Scared Monkeys Turns 20,000,000 … A Special Thanks to All Our Readers

SCARED MONKEYS … 20,000,000 Served!

We would like to thank all of our past and present readers and commenters on both the Front page and in our Forums. Thank you for being a part of Scared Monkeys. Thank you for taking the time to make a difference. Don’t ever think that your voice cannot be heard.

SM_LOGO

Scared Monkeys has always been about providing an array of news, politics, current event stories, crime, missing persons, humor, Vanderbilt’s artwork and editorials so that you the reader can become informed and participate and be interactive in the process. 20,000,000 visits later and nearly 60,000,000 page views. Many first became associated with SM during the Natalee Holloway case. Many others have become readers and members since.

A long the way having MSM producers, state, local and federal LE reading through the numerous posts and comments. Scared Monkeys has always treasured it’s relationship with Texas Equusearch and the selfless volunteer work they do for families of of missing. Scared Monkeys has been featured on TV, radio and print.  SM  has provided back ground info to MSM and made special guest appearance on Court TV going up against the bad guys. SM has also been a part of many missing person and crime cases behind the scenes and even found it’s way into the exhibits for the defense in the Kalpoe’s v. Dr Phil case.

Scared Monkeys was always meant to be a community where one could go for a multitude of stories. The main focus is obviously crime, missing persons and politics. However, SM has also been a place to have fun as well. I learned a long tome ago if you cannot laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at. However, there is also a serious side to what SM does. We have not just written about crime and missing persons cases, we have participated in them as well. SM was one of the first to put their volunteerism where their keyboard was an participate in searches for the missing. I will never forget the day that Tim Miller asked whether I wanted to help search for Natalee Holloway. It was not about covering a story, it was about helping find a missing girl. We thank the many Monkeys who have taken the time and given  of them self for other in helping in missing person searches as well.

A long the road we have been fortunate enough to bring on Dana Pretzer of The Dana Pretzer Show and the multitude of amazing guests and pundits that have taken part in his weekly show. Ask yourself, what guest that you see on TV who has not been a special guest on Dana’s show? With guests like Wendy Murphy, Clint Van Zandt, Tim Miller, Pat Brown, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Stacy Dittrich, Diane Dimond, Mark Williams, Cyril Wecht and Robin Sax just to name a few.

Most recently we have added Blink and Blink on Crime to the Scared Monkeys stable. All one has to do is read the crime posts and instantly understand the tremendous work and dedication that she and her team do on crime stories. BOC is a site unto itself that has taken off due to the great writing and sleuthing by Blink and her investigative team. For exclusive, original content there is no where else to go. BOC has instantly become one of the best new crime blogs on the Internet today.

Lastly, I would be remiss not to thank you, the readers. You make it possible. Although we never expect everyone to agree all the time we are appreciative that it is most respectful.  A thanks also goes out to our Forum moderators, San, CBB, Nut44x4, 2NJson, Bearlyhere and Muffybee.  A special thanks goes to Klaas. Anyone who reads or has spent time on Scared Monkeys knows the hard work that Klaas provided. Thanks!

It has been an amazing ride with so many bumps, turns, hills, valleys and server crashes. Thanks to all who made it possible and here is to the future and the many innovations and special surprises down the road.

With Much Appreciation, Red

      Hello.
Yes there is a time to say to each other: many of us did their best to do, to give, to speak or write… like Scared Monkeys helped us to “speak” to each other. As for Natalee…
The silence around her sometimes seems like walking on a grave yard.
Some under us perhaps think: you seek her here and you seek her there… you can find her everywhere.

Perhaps we can only wait. If Natalee is still alive someday we hear from her if the time is there.
      Perhaps never…
Dropping in the sea makes no money.
If she’s no longer among us anyone could have layed her in a freezer… to make money.
You know: some people do everything for some money.
If so, I wished they did. Then we can finish our hope fot better times.

But we all have to go on with our lives.
      And breaking news
… that’s why Scared Monkeys is there.
      For us all!

Thank you Scared Monkeys and friends.

Thanks for giving us such a great place to find the latest information, meet friends, cry over injustice, and then put on our big girl panties and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Thank you for making sure that someone is there to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. SM is all that, along with a wonderful crew, great sleuthers, and our very own change of clothes for the season, it’s the one stop shop.

I heard Santa reads here to find out who has been naughty or nice.

While fighting the slander, victim blaming and Aruban distractions on other message boards, I was happy to find a site that was holding to supporting the family of Natalee Holloway, looking for her and justice. That justice was never fully realized, but there’s no doubt that Scared Monkeys played a key role in not letting the guilty parties walk away without black hearts sown on their sleeves for the rest of their lives. Incomplete justice for sure, but Joe Tacopina and others could not protect them, in large part because of this site and its members. SM often had the story before the media.

Dana’s shows are not only informative and interesting, but his habit of letting his guests speak for more than 30 seconds has given me a better understanding of various cases and issues.

While I don’t venture into the forum anymore, I still check in on the front page and read, occasionally comment. I appreciate the links and commentary.

Finally, and most importantly, I have met and become good friends with a few whom I met here. Thank you, Red, Klaas and Dana. Keep up the great work you do.

A heartfelt thank you to Scared Monkeys for keeping us informed, fighting the “good fight”, and putting up with some unnecessary crap :-)

Thanks to all you monkeys out there :-) I first learned about this site while posting on the Yahoo message boards shortly after Natalee Holloway disappeared.

Speaking of Natalee, here’s an interesting article…

Natalee Holloway added to Alabama Department of Public Safety missing children list
By Jeremy Gray — The Birmingham News
      November 06, 2009, 8:02PM

On Thursday, more than four years after the Mountain Brook teen disappeared while on a senior trip in Aruba, Natalee Holloway was added to a list of missing children on the Alabama Department of Public Safety Web site.

Special Agent Judy Orihuela, a spokeswoman with the Miami office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said tonight that Holloway’s family requested that information be added to the site.

The notice describes her as an “endangered” missing person and lists her current age as 23. It asks that anyone with information call 1-800-228-7688.

Holloway disappeared on May 30, 2005 hours before she and classmates from Mountain Brook High School were to return home from their trip.

Orihuela said she did not know what prompted the family to request that her picture be posted alongside 13 other missing children and teens from across Alabama, some who have been missing for more than 10 years and others who disapperared as recently as a few months ago.

In March, an investigator hired by Holloway’s father, Dave Holloway, who has said many times that he would not give up until all options were exhausted, searched a pond in Aruba. Nothing was found. Holloway’s mother, Beth Holloway, has also continued to press for answers in the case and in April ”Loving Natalee,” a book about her family’s ordeal, was published.

Red, your site is such a positive force. I started reading here more than five years ago, and have been here ever since. Your stories/analysis/viewpoints are truly enlightening and comforting, especially in today’s mixed-up world. Keep up the good work!!!

    18. Carpe on November 8th, 2009 4:39 am

Congrats to the superb SM Staff for
keeping sanity alive and well on the
      Internet.

      …and for most importantly…

Keeping the Natalee Holloway story front and center, when 99.9% of the mainstream media
took a dump after they figured the lucrative
ratings points for the story had been played out.

In the end, you are judged by your actions. Money is tish! You didn’t come into the world with it
and you won’t be taking it with you when it is
      time to go, either.

SM did Natalee Holloway and her family members
very proud. They stand on the right side of history for all the correct reasons.

I feel privileged to post on a website that
has an endless supply of human compassion.

Compassion for others stems from your soul.

Nat is my heart and soul, and she will not be forgotten. What happened to her was wrong and
it will be made right one day. If God is kind,
I still have 30 to 40 more years in me to help
make things go right. A new day will come over
the horizon, and despite the frustratingly long arc of time in waiting for it, it will be a
good day! One of reckoning, a settling of
      overdue accounts.

Human memory is a terrible thing to let go to waste.

    19. NewGirlBoston on November 8th, 2009 9:28 pm

Congrats to all the Staff & Volunteers @ SM & BOC for all you do to provide us with 2 great Websites. Blink really is amazing…love her!

Been coming here since 2005, and no matter how crazy & busy life can get—-it really is a little bright spot in my week to log on here to do some reading & thinkinn & laughing. There is some funny stuff here, and sorry- but I even have love for the whack job trolls. lol

Knowledge truly is is power- and the ability to be able to express oneself freely in conjunction with gaining pertinent information on current issues is kind of like a 2 for 1 Sale at the Mall!

Keep up all the great work

    23. Waterboy on November 19th, 2009 8:07 am

      S.M.

Thanks for some wonderful hard work. It has been a long road for sure.

I think we all know what happen to Natalee, who did it, and why.

Some of the more outrageous theories for sure have some truth. Some are perhaps the whole truth, but only speculation by those who made them.

I think anyone who has been here for anytime in the past knows my theory of where Natalee is hidden.

I for one would enjoy a second time around. I know I’m wiser this time. It would be like knowing the future. Maybe by reviewing the past, we can change the future.

I would appreciate running the old articles again. That is any that had the most post—say 100 or more. I can’t decide if the old comments should be run, but maybe the ones that are respectful of others would be good. It would be interesting to see how our thoughts have evolved.

Good to see you post, Crossbow.

      Jerry

    24. crossbow on November 25th, 2009 3:25 pm

There is an aerial view of the Sloot’s house with a Dana furniture truck inside the gate.
Does anyone know who took the photo, when it was taken and why?
It was either from a chopper at low altitude or higher using a telephoto lens.

    25. Waterboy on November 30th, 2009 11:56 pm

      Crossbow,

For sure, I don’t know. We’ve talked about it before. Seems the Sloots got some new furniture shortly after Natalee disappeared. Why the areal photo was taken, I don’t know. Probable someone was checking for something different each day.

I’d love to have an expensive drone with photo capabilities. It would be fun for sure. My wife tells me I have too many toys for a man my age.

We seem to have been excluded from the game before it even got started. Natalee didn’t have a chance even if she lived past the first day, which I doubt. There are too many evil forces working on that island.

I’ve wondered why they picked Natalee. I really think they had multiple targets in mind, and settled on Natalee at the last opportunity.

Do we have any doubt who did it, why, and how- come the investigation never got off the ground?

This is why I would like to start fresh, and discuss again the details. We are all wiser.

I don’t know what I would do if I were Natalee’s mom or dad. I don’t even want to go there.

I think I would have such vengeance that I might do something I would regret. I’m sure they have thought about it. It needs to be only a thought.

      Jerry

    30. Carpe on December 5th, 2009 12:51 am

2010 will be a good year for Natalee’s case.

The light is always shining, but sometimes it can’t be seen due to current sky conditions.

However, the illumined ones are still here,
and still very much determined to find her.

We ride the light, because it is the way.

      *Never give up

In order to close a circle, you have to complete
the circuit. That has not come yet but, I do believe that it WILL. Patience is a virtue.

Time flows forward and can never be stopped.

This is a law that can not be skewed or bent.

Not even by dirty filthy corrupt murdering

Justices in Aruba. Van der sloot cash dripping

in human blood is not enough to avert this law.

It was a law coded long before the Van der sloot

clan learned to walk upright on two legs.

They are nothing, they will die the deaths of mad dogs. For, a pack of rabid dogs is precisely
      what they are!

      Natalee’s day is coming.

Ty to Scared Monkeys for always be Number 1 on the Natalee Holloway story.. I first came here, because I was disgusted with all the stuff coming out of Aruba. One liar after another.. Dompig, Jacobs, Straten, Renfro, etc..Sloots, Kalpoes and couldn’t believe what I was watching on tv night after night.. and how a victim’s family was treated or a victim. One thing has remained constant in 4 years.. Natalee Holloway was last seen alive in the company of Deepak, Satish and Joran. Not one thing has changed that and not one person has seen her since.. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of Natalee. and I don’t believe she ever lived past the night she went missing. Natalee didn’t stand a chance amongst all these creeps. Screw Aruba..
