You will not see the following reported or discussed in the travel brochures on why to visit Aruba. Why is that? No where on the Aruba Tourism web site does it reference, things to do in Aruba like partaking in going to a strip club made up of human trafficking. What about fun in the sun, weddings and restricting individuals of their human rights? Shouldn’t tourists know exactly what they are getting themselves into when they spend their hard earned money on a vacation?
Rather than just painting just a rosy picture, shouldn’t Aruba and the Aruba AHATA have some truth in advertising that bad things happen there, NATALEE HOLLOWAY, and continued to due so, HUMAN TRAFFICKING.

Justice is reckoning with a criminal organization and not precluding further apprehensions. At the time of going to press yesterday, the OM did not wish to elaborate on the facts of the raids and arrests from amongst others, manager Alex Mathew. In total, four persons were apprehended last night amongst whom also a police officer who worked as security guard at the strip club on his off days. How many strippers had been exploited, remains unknown for the time being.
According to the OM, officers of the Organized Crime Section, the Criminal Investigation Cooperation Team (RST) and assisted by the Royal Military Police are investigating ‘exploitation forms of dancers’ in the strip club. Justice suspects the dancers had had to work too long in one stretch for too low a wage ‘under socially unacceptable circumstances’. This supposedly also involved a ‘situation of lack of freedom’, in which the dancers did not have the possibility to resign and to leave. Therefore, human trafficking, according to the OM. “As human trafficking belongs in the duty package of the RST and the Military Police, they were both involved in the investigation. Both had supplied criminal investigators,” says a spokesperson from the OM. The case got moving after one of the dancers had filed a report with the OM. The investigation was started approx. four months ago. However, Justice does not think there was a question of forced prostitution.

So we are supposed to believe that on the Caribbean island of Aruba where human trafficking takes place that other such crimes cannot exist was well? During the raids, also in Mathew’s residence, one searched amongst others for the administration. His SUV was also confiscated for investigation. “Perhaps the latter contains more items, for example an USB-stick with information.” The Officer of Justice confirmed that money was found, but could not say how much and at which raid location. For that matter, the OM does not wish to confirm or deny that one of the detainees is a police officer. Otherwise, the Officer of Justice did mention that John den Boef, director of Foxy Lady, is not a suspect in the case just yet. Before this newspaper, Den Boef himself denied he was aware of the alleged exploitation practice in his club. “I am not actively involved with the daily affairs of Foxy Lady.I do not know what happens there in the evenings.” However, Den Boef did not wish to say what his precise role is within the company. “That is between me and Mathew.”
Justice further announced that there is no investigation into other strip clubs on the island. “The OM is not entrusted with the supervision thereof,” says the officer.

Who cares about Stephany’s father?
Joran killed Stephany. Plain and simple. He confessed with details only the killer could have known. By his own admission, he drank coffee and ate cake next to the corpse trying to decide if he should cut her up and put her into his luggage or dispose of her some other way.
He is a very deranged person.
It’s pretty incredible to me that someone was actually able to get a good laugh out of Stefany Flores Ramirez’s death. My comment #35 is based on the Flores Ramirez family and how they have conducted themselves dring this horrible time after having the only daughter in their family brutally murdered. I know nothing about Peruvian politics nor do care about Peruvian politics or crime there. The Flores Ramirez family acted with incredible dignity and class when in public and in the media in dealing with Stefany’s death. I’m sure that the family will retain that same class and dignity in respect to this very unfortunate ACCIDENT that involves their son. Too bad the same thing can’t be said about the Van Der Sloots who are the exact opposite of dignity and class. I guess they do have class except it is all LOW class.

Actually, I would like to be a fly on the wall in Joran’s cell. It would be interesting to see what he does with his time. His cellmates, the rats could probably tell the story.
An enterprising TV show might be to place a camera for all to watch live but that would probably violate his civil rights, even though he purposely chose to violate the civil rights of two young women.

Peruvian President wants death penalty for van der Sloot

Birmingham, Al (WIAT) Will Joran van der Sloot face the death penalty if convicted of murdering Stephany Flores? Will the prime suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway pay the price for a crime in another country?
According to Radio Netherlands Worldwide (RNW), President Alan García of Peru has said he wants to reintroduce the death penalty in his country. If the president has his way, Dutch murder suspect Joran van der Sloot could face execution. Legal obstacles, however, make it unlikely that Peru brings back the death penalty anytime soon.
Mr García was referring to child molesters and killers, saying that “certain crimes must be paid for with the criminal’s life”. The president argued that if Peru executed a hundred criminals a year, that would be proportionally the same as in China, “where 5,000 rapists, thieves and corrupt mayors were shot last year”. “I would gladly decapitate 50 child rapists,” Mr García told reporters. A recent poll showed that 80 percent of Peruvians favoured a return of the death penalty.
Van der Sloot is in the Castro Castro prison in Lima charged with killing 21 year old student Stephany Flores…found dead in van der Sloot’s hotel room, five years after the disappearance of Natalee Holloway on Aruba. The Mountain Brook teen was on a graduation trip to the island and was last seen in van der Sloot’s company.
One of van der Sloot’s fellow inmates in Castro Castro is American William Trickett Smith. He was recently extradited from the U.S. to face charges he murdered his Peruvian wife, dismembered her, put the body parts in a suitcase and tossed it in the ocean. The so-called “Suitcase Murder” has elicited as much anger in Peru as the Flores/van der Sloot case.
In the background of that case is an indictment of van der Sloot here in Birmingham on wire fraud and extortion charges stemming from the Natalee Holloway disappearance.
According to RNW, Capital punishment was abolished in Peru in 1979, except for cases of treason in wartime. Reinstating the death penalty would be an uphill battle requiring a change to Peru’s constitution.
Peru’s Justice Minister also points out the Interamerican Convention on Human Rights forbid the implementation of the death penalty. The latter treaty also stipulates that “the death penalty shall not be reestablished in states that have abolished it.”

I was agreeing in comment #51 with Lisa about preferring to bunk with smith rather than van der sloot. However, if anyone deserves the death penalty it is Joran van der Sloot. Just for what he has put Natalee’s family through since her disappearance is enough to justify the death penalty for him.
Death penalty or not, it doesn’t matter. The general population in the Peruvian prison will take care of that in short order. I give him about three minutes.

I think the “Deal” here is that Peruvian President Garcia wants to be able to lay claim for punishment of Joran Van der Sloot which will make him a glorified hero, not only in the eyes of his countrymen but in the eyes of many around the world.
It is so much more dramatic then sentencing him to 35yrs at Lurigancho and Joran being murdered in prison before he serves his time. The chances are high that he won’t last a month.
If they reinstate the death penalty and execute Joran it sends a very powerful message about committing crimes in Peru and shows the government as in control of their legal system vs. not being in complete control of their prison system.
Quite Frankly I’m all for how President Garcia put it – DECAPITATION! Wouldn’t bother me in the least.

I keep looking at the photo and still can’t figure out what it shows. I’ve messed with brightness, constrast, hue, etc. I keep thinking I see what looks like a face in the upper left hand section of it…………………………………………..I may be wrong,but don’t think so.three people in photo…..to see,cut picture in half.look at only the top half.bottom half is a campfire.in the top half if you increase to 125 percent.you can make out three people.one with light hair appears to be in lying position,another holding the first in arms or sitting very close,the third sitting several feet away near the fire on the same side as wheel of car or van.check it out
once you’ve checked at 125 percent,then increase to 150 percent and look.I could be wrong but images are more apparant.ofcourse any law enforcement agency with special imaging computers would easily solve this picture.if only there was such an agency.
In the foreground it looks like steps leading up to a landing or platform in front of the fire source. Zooming in just makes it grainier. There appears to be three people and something or someone lieing on the ground in front of the stairs and platform. Was the picture taken from on top of a building or the second floor?
Is it a campfire or a kiln, oven, or possibly a crematorium? Don’t they usually have a type of conveyor belt or system to feed bodies of people, animals, etc. into the fire? I’m trying to read too much into this, I’m trying to make it fit a possible scenario.
I thought from someone standing just on the other side of fire.

A&E (the television network) is going to air a special tomorrow night, Saturday, August 21st called “Who Is the Real Joran Van Der Sloot” at 9:00 central, 10:00 eastern time.
I doubt it will have any new information but at least it is something. I just hope Joran and Anita didn’t get paid for it. Did I see on the forum that possibly Joran’s youngest brother is in trouble with the law?

(CNN) — A panel of Peruvian judges is considering whether to uphold the confession of Joran van der Sloot, who is accused of killing a 21-year-old woman.
The three-judge appellate panel is expected to hand down a decision in about a week.
“We believe we did a good job demonstrating that there wasn’t an official translator and that his attorney (at the time of the confession) did not have a document accrediting her as his attorney,” van der Sloot’s attorney, Maximo Altez Navarro, told In
Session on Friday.
Van der Sloot is jailed pending trial on charges of first-degree murder and robbery in the May 30 death in of Stefany Flores, a 21-year-old student.
The 22-year-old Dutch citizen, who claims in court documents that his incarceration and confession were illegal, sued attorney Luz Marina Romero Chinchay in July. Van der Sloot says Romero was imposed on him and that she became involved because she was in a relationship with a police officer, said Altez.
Romero has denied those allegations.
In June, a superior court judge in Lima, Peru, upheld the confession and incarceration of van der Sloot. Judge Wilder Casique Alvizuri declared as “unfounded” van der Sloot’s habeas corpus claim that his constitutional rights were violated at the time of the confession because he was represented by a state-appointed attorney.
Van der Sloot also claimed his laptop had been improperly searched.
In an official press release, the judge said the suspect had a translator made available to him during the three depositions he gave the police and that his laptop was sealed once delivered to the court.
Separately, van der Sloot remains a suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway in Aruba in 2005, though he has not been charged in that case.

What I am really wondering about is what happened to the DNA evidence report??? It’s been over 2 months and we haven’t heard any reports on that.

Birmingham, Al (WIAT) It’s just speculation that Joran van der Sloot is a serial killer. It’s a fact that van der Sloot is a serial confessor.
He’s confessed to disposing of Natalee Holloway’s body. He’s confessed to killing Stephany Flores in Peru. But those confessions are always later denied or taken back. And now, van der Sloot’s lawyer in Peru says the Dutchman’s murder confession must be thrown out because it was coerced.
Lawyer Max Altez told the Dutch website BNDESTEM.NL van der Sloot’s fundamental rights have been violated. “I appeal for as long until that happens. If necessary to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.”
Van der Sloot is facing charges he murdered 21 year old Stephany Flores. The student’s body was found in van der Sloot’s Lima hotel room five years to the day after the disappearance of Mountain Brook teen Natalee Holloway on a graduation trip to Aruba. She was last seen with van der Sloot who is considered the prime suspect in the case but has never been charged by Aruban authorities.
Van der Sloot has been indicted by a federal grand jury here in Birmingham on extortion and wire fraud charges. The U.S. attorney’s office here says van der Sloot took money and promised to tell Natalee’s family what happened in Aruba five years ago. No information was delivered to the Holloways. Those charges are apparently stuck in a legal line behind the Peruvian murder charges.
Other international news sources say a decision of the latest appeal could come as soon as next week. An earlier appeal on the same basic grounds: alleged coercion, legal misrepresentation and problems with translation were considered and thrown out previously by a Peruvian judge. Altez has taken the case to a three judge appeals panel.
The case involves heated passions in Peru which as seen a rash of local women apparently killed by visiting foreigners. Altez says he’s been threatened. “There are stones thrown at my office and relatives in Miami have also received threats.” He says he’s sticking with the case. “But after I had taken steps to ensure my safety, I decided to go.”
In yet another strange note in a story that now stretches over five continents (including allegations van der Sloot was involved in a sex slave ring in Thailand), Peter de Vries, the Dutch TV reporter who recorded van der Sloot’s confession he dumped Natalee’s body in the sea has been released on bail in Australia where he was arrested for trespass while chasing another accused murderer.

The schools are excellent and Natalee was a product of those schools and a product of that community where everyone watches out for everyone else and the teenage children feel safe and protected. There are no casinos, no strip clubs, no fronts for human trafficking in Mountain Brook, Alabama. I can also assure you that if those kinds of places somehow managed to exist in Mountain Brook, Alabama the people of that community would never allow an underage child to frequent them as Joran van der Sloot’s parents did. How sad that two girls had to lose their lives because these parents and the community they lived in allowed this monster to be created in the first place. And yes, Aruba is just as responsible for those two deaths as Joran van der Sloot and his parents.

This whole thing with Natalee boils down to a couple things having to fall into place. Unfortunately all the pieces fit and now she is gone. First, a wholesome group of great kids make the mistake of going to a crime-riddled crap hole to celebrate their graduation. Second, this group of kids is seen in the Holiday Inn casino by Joran and his father. Third, the group is targeted by these two predators and from what Joran says he actually chose one of the other Mountain Brook girls as his target originally but when he got to Carlos and Charlies he decided on Natalee when she paid him attention and flirted with him. Next he had the bartender drug her drink and from then on he was totally in control of Natalee and what happened to her. The fact that a place like Aruba was the backdrop was the only way that all of this could play out like it did. Crime breeds crime. Criminals are drawn to a place where crime is not only tolerated but encouraged. There were a lot of players involved in her disappearance and it couldn’t have played out just anywhere. Way to go Aruba.

Hi Frederic, Thanks. On the SM Forum they were talking earlier about the woman who comes to see Joran once or twice a week and that he has said that she is his girlfriend. Word is Anita pays this woman $100 a month or a week (?) to visit him, bring him food, and then report back to Anita on how he is doing. They also say that this woman visits him in his cell. Boy, when Anita says that she is writing someone off and having nothing what so ever to do with them she really means it! Anita lies more than Joran.
Although “girlfriend” is used rather loosly here as they have not had any conjugal visits.
If I were her, I would be very cautious as Joran’s last girlfriends have not done all that well.
If Joran says she is his girlfriend then we all know that she isn’t his girlfriend because everything he says is a lie. I’m not so sure he could actually pull off a conjugal visit. I have often wondered if sexual problems are the reason for his rage and the reason these two girls are now dead. I can’t believe they allow this woman to visit him in his cell for thirty minutes or so at a time. Every state has laws against electronic threats. States can pursue the crime individually or collectively. And it is not civil code, it is criminal. Also, it doesn’t matter if it is international. A complaint can still be filed.
It is not ignored if it is pointed out. A friend at the local FBI office is looking into it even as we speak.

I am absolutely in shock. I have always wondered how and why Anita van der Sloot continues to live on the island of Aruba with her youngest son. Now I see photos on the SM Forum where Anita is out at a party given by the Mansurs and there are young boys shown in photos with the youngest van der Sloot son who appear to be his friends. Who in their right mind would allow their child to be involved with the van der Sloot family in any way?
