Former NBA Star Charles Barkley Comments On George Zimmerman Murder Trial: “I Agree With The Verdict” … “There are a lot of black people who are racist”

WOW, the Round Mound of Rebound, Charles Barkley, says that the agrees with the George Zimmerman verdict.

Who knew that NBA Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley, would be the voice of reason, sanity and well rationed thought in the wake of the George Zimmerman murder trail verdict where a jury found him not guilty. In an interview with CNBC and Maria Bartiroma, Barkley stated that he “agreed with the verdict. Barkley then said,  “I think sometimes when people talk about racism, they say only white people are racist. There are a lot of black people who are racist.” Charles basically blamed both Martin and Zimmerman for the incident and called it a bad situation. He said it was wrong for Zimmerman to follow Trayvon Marin, but then Barkley stated that he thought “Trayvon Martin, God rest his soul, I think he did flip the switch and started beating the hell out of Mr. Zimmerman.” That is probably pretty accurate to what the evidence showed in the Zimmerman murder trial and the reason why the jury found George Zimmerman not guilty.

Real Clear Politics:

CHARLES BARKLEY: Well, I agreed with the verdict. I feel sorry that young kid got killed. But they didn’t have enough evidence to charge him. Something clearly went wrong that night. Clearly something went wrong. I feel bad for anybody who loses a kid, but if you looked at the case and you don’t make it — there was some racial profiling, no question about it. But something happened that changed the dynamic of that night, and I know -- that’s probably not a popular opinion among most people but just looking at the evidence I agreed with the verdict.

I just feel bad because I don’t like when race gets out in the media because I don’t think the media has a pure heart, as I call it. There are very few people have a pure heart when it comes to race. Racism is wrong in any, shape, form — a lot of black people are racist too. I think sometimes when people talk about racism, they say only white people are racist. There are a lot of black people who are racist. I don’t like when it gets out there in the media because I don’t think the media has clean hands.

MARIA BARTIROMO, CNBC: I’m glad you made that point.

BARKLEY: Obviously I feel sorry that young kid got killed but just judging by the evidence, I don’t think that guy should have went to jail the rest of his life. Something happened bad that night, obviously.

I have always been a Charles Barkley fan and loved him when he played with the Philadelphia 76ers. Although there are many times that I do not agree with Barkley’s opinions, the two thing that I respect the hell out of when it comes to Sir Charles is his honestly and his I don’t give a damn, non-PC attitude of just saying it like he feels. Charles Barkley, unlike the so-called black leaders in the US like Sharpton and Jackson is 100% correct in his analysis of the George Zimmerman murder trial … they [the prosecution] did not have enough evidence to charge him.

My opinion is exactly the same as what Barkley has stated. I agree it’s hard for the Martin family, it’s also hard for the Zimmermans. But some people in the country have an agenda, and its good for no one. HLN is the worst.
I stopped listening to news about this case before it went to court, then I watched only testimony and formed my opinion. Not guilty, based on self-defense.
Now I have stopped watching coverage again.

Black folks are speaking up and agreeing with the Zimmerman verdict and it’s great to see them come forward and do so. This was not racial even though Travyon’s mother says so. Larry Morgan, black man, talk show host, speaks up and says he wishes he had a Zimmerman in his neighborhood and wishes there were more Zimmermans that want to protect their neighborhoods because of all the trouble the black thugs are causing.

Travyon’s mother is a true racist and raised Travyon likewise, couldn’t wait to contact Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson for their support so she could collect a $1 millions dollars from Twin Lakes. Twin Lakes had a sign posted on the gate that said neighbor watch. Travyon knew that and knew he looked suspicious, so why didn’t he just go home instead of attacking George Zimmerman. Why did Travyon’s stepfather first tell him he couldn’t go to the store….big question….then he finally said yes. It was raining out, why didn’t he instead just ride him to the store.

The Martin’s say their son was an average teenager….that’s a pile of BS if I ever heard one….that is not the standard of living for an average teenager, all the trouble Travyon had gotten himself into, I guess it was just an excuse for their lack of parenting.

The problem with Barkley’s stream of logic is that he is ignoring some glaring facts about both the case and the nature or racism in this country. First racism involves power and more specifically the power to impact the life of someone else. Now examine the case we know thier was a confrentation. In that confrentation Zimmerman had a loaded gun (his legal right), he knew the police were coming (because he called them) and he knew the neighborhood. In all these situations he held a power advantage over Treyvon. It’s disingenous to wipe all those advantages away and claim that Treyvon is to blame for his own death when in any other situation a “reasonable person” would have feared great bodily harm faced with thouse disadvantages from a pursuer. Everything Barkley is mentioning fits the prism of giving Zimmerman the benefit of the doubt because he is the only survivor of the confrentation. It’s sadder when Barkley does it because he is Black and even he gives Zimmerman the benefit of all doubt.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Charles on several occassions through the VCU basketball program. I found him to be a real down to earth, genuine individual with a heart of gold, offering his time to help our program. Not to mention really funny. I have admired him ever since. So I was very pleased and not surprised to hear what he had to say. Such a classy guy. Thanks Charles!!!

charles barkley’s you are a stubborn idiot when the young boy had no dea on his hand, and no blood under his finger nails–plus zimmerman had no blood on his shirt, after shooting the young boy on top of him.If someone was following your daughter, and was told, not to pursue her,but did any way,and said he kill her in self-defense —-would you say she was beating the hell out of him ,so he were right in killing her.Charles barkley(think before you speak dumb),and see the just the facts–the true facts.

SM: What’s the matter, you have an issue when a black man actually agrees with the jury that there was no evidence that GZ profiled and hunted down TM as the prosecution stated? Or do you have an issue when a black man puts forth a thoughtful, concise and well thought out and responsible assessment of the trial?

Isn’t it comical how they turn against one another when some one has an independent thought that dare go against the race hustlers.
