Former Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee Democrat Charlie Rangel Charged With Multiple Ethics Violations

The House ethics subcommittee announced Thursday that it found that Rep. Charles B. Rangel (NY-D) violated congressional ethics rules and that it will prepare for a trial. The committee did not immediately specify the charges against Rangel. The former House Ways and Means Committee chairman stated that he looked forward to fighting the ethics charges.

A House ethics subcommittee announced Thursday that it found that Rep. Charles B. Rangel violated congressional ethics rules and that it will prepare for a trial, probably beginning in September. The panel is expected to make the details of his alleged violations public next Thursday.

Rangel (D-N.Y.) has been under the House ethics committee’s microscope since early 2008 after it was reported that he may have used his House position to benefit his financial interests. Two of the most serious inquiries have focused on Rangel’s failure to declare $239,000 to $831,000 in assets on his disclosure forms, and on his effort to raise money for a private center named after him at City College of New York using his congressional letterhead.

Charlie Rangel previously stepped away from the House Ways & Means Committee chair, due to the ethics probe. After all, Nancy Pelosi promised us the most honest House evah.

Interviewed by NBC, MSNBC to be exact … Rangel tells the report that he asked a dumb question. It is rather amusing that Rangel’sfirst thought was this must be a FOX News guy trying to do gotcha journalism. Talk about your elitism and exactly what is wrong with politicians today. Rangel’s attitude is how dare you ask me such a question even though he has been charged with multiple ethics violations. Instead the Democrat learns that it is the far left leaning MSNBC. Sorry Charlie, but you do need to explain yourself.

What will Rangel do if Republicans win back the House in November and are in control? Correction, what are Democrats going to do when a House ethics investigation takes place on TV in September prior to the November midterm elections?

Frankly, I can’t believe the people in his district have kept electing him.. the past couple years.. crazy… Don’t know how Barney Frank keeps getting elected either..

Have these people found a way to fix the elections? I sometimes believe OBerry did.

      Finally. Took them long enough.

Barney Frank should be next. He’s got some serious dirt on too many up on the hill (and in other connected places across America) I’m afraid.

Sex Scandal Number 3,704 in Washington, anyone??? Corruption, American Style. He’d definetly be a Star who could easily be featured in most every episode. No one wants to say or do anything, too many affected. The house of cards would really fall big time & even more havoc throughout the Financial Sector and America’s Banking Industry.

Chairman of the Financial Ways & Means Committee, my Ass. Chairman of effing corruption is more like it.

[...] I guess Rangel does not think it’s un-American for a US House of Representatives member to be corrupt and facing multiple ethics violations. However, it is not Republicans that are calling for Rangel’s resignation, it is Democrats [...]

US Rep Charles Rangel is a veteran of two wars. He is a military hero that unlike some former veterans does not taunt his medals in the publics face (can anyone say John McCain). This is still America – where one is innocent until proven (yes, proven)guilty. I am sure once the dust and accusations settle this will be another in the same line of false accusations that have lived too long in this country. During the Obama run for president a campaign worker marked a B on her face and blamed an Obama supporter. Recently, a member of the Tea Party posted bits of a speech (yes, Shirley Sherrod) and had folks calling for her head only to discover she was sharing a story of why we (all people) need to be more tolerant and work together, however, the rush to judgement had her convicted and serving time for being something she is not. Shame on all of you for condeming a person who has done nothing but good for his district and this country. He served his country in battle against foreign enemies only to come home and be hammered by his own fellow Americans. You all should be ashamed.
