Paulus Van der Sloot Gets his Payoff. Aruba to Paulus, “No Sweat”

“Da Judge”

Vanderbilt nosweat

(Vanderbilt -‘06)

Paulus entering the event on a beautiful living carpet formed by the ordinary Aruban people. He graciously accepts the ‘payoff’ for his inconvenience and embarrassment from official sources. This exchange of wealth is certain grounds to affirm his complete and total innocence in connection with the ‘unfortunate disappearance’ of Natalee.

No problem at all.

Paulus Van der Sloot has been rewarded for his materful job at gaming the Dutch legal system. Paulus has played this situation as if it were an Aruban fiddle.

Not only have the actions of the the Paulus, Joran and the three suspects cost Aruba its tourism, it has cost Aruba another 50,000 Aruban Guilders in compensation. Trust me, this Afl. 50.000 is little compared the the millions that this will cost Aruba in an American tourism further backlash.

He won a civil action for unjust detention against the Aruban authorities in November of that year and has now been awarded damages. He is no longer a suspect. The judge in the civil case stressed his ruling related solely to Paul van der Sloot.

Both father and his son deny any wrongdoing.

The police handling of the case, coupled with the failure to find any trace of Holloway, has generated a lot of criticism in the US. There have been calls for American tourists to boycott the island.

One really wonders just how much more actual Aruban people are going to take. People do not just disappear when they are on vacation. Use your heads Aruba, who was with her last?

Aruba: Camp Tourism. Maybe the ATA, ALE and Government Officials Should Attend?

The ATA, Aruba Tourism Authority, has a camp for children to show the importance of tourism to Aruba. Its goal is to “educate the children on the importance of the tourism industry.”  The ATA, ALE and other Aruba officials may want to attend this camp themselves and remember just exactly what made their island popular in the first place.

Its nice to show children the attractions that made Aruba a past destination for tourism. If you are teaching your children the importance of tourism, one wonders why the adults do not comprehend this same notion. If you want your children to understand the concept, then it begs the question … Why don’t the adults?

Tourism is not a result of beaches, hotels, gambling or restaurants. Its a perception of safety and how one will be treated when they go on vacation if something goes wrong. All to often in the past vacations were planned by price, destination and travel brochures with glowing endorsements. Not in a post Natalee Holloway world. If you have not figured it out yet, which obviously Aruba has nor or does not care to, Aruba broke a trust with its potential paying tourists.

A trust is not usually repaired any time soon, especially when Aruba continues to deny they have done anything wrong. How does an island of approximately 77 sq. miles, slightly larger than Washington, DC with barely 100,000 people manage to have a paying customer to their country disappear? People do go missing all the time, which is a sad reality of life. However, the trust that Aruba broke was not just to provide safety to tourists, but to properly and willfully investigate the disappearance in a competent and honorable manner.

Do you actually think people want to pay money to vacation where they have seen first hand how they will be dealt with as outsiders vs. the cronyism that takes place to protect your own? The matter only exacerbated yesterday by Paulus Van der Sloot being rewarded for his actions. The answer is no.

So the next time that Aruba feels the need to teach their children the importance of tourism, maybe the adults should attend those lectures as well.

Aruba … “ONE CORRUPT ISLAND”: Paulus Van der Sloot Wins Court Case Against Aruba

I really hope the Judge in NYC is paying attention, if not … WAKE UP!!!

Does anyone really think that an American could receive a fair trial in Aruba? Not a chance. If she does then we have a “Natural Bridge” to sell her.

Aruba, do you want to know why your tourism is sinking out of sight and will continue to do so? Maybe because the powers that be in Aruba see fit to reward Paulus Van der Sloot for his law suit while the family of Natalee Holloway is told nothing regarding the disappearance of their daughter.

According to Bondia, Paulus Van der Sloot has won his legal case against Aruba in that he was unjustly detained by Aruban authorities. Paulus Van der Sloot was awarded Afls 50.000 or approximately US$28,000 by the Courts. This $28,000 settlement to Paulus Van der Sloot will cost Aruba millions of dollars in tourism due to the backlash.

The cronyism that has taken place during this entire investigation and following court proceedings has been nothing short of disgusting. The fact that judges were flown in to give the appearance of impartiality or preferential treatment is a joke to all thinking people. Paulus Van der Sloot was part of the legal system, knows the system and gamed the system. The two words “impartial” and “Aruba” can never be used in the same sentence.

I guess Paulus Van der Sloot did pull in the favors.  Initially he went to court to get his name off the suspect list. Interesting how the two black security guards who were framed have not been afforded that option. Then again, they are not Dutch.

The Court, however, did not yet rule in the case of the family. That is still pending. For what? How can anyone say that Joran Van der Sloot was improperly detained when at the very least his lies lead to his incarceration? In interviews Joran has even admitted he understood why he spent time in jail.

The Court system in Aruba continues to be a mockery. The extent that they are willing to go to protect and pay off their own is truly pathetic. The Aruban people have no one to blame for their sicking economy and tourism than those in power who see fit that the Natalee Holloway case is covered up. To the Aruban people, do you remember when your own Gerold Dompig made this statement?Dompig BD

Dompig says he believes Paulus van der Sloot does know more than he has been telling about the circumstances surrounding Holloway’s disappearance.

The exact quote from the interview was as follows:

Troy Roberts (CBS): Do you believe Paulus Van Der Sloot knows more than he has been telling?
Gerold Dompig: Yes I Do…

But then again, Dompig resign from the police. Voluntarily of course.

Aruba, One Happy Safe Island … If You overlook the Armed Crack Addicts

Aruban politicians learn that there are consequences to their actions. The Aruban Government demolished a crack house downtown and now the armed crack addicts are venturing elsewhere. The crack issue seems rather out of proportion to the population. Otmar Oduber made the following comments:

If that is the case inside the shelter, (referencing to weapons and knives smuggled in) the concern becomes even bigger, considering the number of addicts that are roaming the streets and who, besides having an addiction problem, also are a threat to the community.

By community, does Otmar Oduber mean tourists as well?

Aruba, an island in Distress: Surrounded by Uncertainty, Cover Up and Mystery

Vanderbilt glub

(Vanderbilt — ’06)

Some 15 months later Aruba finds itself an island in distress surrounded by a sea of mystery and cover-up  due to the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. As Vanderbilt points out, “even the the waters surrounding Aruba looks much  like Natalee’s clothing to tourists. Scary.

Tourism continues to fall even though the story of Natalee’s disappearance is not in the headlines everyday. People have made up their minds and until Aruba decides to come clean there will not even be a chance of tourists returning. No amount of money or marketing will fix this problem. Justice for Natalee just might.
