Aruban Protests Against “Big Development” of Downtown Renovation … Civil Unrest, Always Good for Tourism
Aruban police moved in quickly in on this illegal action, why are they AWOL on others? It would appear that the Aruban police can act quickly when they care to. When its not about a cover up, justice is swift in Aruba. When its a pressing issue like Arubans expressing their freedom of speech against their government officials selling them down the river. However, when it comes to the disappearance and murder of an American tourist, that gets put in the deny and stall at all cost category. Amazing what Aruban police find to be a priority and what they do not.
According to the police it was an illegal action. Incidentally, it didn’t take that long; police officers were quickly able to remove the chains, which were smeared with oil, after which the traffic jam in the main street was soon dissolved.
Amigoe, August 14, 2007: Caya Grandi closed down

After Millions Spent, Aruban Tourism Still Floundering; Increase of 0.6% in April, 2007
After all the millions spent on marketing tourism, after all the attempts to spin bad publicity and after all the attempts to shift blame on to other in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, Aruba’s tourism is still in shambles.
As reported in Amigoe and The Aruban Central Bank, Aruban tourism was up 0.6%. With all the recent efforts made to market tourism, that can only be looked at as a total failure. Aruba also on the tourism horizon has the release of Beth Twitty’s book, Loving Natalee: A Mother’s Testament of Hope and Faith. The October 2, 2007 release will once again shed light and attention on the fact that Aruba has done nothing to provide, Justice for Natalee.
In April 67.825 tourists visited Aruba. That’s merely 0.6 percent more than in April 2006.
The Easter period saw a decline in both years for the month of April. The foregoing Semana Santa usually brings a lot of southern neighbors to our island, but this year it was quite less. Also the number of American tourists declined by 1.6 percent.
A decline from the northern cities of Chicago (Illinois) and Detroit (Michigan) was registered, as was the case with the most important air traffic junction Atlanta in Georgia.
The tourism from cruise ship’s is also down drastically.
Tourism Authority show that, when compared to the corresponding month of 2006, the number of cruise passengers shrank considerably, i.e., by 53 percent, despite a 42.9 percent increase in ship calls in June 2007. (CBA)

Aruban Shop Owners Shot in Leg During Hold Up, One Happy Island
Amigoe, July 25, 2007: Supermarket owners shot in the leg during a hold-up
Three armed and masked men held up the Famia Supermarket, shot the owners in the leg and took off with their spoils. According to reports, 2 of the 3 suspects have been arrested. There is no truth to the rumor that the Aruban police first arrested 2 black security guards before actually arresting those responsible for the crime … One Happy and Safe Island.
ORANJESTAD – A Chinese supermarket in Mabon was attacked with a weapon last night. The two owners were shot in the leg during the hold-up.
Man Drowns in Aruba and Washes Ashore … Why Didn’t Natalee Holloway, if she Drown?
Amigoe is reporting that a man, presumed homeless, was found dead and floating in the water near Bikker & Gomez at the L.G. Smith Boulevard in Aruba. So why is it again as some have tried to spin that if Natalee Holloway accidently drown in the ocean due to drugs or intoxication that she did not wash ashore as this man did? The answer is, if she had drown in that manner, she would have.
However, for some reason the laws of nature, currents and ocean tides are different for homeless men name Tomas and Zico than they are for an American teenager named Natalee Holloway in Aruba. We can also presume that Tomas/Zico was not at Carlos N’ Charles and was not seen leaving in a car with Joran Van der Sloot, Deepak or Satish Kalpoe. as he was later found in the water.
If someone was in such an impaired or intoxicated state they never could have gotten that far away from shore to drift away with the current. The waves would have brought them back. Of course if they were taken out into the ocean by a boat and dropped in the sea in a weighted cage, that is another story.

KPLD from the Netherlands Computer Lap top Stolen, Recovered in Dominican Republic
A laptop computer was stolen from an official if the KPLD from the Netherlands that contained information on the criminality in Aruba and strategic plans. It is reported that the Dutch official had been in Aruba since March 2007. This poses some rather interesting questions and dilemmas for the war on crime in Aruba. Exactly what was on this computer? When did the Dutch officials come to Aruba to take over the Natalee Holloway investigation to further look into the events and details of the case? Besides that, what other information might have been compromised in the war on drugs or money laundering?
Amigoe: July 11, 2007: Stolen police laptop found back
ORANJESTAD – The laptop stolen from the home of a Dutch police official was found back. Two detectives of the Police Corps Aruba ( KPA ) traveled to the Dominican Republic to recover the laptop, which contains a whole lot of information on the criminality in Aruba and a strategic plan.
