This is priceless … A man tired of an individual threatening to commit suicide takes matters into his own hands, literally, and pushes the would be suicidal man off a bridge. You just can’t make this stuff up.
Dateline China: A 66 year old Chinese man, Lai Jiansheng, who was fed up with being backed up in traffic for four to five hours around the Haizhu bridge in the city of Guangzhou, China … walked up to the man contemplating suicide, Chen Fuchao, and pushed him off the bridge. Lai Jiansheng walked up to Chen, shook his hand and then gave him a push.
Chen fell 26 feet (8 meters) onto a partially inflated emergency air cushion laid out by authorities and survived, suffering spine and elbow injuries, the official Xinhua News Agency said Saturday.
The story get even more bizarre, if that is possible. After pushing Chen off the bridge, Lian Jiansheng greets and salutes the crowd after he pushed off would-be “suicide jumper.” Check out the other pics below of the man being pushed and falling off the bridge.

Talk about ending one’s procrastination and cutting to the chase. The 66 year old Lai Jiansheng said that he was sick of Chen’s “selfish activity”.
“I pushed him off because jumpers like Chen are very selfish. Their action violates a lot of public interest,” Lai was quoted as saying by Xinhua. “They do not really dare to kill themselves. Instead, they just want to raise the relevant government authorities’ attention to their appeals.”
Xinhua said Lai was “taken away by police” but did not elaborate.
A police officer who answered the telephone Saturday at a station close to the bridge confirmed the incident and said it was under investigation. He refused to give any other details and hung up.
According to Xinhua, Chen wanted to kill himself because he had accrued $290,000 in debt from a failed construction project.

Chen wanted to kill himself because he was in 2 million yuan of debt following a failed construction project.
After knowing the situation, Lai volunteered to talk with the Chen to persuade him. After denied by the police, he broken through a police cordon and climbed up to where Chen sat.
Lai first greeted Chen with a handshake, and then he pushed him off the bridge. Chen fell 8 meters onto a partially-inflated emergency air cushion, damaging his spine and elbow in the fall

Yes, I also have been on a highway shut down because a fool wanted to jump off a over pass.
I was pissed off! A 15min ride turned into a
3 1/2 hour ride. But it was also a “selfish activity” to push a idiot off a bridge to get to work. MURDER!

I could not believe my eyes when I read this article. I know this man Lian Jiansheng I really do. We called him L.J. to his face and Little Jerk behind his back.
He was a teacher’s aid in my calculus based physics class when I was a sophomore at good old Texas A&M. There were only twelve of us in the class, and we had a really good study group that everyone attended.
On one test, the teacher let Lian write the test. It was so ridiculously hard and we all failed the test. Made fun of us and ridiculed us on the day that he returned the test. He informed us all that we were stupid Americans.
On the next evening when the study group meet, we planned revenge rather than studying.
On Friday night, we duck taped Lian Jiansheng on the top stag of a multi staged black cat 402 rocket. We planned to send him back to China—pronto.
We had a difficult time calculating the trajectory, but finally decided on a 42-degree elevation in a NNW direction, and lit the fuse.
The last time I heard from Lian Jiansheng was when the second stage of the rocket failed to fire for over 3 seconds. By then, it was nearly a mile high.
I could barely make out the sounds of a Chinese voice, and it sounded like he was saying “Waltz across Texas,” but I later discovered that it translates roughly into “help, help, my American Blue genes are on fire.” Anyway, I wouldn’t have cared.
I’m so amazed that Lian Jiansheng survived. We did strap a parachute on him, but he kept telling us he didn’t know how to use it. We told him, that anyone who can teach physics (poorly I might add) could figure it out.
We built a big campfire, drank Shiner beer, and sang campfire songs, until the sun came up. What a wonderful night it was. I haven’t seen or heard from L.J. since that night, when we lit the fuse on that big black cat and he vowed revenge on us all.
