Obama Makes GM CEO an Offer he Cannot Refuse … GM CEO Rick Wagoner Resigns at Obama’s Order … What is this The God Father?

Socialism you can believe in, now Obama is telling companies who should leave.

General Motors Corporation Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner will step down immediately at the request of Barack Obama. This is frightening. We now have a government that is not only selectively bailing out failed companies, they are now making personnel decisions as to who stays and who goes.

Obama now making offers that Auto Company CEO’s Can’t Refuse

DETROIT – General Motors Corp. Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner will step down immediately at the request of the White House, administration officials said Sunday. The news comes as President Obama prepares to unveil additional restructuring efforts designed to save the domestic auto industry.

The officials asked not to be identified because details of the restructuring plan have not yet been made public. On Monday, Obama is to announce plans to restructure GM and Chrysler LLC in exchange for additional government loans. The companies have been living on $17.4 billion in government aid and have requested $21.6 billion more.

What a coincidence that Wagoner resigns without reason except for the fact that it was at the White House’s behest the night before Barack Obama is set to announce his plans for the auto industry, including a response to a request for additional funds by GM and Chrysler.

The Obama administration asked Rick Wagoner, the chairman and CEO of General Motors, to step down and he agreed, a White House official said.

On Monday, President Barack Obama is to unveil his plans for the auto industry, including a response to a request for additional funds by GM and Chrysler. The plan is based on recommendations from the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry, headed by the Treasury Department.

The White House confirmed Wagoner was leaving at the government’s behest after The Associated Press reported his immediate departure, without giving a reason.

The Obama Administration now seems to be acting more like the Corleone Family making people an offer that they cannot refuse, take the bailout and and you are forever beholden to us. What a complete cluster. As Wizbang aptly states, “General Motors would be better off declaring bankruptcy than accepting any plan by this inept, incompetent White House. For Pete’s sake, this administration can’t even distribute the tickets to the White House Easter Egg Roll competently”.  How can a free market economy survive with this type of Presidential Executive interference?

UPDATE I: Hot Air is dead on with their exit question.

Exit question: Ever get the feeling that Obama’s not quite the centrist pragmatist Christopher Buckley thought he’d be?

UPDATE II: New GM CEO: Bankruptcy May Be Best Option for Automaker

Really? What a shocker! Were not responsible free market people saying this before Obama gave them the first round of billions of dollars? So in the end it would have been better to have had these auto companies declare bankruptcy months ago and cut to the chase. Is there an echo? That was exactly what was said when individuals thought the first auto bailout was a waste of time, energy and the tax payer’s money.

Henderson, who was GM’s president and chief operating officer, was named the new CEO after the government forced the resignation of CEO Rick Wagoner on Sunday. GM’s board is also being restructured.

Henderson told reporters that the company would still prefer to restructure outside of court, but the level of support Washington is offering would help the company quickly restructure through bankruptcy.

UPDATE III: GM, Chrysler face bailout ultimatum

Shouldn’t it frighten people that the auto industries future is being decided by a government task force and White House with not a single person with any auto experience on it? Food for thought, do we really think Obama, a Democrat that needs union votes, will let this fail or is it just window dressing?

I miss the olden days when we had this thing call bankruptcy.

If your product started to bite the collective weenie, oops my bad… you needed to go back home

      for you.

This is the end GM as we know. It will not last with the White House telling it what to do. We will have to pour money into it like the Post Office.

      Dear Red Monkey,

Can we please have a serious discussion? When you continue to call Obama “The Chosen One” it says you know very little about God. Only God chooses “chosen ones” i.e., the Jews. God has not chosen any non Jew ever.

God has not chosen Obama. He has not been anointed by God. You made that up, along with other right wing ultra conservative east coast republicans. Every single time you call him The Chosen, I just cringe at your propagandist words and supposed lack of knowledge about who is and who is not “chosen.”

I think Obama is smart to cut off money to the automobile manufacturers. It is they who have taken America for a ride. Obama is the PRESIDENT and can do anything he wants. He does not have to ask the Scared Monkeys leader, Red, if he is in agreement.
      ____________
LV: Give me a break. When you make a comment like this it shows how little you know about me or what they have referred to Barack Obama for the past 2 years.

Hard to have a serious discussion regarding a President that is beyond an amateur and a joke.

OBAMA: “This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow, and our planet began to heal.”

      MOSES: “Behold his mighty hands!”

ANNOUNCER: Barack Obama maybe the one but is he ready to lead?

This is not a reference to the Jewish People when “The Chosen One” is used to Obama … it is a reference to the insanoid Obama Kool-Aid drinkers who actually think this man is the Second Coming. LV … it is sarcasm.

BTW, What money did Obama cut off the the auto manufacturers? He gave them billions and plans to give them more. Please get your facts straight.

Obama is change that is dangerous to America. His campaign with the help of the MSM is one of the biggest frauds ever perpetrated on the American public.

Next, Obama will go to your job and say that you must go.

The president can do pretty much whatever he wants as long as it is legal. From the book/movie “Frost/Nixon” … Nixon says on TV “If the president does it, it is not illegal.” Politics, innately, is corrupt. That’s a given. We have to decide to vote for the least corrupt. I’d say the longer one has been in politics, the longer the possibility of corruption. The less time one has in politics, the less chance of corruption.

      #5 Red Monkey,
I don’t know you but I do know you have a very big heart and that you and Tom founded the best Natalee Holloway front page and blog, bar none. I sat here for three years, transfixed. Red, I know your political affiliation. You are a right wing ultra conservative east coast republican. I don’t understand why you would cite a McCain campaign ad (Aug 1st 2008 3:15PM) written by an AOL nobody, Mark Impomeni, as the source for claiming there was a conversation and interaction between Obama and Moses. I saw the ad and it was really good but Obama did not participate in it. Again, it was a republican presidential campaign ad. Do ya think McCain would produce ads that were pro Obama? PS: I never realized “The Chosen One” was sarcasm. Thanks for the enlightenment.

Official: Pond search in Aruba for Natalee Holloway nearly done
Posted by The Associated Press March 30, 2009 8:33 PM

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — A private investigator scouring a drained pond in Aruba for clues that could help solve the mystery of a missing U.S. teen is preparing to wrap up his latest search and report any findings, an official on the Dutch Caribbean island said today.

Ruben Croes, president of the Aruba Search and Rescue Foundation, which has helped look for Natalee Holloway off and on since she vanished in May 2005, said U.S. investigator Fred Golba will end his probe of the garbage-strewn retention pond Tuesday and then depart the island.

A team of foundation volunteers, including Croes and his son, have helped the tracker dog specialist from Chicopee, Mass., probe the muddy bottom of the 250-square-meter retention pond since last week. Aruban police have been observing Golba’s search.

“We will all meet tomorrow and talk about what was found and what may be there of any interest to Fred,” Croes said this evening in a phone interview. “I believe there has just been a lot of trash found, but we will see. I haven’t been there since the weekend.”

Natalee Holloway of Mountain Brook was 18 when she was last seen leaving a bar in the Aruban capital on the final night of a high school graduation trip. No trace of her has been found despite extensive searches involving hundreds of volunteers, Aruban soldiers, FBI agents and even Dutch F-16 jets with special equipment.

Although the pond next to a popular soccer field in northwest Aruba has been searched before, the missing girl’s father, Dave Holloway, hired Golba again because a witness last year alleged he saw the only remaining suspect, Joran van der Sloot, coming out of its brackish water with only one sneaker on after Natalee’s disappearance.

Croes said Aruban volunteers have been helping Golba, who has searched for Holloway eight times before, with his latest search at the request of the Aruba Prosecutors’ Office. He said it was done out of “courtesy” for the aching Holloway family.

“I can understand, of course, that when you lose someone like this that you want to keep looking,” Croes said.

Dave Holloway could not immediately be reached at his home in Meridian, Miss.

In early January, Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos said his office was “approaching the end of this lengthy investigation” and appealed to the public for help.

      Subject: Ask God

A little boy wanted $100.00 very badly and prayed for weeks, but nothing happened.

Then he decided to write God a letter requesting the $100.00.

When The postal authorities received the letter to God , USA ,they decided to send it to the President.

The president was so amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $ 5.00 bill.

The president thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy.

The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 bill and sat down to write a thank-you note to God, which read:

Dear God: Thank you very much for sending the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you sent it through Washington, D.C. and those assholes took $95.00 in taxes.
