Democrats behaving badly even after Obama’s request for civility.
Remember when President Barack Obama said that we should be civil and set a good example for 9 year old Christina Green at the Tuscan, AZ Memorial service . Obama said that we should use civility in the wake of the murderous and hateful acts of Jared Loughner. Barack Obama said that “we could do better”. It would appear that Obama’s Democrat party cannot do better.
“I believe we can be better,” Obama said to a capacity crowd in the university’s basketball arena and to countless others watching around the country.
“Those who died here, those who saved lives here — they help me believe,” the president said. “We may not be able to stop all evil in the world, but I know that how we treat one another is entirely up to us.”
In crafting his comments, Obama clearly sought a turning point in the raw debate that has defined national politics. He faced the expectations to do more than console, but to encourage a new day of civility, all without getting overly political in a memorial service.
Obama settled on a theme of challenging the country to have a debate that is worthy of those who died. He tapped into the raging debate about the role of incendiary rhetoric without dwelling on it. “Let’s remember that it is not because a simple lack of civility caused this tragedy. It did not,” the president said.
Really? Don’t say that to the Democrats and folks like Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY). Chucky was only the latest in a long line of incivility by Democrats in taking rhetoric to a new and shameful way. This time it had to do with making childish comments in condemning Republicans in the budget battle. Schumer compared House conservatives to a flea.
Schumer, who has been criticizing Republicans all day, said in a floor speech Friday that conservatives were the flea controlling the dog, which he said in this case is a federal government that could shut down at midnight.
What we have here is a flea, wagging a tail, wagging a dog,” said Schumer, chairman of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee.
“The flea are the minority of House Republicans who are hard right, the tail is the House Republican caucus, and the dog is the government,” Schumer explained. “That flea is influencing what the dog does … and it is sad.”
Of course we know that this was all premeditated by Schumer, who was recently outed by an open mike, and the talking points he was instructed to use against the GOP and the Tea Party. But wait, there is more. US Representative Louise Slaughter (D-NY) went so far as to say that GOP Freshmen came to Washington ‘To Kill Women’. We cannot forget her obligatory “Nazi” reference (VIDEO).
Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) said today that the new Republicans elected to the House of Representatives last November came to Congress “to kill women.” She also likened Republican efforts to prohibit federal funding of abortion except in cases of rape, incest or where the life of the mother is endangered to actions taken by Nazis.
Oh wait, more brilliance from the LEFT as Jesse Jackson compares the government shutdown to the Civil War. WHAT???!!! How does it feel Dems to reassure America that you are incapable of doing better.
