US Rep Charlie Rangel (NY-D) Charged with 13 Ethics Violations … No to Plea Deal

More from Nancy Pelosi’s most ethical Congress, EVER!

NY Democrat Charlie Rangel, the former chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee finds himself in a world of hurt as the House Ethics Committee threw the book at him yesterday and charged him with 13 ethics violations. Sorry Charlie, of what a tangled web we weave, when we practice to deceive.

rangel

How many violations … 13!!!

A scathing House ethics report charges that Rep. Charles Rangel, an iconic New York powerbroker, violated 13 ethics and federal regulations covering public officials, including pressuring lobbyists and corporations to cough up millions for a New York college building bearing Rangel’s name.

In releasing a “Statement of Alleged Violation” of against Rangel, investigators drew a portrait of a veteran lawmaker who used his office and staffers for his own personal benefit and aggrandizement, repeatedly running afoul of House financial disclosure rules. He now faces an ethics “trial” unless he’s able to cut a deal with the ethics committee.

The full Ethics report can be read HERE.

Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Speaks about Rangel’s Ethics violation in Feb 2010, Nancy … care to change your story?

There was thought to be a deal on the table (um, what ever happened to that promised transparency?) to prevent the ethics charges from going forward; however, not only did Republicans say no, so did Charles Rangel. However, any such deal to avoid Democrat embarrassment right before the November midterm elections was axed. The ethics trial will go forward in September. It is hard to imagine that Pelosi would allow this ethics nightmare to go forward right before the November midterms. The American voters already have an issue with the incumbent Congress in power. Would this be what is needed to have the undecided vote finally get off the fence and vote for the GOP. Nancy Pelosi promised the most ”ethical” Congress ever, this is hardly in keeping with her promises.

So this is what we get from a politician that has spent far too long in Congress and comes from a safe district … CORRUPTION! Can any one say TERM LIMITS!After the 13 ethics charges were made against Rangel we get the remorseful politician, cue the violins as Michelle Malkin says, as Sorry Charlie tells us he had a “bad day“.

Embattled New York Rep. Charles Rangel says he hasn’t had a bad day in 60 years. But “today I have to reassess that statement,” he told reporters on Capitol Hill.
Congressman Charles Rangel talks to press about ethics meeting today.

Charlie Rangel is now the poster child of exactly why the American voters are fed up with Congress and why ‘We the People” give them an 11% approval rating.

Transparency, my Arse. Rangel needed to be questioned and charged YEARS ago. This is what happens when Washington continues to look the other way. It’s just politics as usual, to be fair. Corrupt Politicians & Senate Members come from both sides of the aisle. Who has ethics when it comes to serving the American People???? That’s what we need to ask more often and Americans need to be much more diligent in exactly who we are electing!!!! Kind of simple–why do we continue to elect so many questionable Politicians to begin with?? Sure, a few are going to
get in anyway here and there—but come on, People! Can’t we all just pay attention a little bit more?

Pelosi is full of shizz and just as much of a liar and hypocrite as THE OBAMAMESSIAH-Bottom Line: In her position- it is her duty to remain UNBIASED, FAIR TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE AND FOCUSED. Just bc she is a DEM- doesn’t matter-while it’s expected for her to lean heavily left- it is STILL her duty to REACH ACROSS THE AISLE and not be CONSTANTLY PROMOTING an extremely dangerous and FAR LEFT- completely unbalanced Dem (OVER SPENDING BAIL OUT/STIMULUS PORKULUS BS BS BS LIES LIES MORE BS MORE LIES) SOCIALIST AGENDA and screw us ALL over as American Citizens! We end up footing the bill and paying the price every single time. Talk about the constant vascillating and back tracking, deceit and misrepresentation of the FACTS! Pardon me, but YOU SUCK Madame Speaker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Repeat- Transparency my butt! Hope & Change my Ass! HA ! **** Economy improving- My ass, ***

Apologies for the strong negativity….just very discouraged bc….Economy still sucks, even in here in Mass where there are ALWAYS PLENTY of good paying jobs and every sector is usually booming. When the economy still sucks here, it sucks everywhere even worse….trust me!

Buh-Bye, Charlie and Good Riddance, you Slimeball. We should completely clean the house and fire every bum in there! Start Fresh.

This is just more “crooks and bums” supported by the Democratic party. I hope they can find some criminal charges along with the ethics violations so that he can spend the remainder of his life in jail.

Democratic leaders are urging their members to cast the election as one about a choice between their party, which under President Barack Obama has overhauled health care and Wall Street, and a GOP-tea party combination that wants to roll back Democratic accomplishments.

House Republicans relished using Rangel to change the subject — especially if he does not reach a settlement with the ethics committee. A public trial equates to a free media presentation of the misdeeds of one of the most senior Democrats in the House.

The House Republicans’ campaign arm released a list of Democrats who have not returned campaign contributions they received from Rangel during their careers and said those lawmakers would face questions about the matter from constituents during the August break.

“It’s very difficult for Democrats to make the case that this is a ‘choice’ election when the national headlines are focused around an ethics scandal that has clearly impacted the party in power,” said Ken Spain, spokesman for the National Republican Campaign Committee.

Rangel retained many supporters Friday. The New York delegation and the Congressional Black Caucus, which was co-founded by Rangel, urged their colleagues not to rush to judgment. House leaders eager to avoid alienating black voters remained mum on what Rangel should do.

Some Democrats privately said they took a small measure of comfort in one revelation. Rep. Gene Green, the Texas Democrat who led the four-member bipartisan panel of investigators, told reporters that his committee recommended a relatively mild punishment for Rangel — reprimand, a statement of wrongdoing voted by the whole House that carries no other penalty.

But statements continued to trickle out that left no doubt that at some point, Democrats would have to look out for No. 1 – themselves.

“If at the trial’s conclusion Mr. Rangel is found guilty by his peers, then he should incur the full punishment allowed by the House, including removal from office,” said Rep. Bobby Bright, D-Ala.

I agree Charlie Rangel should’ve been out years ago.. Guess he was bringing home some great stuff to his district..Guy who writes the tax laws can’t live by them, but stands by silent while others go to jail for much less.

Was reading they’ve been investigatin Maxine Waters also..for ethics violations..

One of the most telling videos to me today is the one of the Freddie and Fannie Youtube video and the Democratic congress beating up on the regulator and saying such things as I see nothing wrong with Fannie and Freddie, this is a public lynching of Mr. Raines.. after the whistleblower showed they were cooking the books among other things at these 2 comapanies.. Freddie and Fannie that was giving loans to people who couldn’t afford them and were behind the big financial meltdown..and received govt. bailout money. Unbelievable none of these people have lost their jobs.

      Most ethical yeah right..
