Mission Viejo Elementary in Aurora, Colorado School Bans White Students From After-School Tutoring Program … Only for Children of Color, Whites Need Not Apply (Update: School Apologizes)

WHAT PART ABOUT DISCIMINATION DOES THIS SCHOOL NOT UNDERSTAND?

Just when you thought you had heard it all when it came to public education in the United States, along comes to following. A school principal for the Mission Viejo Elementary in Aurora, Colorado has stated that NO WHITE CHILDREN were allowed in an after-school tutoring program. WHAT!!! A student of color only tutoring program? Really? So what part about segregation and discrimination doesn’t this principal quite understand? So it is ok for children of color to get special tutoring, but not white children? Imagine, just imagine if the story was reversed and the letter that went home to parents from the principal states that ‘children of color need not apply’? Ironically enough the sign outside of the Mission Viejo Elementary school states: “To inspire every student to think, to learn, to achieve, to care”.  I guess some one needs to inform the principal of the elementary school’s mission statement? The Board of Education seems to be throwing the principal Andre Pearson under the bus and blaming him for this entire fiasco.

A school principal said no white children were allowed at an after-school tutoring program, and now some parents call it discrimination.

The principal at Mission Viejo Elementary in Aurora sent a letter telling parents the program is only for students of color. Parents CBS4 talked with said they were shocked to see, in this day and age, what they consider to be segregation.

“I was infuriated. I didn’t understand why they would include or exclude certain groups,” said parent Nicole Cox, who is white.

HOW DOES SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN IN AMERICA? Is this the principals way of getting even with “Whitey”? Making matters worse in this story of discrimination, guess what color principal  Andre Pearson is? Yes, he would be an individual of color. I wonder how he would feel if the roles were reversed? It is truly sad and pathetic that a school administrator would actually think that any form of discrimination would be ok.

UPDATE I: as reported at The Daily Caller, the School district is in full scale damage control and apologizing for Principal Pearson’s actions. They claim his letter was a mistake. Um, this was no mistake on his part. He truly intended to go forward with the reverse-discrimination. AN APOLOGY IS NOT ENOUGH, PRINCIPAL PERSON NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!!

The district has since apologized for the error. A spokeswoman for the school district told KJCT that Pearson’s letter was a mistake and that white students can participate in the tutoring program.

“We deeply regret that they got that communication,” the spokeswoman added, according to notes CBS Denver.

Mission Viejo Parents,

I want to express my regret for the communication sent last Friday describing the PASS Tutoring program sponsored by our PASS parent committee (Partnership for Academically Successful Students). The PASS committee is focused on partnering with the principal to close the racial achievement gap; however the tutoring program is open for all students, regardless of race/ethnicity, and on a first come, first served basis.  As your child’s principal, I am equally concerned about the success of all students who attend our wonderfully diverse school.

I have deep convictions and take my responsibility as a school principal very seriously.  This situation has not deterred me in any way from continuing to do my job with a dedication to excellence.  I am committed to ensuring every child in our school succeeds while closing the achievement gap…it is a moral imperative for me as a public educator.  I will continue to do both of those things with great passion.

In alignment with our District Performance Plan, Mission Viejo has set goals to increase the achievement of all students while eliminating differences in academic performance and growth by race. I welcome input from any and all community members to help us achieve these goals. As a community we will continue to work hard to establish strong positive relationships with parents through PASS, PTCO and Accountability meetings.

In addition to the PASS Tutoring Program, we have many other programs that are intended to help students including, but not limited to, Reading Together, Saturday Academy, Math Club, and Reading Clubs, as well as teachers who make themselves available for afterschool tutoring. If you have concerns about your child’s academic progress, please notify your child’s teacher and they will give you guidance on what steps we can take, together, to ensure your child’s success.

Ex-LA Cop Christopher Dorner’s Burned Body is Positively Identified after Autopsy

File this one under, good riddance to bad rubbish!

According to the LA Times, San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials have positively identified the charred remains found in a burned mountain cabin following the stand off with police as that of former LA police officer and murderer Christopher Dorner. Maybe this will stop the conspiracy theorist who think that Dorner faked his death like in the ending of the movie Sword Fish. Then again, maybe not. As per the official autopsy of the charred body pulled from the burned out mountain cabin where Dorner was in a stand off and gun fight with police. Christopher Dorner had murdered four individuals, including two police officers before he was taken down. Authorities have yet to release the  autopsy information as to how Dorner died.

The police and family members mentioned in Dorner’s manifesto can now rest assured that they are safe from this murderer

San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials have positively identified the charred remains found in a mountain cabin Tuesday as being the body of Christopher Dorner.

Officials said they made the identification using dental records during the autopsy.

The announcement brings a formal end to the epic manhunt for Dorner, who was accused of killing four people, including two law enforcement officers. He was killed at the end of a hours-long standoff in a cabin near Big Bear on Tuesday afternoon.

21 Year Old Kelsie Schelling Missing Since February 4, 2013 While Visiting Boyfriend in Pueblo, Colorado … Abandoned Car Located in Pueblo, CO

21 year old Kelsie Schelling has been missing since February 4, 2013 when she vanished in Pueblo, Colorado while visiting her boyfriend.  Kelsie Schelling lives in Denver, Co and has not been heard from nor seen since she disappeared. Police finally have a clue in her disappearance as her car has been located Thursday afternoon abandoned in Pueblo. However, the police are revealing little information as to the condition or where in the city that the vehicle was found. Also, the police have been rather tight lipped as to whether or not they suspect foul play in Kelsie’s disappearance as reports haven’t revealed much in her case such as her boyfriend’s name or whether or not he’s a person of interest in the case. However, the longer this missing persons case goes on, the more likelihood that Kelsie Schelling met with foul play … was Kelsie Schelling murdered?

It should be noted that Kelsie was last seen in Pueblo, Colo., when she was reportedly visiting her boyfriend. However, no reports have clarified upon the type of relationship the couple have — whether or not they have a rocky relationship or if they get along well. Would her boyfriend have a motive to harm her and hide her body, making it look as though she vanished sometime before or after their visit? Or could someone have preyed upon the young woman while she was in between visitations with the man?

Officials on this case aren’t revealing much information, but what is for certain is that Kelsie Schelling remains missing with few answers. It’s now verging into the second week of her disappearance and even with the use of social networking there aren’t any reported sightings of her, nor are any people coming forward claiming that she is safe or that they’d seen her. This in and of itself is distressing with the woman missing for over a week.

UPDATE I: Family of missing woman Kelsie Schelling speaks about disappearance.

 ”Kelsie is absolutely a faith-filled person, a big heart and an electric smile,” said Kelsie’s brother, Cody Schelling. “She’s very close with family and friends and definitely wouldn’t go this long without talking to somebody.”

Kelsie’s boyfriend, Donthe Lucas, lives in Pueblo, but police will not reveal what he’s told them about when he last saw Kelsie. Since Kelsie has gone missing, Lucas has been arrested on suspicion of identity theft and released on bond. A judge has sealed his arrest affidavit, along with other key information in the case like phone records and surveillance video.

This is Still America, Right? Students Told to Stop ‘USA!’ Chant, Take Off American Flag Bandanas in California

Is California still a part of the United States of America?

So now its racists to chant “USA” in the United States? America, you best pay attention because you are losing your country. Students at Camarillo High School in California school were told to stop chanting “USA … USA … USA” and to take off their American flag bandanas during a basketball game. Although their punishment has since been rescinded, school administrators said “the incident is far from over.” School officials are going to investigate as to whether the “USA” chant was racially motivated and had racist overtones. Yup, that’s what this country has come to. Let’s go after the students for hate crimes for chanting “USA”. Does anyone really think that if kids whore Mexican flag clothing or chanted “Mexico” that this would have even been an issue. Instead, we have school officials that are worried whether some one was offended. For the Love of God … everyone is offended about something!

Four California high-school students were reportedly suspended for chanting “U.S.A! U.S.A!” and wearing American flag bandanas during a basketball game. While their punishment has since been rescinded, school administrators said “the incident is far from over.”

Oxnard Union School District superintendent Gabe Soumakian told Fox News Radio that “we need to pursue this further” and “work with teachers and students and the community about the concept of cultural proficiency.” Soumakian and Camarillo High School principal Glenn Lipman felt that the students’ actions might have had racist undertones since the schools have large Hispanic student populations.

POWERLINE asks an important question that needs to be answered … “Are Hispanic-Americans offended by chants of USA?” Just curious, have these folks actually taken the “oath of allegiance to the USA, see below.

But wait! What reason is there to suppose that Hispanics take offense at shows of American patriotism? Do they harbor hostility towards the United States? I wouldn’t have thought so, but then I’m not on the ground in Oxnard, California.

I hope Soumakian and his crew get to the bottom of this quickly. I wouldn’t want Congress to provide a path to citizenship for millions of illegal Hispanic immigrants if they, and maybe even some of their legal counterparts, can be presumed offended by standard expressions of American patriotism.
