Does the picture of Air Force One flying low over the Statue of Liberty really look like a $328,835 photo? With the resignation of Louis Caldera, Barack Obama’s former director of the White House Military Office, many thought this controversy was over … but is it?
Ann Althouse brings up some interesting speculation as to other reasons why the flyover was done. As she states, “but look at the picture. Why would people going to all this trouble and expense to get a photograph that looked so awful?” Many people have asked that very same question. Why would a photo be taken from the cockpit of a fighter plane? One would think that a fighter would be equipped with a reconnaissance camera. After all, isn’t that what they did in the movie, Behind Enemy Lines? Heck, Scared Monkeys has dealt with search teams that use unmanned drones that do recon pics for search areas for missing persons where the quality looked better than this photo.
So Ann asks the next most obvious question, “Maybe the pilot took a photograph, but that can’t have been the purpose of the flight. So JAL has the right question: Who was in Air Force 1?” I idea is that since the photo was so bad at such a cost, maybe there was an alternative motive as to why Air Force One was there is the first place. Since the official review of the fiasco, seen HERE, created more questions than answered … It’s time to release the manifest.
As Moe Lane states, you know that really is a lousy picture for the price tag. Here is the picture from the official White House site. From Protein Wisdom, of course the picture is crappy, New Jersey is visible, and we’re ready to cough just from looking at the air pollution evident in that photo. That’s funnier than 95% of the jokes from the White House Correspondence dinner over the weekend.
We had speculated from the outset of this flyover fiasco that how could such a ridiculous and beyond stupid premise of a 747 plane be allowed to fly over Manhattan followed by a fighter plane. How could any thinking adult not stand up and put an end to this as fast as the idea came off someone’s lips? Any thinking person had to know that it was a terrible idea and would cause chaos in the streets of NY. All this for a photo-op and a poor one at that. There are only two possibilities. Either all involved in the fiasco are incompetent or there was another reason why this stunt took place.
The grassy knoll has now met Air Force One and the flyover fiasco can do nothing but make you sit back and make you go hmm.

Amateur Hour in the Office of the President. Barry should
have known the whereabouts of AF1 at all times even if
he actually did not. It has a bit to do with his security, no?
Good help is hard to find these days. His hiring practices
(cabinet posts, etc.) leave reasonable folks scratching their
heads. Too many Clinton Era retreads are spoiling the broth.

Obama made the decision. Michelle and her

That is one sucky-azz pic. Did the F-16 pilot use his cell phone like they just thought of the photo shoot cover story on the spot?
I think the bail out money will pale in comparision to the money Barack will spend on the “good life” at the White House.
Think of it, the picture released shows AirForce One towering over the Nation’s symbol for Freedom – the Statute of Liberty. Very appropriate for this administration.
Next question: How do you scramble an F-16 without the President of the USA knowing?
He knew. You can’t tell me that the POTUS did not know that Air Force One was doing a flyover followed by an F-16 Fighter Jet (regardless of what reasoning they want to come up with) That is unacceptable. Either he does not have a clue what is going on in his administration or he’s an arrogant cuss and doesn’t care what the people think. Inexperience or arrogance?

There’s nothing funny about wishing kidney failure on anyone. There’s also nothing humorous about using your children to diminish or cover your own mistakes or foolish behavior.

The manifest for those on the flight needs to be made public. How about some transparency here.

I remember the plane that landed in the Hudson. Seemed like there was lots of marine traffic.
Wasn’t it a nice day? Is the harbor normally so empty? No sail boats? Smaller vessels? Any marine traffic?
Personally, I’m glad we have youth in the White House. It’s a refreshment after the Old Cronies who have been running this country with their brain-washed sons bringing up the rear. There’s more to life than oil and the auto industry. Time to think all things are possible, just like we did when we were young. Can they change the world? I hope so.

Air Force One flying above Manhattan unannounced? This has got to be one of the strangest occurrences to date – considering that A) our current administration is tightening service expenditures within various governmental departments – yet no one within the White House PR staff reminded the White House photographer that we live in the age of computer photo graphic technology – and the so-called “photo op” idea could be achieved with far better results using stock photos of “AF One” with CGI technology plus added effects – thereby saving taxpayers the over $350K flight operational expenses of flying Air Force One and B) President Obama was not informed about the Manhattan fly-over?

I have often wondered if the reason for the secrecy concerning the manifest, could be that Obama’s friends, the Muslims may have been aboard. He may have given them the opportunity to view ground zero.
