gotten a boat from Croes to dispose the body. I think that he called his dad to meet him at the McDonalds, when daddy picked him up, the 17 yr old was in a panic, and daddy told him, “don’t worry, I will take care of everything”. And daddy called Croes and arranged the “borrowing” of the boat. That is why after Croes was taken into custody “as a witness”, he told authorities that he spoke with daddy. That is why they took VDS Sr. in for a 2 hour long questioning. Phone records from all these people would indicate who called who and at what time!

I also read about Daddy Van Der Sloot picking up Joran at 3:00 a.m. from McDonald’s. If this is so, then the DAD KNOWS how the entire nights events took place. The dad is withholding all information to protect his son. Mommy dearest knows what happened too.
Furthermore, daddy has compromised all the evidence JUST SO this case can eventually be thrown out. There is more to this story than meets the eye and when it all comes out watch how HUGE it will be!

Most likely, officials have the correct culprits in custody. But, I can’t help but wonder….IF….before the trip….there was any connection between Natalee and any of these males now in the slammer. Even on vacation, we take ‘personal items’ on our person. If NH left her bags and passport in her room…..what/where/how/when/if…..have happened to her personal items? One thing she probably had, was a room key. Possibly some money.
Working as a correctional officer for many years……has shown me that once a crime has been committed……the word spreads very fast between crimenals as well as their friends, friends of friends, and acquaintances. As they say, “There are NO secrets in Jail”. I have to wonder…..why NO ONE is stepping forward. Natalee’s mother is so pissed. She isn’t being nice anymore, you can tell she’s had it. The rest of the interview is on tonight at 10pm. She said she knows MOST DEFINITELY that they know where her daughter is. She said as soon as she spoke with them between 1 and 4am that she knew they were hiding the truth from her. I can’t believe Joran spoke to her that way. What does he mean, “what do you want me to do”??? Wouldn’t someone who WASN’T guilty say something like, “I am sorry but I don’t know where your daughter is” instead of being so DEFENSIVE and saying what do you want me to do? It seems like he’s suggesting that Natalee is already dead, and he can’t do anything about it. Does anyone remember the Patrick Dennehy case in Texas? The Baylor Univ. BB player murdered by his friend/roommate in 2003. It took 3 weeks to find his body and the US FBI and Texas authorities were ALL OVER Carlton Dotson …the suspect. The FBI drove him so crazy he cracked up and confessed over a LONG DISTANCE phone call from Maryland. Saying “voices he was hearing told him to call and confess”. Good work and unwaivering pressure for the truth works. If only the US FBI were allowed more privileges to interrogate the suspects I would like to think the Holloway case would have been solved by now.

there is a lot of silence involved in this whole thing. it’s my understanding that information is not allowed out to the public due to how their trials go. like it would jeopardize the whole ruling.
I tend to think her clasmates either don’t know much or they don’t want to say something they may be construed as negative about NH.

I had written this on another page a few days ago….but this was my experience when I went to Aruba:
I have been following the Natalee Holloway case since she first dissapeared. My two friends and I went to Aruba for our graduation when we were 18. We had our friends mother and boyfriend with us to “check-in” with us throughout the trip. They stayed in a different part of the hotel, and we were on our own for most of the trip.
We had a very similar experience happen to us that happened to Natalee. We went on the tattoo cruise, and I found a picture of us WITH the man they arrested who works on the boat. Very scary to look at the picture of him with his arms around us, smiling at the camera.
The last night we were in Aruba we went to Carlos and Charlies. We had a man following us around buying us drinks and wanting to hook up with the three of us. We didn’t like him, and we just wanted him to go away. As the night came to an end, and of course after we were all heavily intoxicated, we found ourselves without any money left to take a taxi home. My friend had met Mr. Aruba, and some of his friends, and they offered us a ride. I did not want to go with them, but my friends pushed me to go. I was not about to be left alone at the bar, and I was not going to let my friends out of my sight. We got into a silver honda civic, and I was so frightened that something bad was going to happen to us. You always hear stories…and you never know.
The men brought us back to our hotel after taking a scenic drive around Aruba…and after telling us that they waited for American girls to come to Aruba so that they could hook up with them. They actually GO to hotels and hang around the bars and pools, waiting to meet drunken girls.
I was so happy to be back at our hotel….and to never have to speak to those men again. Watching this story on TV is like watching what could have happened to us. We were foolish, and drunk…and I am sad to say that we knew better, but still went along with the men anyways. I can only hope that Natalee is alive, and I think about her and her friends all the time. No one wants to go to Aruba and have something like this happen. Maybe now everyone will be a little wiser with their choices. I wish I had been.
ALLY IN MIAMI…you’re wrong. Walsh is pretty sure Otis Toole killed Adam but evidence was lost, and Toole died in prison in 1996 of AIDS. they kept Adam’s body so had the ability of DNA testing to test the blood on Otis’s car fibers but the inept Fla. police lost the car!
In the beginning Beth Holloway said she hadn’t talked to any of the kids on the trip..I found that rather strange…but yet she knew exactly where to find Van Der Sleaze…I’m not blaming her at all for protecting these young kids but I do find it troublesome ..she said in the beginning when ask the question about talking to them and what happened that night I believe she said..” this is about Natalee and finding her..its puzzling to me…sounds like some argument with the locals could have occurred..I would never want my daughters reputation smeared but this is beyond worrying about reputations on either side…Lets get to the truth and go from there.

Instead of disputing knowledge about the Bible, keep in mind this forum is about Natalee and her family. Those folks are experiencing something so horrific and unimagineable. Their entire lives have been turned upside down. They have had to leave their jobs, homes, kids, friends and livelihood in search of their beloved Natalee. Not to mention the possible financial drain this will cost. But I am sure money is not of importance because our children are everything to us.
Futhermore dealing with aurthorities somewhere outside of their comfort zone such as Aruba versus the US where they are familiar with laws, jurisdictions and are privy to information relating to NH’s disappearance.

Was/is ….there any possibility that Natalee (or any other students)….had communicated via computer to any of the suspects…before they even went on the trip? Or perhaps posted on the Aruba calendar, the information regarding their trip, arrival dates, and where they were staying?
Have not seen anything on this.

Here is a ‘story’ on Otis O’Toole. It says he died of cirrhosis (not aids), and that he actually confessed to murdering Adam Walsh with details that only THE killer would have known.

i don’t think there was prior contact between natalee and the island boys. i think that joran likes to stay in contact with them once they do leave however. i don’t know the exact news station but they were saying how he is known to exchange email addresses with tourist girls he meets.

I never said I knew, reread my post. I stated that I was informed that his murder was never solved…Again, I stated that I was informed by a colleague and stated that I was too young to have retained information about that crime. I only know about what he does for this country now. I have never claimed to be an expert on this post…which is why i asked you to disseminate more info on Toole..Can we move on now and not obsess about this irrelevant information?

I think that she or family members did talk with the other students. I also remember reading somewhere that the FBI was questioning all of the students on the trip. I would assume that they(other students), would be limited in what they are allowed to say to the press. Just like NH’s mom sometimes saying that she can’t comment on that.
I do also believe that an answer to this horrible event will be coming soon.

The only student talking said last night on Fox that the FBI had not told them that they could not speak about the case. I think the students and chaperones are kind of off limits right now but will most likely come under more criticism later on.

I would still think that even if they(students) were not directly told not to say anything, they were instructed as to how to answer certain questions. I would think that they would want to be very careful so as not to lead the way for the posibility of more rumors. Just my thoughts
Kris..Well, one can only hope it will be solved soon…With so many botched searches of the suspects….letting them go in the beginning and arrested ten days later we can only speculate on how much evidence was destroyed..It galls me when the first two Black men were arrested..shown to the public from the get go ……cars and homes searched and they weren’t even the ones last seen with Natalie…..thats when I knew this was a cover up..You just don’t let the suspects go and they pointed their slimy fingers at two innocent men and they took their word for it..THAT SMELLS…

That is another good point, with the family all busy looking for her–what’s to say that some of the students being interviewed are “friends” with NH. I hate to say this, but I’m thinking it–what if they are looking for their 15min? If someone was on the trip, but did not spend time with her and just happened to be at C&C that night, that would be enough for most reporters.

Was simply thinking…..if information regarding their upcoming trip had been posted on one of the Aruba message boards/calendar sites……there is a possibility that someone could be waiting on ‘new targets’ to arrive. In the excitement of preparing for the trip, security and safety is important….but this is one avenue that might not be given much thought.
I also noted on those sites, that there are people from the USA….and other areas…who are able to be directly emailed.
NH may not have had direct contact w/Anyone from Aruba before arriving. But…there seems to be that possibility…..that there could have been contact.
What easier way, for a predator….to size up their quarry….than watching the message boards/calendars?

I agree – the students are being very careful what they say and I agree that the girl speaking seems to be at best a casual friend of NH and certainly not in her inner circle. MOM – I think they are quite because they do not want anything to be misinterpreted by the news media. i am certain NH is a great girl but let’s be honest no one is perfect and I think this is what they are trying to avoid, if one of these kids got talking and sdaid 100 great things about NH and one slightly negative thing – the negative thing is going to get all the attention.
It doesn’t matter if Natalee was a good girl or a promiscuous girl….she did not deserve what happened to her.

i agree LQueen, she didnt deserve anything and you know what I dont blame her if she did talk a drink or 2, b/c when I first got out of high school I was curious and i wanted to let loose and I think that was what she was doing but maybe not the smart way, but I wasnt there so i dont know, but I know all of us at that point when we left high school and out of our parents jusridiction, we wanted to do as much as possible.

i think they are suing not because their daughter was lost in aruba. i think they are suing because they are being told by aruban police that they are doing all they can to find their daughter and prosecute her kidnappers. but beth knows that isn’t happening at all and wants restitution.

Well Beth is suing to get access to information police collected during their investigation. But the Aruba judge is not going to consider that lawsuit, until after someone has been indicted. For fear it will jeopardize the whole case.
So the lawsuit is just a waste of money.

CRS is right. Checkme told us two days before it happened about the Steve Croes arrest anf the Lorenzo Van Sijn questioning. Also told us from the beginning that Deepak, the cool, calm, calculating Kalpoe has more responsibility than it seemed.

Have we heard anything new? I feel like it’s the same story over and over again. Nothing ever new!!!! Like, I want to hear that they found something, or one of the boys confessed something!!! SOMETHING. What if this case goes on for YEARS??? Hell, it’s already been a month by the end of this week.

If Natalee willingly left Carlos N’ Charlie’s with Joran V., and if she planned to have sex with him, why would they have needed to go to a “lover’s lane”? She had a hotel room. He lived on his own in an apartment attached to his parent’s home. Either place would have provided adequate privacy.
Perhaps planning to have sex is not the right terminology. Realizing that one’s actions are leading up to sex is not necessarily the same as planning; one is active, the other is passive.
So, Natalee leaves with Joran with no conscious decision to have sex. She, with stars in her eyes and knowing that she is leaving the island the next day, just wants to prolong the endorphins that are firing in her brain. On the ride, the sexual heat is turned up for both Natalee and Joran.
Is this a matter only between the two of them? Are the Kalpoe brothers sitting in the front of the car, slightly embarrassed, slightly intrigued, by what is going on in the back seat? Or do they know that Joran will eventually share?
Natalee perhaps realizes that she wants to have sex with Joran. What happens if she is suddenly confronted with the fact that her “lover” is perfectly okay with sharing her with his friends? Does she get upset? Combative? Does it take a little force to make her play nice?
If Natalee was killed, accidentally or otherwise, what was done with her body? If friend Steve was called to help dispose of the body in the ocean, how did they transport it to a boat? The car has yielded no forensic evidence, has it? Could they have totally erased all evidence? Does Aruba have, and use, adequate crime scene data gathering tools and techniques?
Did Joran enlist his father’s help? Surely, his father would have instructed Joran’s mother to tell Joran to keep his mouth shut. If Joran, and the Kalpoe brothers remain silent, and no forensic evidence shows up, they will be eventually freed.
This whole scenario seems so much more likely to me than one that Natalee was lured to sex slave traders. I believe such activities exist, and that it is not out of the realm of possibility that she could have been sold. But I think the money would have shown up by now. I also think that if this happened, Natalee would no longer be alive. If she were too hot to handle because of the news coverage, she’d have been disposed of in such a manner that we will never know what happened to her. If Joran sold her, he’ll keep his mouth shut out of fear of whomever he sold her to; if Joran, or his friends, killed her, he (or they) may confess.
I guess I do believe that Natalee is dead, and that Joran is guilty. I have a lot of trouble seeing that an innocent (yes, to all you prudes, I did say innocent) sexual encounter between Natalee and Joran did not end in Joran escorting Natalee to her hotel room afterwards. Even casual sex, especially between younger people, creates a bond, however temporary, between a couple. At their parting, they’d have both been reluctant to let the other go, if indeed this was a case of boy meets girl, as Joran’s mother wants us to believe.
let’s just go to aruba and figure it out for ourselves…atleast we’ll get the news quicker!

Well, you can only go by the track record. I don’t think that if Checkme were in on this, he/she would be predicting next steps as she/he has. On the contrary, he/she would misinform.

I said before that Aruban officials have drawn three hypotheses in the beginning of their investigation:
-She was murdered by two black guys,
-She accidentally drowned,
-She was removed from the island and sold as slave in a different country.
When they arrested Steve Croes, i knew they were going for the third hypothesis. If Natalee is dead, Aruban officials will make sure the body is never found on the island, and will suggest theories, and certainly blame it on the kalpoes (not the dutch boy). It will hurt their economy if the body is found.

Hi, I really haven’t gotten so involved in something like this before; however, my heart breaks for the parents of this girl. I pray that Natalie will b e found aliv e, even if sold by the Dutch slime buckets into prostitution; innocent people don’t behave so evasi vely; I have two sons, if one of them was involved in any such behavior, I would do everything I could to assist the parents of the girl who has gone missing; this is the human nature of a parent. If the V DS are so certain their son is innocent, why not do everything they can to try and help Natalie’s parents find their daughter.
Why are they so closed mouthed in protecting their son if he had nothing to do with her disappearance? In my estimation, they know their son is involved, whether he actually is responsible for Natalie’s disappearance, he knows where she is. My reaction to them would be to help your young son become a responsible citizen, spend time in prison for his part in this, and possibly come out a different person; one that knows the difference between what is and isn’t acceptable in life that his parents’ didn’t take the time to instill in him. It isn’t always easy for parents to be disliked by their children when they lay down rules to teach their kids; God made us parents to instill the right thing to do in raising our kids. We can still be there for our kids in spite of some mistakes they make; but they must learn from their mistakes, otherwise it will only become compounded when they have their own children. I think the Vander Sloots can help their son by telling the truth; he is a young man who can learn from his grave mistakes, and become a better citizen in his middle age.
I love Aruba, have vacationed there many times, and find it such a peaceful area. However, perhaps it is the privileged people that arrive from Holland, etc. that have dirtied it up. My advice to the VDS, make a man of your son, let him admit what he did, his life will be finished if he gets off scott free from this crime he obviously played a big part in anyway; would you rather he be found innocent and people that will carry a grudge will possibly make him suffer more than his time in prison will carry.
I pray for both families, I hope that Natalie is found alive, and her family can rest with the suffering she has gone through and can help her deal with. Also, I pray that the VDS are strong enough to teach their son a lesson by letting him pay for his sins, and when he is released from prison , he can become a roll model that can counsel others what not to do.
Sometimes life seems unfair, but to allow someone, even one of our children to get away with such a crime doesn’t make good parents; we have to teach our children the right thing to do whether they shoplift a box of crayons from a store or are involved in a crime the likes of which the young VDS IS OBviously guilty of. Why else would parents not join together to help find a person who obv iously was a “friend” of their child? I somehow think the Aruban police have their hands tied when it comes to investigating the crimes of a Dutch Citizen; how unfair is this? Perhaps we should be contacting the Holland (dutch) Government to get results.

There was another person questioned and then released. I believe that this is lorenzo, rujor has it that it is Joran’s 1/2 brother. Paul VDS had an affair prior to his marriage with Joran’s mother and Lorenzo was the outcome of that affair.

A source on the island tells me that he has confirmed that Joran was seen having a cream and wires attached to him in his location at the jail this evening and his interrogation continues while the two Kalpoe brothers have been taken to the prison, as has been previously reported.
Addtionally, it was stated that it is possible that the youngest Kalpoe, Satish may even be released as it is thought he might not have as direct a connection to events as some others. That has not been confirmed with another source at this time.
I have also heard that some have said the boys have changed their statement yet, again – suggesting that Natalee was left alone at the beach after becoming hysterical at the beach near the Marriot. If true, this version of a statement suggests that the elder Kalpoe, Deepak, dropped off both Joran and Satish before returning to the beach, where he was reportedly unable to find Natalee Holloway.
As this clearly departs from statements attributed to the Paulus Van der Sloot that he picked up Joran at a McDonalds at approximately 3 AM, it apears that so many statements have either come out, or are alleged to have come out of this case, that not a single one can be relied upon as true, or even confirmed at this time.
Update: Forgot to mention that it was also relayed to me that Joran v d Sloot would not join the two Kalpoe brothers at the prison, but would remain where he is being held. When I asked if that was because of his status as a minor, there was no clear answer. It was suggested that it could be that, or that it was so his questioning could be continued.
So many keep asking why she got in the car – I’m recalling some things now that came out in the first reports. Her friends said she got in a taxi. I have since read that the taxis look just like regular cars. Could it be that Joran offered to “help her get a taxi” that turned out to be his taxi-driver looking friends, the Kalpoes. Islanders say it’s common knowledge that Croes dealed in “roofies”. I follow the theory that a “roofie” was slipped into her drink at C’n'C’s. That also supplies Croes with a motive to help in hiding a body, to cover his own hide, too. I have thought and expressed to family members that from Moment One I thought Papa Van der Slut was involved in this. Would like confirmation on the 3 am rendevous
just a thought–maybe the Holloways do know what is going on and check me is right. If Natalie is alive in South America she would continue to be alive, as long as they believe that we are still blaming the Arubans and these boys of murder. They have been recently even more elusive about this case. If the South Americans have observed via media and “networking” that we are on to them Natalie will be found dead. I think Juron wanted to have sex w/ her and the 2 brothers just watched. Afterall, Mr. Holloway did say on the news the other day that negotiations were being laid out. God willing please let her be alive.

The story about Natalee being left alone on the beach does fit with a comment made by a blogger a few days ago either here or @ Riehl World that stated he saw a person that fit Natalee’s discription in front of him in at the Marriott’s ATM the night she went missing. He said she was very upset and unable to get money…he further indicated that he had reported it to Marriot hotel personnel because her behavior was so distressing…he said that he observed her for about 20 minutes.

There were (and still are) many accusations towards the Aruba justice system as being discriminating against classes. My thought now is what about NH’s family using it’s status to force such an expenditure to “find” NH. Don’t get me wrong, I think every list child/person should get this attention. But I do not believe that a “lower class” child/person in the States gets as much attention as NH. That is a form of class discrimination. The Dutch (I believe) go overboard often to ensure that there is no discimination going on, reverse discrimination. The States has the same. Somebody screems “Racial profiling” or “discrimination” everybody jumps and starts working. I guess my point is to shed some light on the other side of all this name calling and hopefully open some minds. The world reflects our soul.

When I went to Aruba, I had my Visa check card….never had any problems with it before. I was told I could use it in Aruba-NO problems. All of my friends could use theirs, but when I went to withdraw cash at the ATM at our hotel, the card would not work. I was sofrustrated, I kept trying it again and again. Then we went out to dinner, and I tried to put dinner on the card, it still wouldn’t work. When I got home, my bank said things like that can happen in other countries. Maybe that’s what really happened to the girl who looked like Nat?

I saw the bloggers comments a few days ago about a girl at an ATM machine fitting NH’s description the night of her disappearance. The girl was very upset that she could not withdraw money and appeared scared and upset at an ATM in the Marriott. The man who witnessed this was from Boston.
Beth Twitty is getting daily updates from the US FBI however, she cannot comment to the media about any new developments as to not interfere with any progress on the investigation. What information she is getting is more lies and changing of stories abd this is the families reason for filing a lawsuit. The FBI is in the room with the Aruban authorities on each and every interrogation from each suspect. This is exactly why the mom says there will be more arrests.
I’m sure the checked the surveillence cameras to see if that was her….and if it was in fact her, the theory of a kidnapping comes into play. maybe they also saw the man/men standing around waiting for her to complete the transaction. they won’t release it because they don’t want the public to know it was an abduction until they can get Natalee away from them. does it not make perfect sense? but then again, think back to the elizabeth smart case……all of america had the men in her family involved in some kind of homosexual ring.

Holloway’s friends to hold fund-raising cookout to aid search
Friends of Natalee Holloway are throwing a fund-raising cookout at noon today at the Mountain Brook Community Church on U.S. 280.
Proceeds from the hourlong event will go toward the cost of the search for the missing teen, who disappeared on a trip to Aruba more than three weeks ago. Fellow graduates of Mountain Brook High School who were also on the trip are hosting the event, said Marcia Twitty, Holloway’s aunt.
“Some of Natalee’s buddies on the trip wanted to do this, and they’ll probably do things like this until Natalee’s home,” she said.
Aruban authorities are still searching for Holloway, who missed her flight back to Birmingham on May 30.
The community will gather at 1 p.m. for a prayer service after the cookout.
There is also a fund set up for the recovery effort. To contribute, go to any AmSouth bank or mail to Natalee Holloway Trust, AmSouth Bank, P.O. Box 11426, Birmingham, AL 35202. Specify on the check that the donation is for the search effort.
Members of Holloway’s family have said they are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.
“Everybody wants to help, and little things like this make people feel like they’re contributing,” Twitty said. “If we come together as a community, we can find more of these missing children.”

Checkme and CRS: The kidnapping thing seems plausible if we believe what one of the Kalpoe brothers said in jail..that something bad happened to her and they thought she would just show up on a beach or crackhouse in a couple days. But if that’s the case, why make up stories (and blame the 2 security guards initially). Why do the Kalpoes say they dropped Juron off w/ NH first and Juron insists that he was dropped off first and that the brothers left w/ the Kalpoes. If they merely handed her over to the kidanappers, or let the kidnappers take her, they could easily have said that ‘some thugs’ got here. There would be no reason for them to change their stories around. Or is there?

Natalee died in the hands of Joran. She overdosed on a drug given to her by the boys. They believe that Croes sold them the drugs. C’mon people. You think the boys would agree to remain in prison and keep changing their stories to save the kidnappers? They could easily have just said that “some bad guys” took her away from the beach. Give me a break…I think these kidnappers have access to the internet and cable news as well and are tracking this case. Unfortunately she was not alive once found. The Holloway-Twitty family just wants to take Natalee home.

The viewpoint that the 3 Aruban guys did something to Natalee on their own seems to be the prevalent one. However, what if other people were involved. Maybe these three guys were actually just the front-men for her abduction. Suppose they were on a scouting mission from day one — spotting her when she arrived there, and starting to befriend her in advance of her last night, in order to set her up for the abduction. On the fateful evening, they (or the bartender?) slips a date-rape drug into her drink. (Note that her friends have stated publicly in interviews on television that she wasn’t drinking much and wasn’t intoxicated when she left the bar; but Deepak Kalpoe alledgedly told one of the released security guards that Natalee “was very, very drunk”. This is consistent with her being slipped a date-rape drug at some point). She leaves with them … out to the lighthouse they go, and she vanishes without a trace.
Maybe what really happened wasn’t about them raping her … maybe they deilivered her to other guys who were waiting at the lighthouse. Why would they do that? Maybe they received drugs in exchange, or cash for their gambling activities … Maybe they had gambling debts, and this was a way to settle them …
And, so they delivered an incapacitated girl to the rest of the “team” that was waiting for her arrival … Her captors load her on a boat that night … and she’s gone, without a trace. The guys who took her off the island don’t care about ransoming her … she’s worth more to them as a soon-to-be-exploited sex slave … either in a bordello, or sold to a private buyer … to be kept under lock and key, and sexually abused ad infinitum …
If this actually happened (and there is sex trafficking in the Caribbean and South America, just a stone’s throw away), then Natalee’s last night on Aruba was just the beginning of a real hell for her …
And as far as the 3 guys in jail are concerned, this was a “business transaction”, not a rape. Maybe that’s why they can’t confess to what they did … because what they did is so shocking even by Aruban standards. And maybe they even fear the rest of the organization they were working with — that they would be targeted for reprisal, if they say what really happened.
If these guys are really so “young and naive” as some bloggers suggest, why are they so being so uncooperative ? Maybe this whole story is a lot more sinister, and a lot bigger than we have been led to believe.

“Noord” is an area in Aruba. It’s the residential area North of the palm beach, the strip with all the hotels. Traditionally the fishermen lived there but that is a long gone era. I heard on the radio that there has been “suspicious movements” going on there, that the radio knows about but cannot divulge, certainly fueling more speculation. However, we do need to pay attention because they tend to be right. I can conclude that the authorities have tight control over the media here.

The north west coast of South america is covered by Colombia and Venezuela directly east of it. Aruba is 30 miles from the coast of Venezuela, pretty close to the border between Venezuela and Colombia.

There’s a difference between (1) some thugs kidnapping and snatching her away at the beach, while the 3 kids were present, versus (2) the 3 kids knowingly selling or giving her away, which requires much more planning and sophistication that the 3 kids may have had. If anything, # 1 is more plausible, in which case the DJ and dad don’t have any real info to offer to the investigators. Also articles and letters telling what a kind, wonderful person she was, how she was such a brilliant student, how proud she and her family were of her graduation, etc. Let them know what a wonderful person they destroyed. I think, if they have any conscience or humanity, they will all be sobbing in their cells.

Checkme, in one sense I agree with you. The folks from Mountain Brook do have money, connections, and status. They know who to call in order to get results. I live close enough to MB to have asked my 20 year old son if he knows Natalee. (He doesn’t.)
On the other hand, the “States” is a big place. Different regions have different ways of dealing with issues. The Deep South has taken a bad rap, some justified, on countless social issues from the days of the American Civil War. Nevertheless, right or wrong, there is one thing you can count on from us rednecks. No matter what our social standing or economic status, when it comes to keeping, saving, getting back our own, we are fearless. And that applies to mothers as much, if not more, than to anyone else. It is Beth who is driving this effort. She means what she says. She is not leaving until she finds her daughter. Money be damned.
I am, right now, watching the amazing news coverage of Greta and Beth going into the Van der Sloot home and speaking with Joran’s parents. I hope that mother to mother this is resolved with good result to both families. It won’t bother me at all if this turns out to be another “runaway bride” case. Natalee can do community service for the next 100 years if she has been hiding out, and her parents can take out a loan for an amount equal to, or greater than, the Aruban GNP to pay the legal fees and defamation of character lawsuits, as long as, Natalee comes back home safe.

Equusearch is from the Houston area. Actually, they are south of Houston. Frequently, they are called in for difficult searches. It is not a good sign, particularly, that they have been called in because they often find bodies, not living people. However, they have also found missing kids. The head of the organization was interviewed on Houston news. He said that he didn’t have high hopes of finding Natalee alive. This is based on his previous experience, I’m sure. Their work is supported by donations. Equusearch lets the public know when they need more money for a search. Aruba will likely be an expensive trip.
I agree with a whole bunch of you that this situation is a lot more complicated and evil than is being let on. With no disrespect to the good people of the Carribean, there is a lot of ‘traffic’ that goes on down there, of all kinds.

I believe Beth Holloway is a fake. Don’t you guys see. She is a calm and cool, she is not in the least as devastated as she pretends to be. There is a lot more going on here than people think. What the hell kind of parent allows a teen to go off to an island to get drunk, take drugs, and have sex with multiple partners? I pray every day the news starts reporting the real crimes of this world. Like a phoney war that has already killed tens of thousands.
I get very annoyed at all Americans would want to ‘demand’ the dutch government anything. Maybe you all should have a good look at the Dutch legal system and it’s history. And as for the FBI, if a Dutch/Aruban person in the US gets missing, we do not demand the US government to get Dutch help.
The investigation is still going on and it’s a difficult case. In the Netherlands a suspect is innocent untill proven guilty, and I thought you Americans believed that as well. No body is found yet, and it isn’t clear what happened that night either. Why do all you people think you know the truth? I’d stay: stop harming the Aruban tourism industry with dumb and false statements and start showing some respect to other countries (with different legal systems, where people DO respect human rights and where people DON’T let their emotions get in the way of judgement).
Of course I feel for the mother of the missing girl. She must me going through hell. But acting the way she does now, doesn’t help anyone. On the contrary.
