Obama makes Obvious Reference to Hockey Mom, Pitbull & VP Sarah Palen:” Lipstick on a Pig … It’s still a pig”

Obama maybe is you who are the pig … a male chauvinist Pig. Barack Obama, you just crossed a line that you can never return from.

Your comment is about as un-Presidential as it gets. Who tells you to say these things? Hey “Chosen One”, do you ever wonder why you are trailing in the polls and trending downward? That’s it, what a man you are showing yourself to be, attacking a woman like you were a third grader. Then again, that’s about all the experience Obama actually has.

The MSM and the liberal blogs have pounced upon Sarah Palin as if she was the anti-Christ. Now the candidate of CHANGE, the Obamamessiah who said he would conduct his campaign in a manner different from typical politicians has crossed the line and gone after female VP candidate Sarah Palin. Obama stated, “You can put lipstick on a pig,” he said as the crowd cheered. “It’s still a pig.”

Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin’s new “change” mantra.

“You can put lipstick on a pig,” he said as the crowd cheered. “It’s still a pig.”

“You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It’s still gonna stink.”

“We’ve had enough of the same old thing.”

The crowd apparently took the “lipstick” line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: “lipstick.”

Obama will forever regret the day he made the lipstick comment. People can make all the excuses they want for Obama, he did just call Palin a pig. Palin referenced herself as a pitbull with lipstick and Obama just slapped at her. Obama, you should be utterly ashamed of yourself. Hopefully women in this country will see you for what you really are … a typical low rent, no talent politician who will say anything to slime an opponent in order to get a laugh. You are a sad pathetic excuse. What would possess you to say such a comment directly and personally toward a women … maybe it was your Muslim faith? Then again, I am sure it was all just perfectly innocent, NOT!!!

UPDATE I: Who’s the Pig, Barack?

It would appear that the folks at Town Hall.com agree with the premise as to who the real pig is. Is this the deapths of which Obama will lower himself? Is he stupid, mean, insensative or just that afraid of losing?
So which was it?  Was Barack actually referring to the Governor of Alaska — and the GOP’s vice presidential nominee — as a pig?  Or was he so clueless that he didn’t understand the impact of his words?

Of course, he’s panicked.  But that’s no excuse for heading straight to the bottom of the barrel.

That’s right Obama you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.. Read up Obama..

New Pig Book says Hillary Clinton’s tops in pork spending, Barack Obama’s 2nd, but John McCain had none!
The nonpartisan taxpayer watchdog group Citizens Against Government Waste is out with its newest Pig Book, an overwhelming detailing of all 11,610 pork barrel projects inserted in the current fiscal year’s appropriations bills by individual members of Congress.

These semi-secret spending measures cost taxpayers an extra $17.2 billion this fiscal year alone. This is the first year legislators have ad to attach their names to these measures.

That’s B for billion dollar$. In extra spending. That typically didn’t go through the usual legislative committee screening. A huge increase over the previous year.

And guess which one of the surviving presidential candidates likes pork the most? And the least?

According to the Pig Book (“The Book Washington Does Not Want You to Read”), New York Sen. Hillary Clinton is our new grand national oinker among presidential contenders for most pork barrel spending. She inserted a whopping 281 individual spending projects into bills for the benefit of New York interests at the cost of taxpayers everywhere.

      That totals $296.2 million.

The new national hero, on the other hand, for not inserting one penny of pork barrel spending is the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee, Sen. John McCain of Arizona. As a longtime staunch opponent of such earmarks, McCain may be expected to raise the subject of such special spending if Clinton becomes his Democratic opponent in the fall’s general election.

He may also bring it up if his opponent is Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, who may be a freshman senator but still isn’t shy about inserting special earmarks into legislation cataloged by the taxpayer group’s annual report. He accounted for 53 special earmarks, totaling almost $97.4 million.

This was not a gaffe on Obama’s part … it was a hateful, sexist comment directly and personally aimed at Sarah Palin.

Ok all you lib women … you liberal woman who can’t stand condescending men … looks like you got one as your Presidential candidate.

    3. A New Girl on September 9th, 2008 6:39 pm

As far as I’m concerned, this comment was directed at Palin. So, add some more numbers to all the females who already had jumped the Obama ship. Don’t forgetnow to add the many independents MEN and WOMEN alike who, if they have been undecided till now…will keep adding up all the things that come from Obama’s mouth (the gift that keeps on giving) and vote for McCain/Palin.

    4. Scared Monkeys on September 9th, 2008 6:45 pm

So what does Obama have against lipstick?

      Lipstick code for women?

Do women actually frighten Obama? They must, he could not find it in himself to put one as VP on his ticket and now he is in free-fall and counting on the desperate hateful acts to attack a woman.

      Dear SM,

Apparently, Sarah scares him…and rightfully so. Poor pitbull would be no match for this gal. Do a search on her and check out some family pictures. She hunts elk, has been to Iraq while governor, runs marathons, found one picture of her on a family member’s commercial fishing boat….one picture of her hugging her husband after he completed a 2000 miles race across Alaska and back. So, Obama does have reason to fear. What does Obamanation have that will in any way intimidate this woman? OR intimidate a man who was tortured at the hands of his captores for 5 1/2 yrs? Nothing.

    6. Richard on September 9th, 2008 7:18 pm

If he did say it in a thoughtless moment, let’s hope that he has the grace to apologize.

After all, even Hillary Clinton, who was chewed out by the country singer Tammy Wynette after making her comment, “I’m not going to just bake cookies in the kitchen and stand by my man” … Tammy Wynette apparently retorted that she, unlike Hillary Clinton, got where she was by her own ability, not that of her husband … had the grace to call and apologize.

Will you do the same, Sen. Obama?

    7. caesu on September 9th, 2008 7:32 pm

      hahaha
the Republicans have become such crybabies. ROFL

UPDATE: Obama aide Anita Dunn responds to the McCain campaign’s claim that Obama compared Palin to a pig:

Enough is enough. The McCain campaign’s attack tonight is a pathetic attempt to play the gender card about the use of a common analogy – the same analogy that Senator McCain himself used about Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s health care plan just last year. This phony lecture on gender sensitivity is the height of cynicism and lays bare the increasingly dishonorable campaign John McCain has chosen to run.

    8. A New Girl on September 9th, 2008 7:41 pm

Also amazing how now the Dem campaign has become so overwhelmingly negative…..

Shouldn’t Obama be concentrating on going against John McCain?? He’s running scared and once again it shows.

Let’s hope McCain/Palin come back again and show more class, while at the same time continuing to stand up for themselves.

    9. yoyo muffintop on September 9th, 2008 7:46 pm

It’s an innocuous comment only taken out of context by political opportunists. No need for Obama to apologize for a harmless popular analogy.

Forget about the snip, here’s what was said:
“John McCain says he’s about change too, and so I guess his whole angle is, ‘Watch out George Bush – except for economic policy, health care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy and Karl Rove-style politics – we’re really gonna shake things up in Washington,’.
“That’s not change. That’s just calling something the same thing something different. You know you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig. You know you can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, it’s still going to stink after eight years. We’ve had enough of the same old thing.”

Nothing remotely about Palin. Maybe someone can point out how this was directed at Palin? I see “Bush”, I see “McCain”, I see “Rove”. I don’t see Palin.

But if you wanna play the game, let’s play.
John McCain commenting on Hillary Clinton’s health care plan: “I think they put some lipstick on the pig, but it’s still a pig.”

Did McCain apologize to Hillary? Is McCain now sexist because of his quote? Is McCain stupid, mean and insensitive?

      Politics is brutal. Love it.

    10. barbreee on September 9th, 2008 7:55 pm

Damn???? WTF???? If that is an example of his alleged golden oratory skills, then DAMN???? WTF????

Whatever happened to “can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear”? That’s not offensive, he could have said something less obvious than the lipstick crack.

This guy doesn’t think too quickly on his feet. That dog won’t hunt. Sarah’s got him stammering.

I like the wench, she’s a classic strong American woman. Kick ASS Sarah. Girl’s like Sarah are one half of the team that made this country great. The other half, of course, being her loving husband.

    15. Open a Window on September 9th, 2008 10:28 pm

Barack Hussein Obama plans with his handlers just what he will say at these events. You can tell that he is given these talking points because he doesn’t use many uhs and ums when he is told what to say.

After the funny unscripted joke that the Governor made at the convention last week, I believe that The One’s handlers got very busy figuring out a way to use her words against her.

Today, Joe Biden, while talking about McCain’s campaign, used the word “lipstick’”. Rep. Carnahan, an Obama supporter, today used the word “lipstick”, as in- you can put lipstick on . . .
Then, B. Hussein Obama comes out with the “pig on lipstick” comment. How many times do you think these men use the word “lipstick” in an ordinary week?

The added comment about “old fish” and “eight years” just made it a triple whammy against Governor Palin, Senator McCain and President Bush.

The libs are so transparent when it comes to their talking points.

    16. yoyo muffintop on September 9th, 2008 10:31 pm

Instead of hiding behind a smokescreen of words and political operatives, avoiding necessary and relevant questions maybe Palin will now give the American voter a clear articulation of her positions and record.

Rick Davis, campaign manager for Sen. John McCain: Gov. Sarah Palin won’t subject herself to any tough questions from reporters “until the point in time when she’ll be treated with respect and deference.”

How sexist! So women are different from men now? They have to be treated with fragility or they will break?

It gets better. Rick Davis, again, when asked when Palin will subject herself to questions:
“When we think it’s time and when she feels comfortable doing it.”

The party who is trumpeting Palin as an example of woman empowerment is holding her back? By controlling her the McCain campaign is showing how chauvistic the party really is at it’s heart.

The only conclusion one can come to as to why Palin has not faced the press yet – once she memorizes the answers, she will address the media.

Until Palin answers questions directly, all anyone knows about Palin is she can read a speech written by someone else.
What are you scared of Palin?

Pretty bad when you choose a running mate you’re too afraid to have on the trail.

    17. yoyo muffintop on September 9th, 2008 10:53 pm

I do find it funny that when the word “pig” is mentioned by the Democrats the Republicans automatically assume it’s a reference to Pork-Barrel Palin.

You have got to be kidding me? That is one hell of a stertch…in fact, it is just plain false and taken out of context!! Obama was NOT refering to Palin as a pig with the lipstick comment. He was talking about the Republicans not offering “change” to our currect situation.
      Republicans MUST be worried.

      Obama said:
“How do they have the nerve to say it?” Obama asked a suburban Detroit audience Monday. “When you’ve been supporting this current president, your party has been in power, and you’re not offering anything new, how is it that you’re serious about change? You’re not. It’s empty words. You’re just saying it because you realize, ‘Obama has been talking about change. That seems to be working. Maybe we should try to say it too.’”
“You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig,” he said to an outburst of laughter and applause from his audience in Lebanon, Va., Tuesday. “You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change, but it’s still going to stink after eight years.”
      ____________
      SM: Dude … spare me.

Sarah Palin makes the lisptick reference on a pitbull as a comparison to a hockey mom and low and behold the anoited Chosen One makes a “lipsticking a pig” comment a week later. Give me a break and stop being so literal. Any thinking person knows what Obama was making reference to.

Here is a news flash for you, late last week democratic pundits were using the talking point of lipstick.

Do you honestly think that “lispticking a pig” just came out of thin air? Come on and think without bias.

Want to know just how out of sorts the Obama campaign is these days?

When was the last time after both political conventions were over that a Presidential candidate attacked the VP candidate of the other party? Continuously?

Is Biden still in the picture? We may have to do a Where’s Waldo for the whereabouts of Joe Biden. It is the VP’s role to play attack dog not the President.

It just goes to show everyone what a colossal blunder that Obama made in picking his Veep. An obvious sign of his decision making in the future.

Democrats nor Obama have yet to get over the Palin pick for VP and they have not a clue as to how to deal with it, except try and destroy her. Obama has no one to blame but himself as he is the one who thought he had a safe lead and cowered when it came time to pick a VP.

No one is talking about Obama anymore … its all about PALIN POWER. I do not care whether you are a Republican, Democrat or Independent … look what Sarah Palin has done to the political landscape in less than 2 weeks. That is change my friends.

YoYosays : Rick Davis, campaign manager for Sen. John McCain: Gov. Sarah Palin won’t subject herself to any tough questions from reporters “until the point in time when she’ll be treated with respect and deference.”

Well, YoYo —-here’s a little diddy for you—-a few months ago when MICHELLE Obama (yes, that’s the wife not even the candidate himself) appeared for the first time on the morning TV Talk show, “The View”—the producers were handed a list of topics that could not be asked of the wife of the Obamasiah! OK? So, talk about tough questions? Couldn’t go there.

As far as the REP’s response that you listed above—I say good for them! When Obama and his campaign want to stop with the nastiness and get back to that “no mudslinging and families are off limits” type of campaign–perhaps this can continue on a different plane.

Palin should be treated with respect. Didn’t the Dem’s and the media learn from their SEXIST and UNFAIR treatment of one of their own HRC? Again, whether you are male or female yourself, whether you personally love or despise this woman—Hillary Rodham Clinton was NOT treated equally while campaigning as President. It was tougher for her than anyone up there!

Well, like Hillary—Palin is no wallflower. She can stand tall and weather the storm. To boot, she’s got McCain behind her-and that is who we are voting for. Palin just sweetens the deal—but worth her weight in gold considering all the attention she’s been getting. Got the Dem’s and Obama in a tailspin! Got all of America looking….lots of Independents and Undecided voters backing this ticket now and the Dem’s don’t like it. Boo Hoo—-talk about crybabies!

YoYo—once again—your historical references are clouded with bias. You would make a lousy news reporter. You should be fair and just report the facts, not just snippets of things that clearly favor the side you are on.

FYI, Daily Mail UK had a link to an article about LIES being circulated about Palin. Here’s a synopsis:

We’ve been flooded for the past few days with queries about dubious Internet postings and mass e-mail messages making claims about McCain’s running mate, Gov. Palin. We find that many are completely false, or misleading.

      1. Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she tripled per-pupil funding over just three years.

      2. She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a “What if?” question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin’s first term. Since many of the books on the list that Palin supposedly wanted to censor weren’t even in print at the time, it further proved that the list is a fabrication. The librarian was fired, but was told only that Palin felt she didn’t support her. She was re-hired the next
day. The librarian never claimed that Palin threatened outright to fire her for refusing to ban books.

      3. She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She’s been registered as a Republican since May 1982.

      4. Palin never endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan for president. She once wore a Buchanan button as a “courtesy” when he visited Wasilla, but shortly afterward she was appointed to co-chair of the campaign of Steve Forbes in the state.

      5. Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska’s schools. She has said that students should be allowed to “debate both sides” of the evolution question, but she also said creationism “doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum.”

    30. MBS on September 10th, 2008 7:38 am

The lipstick comment was hateful in my opinion, but the other comments he made, about Palin having 5 kids, were just incredibly condescending. How can anyone not think he is an elitist, who looks down on the average American? Well, I suppose that’s not very nice to say, so I withdraw it … but I couldn’t resist.

I agree with Red (#28). It is possible, I think, that the expression just came out without thinking; after all, it is a common expression in English. I also agree that, in the circumstances, it seems that it was pre-planned.

Whichever is the case, it is crude and insensitive. An apology to clarify the situation is certainly due.

In any case, as poster #10 says, usage of this phrase explodes the idea that has been put out about Obama’s oratorical skills. He can deliver a written speech effectively … but so what? Is performing to a TV camera what really matters?

Unfortunately, with all the media active, this is what politics has been reduced to in our country.
I agree totally with poster Brie (#19) … “We’re all sick of the media.” Too bad for us all that their perspective on the campaign focuses exclusively on cheap shots.

      Richard,

I thought his comment was just a poorly timed analogy until I listened again. He says “You can put lipstick on a pig…” and then waits for cheers and applause before continuing with the rest of the comment. If he was just using the analogy he would not have paused where he did.

Whether he wanted to slam her or not, he’s not too smart with what he says.

I guess you missed the point. My point was it’s OK for McCain to make the pig comment..and Obama to reference it, and when he does….everybody starts crying about it.

Thanks to New Girl for affirming what many are saying: Pork-Barrel Palin is not ready to be VP.

“As far as the REP’s response that you listed above—I say good for them! When Obama and his campaign want to stop with the nastiness and get back to that “no mudslinging and families are off limits” type of campaign–perhaps this can continue on a different plane.”

She is not ready to answer a question from a reporter but she is ready to step in and take over the presidency?
Looks to me like Pork-barrel Palin’s a coward, hiding from the press and terrified of being asked questions. What is it she’s hiding? Is it her personal secrets or is it her stance/ignorance on the issues? The two are not the same. The first, depending on their nature, could be nobody’s business. The second, though, becomes all of our business when she aspires to the second most powerful job in the nation.

Pork-barrel Palin is a coward and in way beyond her depth. Thank you New Girl for affirming that. haha.

YoYo since Obama is running for president. I would like to see what he has done for people.. Can you show me? I am interested in hearing it?

Last night O’Reilly talked to Obama about his relationship with Ayres.. a bomber.. Obama said oh that was long ago he was. O’Reilly said well not long ago he said he wish he had bombed more places.. Rev. Wright..and that Rezko guy(he’s going to prison) where Obama got his house $300,000 cheaper.. Obama appears to be all talk with nothing to back it up. O’Reilly also talked about a site online far left site on the west coast that put out a memo saying the baby of Sarah’s was actually her daughter’s.. Obama said he don’t support that, so O’Reilly asked him why he went and gave a speech to that group then?

He wants to talk about pork barrel spending,, when the record shows he had about $100 million of it last year in Illinois. Also if you look it up Biden was in the top to be nominated for King of pork barrel spending.

Democrats have praised McCain.. Hillary did.. and said Obama has a speech he gave in 2003(?)If they have to send 30 lawyers, detectives, etc to check on Sarah, they must be worried.

Why are you so focused on Sarah Palin? I am an Independent white woman and this is what has turned me against voting democrat time and time again lately.. Run on records and policy, not the scorched earth plan. How woman could think Bill Clinton is for women is beyond me? He uses and abuses them it seems in his life. I voted for him the first time..

So show me Obama’s record and what has he done?

    48. A New Girl on September 10th, 2008 5:04 pm

#44 & #45—-instead trying to convince the both of you otherwise….let’s just let the NUMBERS do the talking in November, shall we?

OBAMA’S OWN WORDS FROM HIS OWN MOUTH: The gift that keeps on giving!

Keep talking, he’s losing more votes every day. He’s so full of shit I can smell him all the way over here in Boston!

      Peace!

So…Obama says, “You can put lipstick on a pig….it’s still a pig.”

I have to admit, there is lot of truth in that statement. After all, if your cat has kittens in the over, that don’t make ‘em biscuits, right?

Therefore….you can put a Muslim sexist Democrat with exactly 143 days of experience as a senator in the White House…..but it will still be just a Muslim sexist Democrat with exactly 143 days of experience.

      ‘Nuff said.

Any reference to “lipstick” is now a direct reference to Sarah Palin? Just because she tirelessly repeats a joke involving the word “lipstick” hardly makes her the owner of the word.

The “lipstick on a pig” analogy has been used for over 50 years; it was used by McCain in reference to Hillary Clinton as well. But this mock outrage is another last-ditch effort to try and play the victim from a candidate (McCain) was is supposed to eschew such tactics. John McCain: you used to be my hero in the Senate… please stop this crap.
