As City of Detroit Declares Bankruptcy … New $444 Million Hockey Arena for Red Wings Still a Go

This is what happens when you put liberals in charge … the complete destruction of a US city in 50 years.

Welcome to crony capitalism … The city of Detroit is in financial ruin, has become the largest city in the United States to declare bankruptcy, yet the $444 million hockey arena for the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings goes forward. Re you kidding me. Detroit cannot keep their streets lit and it takes nearly an hour for police response, yet its some how a priority to spend another $400 million of tax payer dollars on a hockey stadium whose owners are worth billions. How does this make sense in the face of a complete and colossal financial collapse? 40% of streetlights remain dark, fire and police forces are cut, schools are a disgrace, 79,000 empty buildings need to be dealt with, and the public pension system is bleeding the city but a shiny new hockey stadium in the middle of an impoverished war zone is a priority. UNREAL!

Detroit’s financial crisis hasn’t derailed the city’s plans to spend more than $400 million in Michigan taxpayer funds on a new hockey arena for the Red Wings.

Advocates of the arena say it’s the kind of economic development needed to attract both people and private investment dollars into downtown Detroit. It’s an argument that has convinced Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and Kevyn Orr, the emergency manager he appointed to oversee the city’s finances, to stick with the plan. Orr said Detroit’s bankruptcy filing won’t halt the arena plans.

“I know there’s a lot of emotional concern about should we be spending the money,” said Orr. “But frankly that’s part of the economic development. We need jobs. If it is as productive as it’s supposed to be, that’s going to be a boon to the city.”

But critics say the project won’t have enough economic impact to justify the cost, and that it’s the wrong spending priority for a city facing dire economic conditions.

Who wants to go to a hockey game in the middle of hell? Seriously, in lieu of spending funds on police and firefighters, the money goes to a sports stadium instead. What is something happens to one of the patrons of the sporting event, will the police ever show? As opined by the American Thinker, “do these people have a death wish?”

Speaker at Trayvon Martin Rally in Seattle, WA Calls for Boycott of Charles Barkley

Madness … So if you don’t agree with the mob and agree with the rule of law, they want to boycott you and ruin your career.

A speaker at the Travon Martin rally in Seattle, WA called out Charles Barkley and called for the boycott of Barkley. The speaker called for NBA player to not speak to Charles Barkley and thus he would lose his job. Are these people insane? These individuals would actually try and destroy another because they dare go against the mob and stated that the jury got it right in the George Zimmerman murder trial? Charles Barkley actually put forth a very concise and well reasoned analysis of his opinion and for that he has now been branded not black enough. This is the insanity of those who claim to be for justice and civil rights. They would take away others rights so they can get their way. UNREAL. So much for that freedom of speech thing.

Former Auburn Basketball Star Korvotney Barber Missing Since 7/20/13 …Believed to have Drowned in Panama City Beach, FL

Korvotney Barber, one of the most highly decorated recruits in the history of Auburn basketball and former player, has been missing since 7 pm Saturday, July 20, 2013 in the waters off the coast of Panama City Beach, Florida directly behind the Boardwalk Beach Resort Condominiums on South Thomas Drive. He is believed to have drowned. According to reports, Barber went into the surf Saturday, July 20 around 7 p.m. with a group of family and friends and never came out.   Swimming was prohibited on Saturday due to hazardous conditions as there were double red flags flying on the beach which was a signal for individuals not to swim in the water. The search for Barber’s body was suspended on Sunday due to bad weather.

Former Auburn basketball player Korvotney Barber is missing and is believed to have drowned off the coast of Panama City Beach, says coach Tony Barbee.

Barber went missing in the water Saturday at 7 p.m. near the area of Pineapple Willy’s and has not yet been spotted, according to information provided Sunday afternoon by Lt. William Bruhmuller of the Panama City Beach police.

The search for Barber was suspended Sunday afternoon due to bad weather, according to WALA-TV. The search is expected to resume when the weather conditions improve.

Basketball coach Tony Barbee tweeted late Sunday afternoon that it’s “believed” Barber drowned Saturday night.

Former NBA Star Charles Barkley Comments On George Zimmerman Murder Trial: “I Agree With The Verdict” … “There are a lot of black people who are racist”

WOW, the Round Mound of Rebound, Charles Barkley, says that the agrees with the George Zimmerman verdict.

Who knew that NBA Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley, would be the voice of reason, sanity and well rationed thought in the wake of the George Zimmerman murder trail verdict where a jury found him not guilty. In an interview with CNBC and Maria Bartiroma, Barkley stated that he “agreed with the verdict. Barkley then said,  “I think sometimes when people talk about racism, they say only white people are racist. There are a lot of black people who are racist.” Charles basically blamed both Martin and Zimmerman for the incident and called it a bad situation. He said it was wrong for Zimmerman to follow Trayvon Marin, but then Barkley stated that he thought “Trayvon Martin, God rest his soul, I think he did flip the switch and started beating the hell out of Mr. Zimmerman.” That is probably pretty accurate to what the evidence showed in the Zimmerman murder trial and the reason why the jury found George Zimmerman not guilty.

Real Clear Politics:

CHARLES BARKLEY: Well, I agreed with the verdict. I feel sorry that young kid got killed. But they didn’t have enough evidence to charge him. Something clearly went wrong that night. Clearly something went wrong. I feel bad for anybody who loses a kid, but if you looked at the case and you don’t make it — there was some racial profiling, no question about it. But something happened that changed the dynamic of that night, and I know -- that’s probably not a popular opinion among most people but just looking at the evidence I agreed with the verdict.

I just feel bad because I don’t like when race gets out in the media because I don’t think the media has a pure heart, as I call it. There are very few people have a pure heart when it comes to race. Racism is wrong in any, shape, form — a lot of black people are racist too. I think sometimes when people talk about racism, they say only white people are racist. There are a lot of black people who are racist. I don’t like when it gets out there in the media because I don’t think the media has clean hands.

MARIA BARTIROMO, CNBC: I’m glad you made that point.

BARKLEY: Obviously I feel sorry that young kid got killed but just judging by the evidence, I don’t think that guy should have went to jail the rest of his life. Something happened bad that night, obviously.

I have always been a Charles Barkley fan and loved him when he played with the Philadelphia 76ers. Although there are many times that I do not agree with Barkley’s opinions, the two thing that I respect the hell out of when it comes to Sir Charles is his honestly and his I don’t give a damn, non-PC attitude of just saying it like he feels. Charles Barkley, unlike the so-called black leaders in the US like Sharpton and Jackson is 100% correct in his analysis of the George Zimmerman murder trial … they [the prosecution] did not have enough evidence to charge him.
