BOTOX TAX … Plastic Surgery Tax Eyed As Revenue Raiser … or is it BOTAX?

Is there anything that these people will not tax? Hell, they will tax your dreams if they could. Oh wait, they already do.

An excise tax on cosmetic surgery, are you joking? What would Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi say? What would have the recently departed Michael Jackson have said? The Senate Finance Committee is looking into a 10% excise tax on cosmetic surgery deemed not medically necessary. Wait until these politicians define “medically necessary.”

Face-lifts, tummy tucks and hair transplants could be hit with a new tax to help finance the trillion-dollar healthcare overhaul plan, according to sources familiar with the Senate talks.

The Senate Finance Committee has discussed imposing a 10 percent excise tax on cosmetic surgery deemed unnecessary for medical purposes. The idea was broached in a meeting with OMB Director Orszag in mid-July, after which Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus told reporters he had heard some “interesting,” “creative,” and “kind of fun” ideas.

From Weasel Zippers, you can bet your bottom dollar that the Congress will look to exempt themselves from this tax. What say you Nancy Pelosi and John Kerry?

What Would the MSM Say if GWB Played Golf 10 Times in 10 Weeks During a Recession Like Barack Obama?

Do as I say, not as I do. Is this really the image a President dealing with a recession should have? It appears that not only does President Barack Obama find time to accuse doctors of putting fees ahead of patient care and accuse police of racially profiling when none existed; The One also finds time to play golf ten times in as many weeks. All this during a recession when Americans are losing their jobs, losing their homes and asked to make sacrifices.

The question that comes to mind is, how would the MSM react if this was GWB or any Republican president? Would the terms out of touch be used? Is the president allowed some time off and play a round or two, of course. However, would not it also be a nice example if he cut back on his play time as most Americans find them selves sacrificing during this economy. But alas, it is not like he is the President who promised change. With a recession/depression at hand, is this really the image to “We the People” that a president should have?

President Obama has become quite the golf fanatic since he began his presidency.

The commander in chief is out on the links again today, playing a round at Andrews Air Force Base. This is the 10th time in as many weeks that Obama has found time to squeeze in some golf (all weekends, except for one Monday.)

In fact, the White House press corps has come up with a nickname to refer to the President’s golfing habits: “The First Duffer,” as they refer to him in pool reports when he’s hitting the links.

One can only imagine the newspaper headlines and top TV news stories if Bush were in office, “Out of Touch President Golfs While Americans Suffer.” Oh wait, courtesy of the Gateway Pundit … George W. Bush stopped golfing in honor of the troops fighting in Iraq, he thought it the wrong thing to do. Barack Obama … more change.

Barack Obama … A Teaching Moment, Who’s? 46% of Voters Say Obama handled Cambridge Police, Crowley, Gates Arrest Poorly

The “teachable moment” is don’t play the race card and call people racists when it does not exist. Stop using the race card as a weapon! Racism is born from ignorance, what do we call it when one uses racism was a weapon?

Barack Obama … the teaching moment is yours. This may be a hard fact to swallow but not all white police officers are out to get the black man. It is actually disturbing that a sitting President of the United States assumed the worst of law enforcement before having none of the facts.

How can the teaching moment be one of racial profiling when that did not even occur during the incident between professor Gates and police officer Crowley? How does one have a teaching moment based on a false premise, a lie if you will? We might as well have a teaching moment on domestic abuse while we are at it, because that didn’t happen either and it goes on every day.

Juan Williams, on Fox News Sunday, did the country an immense service by recounting what exactly occurred: “The president spoke without the facts. You can’t have a ‘teachable moment’ if it’s based on a lie.”

What is the teaching moment that President Barack Obama is talking about when it comes to having  Harvard professor Gates and police officer Crowley over to the White House for a beer? By the way, who’s teaching moment is it, Obama’s?

Is it any wonder that by a 46% to 26% that American voters think that Barack Obama handled the incident involving a white Cambridge, Massachusetts policeman and a black Harvard professor poorly. Barack Obama was elected in part and seen as a racial healer. Instead, he admittingly fanned the flames of racism and created a national race issue from an incident where none existed.

Maybe Barack Obama can learn to not rush to judgment? Maybe the Obamamessiah can learn to not play the race card where none exists? Maybe The One can learn to actually gather the facts of a situation for bad mouthing the police and realize that just because someone is his friend, does not make them right? Maybe Obama can learn that it was not the police who racially profiled, but it was he, Barack Obama, who had it in his heart and mind with no facts that a white cop had to have wronged a black man?

What should be most disturbing to all Americans is that President Obama knew this question was coming in advance. On today’s Fox News Sunday, presidential press secretary Robert Gibbs admitted President Obama had been prepared to answer questions about the Henry Louis Gates arrest at his press conference last week.  So how did Obama not calculate his words properly when he knew in advance what he would say, hmm?

Just bizarre and tragic on so many levels …

25 year old Alexis Cohen, an ex-American Idol contestant was killed early Saturday morning in  Seaside Height, NJ by a hit and run driver. According to reports, her autopsy indicated she suffered chest, head and abdominal injuries caused by the collision.

A sad and tragic way to go. Many will remember Alexis Cohen’s aired audition with American Idol in January 2008 when she failed to impress the judges. Cohen then went postal after being rejected by the Idol judges and has a thing or two to say about Simon Cowell. Sadly, her 15 minutes of fame were captured for eternity on YouTube.

From her audition, Alexia seemed a bit of a troubled soul, however, no one deserves to be killed by a cowardly hit and run driver.

Alexis Cohen, Rest in Peace

23 year old Daniel Bark of Toms River, NJ was arrested Sunday night in the hit and run death of Alexis Cohen. Bark has been charged with second degree manslaughter.
A New Jersey man was arrested Sunday and charged with the death of former “American Idol” contestant Alexis Cohen during a hit-and-run accident at the Jersey Shore.

Daily Commentary – Monday, July 27th, 2009 – President Obama,A Rookie Mistake?

  • Will President Barack Obama take the opportunity to pull his foot out of his mouth? Will The One take the time to apologize for himself seeing that he has no problem apologizing for America overseas? Racial Profiling is an issue; however, the police did not in this case. It was the President who rushed to judgment … will “Beer” diplomacy be the answer?
