US Soldier Goes on Shooting Rampage …Fires Into Afghanistan Homes Killing 16 Civilians & Wounding 5

As reported at the BBC, a US soldier has has killed 16 Afghan civilians and wounded 5 after firing upon three homes in Belandi in the Panjway district of Kandahar. According to accounts from the villagers, five of the dead were young girls, age 6 or younger. The US service member had been detained after an incident.  This terrible incident will only add fuel to the fire of the recent tensions in Afghanistan between the US and Afghans. As stated at the American Thinker, the deaths of woman and children are most certain to set off another round of riots.

A US soldier in Afghanistan has killed at least 16 civilians and wounded five after entering their homes in Kandahar province, senior local officials say.

He left his military base in the early hours of the morning and opened fire in at least two homes; women and children were among the dead.

Nato said it was investigating the “deeply regrettable incident”.

Anti-US sentiment is already high in Afghanistan after US soldiers burnt copies of the Koran last month.

US officials have apologised repeatedly for the incident at a Nato base in Kabul, but they failed to quell a series of protests and attacks that killed at least 30 people and six US troops.

This can’t be good for US – Afghanistan relations and will most likely give ammunition to those who question why we are in Afghanistan.

We don’t know “much” about the shooter, so I will speculate: Suppose, just suppose, that he is a “dual-citizenship” Muskim in the U.S. Army to “interpret” for the troops and the civilians. Of course, dual-citizenship would mean that his loyalty would lie FIRST to the Muslim faith and Mohammed. Although Muslims aren’t supposed to KILL, particularly other Muslims, their “faith” is honored in the breach, and they follow whatever Mullah who happens to be intrepreting the Koran when they get guns in their hands. The Muslim religion is not CENTRALIZED, meaning that burning Korans (Do we KNOW who was responsible for THAT?) or killing other Muslims while wearing a U.S. Army uniform can be “justified”. We HAVE been told that the shooter had “suffered a nervous breakdown”. Who made that diagnosis, and when was it made. If it was made before the massacre, then the shooter should have been in a straight-jacket in a padded and isolated cell. If the diagnosis was made after the massacre, then I would question the Afgans’ ability and competence to make such a diagnosis. Recall that the shooter is reported to be in Afgan custody, which is strange, unless they got to the shooter berore the U. S. Military.

SM: IMO this soldier snapped and should have possibly been diagnosed with a stress relayed illness prior to his break.
