Barack Obama not Just Offending Americans … Now The One Snubs Norwegians with Canceled Nobel Peace Prize Appearances

Obama offending some one other than Americans this time …

What Norwegians are upset with Barack Obama because he has snubbed them, treated them like they don’t exist and has blown off his Nobel Peace Prize appearance? Join the crowd folks and welcome to the snub party. One would think that people might be a bit more upset of the undeserving nature that Obama received the award, rather than him not showing up for the events.

Barack Obama’s trip to Oslo to pick up his Nobel peace award is in danger of being overshadowed by a row over the cancellation of a series of events normally attended by the prizewinner.

Norwegians are incensed over what they view as his shabby response to the prize by cutting short his visit.

The White House has cancelled many of the events peace prize laureates traditionally submit to, including a dinner with the Norwegian Nobel committee, a press conference, a television interview, appearances at a children’s event promoting peace and a music concert, as well as a visit to an exhibition in his honour at the Nobel peace centre.

He has also turned down a lunch invitation from the King of Norway.

Now Norway knows what it feels like to get some Barack Obama “Hope & Change”. Once the Nobel Peace Prize committee acted as useful idiots and awarded the prize to Obama, someone who should never have been given the award as he has done nothing to deserve it, he ignores them and is on to the next ego stroking event. Only 19% of Americans, according to a CNN poll think that Obama is deserving of the award.

The 19 percent who believe Obama deserves the award is down 13 points from a CNN poll conducted in October, soon after the award was announced.

“That number dropped 21 among Democrats and 10 points among independents, possibly due in part to Obama’s recent decision to send 30,000 more U.S. combat troops to the war in Afghanistan,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

The real question is not whether Obama will have lunch with the King Harald, it is whether The Chosen One will bow or not?

The Nobel peace award has put Mr. EGO over the top.

I really do not understand HOW you could give any man a award for peace when he running wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. MADNESS!

I would send 100,000 troops into Afghanistan or Pakistan. Lets end this war in seven months!
What is the objective? Bin Laden is dead and his second in command is living in Pakistan.
A Billion dollar bounty would end this in weeks if not days.

    2. TheOldWorld on December 10th, 2009 9:19 am

If he had sat through all of this, in his honor, wouldn’t you have written that he “stroked his ego” even more?
It would even have seemed to his supporters this way.

He can do no right in this situation that is not his fault. The nobel committee will be grumbling over their own decision for a while.
The one chance he had, was rejecting the nobel peace prize when he had the chance. That would have struck the nobel committee in the face and lost him the chance of winning it ever again. Well maybe.

Again, I see honesty in taking the prize and going. Or would you like a children choir singing to your praise when you did not believe you earned the damn thing?

His one fault was in not rejecting it. It would have irked the nobel committee mostly, and that would be ok in this case.

But in all honesty, could YOU reject the nobel peace prize?
      ________
SM: If I did nothing to deserve the award and there were other that actually risked their lives in political persecution for a better way of life for their people … YES, YOU ARE DAMN RIGHT I WOULD NOT ACCEPT THE AWARD and I would ask the committee to please award another more deserving candidate.

DO YOU HAVE ANY CHARACTER, WHAT SO EVER?

If Obama had done such a thing, I would and so many others, including Democrats, would have respected him more. That would have been leadership.

So if you were in the military and were in a battle where your entire platoon was wiped out and you were the sole survivor because you cowered in the corner and hid as opposed to facing the enemy head on like all your fallen soldier buddies … would you accept some award of bravery if bestowed on you? Hmm?

Obama has done nothing! He has made it worse in fact. Would the Nobel Peace Prize committee given GWB the award for putting more troops in Afghanistan? Hmm? Soldiers do not represent war, they represent peace. These are the people that allow you to write on this blog. They do the same for me.

To answer your question, yes I would have rejected the award. It is not like I have not done similar things in my life in the business world where i have given the credit to those that deserve a accolades, not take credit for some one else’s accomplishments.

Receiving an award for something you did not accomplish or deserve is hardly something to be proud of.

So the Norwegians actually believed that Obama would do what is compulsory rather than what is vainglorious?

They will mutter amongst themselves with little public scorn for the POTUS because it is not an honor that they bestowed upon Obama but another stick poked into the eye of George W. Bush and the rest of us “uncivilized” Americans.

Accepting an award the he doesn’t deserve, it seems understandable that BHO doesn’t want to stay in town long enough to fulfill duties associated with the award. Someone might actually wake up and realize that he’s a bag of wind and take the award back.

Oh, but he did manage to defame the USA again.

BHO should not have accepted an award he did not earn. He also should have not spewed all those evil carbons to go to Norway to accept it since he’s sucked into the fake global warming. Guess it’s do as I say not as I do and BHO and wife jet around the world and back with reporters in tow spewing carbon dioxide all the way.

Next week BHO flies to Copenhagen to spew more carbon dioxide and hot air.

Strange to me, the spiraling blue lights above Norway right at this time. If a failed Russian rocket, then why fired west rather than east as would be (I think) the coustom? I wounder if Obama has bigger problems than missing a steak dinner. Was this light show a ‘fire accross the bow’ of some sort? He may know precisely its intended ‘communication’. Just seems odd timing to me.

If we know Obama and his power machine to be manipulators and unsavory…he would not merely use that flaw on us alone.

    10. flutter1 on December 10th, 2009 12:25 pm

If Obama had a shred of decency, he would have told the Nobel Committee to send the $1.4 million to the causes that serve veterans and their families along with the $5,000 he could get if he melted down the medal.

Then he would have done the honorable thing and saved the atmosphere at the same time.

even the norwegians now have buyers’ remorse. mobama took his little trophy and split. all they have to do is take it back.
just like the healthcare reform, sticker shock and remorse will bring the libcrats to their knees.
no doubt try to blame bush for mobama’s bumbling

@6 Your post was proof that YOU are the one who needs to grow up and gain some reading comprehension skills while you’re at it.

      Here let me help!!!

SM article doesn’t say Obama didn’t show up, it says and I quote…

Barack Obama’s trip to Oslo to pick up his Nobel peace award is in danger of being overshadowed by a row over the cancellation of a series of events normally attended by the prizewinner.

Translated without all the big words

Obama’s trip was quick. He accepted the award and left, canceling the other events Nobel Peace Prize winners attend.

      Hey # 6 Gail,

You ever heard of SRA’s? Scholastic, Reading Appitude.

Man, some of you Obama apologists really need to learn how to read and not just spout off without a clue.

No wonder this community organizer got elected with brain surgeons like this out there.

    15. Teri on December 10th, 2009 11:37 pm

      @14 SM

Yep!!!-Sadly what you wrote is exactly why he was elected, there’s proof on every site from forums to news sites.

Anytime someone states any fact that shows Obama and Co in a negative light, it would make sense to me that people trying to defend him, use other proven facts. Do they? No. they attempt to disprove any facts by calling names and having others hop on and agree???

I don’t even think people know the reason why they voted Obama. Over and over when a, why did you vote for Obama, question is asked. I read similar answers. “I voted for Obama because I’m not a stupid, loser Republican moron like you!” Evidently they either don’t understand the question or have nothing else to offer.

    16. Scott on December 11th, 2009 7:22 am

The Nobel Peace Prize is laughable. It’s clear this award is voted on by WAY OUT IN LEFT FIELD NORWEIGAN (LOL) LIBERALS; and they hate George Bush.

Liberals in this country can not give a good answer as to why our President deserved this award over a woman who saved Jews by the truckload during the Holocaust. Give one? Just one logical and common sense answer? Liberals can’t because logic and common sense is not in their vocabulary.

Al Gore should give his award back too because we all know NOW the global warming is a HUGE FARCE….HUGE FRAUD!

This award is nothing but a trick and poney show now…PERIOD!

      #13 and #14,

Thanks for explaining why I couldn’t understand what #6 was saying. I reread the article and the responses, and still couldn’t understand what the comment was referencing.

      Beam me up, Scottie…

    18. TheOldWorld on December 11th, 2009 1:06 pm

Read the damn letter of the nobel committee why they thought he deserved the award.

You do not need to “capital letter” at me, I have good eyesight, thanks. You don’t know me, I don’t know you.

It is not a matter of hiding in a corner, it is a matter of having great respect for some of the figures that are associated with it and the knowledge that he is only at the beginning of his work. His work was momentous enough to award him.
      That is a fact.

He said himself that there were silent people, more deserving than him, but in this case, none of the people on the list today would be on the list.

But I bet you a dollar, that in 7 years, there will be much none who will deny him this award and his place among the few great personae on it.

This sounds overly sticky, doesn’t it. Ahh.. inspiration ;-)

    19. flutter1 on December 11th, 2009 2:26 pm

      #18

So using your explanation, it must have been Yasser Araft’s momentous work that won him the Nobel Peace Prize. The last time I looked, the Palestinians are still without a homeland and still waging war against Israel while Arafat is still known as a terrorist and a theif of the worst kind.

Under no criteria can Barrack Obama’s momentous work compare with that of such past winners as Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa, Lech Walesa, and Elie Wiesel. Those individuals life’s work involved moral courage, momentous sacrifice and unfailing service to others and to a cause more important than their own self-aggrandizement.

Those are the people who have been spit in the face by this Nobel Committee’s desire to reward not Barack Obama, but the ultra-liberals of this country who carried him into office and now are having misgivings about their choice.

And never confuse facts with opinions. Those just stated are mine, the ones you have stated are yours, and the ones which caused this travesty of an “honor” to be bestowed on Obama, is theirs — not facts. If the committee is happy with their choice, so be it, but they have forever tarnished the reputation of an award set up with the such high moral aspirations.
