Rasmussen: Mitt Romney 50% – Barack Obama 42% … Hardly Good Polling Numbers for an Incumbent President
Polling woes for Barack Obama …
WOW, Rasmussen has the presumptive GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney leading Barack Obama 50% to 42%. Of course it is way too early; however, not only would I rather be up by 8% over an incumbent President and have the positive trending as well. The Rasmussen tracking poll consists of a 3 day rolling average and as stated at Powerline, since Obama announced his flip-flop on gay marriage on Wednesday afternoon, this morning’s poll would consist overwhelmingly of people who have heard that news.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Mitt Romney earning 50% of the vote and President Obama attracting 42% support. Four percent (4%) would vote for a third party candidate, while another three percent (3%) are undecided.
To make matters worse for President Obama, Rasmussen has a total job approval of 4% and disapproval of 55%. Rasmussen’s Obama Approval Index, the difference between the number of voters who strongly approve of his performance and those who strongly disapprove, is at a 5 month low of -22%. More poor polling for Obama, only 37% give the president good or excellent marks for his handling of the economy, while 48% say he’s doing a poor job.
According to Gallup, 6 in 10 Americans said that Obama’s same sex view on gay marriage would not change their view. However, what be the more important number to look at is the number of people that his flip-flop on gay marriage would more likely vote for him. Forget Democrats, they will vote for him no matter what. However, 11% of Independents said that they were more likely vote for Obama, while 23% said they were less likely to. That can explain Obama avoiding the gay marriage issue today.
Make no mistake Republicans, it is no time to get giddy; however, it is a great position to start from. Barack Obama is going to have to do more that just have fund raisers with George Clooney and the Hollywood elite. Obama will be hard pressed to create the same magic he did in 2008, as seen by his poor attendance at Ohio St for his campaign kickoff. That was a once in a generation election. More to the point Obama must defend his hideous record for the past 3+ years on jobs, the economy, gas prices and out of control debt. There is more to being President that fund raising and class warfare. With the recent overplaying of his hand and politicizing the one year anniversary of the US seals killing Bin Laden, Obama’s recent flip-flopping on gay marriage and the poor jobs number for April … Obama finds himself in a world of trouble. Not to mention that before the 2012 election, the SCOTUS is going to render a decision on the constitutionality of Obamacare.

Barack Obama … Carolina in His Mind … Many Things Have Changed in North Carolina Since 2008
President Barack Obama and his reelect minions have “Carolina in their minds” and it is not a good thing. That’s North Carolina on his mind as Obama could never win in South Carolina. The Obama campaign has been looking for a 2012 campaign slogan to replace, “Yes we Can”, because they obviously can’t and “Hope & Change” as all Americans hope for these days is some change left in their pockets. As seen in what is transpiring in states like Virginia, Florida and North Carolina, their slogan should be, “This Ain’t 2008 Anymore”. In 2008 Obama beat McCain in the Tar Heel state; however, he would be hard pressed to do that again and pick up those electoral votes.
North Carolina represented the high water mark for the great Obama wave in 2008 — but he’s swimming against the tide there in 2012.
No state better illustrates the challenge Obama faces in trying to consolidate the historic gains of his 2008 campaign at a time when hope, change and optimism have been supplanted by anger, skepticism and disillusionment.
It’s not merely that fewer than 45 percent of state voters approve of the job performance of the president who’s set to land there Tuesday, or that the state’s unemployment rate is pushing double digits. Or that both houses of the state legislature flipped from blue to red in 2010.
We have stated for quite some time that it is a near impossibility for Barack Obama to catch lightening in a bottle as he did in 2008. That was then, this is now. What is Obama’s greatest issue to rally the troops … um, maybe his record as President for the past 3+ years, over 8% continued unemployment, out of control spending, record number of Americans on food stamps, record number of Americans on federal disability, escalating gas prices and Obama himself … the $5 trillion man. Oh yea, and Obamacare.
Honestly, as James Taylor sings … the only way Obama will win Carolina is “in his mind”.

Barack Obama is Carteresque … Gas Prices Grow More Under Obama Than Jimmy Carter
As we have stated so many times in the past, Barack Obama is not Lincolnesque or Reaganesque … Obama is Carteresque.
Not only do Obama and Carter have a poor economy and jobs in common, but rising gas prices as well. Gas prices have more than doubled during the Carter and Obama administrations. Under the Carter administration, gas prices increased by 103.77% while gas prices have have risen by 103.79% since Obama took office. I guess Obama has got his wish when he stated he wanted gas prices to increase (VIDEO).
Marking the similarities between President Barack Obama’s time in office and former president Jimmy Carter’s is nothing new. But as of Monday, Obama has hit one more Carter benchmark – both saw gas prices double in their first term of office. [See Where Gas Prices are Spiking the Most]
In fact, while just barely, Obama has seen an even higher gas price increase than Carter dealt with under his administration.
Under the Carter administration, gas prices increased by 103.77 percent. Gas prices since Obama took office have risen by 103.79 percent.
Presently, the average gas prices in the United States are 3.927 a gallon.
Check out the web site … To Much at the Pump to see just how much more you are paying today in gas than you were prior to Obama taking office. So tell me America, are you better off today with Barack Obama as President? Remember that answer in the 2012 election.
Obama Minions Launch Political Ad Campaign Trying to Distance the President from High Gas Prices
The double standard continues on high gas prices … it can’t be Obama’s fault.
The not responsible for anything President Barack Obama’s minions are coming to his aid with a political ad campaign trying to claim that Obama is not responsible for ever rising gas prices. Looks like BIG OBAMA vs. BIG OIL. I guess it is safe to say that the high gas prices are a concern to Obama and his reelection team other wise no such ad would have ever been made. So is Obama supposed to get a pass on gas prices, GWB did not. The WAPO thinks the people are getting smarter with gas prices, hardly. This is what happens when the MSM shills for a Democrat and has a double standard when it comes to issues that are damning to Democrats and their all-in candidate Obama.
Priorities USA sends over the new spot, and it ties the group funding the earlier ad attacking Obama directly to Mitt Romney.
The American Energy Alliance is spending $3.6 milion on an ad attacking Obama that blames him for the fact that gas prices “nearly doubled” since he took office (gas prices were low at the time because of the financial crisis), and amplifies multiple falsehoods, including the suggestions that Obama wants gas prices higher. Politico recently reported that the American Energy Alliance has deep ties to the oil billionaire Koch brothers.
In response, Priorities USA’s new ad — which will be running in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia — blasts the AEA ad as funded by Big Oil, and points out that the oil industry has pledged $200 million to Romney’s campaign:
The ad goes on to say the following; however, how come Obama’s lackeys do not repeat the words of Energy Secretary Chu who wanted to raise gas prices as part of Obama’s agenda or the VIDEO below where Barack Obama is all for higher energy prices? Hmm?
“Who’s behind this ad smearing President Obama? Big Oil, that’s who. The money they make from high gas prices — is going right into Mitt Romney’s campaign. Big oil executives have pledged two hundred million to help him. And Mitt Romney’s pledged to protect their record profits — and their billions in special tax breaks too. These guys all profit. You pay the price.”
Think high gas prices are not going to be a 202 election issue … Obama seems to think so.

The MSM Double Standard on High Gas Prices for Obama … Remember When it was a Negative for Bush?
THE MSM – OBAMA DOUBLE STANDARD CONTINUES, THEY ARE ALL IN ON OBAMA PROPAGANDA …
When Barack Obama became President of the United States gas prices were at a national average of $1.84 a gallon. Flash forward to present day and the national gas average is $3.89. However, what was a negative news story for George W. Bush and the increasing gas prices is not even close to the same story spewed by the liberal MSM. Go figure.
Hot Air points out the continues and obvious bias media coverage of high gas prices under President Obama and former President GWB. Isn’t amazing that under GWB the media stated that the high gas prices were going to affect him and the GOP in the 2006 midterms. Guess what, they did. However, gas prices are at all time highs for this time of the year and that same bias MSM states that Obama cannot affect the gas prices and its not his fault. It gets worse, the MSM is actually portraying high gas prices as a positive. The truth of the matter is high gas prices will affect the 2012 elections for Obama and all Democrats.
Tim Graham outlined the differences between media coverage of high gas prices under George W. Bush and gas prices under Barack Obama. Bet you can guess which president received more leniency!
This really isn’t a hard or complicated issue to understand. A wide variety of factors contribute to the price of gas. The president doesn’t have control over all of them — but he does have significant control over energy policy in the United States and energy policy is one of the factors that contributes to the price of gas …
NewsBusters has the full transcript:
TIM GRAHAM: Certainly in 2006, George W. Bush got a much harsher press. It was really kind of funny because they were saying that things were going to go really badly for Bush in the midterm elections, which of course they did. But when gas prices went down in the fall of 2006, then Katie Couric did story where she basically said, “Is this an oil industry plot to drop the gas prices before the elections?” They just assume whatever spin that they can find. Yeah. The front page of New York Times this morning? “U.S. Inches Towards Goal of Energy Independence.”
