Jaycee Lee Dugard Missing for 18 Years Since June 1991 Found Alive … Walked into a Northern California Police Station

Jaycee Lee Dugard had been missing since June 10, 1991. She was last seen  as she walked JAYCEE LEE DUGARD1to her bus stop in South Lake Tahoe, California. She was reported abducted by two individuals when she was 11 years old.

FLASH FORWARD 18 YEARS … JAYCEE LEE DUGARD FOUND ALIVE!!!

After 18 years, 29 year old Jaycee Lee Dugard walked into a California police station. A convicted sex offender and his wife were arrested in the kidnapping of Jaycee Lee Dugard. For 18 years Jaycee Lee Dugard had been kept as a sex slave. How many times do we need to say it, there is no such thing as a one time sex offender and they cannot be cured. Paroling sex offenders and unleashing them on an unsuspecting society should never be an option.

Police said she recently walked into a Northern California police station with Phillip Garrido, 58, one of her alleged captors. He and his wife Nancy Garrido, 54, were arrested for investigation of kidnapping and conspiracy on Wednesday, police said.

Phillip Garrido is also being held for investigation of rape by force, lewd and lascivious acts with a minor and sexual penetration, said Jimmie Lee, a spokesman for the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department.

Phillip Garrido was sentenced to 50 years in prison and served nearly 11 years in Nevada for a federal kidnapping conviction, said Suzanne Pardee, a spokeswoman for Nevada state prisons

According to sources, Jaycee Lee Dugard bore several children for the 58 year old sex offender Phillip Garrido.

The unnamed authorities also told the TV station that the victim, Jaycee Lee Dugard, bore several children for the sex offender, Phillip Garrido, 58, and they said Garrido and his wife, Nancy, 54, held Dugard in a shed or other structure in the backyard.

According to the police press conference there was a back yard within a back yard with sheds where Jaycee Lee Dugard and her two children lived out of sight of the public. The suspects were being held in El Dorado County. Nancy Garrido was being held on $4.195 million bail and Phillip Garrido was not eligible for bail because he is a parolee.

The only thing worse than sex offenders is this witch hunt mentality that lumps them all into the worst possible category–especially since the label of “sex offender” is being applied to cases that are clearly not rape.

Phillip Garrido, and Nancy Garrido, should get the death penatly for their sicko actions.

    5. Laura Thomas on August 27th, 2009 7:38 pm

Death penalty without possibility of parole or appeal… they should execute child molestors and kidnappers and not force the taxpayers to feed them and pay their lawyers fees… for the rest of us law-abiding citizens, no one else pays our lawyer fees or gives us free food, and we don’t harm children.

    6. deeindvl on August 27th, 2009 7:47 pm

Victims should have the right to sue the state and feds when they release a sex offender and he repeats his crime. Maybe if there were some payouts they’d learn to keep these scum in prison or better yet fry’um

heads up to Clayton, AL…..David Weeks has been released from prison after serving a 15 year sentence for kidnapping and rape of my daughter. I made sure he served every damn day of it, but he’s out now and he’s in your town….

    7. Aunt D on August 27th, 2009 9:10 pm

The guy that kidnapped and raped Jaycee should go to prison forever. This was not his first offense, and why on earth would he be allowed out of prison. If he had been serving a life sentence Jaycee would not have been taken. We need better protection for our children. First offense should be their last offense!

      #2 WTF?

I am still in a state of shock, just glued to my computer to see if there is any new information on this case. I look at the pictures of this 11-year-old girl and think of the 29-year-old woman she was to become had she not been taken by this couple. Then I think of what she must have endured (the little we know at this point). A very dear friend of ours has a daughter who is 11, and I think of her (her mind — the mind of an 11-year old child), and what would become of her if this were to happen to her at this point in her life? Then I think of my own 21-year old daughter and how beautiful she is, and how wonderful and blessed her life is (college, friends, family, health, etc.) and ALL that she has to look forward to.

I am so overwhelmed with grief for this girl/woman. I am at a loss for words.

There is no suitable punishment for this couple. Life in prison, death penalty, an eye for an eye… none of these would “enough”.

Thank you to the campus police officer who took the next step to make the phone call and inquiry. After suspicions were raised, I think Garrido must have known it was over… which is why he brought all the three girls to the meeting. He knew he was going to confess. (Maybe not, that’s just what I’m thinking at this point.)

    9. 11B40 on August 27th, 2009 10:05 pm

      Greetings:

Question: If Phillip Garrido was on parole, shouldn’t there have been some supervision of where he was living and/or working?

    10. Jayne on August 27th, 2009 10:28 pm

Actually he had to go to his Parole officer and explain why he had two girls with him. He was stopped by campus police at Berkely while passing out fliers for his crazy religion. He showed up with wife, and Jaycee and the two girls. Had to explain who they where and why he was in their company. A campus police officer did what the CA. parole system failed to do. They want to release tens of thousands of these perps in our state.

    11. chrissy on August 27th, 2009 11:02 pm

When will child molesters get life with no chance of parole?
it is in my personal opinion just as bad as murder.
When will society recognize this. They should bring out the stats to see how many sex offenders re-offend.
Something should be done. Glad she is safe now.

    12. KK on August 27th, 2009 11:23 pm

How many times does it take for the Judges to realize that these Perps do not deserve 2nd chances nor to be let back into society after their first convictions or offenses. This Young lady would not have been taken by this POS if he would have remained behind bars. As for #2 Tanya I think what she means is that not all who are convicted as a SO are actually Sex offenders. There are some people that are on the SO list for such acts as urinating in public, having a consenting relationship with a 17 yr old female when the Perp/Male is 19 or 20. Parents prosecute the Boy. Its a life long record that sticks. But this Man who did what he did to Jaycee- He deserves Death. He robbed her from her life. He should have never been let out the first time.
Sick and Wrong in so many ways.

    13. justice4nat on August 27th, 2009 11:34 pm

When Phillip Garrido was arrested, he said he had turned his life around and was quoted as saying “If you take this a step at a time, you’re going to fall over backward and in the end you’re going to find the most powerful, heartwarming story.”

Excuse me?!?!? What the **** are you smoking Mr. Garrido?!?!?!

What is so heartwarming about you and your wife kidnapping an innocent 11 year old girl, your stealing her virginity, subjecting her to God only knows what of your depravity, forcing her to bear your children, and forcing her and your children to live outdoors in conditions not much better that sleeping in a barn!!!

Oh…#2, In what state were you forced to register? You are either high, stupid, or a victim of the witchhunt that ” attaches the label of “sex offender” to cases that are clearly not rape.

    14. bob on August 28th, 2009 1:31 am

#2 is right. You have people on sex offender lists who are 18 and have consenual sex with a 16 year old girl. I man who lives across the hall from me is on Megan’s list. He had sex with a 16 year old girl. That isn’t pedophilia.

#2 Keep you eye on the ball.

WTH does your comment have to do with this story? Or any story where a POS like Phillip Garrido abducts a 11 yo girl to be a sex slave.

      Witch Hunt?

      Get a clue.

It is too bad these sex offenders are not hunted down in a better manner. A perfect example is this case. For 18 years no one had a clue that Jaycee Lee Dugard was being held in th back yard with her 2 kids. One of them born when she was 14!

How difficult is it to check a sex offenders home and property? There are family members who bare blame as well.

They knew this creep was a convicted sex offender, saw him with children and thought they may be his because they had hos eyes, yet said nothing!

      SHAMEFUL

thanks SM for speaking up against the post from #2…All Sex Offenders should be placed on an island out in the middle of no where and left to do what every they see fit to each other…get rid of them all (not kill as someone suggest) just lock em up throw away a the key, I, like #6 deeindvl have 2 daughters who were victims sadly the perp was my brother and he can root in prison for the rest of his life, he has 10 years left on a 20 year sentence and the monster will be out again to harm children sad and wrong, he can never be cured ever… I could care less about him, I care about when he released, my job is to fight for the survivors of these horrible crimes…I say stick them in a ship and send them to the moon, use my taxes for that OBAMA….

    20. dee dee on August 28th, 2009 7:35 am

This creep should receive the penalty chosen by Jaycee and her parents. Can you even imagine what he has put the parents through, and he basically stole part of this girls life. I have a daughter, and I could give them some ideas of what I would do to this piece of shit. He should be treated now like the animal that he is, not as a human.

    21. Block Heater on August 28th, 2009 9:00 am

Its a miracle that she is still alive. What is important now is that Jaycee can finally be with her family.

    22. Jessica on August 28th, 2009 11:44 am

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about a humane way to give ex-sex offenders their freedom, while not putting any children or women in their path.

The best logical solution I can conceive of is shipping them to a remote part of Alaska, ya know somewhere in which they are unlikely to “walk” out of and back into civilization. Leave them all, every last one of them there TOGETHER. Leave the essentials they need to provide for their own safety. Nothing more than a poor child would have in any 3rd world nation. If its good enough for them, it should be good enough for a violent sexual offender.

I am not talking about a 26 yr old who thought he was having sex with an 18 yr old, who ended up being 16…I’m talking about an adult raping a child, or sexually assualting them in anyway…or an adult raping or sexually assualting a woman.

I was thinking, why not send everyone here? Murders, people on death row…ect. Anyone that we NEVER want to see end up back in court, ship them to the Alaskan Wilderness…

Without women, this population will die, eventually. And thats the point. These sick people should not have the ability to spread their diseased seed.

    23. Dan on August 28th, 2009 12:41 pm

I think Jaycee should sue the state for letting this non-human out on a prior kidnapping and rape charge. I think this case should open the eyes of the people asleep at the justice wheel. For me this what the death penalty is for.

    24. Sharon Chicago on August 28th, 2009 12:50 pm

Those poor little girls of Kaycee I am sure where molested/raped by that evil demonic man.
How devistating for Kaycee and for her mother who lost her all those years ago.

Now Kaycee has bounded with this evil demon. I pray that she gets all the help she can to overcome this horrible trauma.

#2 and #14 – WTF? Your comments and opinions have absolutely nothing to do with this case. Go complaint to someone who gives a rat’s arse.

    27. A Texas Grandfather on August 28th, 2009 4:02 pm

This is the greatest reason for not allowing parolle to be given by the courts, or an unelected parolle board. The state of Arizona allowed the slimeball to have parolle and he promptly moved out of state so he could not be supervised.
PAROLLE DOESEN’T WORK! IT HAS NEVER WORKED AND NEVER WILL WORK.
Criminals are mostly into getting what they want without regard for the law or the rights of others. This is an illiness that is not curable. Depending on the nature of the crime, I am for putting them to sleep permanently and letting GOD take care of them. The death penality as practiced in most states is worthless because of the many, many appeals and the years it takes to do them. This allows the criminal more rights than his/her victim(s).
This is upside-down to what should be happening. We can only blame the Courts and the lawyers for this problem.

    28. poorblogger on August 28th, 2009 4:21 pm

I think this is not the first time I’ve heard about this story. Why want to give Philip Garido more lives??? Death sentences is the best way..

      Parole is not suitable now..

    29. ANewGirl on August 28th, 2009 5:14 pm

There is only one solution—and this is one of those henious crimes that does not deserve life behind bars while our tax dollars pay for somewhere warm to sleep at night and 3 squares a day.

THIS is one of the instances when we must condone the death penalty!!!!!! HOW DARE people like this are allowed to have an existence after they are caught. They still have time to squander as they sit on death row and exhaust numerous appeals to boot. There is no other choice, and I say that as a God fearing person. It’s just simple, scum like this does not deserve to live.

    30. Susan on August 28th, 2009 6:36 pm

How could something so shockingly unbelieveable happen right in our own backyards (so to speak) in America, or anywhere else for that matter?

It’s a tragedy this happened at all, but to point the finger at an innocent man (Jaycee’s stepdad) for years was totally uncalled for.

THe Garidos need to be SHOT AT SUNDOWN!! That’s right, no trial, no mercury!!

    31. ANewGirl on August 28th, 2009 8:51 pm

#14—Tell you what—the people in this case are NOT the same as the Man who lives across the hall with you that had sex with a 16 year old. Give me a freakin’ break here, buddy! We are talking about 2 adults that abucted a MINOR, kept her in a shed like a dog for her whole life- had forcible sex and impregnated her and then made her and those children live like animals! WTF????????????? Do you see a difference here or are you that ignorant?!?! How you can bring up some loser across the hall from you and even compare is beyond all reasoning!

Let’s keep it simple—guy who lives across the hall from you- just a dumbass that had sex with a consenting 16 YEAR OLD, and got called on it.

The perpertrators in this story= EVIL & DEMENTED.

    32. bob on August 29th, 2009 12:41 am

#31–My point is that they are BOTH on Megan’s list. Do you think Megan’s list should be for those who have consensual sex with a 16 year old? And are forced to register as sex offenders for the rest of their lives? THAT is my point. I pointing out the profound difference!

    33. Just Bearly on August 29th, 2009 3:14 am

Eerily similar to the case that surfaced in Austria last year…. My prayers go out to the victim(s) and her family. The perps do not deserve trials at tax payers expense…

    34. ANewGirl on August 29th, 2009 8:29 am

#32-Bob—Sorry, but YES! I do think they should be on the same list- regardless of the degree of the offense. Here’s the most discouraging thing also—it’s been proven time and time again that even convicted sex crime perps on the list slip through the cracks and still continue to harm innocent people when they are out on parole. Are there any easy answers?- No—the system doesn’t work as well as it should.

You’re Neighbor is still a dumbass in my opinion—sex with a minor is not something that should happen. Period. He took the chance and went there (since the little head thought for the big head) and he has no one to blame but himself. All he had to do was select a female 2 years older-so cut the sob story right there. If having to have sex with a minor (even with the female party consenting) was THAT important to him—maybe by the time his offspring enter puberty he could preach what consequences took place in his own life and set a better example for his children moving forward! Correct me if I’m wrong—but isn’t that what men for generations have been referring to as “jail bait”—meaning you just don’t go there! DUH

    35. Sweetie_pi on August 30th, 2009 5:16 am

I understand that several neighbors made eye contact with jaycee when she first appeared at the monster’s backyard. she even told her name Jaycee to a young boy on the other side visiting, who is 27 today, but since he was young and visiting he never understood about the missing Jaycee. Each contact was met with fences going up, repaired, etc. and there was a soundproofed building… god knows what went on in there. whatever she had to do to stay alive and SANE should not be second-guessed.

I hope she gets the peace and quiet she needs for as long as she needs to come to grips with this, and heal, and move on in a positive way. There is a lot she can teach others eventually I bet. She must have incredible spirit and intelligence to make it this far… ALIVE.

I light a candle for her spirit to live in all the countless Jaycee’s we know are still out there, in some form of heinous captivity, may they also be freed and come home alive.
