Casey Anthony Jailed On First-Degree Murder In Daughter’s Death

UPDATE IV: Florida grand jury has returned a seven-count indictment charging Casey Anthony with first-degree murder in the disappearance of her 3-year-old daughter, Caylee.

Lawson Lamar, the state attorney for Orange County, Florida, said the first count is a capital charge — which could carry a penalty of life in prison or death.

She was also charged with aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child and four counts of providing false information to police.

The 19 grand jurors — 10 women and nine men — deliberated for about half an hour after hearing from police, a cadaver dog handler, an FBI agent and the missing child’s grandfather.

Anthony, who spent most of the day at her lawyer’s office, surrendered about 90 minutes after the sealed indictment was returned. Prosecutors are asking Anthony be held without bond. (CNN)

Casey Anthony’s Jose Bias has stated in an impromtu meeting following the grand jury decision that “She’s doing her best to stand strong, to stand up to the powers that are working against her”. He also stated that “She (Casey) has been living a nightmare,” and ”she has a missing child. She’s also a child.” Well Attorney Bias, at least Casey Anthony can say she is still living.

UPDATE V: George Anthony video with his attorney before testifying against Casey Anthony. Thankfully, George asked everyone to pray for his grand daughter Caylee Anthony.

Poor George Anthony, left to testify about his own daughter in the case of his missing Granddaughter. At least he did the right thing even though it has to have been pure agony. It’s a shame Casey chose to put him through this by not telling the truth.

Well, it’s about time, but understandable that LE had to “get all of their little duckies in a row” or the case against Casey would be in jeopardy…

Death by lethal injection is too good for Casey!!

Make her SUFFER the way little Caylee did…

Missing Fla. girl’s mom indicted on murder charge By MARK WANGRIN, Associated Press Writer
      13 minutes ago

ORLANDO, Fla. – The mother of a missing 3-year-old girl was accused Tuesday in an indictment of killing her daughter, prosecutors said, even though the child’s body has not been found during an exhaustive four-month search.

A grand jury returned charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter and four counts of lying to investigators against Casey Anthony in the death of her daughter, Caylee, State Attorney Lawson Lamar said. The mother is being held without bond.

A few hours before the sealed indictment was issued, the 22-year-old Anthony stood silently, sometimes crying, as her attorney told reporters she is innocent.

“Casey is going through a nightmare,” Jose Baez said. “I sincerely believe that when we have finally spoken, everyone, and I mean everyone, will sit back and say, ‘Now, I understand. That explains it.”

Casey Anthony’s father, George, testified Tuesday behind closed doors to the 19-member grand jury along with a detective, a cadaver dog handler and an FBI agent.

The child’s grandmother first called authorities in July to say that she hadn’t seen Caylee for a month and that her daughter’s car smelled like death.

Casey Anthony told authorities that she had left her daughter with a baby sitter in June, and that the two were gone when she returned from work. She says she spent the next month trying to find her daughter and didn’t call authorities because she was scared.

Investigators immediately started poking holes in her story. The apartment where Casey Anthony said she had left her daughter had been vacant for months, they said. They said she also lied when she told them she had been working at an area theme park as a photographer.

Investigators also accused her of stealing checks from a friend and cashing them. She was charged with felony child neglect and making false statements along with forgery and theft. She was released on $500,000 bail and confined to her parents’ home.

    8. Mary on October 14th, 2008 4:21 pm

Does anyone believe that there is the possibility that they have found the body of little Caylee and that they are keeping it a secret until the courtcase begins? I honestly feel that her brother Lee knows what Caycee did to her daughter but he too is not talking.

    9. Moose on October 14th, 2008 6:57 pm

Casey Anthony is innocent as far as I am concern. Have they found a body? Proved the little girl was killed? Matched DNA? The answer is no. I thought this was American where a person was innocent till Proven guilty. No one has proved anything. That look on her face …. so very cold. I strongly disagree. She has the face of a beautiful angel. Did she make bad choices, yes. Has she done questionable things, yes. But prove she killed that child. You can’t… yet.

Did you get that nickname because of your low moose-like IQ?

    11. Mike on October 14th, 2008 7:43 pm

      Moose,

By that logic anyone who can dispose of a body must be innocent.

Are you saying that the no reporting of her daughter missing for a month, the borrowing of a shovel. the disposing of Caylee’s things, her cavalier attitude after Caylee’s disappearence, the smell of death in her trunk doesn’t even rouse your suspicion? And thats what we know let alone what ever other evidence LE has.

    12. Maggie on October 14th, 2008 7:45 pm

The answer is no. I thought this was American where a person was innocent till Proven guilt.

The grand jury saw the evidence and testimony.. Innocent until proven guilty is a court of law term.. Show me any parent who goes out partying and partying when their child has been kidnapped?

    13. Debs on October 14th, 2008 9:19 pm

In one scene on CNN tonight…Cindy was saying something to the effect about there being no evidence found in the car…

Has Cindy forgotten that it was early in the day when she got her car back from the pounding lot…

And she let several hours go by before she made the famous 911 call stating something about the car smelling like a dead body in the trunk…

And during these several hours before the 911 call…what did Cindy do…does everyone remember what they told us on tv…Cindy cleaned out the trunk…washed Casey’s pants…

And according to what we heard earlier on…it was Cindy who “tampered” with the original evidence in the trunk of the car…

And she being a nurse…nurses know how to clean things with certain chemicals to try to get rid of smells and odors…

For Cindy to say on CNN tonight that there was no evidence in the car…she needs a reality check…and someone needs to remind her of the 911 call and what she told police that she did with the clothes that were in the trunk…she washed them…

Why wash the clothes, clean the trunk, only hours before one calls 911 and says that it smelled like a dead body in the trunk? Only Cindy Anthony knows this answer…And yes, I believe that she is hiding more information from the police…

Why couldn’t Cindy just call 911 immediately when she first got the car back, instead of hours later…after she cleaned up everything…

Cindy got rid of the evidence seen with ones eyes in the trunk of the car…but she didn’t think about all of the new type of scientific “air” evidence that is available now…

I believe that Cindy should be charged with some type of tampering with and destroying physical evidence in the trunk of the car…because she did admit on the 911 call hours later that it smelled like a dead body…and the clothes would have had to smell like a dead body too…

All of us television viewers can put 2 and 2 together and get 4…Hey we are no dummies…

    17. missi74 on October 15th, 2008 6:54 am

Casey Anthony is a liar and a murderer! All the evidence clearly points to this, and that her family, especially her mother, is covering for her. Anyone who could kill their own child should rot in hell! I sincerely hope she cracks and finally starts telling something that resembles the truth so at least little Caylee can be properly laid to rest.

    18. MBS on October 15th, 2008 7:13 am

This quote from Baez just infuriates me:

“I sincerely believe that when we have finally spoken, everyone, and I mean everyone, will sit back and say, ‘Now, I understand. That explains it,’” Anthony’s attorney, Jose Baez, said Tuesday as he stood next to his client before the indictment was issued.”

Does he honestly think it helps his client to imply that, while her daughter is missing and presumed dead, or at least in danger, Casey has information that could “explain” the whole situation, but refuses to reveal that information until it can help her at trial? Baez makes Casey look like even more of a monster.

    21. scott on October 15th, 2008 9:23 am

Baez and Casey are DEFINITELY screwing. Clear as day. He doesn’t care about her freedom as long as he’s getting a piece of tail.

    22. da_wench on October 15th, 2008 9:48 am

Baez has known all along that Casey would be indicted for murder. His agenda has not been to keep her out of jail, but to keep her alive. He will fail, of course. I believe Casey will take the truth of what happened to Caylee with her to her grave via lethal injection.

    23. brie. on October 15th, 2008 10:52 am

Baez says when the truth comes out we will all have compassion for Casey, so where is the truth and why is Baez not coming forward with information about Caylee…

Why did Cindy stop under the bridge, along the highway and let Casey get into a different vehicle, was she planning on taking off and Cindy and someone else was going to help her….?

Well, Tim Miller has left town because he said it wasn’t fair to the Anthony’s at this time to search because of what is going on….

    24. Fire Fox on October 15th, 2008 11:15 am

      Scott:

      LOL!

Probably so. But I agree with Da Wench, she’d better get a qualified attorney or we’re all going to get screwed. He’s not equipped to defend a death penalty case of capital murder. He’s out to make a name for himself that could cost her, her life by holding her hand. Hopefully, he’ll hire some associates so this case doesn’t have to be tried twice.

      .

Amazing! The ‘Steel Magnolia’, actually, cried a couple tears when the indictment was being read.

    25. A New Girl on October 15th, 2008 11:43 am

      Baez & Anthony fornicating? Eeeeeeeewwwwwwww!

She is going to ROT ROT ROT in prison. Better yet, maybe she will even get the death penalty.

Baez is a loser! Obviously he didn’t take the case for the money (the Anthony’s don’t have much) rather the noteriety it will bring him. I agree with many- he is in over his head and the American public or the Jury assigned to this case will not be fooled with his ridiculous comments and appeals for sympathy.

Casey is going to have a few new girlfriends after her in the can, too. Think she is crying now—just wait! lol She deserves to spend the rest of her days in her own living hell….and it looks like it is going to be delivered to her-right here on Earth.

First time I’m gonna agree with Fox Fire…Baez is not only unqualified, but for a murder one case I understand you have to have a bare minimum of 5 years trial experience on those type of cases/charges. Baez does not have 5 yrs of that (at least Nancy Grace had a guest who said so!)

The public doesn’t want to pay for 2 trials/a mistrial.

    27. Richard on October 15th, 2008 12:03 pm

The lawyer’s comments are, I imagine, what one might expect of a lawyer these days … considering that most politicians are lawyers, the moral turpitude of the profession is clear.

Aruba, are you taking note? No body, no crime? Not in this country.

    28. ߤnnië on October 15th, 2008 12:40 pm

In answer to the plea for respect for Casey, respect is earned not forced upon someone. I have no respect for Casey or Cindy. It was easy for me to have sympathy with Cindy in the beginning but now, she is off the deep end and using Casey as a paddle. It would help the case if TES found the body so I hope they get back and try. I think Casey will be sentenced either way. I saw Cindy waving the dress on the Today show. I hope she gave this information to the people who need it unlike she has done with the other information.

    29. Fire Fox on October 15th, 2008 10:28 pm

I haven’t seen Cindy in the news much, so I don’t know what to think of her. I’m, kinda, surprised that there’s not an indictment for her, too. But, maybe she’s not a ‘Steel Magnolia’ like her daughter. I’m sure she’ll HAVE to testify… unless, she pleads the 5th. .. or pleads down for her testimony.

      .

      Say bye-bye, Casey!

Hopefully, they can get her on some meds…

Casey Anthony should fry for what she did. Being put in prison for the rest of her life will only cost money. Casey should be put to death in the electic chair, even if it does mean having her head shaved and being embarrassed. She killed her little girl, so she should receive the death penalty. Fry Casey, and I hope that they put you in shackles before you die.
