MEDIA BIAS: Chris Matthews Says Unemployment Was Well Past 10% When Obama Took Office, Um Sorry Tingles, It Was Only 7.8%

Chris “Tingle Up My Leg” Matthews continues the MSM propaganda for Barack Obama and continues to spew a false narrative of actual facts that existed prior to Obama coming into office. Matthews stated that the unemployment rate was over 10% and skyrocketing.  Really, over 10%? Interestingly enough the facts show that the unemployment rate was 7.8% when he took office. Actually, this was the lowest that the unemployment rate has been during the Obama Presidency as we have had 43+ months at +8%, event though Obama and his minions promised it would go below 8% after passing his trillion dollar, not shovel ready stimulus.

“When your guy left town, Dubya – who nobody asked him to come back by the way at the Republican convention – unemployment was well past ten percent and skyrocketing.”

Matthews stated that the unemployment rate was over 10% and skyrocketing when his Obamamessiah took office. That is just a false statement and intended lie to put forth to the American people to deceive them. According to the US Labor Department the unemployment rate was 7.8%. So why would Tingles feel the need to lie?  Obviously, the MSM has to aid Obama to get reelected despite Obama’s terrible economic record and failed policies to help create job growth in America.

Question, how does NBC allow such a statement by Matthews to be put forth and not responded to as false? Of course this is coming from a news network that allowed the doctored and edited tape to be put forth of the George Zimmerman 911 call. UPDATE I: However, as reported at ZeroHedge.com the real Unemployment Rate hits 11.7% as spread between the reported and propaganda data hits record.

Today’s reported unemployment rate: 8.1%. The reason: the labor “participation” dropped to a 31 year low 63.5% as reported earlier. Of course, this number is pure propaganda, and makes no sense for one simple reason: despite the economic collapse started in December 2007, the US civilian non-institutional population since then has grown by 186,000 people every month on average hitting an all time high of 243,566,000 in August. These people need a job, and the traditional shorthand is that at least 100,000 jobs have the be generated every month for the unemployment rate to merely stay flat, let along improve. So what does one get when one uses the long-term average of the past 30 or so years which happens to be 65.8%? One gets an unemployment number that is 45% higher than the reported 8.1%, or 11.7%.

GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has released his 2011 tax returns. Contrary to Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s slanderous comments, it turns out that Romney did pay taxes. As it turns out, Romney paid $1.94 million in taxes, an effective tax rate of 14.1%. The rate was such because most all of his income was from investments and there fore subject to capital gans taxes, not income tax. Thus, one can say that this money had been taxed twice.  Also, the Romney’s gave over $4 million to charity, 30% of his income. Can Barack Obama or Joe Biden say the same? No, they would rather take your money to spend.

In short, and as Kevin noted, Romney forked over nearly $2 million to Uncle Sam last year and donated more than $4 million to charity.  He overpaid his taxes by limiting the charitable deductions he chose to claim, which could have driven his obligations to government even lower.  Liberals are now actually complaining that Romney intentionally paid *too much* in taxes to boost his own effective rate, due to his prodigious philanthropic giving.  This line of criticism is downright hilarious. It’s okay to point and laugh.  And what about the last 20 years?

Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann, paid $1.94 million in federal taxes on last year’s income of $13.7 million, for an effective tax rate of 14.1 percent, his campaign said Friday.

That’s slightly above the 13.9 percent rate the couple paid in 2010. Most of the 2011 income was from investments.

Mitt Romney’s campaign did put out a summary Friday by Brad Malt, the trustee of the couple’s blind trust, saying that over the 20-year 1990-2009 period, the Romneys owed both state and federal income taxes and paid federal taxes at an effective annual rate of 20.2 percent

The MSM was salivating and repeating the Obama campaign line making Romney’s taxes a more important distraction than say the +8%  US unemployment rate, the +16 trillion national debt, the 23 million under and unemployed works, the record number of Americans on food stamps and the record high number of Americans who have given up and left the work force. Of course Barack Obama and his band of lying men will spin this as Romney only paid 14% on his taxes, much less that John Q. Public. However, this is investment money and would have already been taxed once as income gained. Also, how many folks are donating $4 million to charity and 30% of their yearly income? Barack Obama and Joe Biden, not so much. Biden gave a whopping $369.

And what about President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in the run-up to their 2008 campaign?

The Bidens gave an average of $369 to charity a year for the decade before he moved to the Naval Observatory – about 0.3 percent of their income. Back in 1997, then Vice-President Al Gore and his then wife Tipper gave $353.

Since becoming Vice-President, Biden hasn’t become much more generous. In 2010, he gave $5,350, about 1.4 per cent of income. That same year, Romney gave some $3 million. The national average is about three per cent.

UNBELIEVABLE … President Barack Obama says his greatest failure in the last four years is not passing comprehensive Immigration reform. Not the +8% unemployment in America, not the 23 million unemployed/underemployed Americans, not the record number of people on food stamps, not the the US has continuous dropped in competitiveness and not the record $16 trillion debt. Romney says Obama has thrown in the white flag of surrender again …

On the campaign trail Mitt Romney slammed President Barack Obama’s comments that he could not change Washington from the inside. Romney had a fantastic response to Obama’s weak “I can’t change Washington” comment. Romney vowed to give Obama that chance to making change from the outside with a presidential election win in November 2012. It is time for a new President when Obama waives the white flag of change surrender. Obama has gone from the candidate of change and “YES I CAN” to “NO I CAN’T”. Barack Obama promised change and now he is the one who cannot get change even though he had a Democrat House and Senate for the first two years of his presidency.

Mitt Romney says he will make changes from the inside, he will bring Republicans and Democrats together and restore the American economy. Maybe Obama should have spent more time governing and leading, reaching across the aisle as he promised, and not campaigning, golfing, vacationing and causing a greater divide. Just a thought.
